Bad experience. I went about 7pm Saturday evening, looking for a quick casual bite. The place wasn't busy at all. Ordered a couple mini burgers and they were burnt to a crisp. The place wasn't clean and one of the two food handlers was touching their hair, their phone, then my food without washing hands or change of gloves. This was a great place to dine! Clean, good service, great food. I had the bacon burger (medium well), my fiancé had the Blue Cheese Burger (medium well) and my brother had the Glazed Burger (medium well). They were all cooked wonderfully! We also had an order of mozzarella sticks and chili cheese tater tots which were delicious. I'm so happy we have a new burger spot in the area! The fiancé also enjoyed the Laguanitas "sucks"...he said it was really good! We'll definitely be back and hope others enjoy as well! read more

Great Burgers, out shopping with my sister and we stopped her for lunch. My first visit. We shared a blue cheese burger with bacon jam and it was delicious. Big enough to share and be happy. The fries are "fresh cut" and so wonderful and good. Cooked to perfection. I have not tasted a fresh cut fry in a long time and it was bliss. I will be back again. Loved it. read more

Reading some of the recent reviews makes me kinda sad not everyone got to experience the deliciousness I did. I'd never actually stepped foot in this place till today and just decided to give it a shot while getting gas next door. I was craving an interesting and higher quality burger, usually to find it I have to go downtown to Kuma's or DMK, but their menu looked promising. I got the Glazed Burger and fries. Love that they asked how I'd like it cooked (not many fast casual places will give you a medium rare burger). When I got home 15 minutes later my fries were still hot and the burger... oh my god. Cooked to perfection. Beyond the juiciest burger I've ever had in my life. It was incredible. I scarfed it down and after finishing I had to say out loud "that was f*ckin delicious". I hope people will give this place another shot because (especially for the price) they have amazing burgers. I'll definitely be back soon!!! Edit: real sad seeing those couple burnt burger pictures. This place is quite good. Great value. We ate here and had a huge cheeseburger, fries and a drink for under $7. Thursday's are free side day and they give you the extra dollar off when you get a drink so it's crazy cheap. And the burger is really good. Better than Portillo's good. The first time we went with a great coupon, buy one get one free actually that came in the mail to our home, we were very impressed. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the sandwiches were huge and in every way tasted wonderful and was quite impressive. Not so much the second time last week. Everything on different types of burgers with smothered and some kind of a sweet barbecue sauce that we weren't expecting and we don't recall having had it to that degree the first time even though I think we wanted the same sandwiches again. I wanted to like this place because it's close to home and our first experience was pretty good, but OMG where do I begin?!? Let's start with the fact that some of the people who work here and handle your food may or may not wear gloves and proceed to touch everything in the place including the register, the door and their own hair and then proceed to form your burger with those very same hands. So disgusting. Or you can get your burger or sandwich thrown on a tray with no wrapping or container at all and your fries might come out ten minutes later than your sandwich. I'm guessing there's about 20 health code violations behind the doors too. Don't waste your time or money or risk your health for that matter. read more

We waited excitedly for this restaurant to open up at this location. It is a great concept and the food (which we had tried at other locations) was tasty. The first few times we visited the St. Charles location, we experienced what we thought were "first month hiccups" as they worked the kinks out. Once we waited over 30 minutes for our food to be made, watching folks in the kitchen stumble over one another and communicate poorly. Another time we got takeout and got home to find that we were missing several items from our order. Last night, when we had the idea to try Urban Counter again, we thought "They've been open for a long time now so they've probably got all the bugs worked out." Wrong. My husband volunteered to pick up dinner, only to come home and find that half our order was missing, including his food. When I called the restaurant to try to get a refund for the $15.00 worth of food we hadn't received (while my husband made himself a pb&j), I spent over 20 minutes on the line while the staff tried to help me get my money back. I asked to speak to the manager on duty, but was told that there WAS no manager in the store at this time. The staff member who was trying very hard to help me eventually called the manager only to be told that there was no way to issue a refund without me driving back over there and bringing in my card. Unless I would like to come in, explain the situation, and be comped $20 worth of food. Uh, no thanks - I have no interest in visiting this restaurant ever again. The cherry on the sundae was that the staff member - who was understandably frustrated by the situation and the lack of support from his manager - took down my number and said that the manager would be calling me today to discuss the problem. It did not surprise me one bit that I received no such call. So, in a nutshell, great concept, pretty decent food (if you actually walk out with what you ordered) but not worth dealing with the lack of any sort of management. I doubt they are keeping many employees long, and repeat business doesn't appear to be a priority either. read more

One bite, everybody knows the rules. I got the bacon burger, an order of fries, and a beer. Burger was over cooked and dry. The bun was grilled and the burnt that. All I could taste was charred bread. Best part of the burger was the roasted jalapeño. Fries were soggy. Taste like they haven't changed the oil in a while. Beer was great! Only $3 bucks from 4-7. Absolutely yummy! I had the BLT with no avocado and tater toys. I love the toys here. Crispy and firm. The BLT white bread was grilled, the bacon melted in my mouth and the mayo was just the right amount. They have the Coke freestyle so you can have any beverage you want. They do serve beer, but I can't say much about that as I am not a drinker. They offer salads, burgers, chicken and wings. My hubby had the brat. The sauerkraut was not over cooked and had great flavor. The brown mustard was very tasty and he shared my toys. I would come back in a heartbeat. We got the east coast and west coast dogs and split a large tater tot. I was happy to see they had some different dogs ( my husband and I will drive many miles for a fun one) My west coast dog had roasted jalapeño relish. It was a little hot for me but I'm not great with a lot of heat. My problem was that the buns were wet on the outside. Nothing can wreck a dog faster than an inferior bun. We'll be back. UC is superb. It's becoming my "go-to" place for fast food. Everything is freshly made. Last night was my 4th time I've eaten at UC. I've had amazing burgers the three previous trips. The fries and tots are top-notch. Last night I had the Harvest Salad with chicken. It was spectacular. It was loaded with fresh greens, blue cheese, cranberries, almonds and tomatoes. Delicious and filling. I'm now anxious to try more items on the menu and breakfast too. The interior is very nice and reminds you of being in the city. The behind the counter could use some help. The sweet potato fries are mushy ( like the Fryer fat wasn't hot enough) and some were so dried out that they seemed burned. The Choc shake was like wipped milk with chocolate, not creamy thick. Not sure why the cup for the milkshake said " Pride" on it. Are they owned by the Pride wine store next door or did they just run out of plastic cups? The people at the register seem tired and the people at the grill frustrated. The burgers are good. The biggest problem is that they close at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights! This is my favorite place to get buffalo wings from & their homemade bluecheese is to die for!! The staff is always polite & friendly on the phone, if you choose carry out, and super clean & fast for dine-in. My only complaint is they got rid of the fresh homemade coleslaw & I've never had better!!! Fingers crossed they bring it back!! If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and try it out! This has always been our go to quick burger joint for the family. It has always been hot and cooked perfectly even when we pick up our order. Tonight was a huge disappointment. Only 1 table already eating when we arrived yet we waited 30 minutes for 3 burgers. I heard an order announced for plain burgers but we were the only ones waiting. We ordered medium rare and we received well done . The bacon burgers were cold and missing the onion rings . My daughters burger took another 10 minutes. I sent mine back . I am assuming we were given those plain burgers no one picked up. I received another one. It was hot but it was still cooked well. I'm not sure we will be back. Our whole experience took well over 1 hour. I did not recognize the staff at this visit so if I do return I want the old staff. read more

One of the best burger places that's inexpensive to boot! The chicken sandwhich and burgers are of the quality one would expect from a fancy restaurant- like I'd pay $20 for two but I don't have to here. It's great to be able to eat real food out and not spend much! Phenomenal veggie burger, best I've had, and so filling you can't even eat your fries. The fries are pretty good but not tasty enough without a topping...like their amazing ranch. It's a bit spicy/flavorful as ranches go. The breakfast burrito was so wonderful too- and neither super sized nor disappointingly small. Tater tots are good, especially with cheese -and I never eat tater tots. Have taken various people/friends here and they enjoy everything as well. A relaxed vibe but still feels rather like a "nice" night out. Always a clean room and the wait is never long. Only thing I haven't tried is the hotdog(s). But that's only bc I can't help getting the same items I love. read more

I was so disappointed with this place. I never leave bad reviews but this was beyond bad. I waited for 35 minutes for my food after calling ahead and there was no one else in the restaurant. I ordered the burger medium and it was beyond well done and ice cold when I got it home to my husband. The tater tots I ordered for my son were so over-fried they were inedible, they were rock solid. The chicken tenders were also over cooked and they forgot both sauces I ordered. The bread on the sandwich was burnt and the salad had two dirty end pieces of Romain Lettuce bunches. I was so bummed. They were training a new employee which could of accounted for the delay but there were two other guys back there making the food. If we were eating there I would of asked for my money back.
