I tried one of the Egyptian dishes - kushery ($18) - and it was delicious! If you are vegetarian and/or have vegetarian friends, I highly recommend this dish. Even as a regular eater of meat, I found this dish so satisfying and filling. In case you don't know, kushery is a whole load of carbs; the dish has rice, macaroni, lentils, a slightly spicy tomato sauce, garlic vinegar, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions. The whole mixture altogether was so tasty, and I would totally get this again. I also ordered the hibiscus punch ($6), which was refreshing and not too sweet. And even though I already had a bunch of carbs with the kushery, I got the Egyptian bread pudding ($8), which was very different from the bread pudding I typically see at restaurants around here. It consisted of toasted croissant pieces that were soaked in a creamy sweet milk; the dessert also came with a bunch of nuts, raisins, and whipped cream. It wasn't as rich or sweet as other kinds of bread pudding I've had, but it was still a tasty dessert. The service was a little slow, so I wouldn't suggest dining in here if you need to get a quick meal. But the food was good, and the staff was friendly, so if you have time for a relaxed meal, give the restaurant a try. Note - there were some slight price discrepancies between the menu and final receipt for my drink and dessert, but I know prices are really volatile in these crazy times, and the price discrepancies were small. read more

Overall a decent experience, but the food fell short of my expectations. We ordered the beef shwarema and Greek gyro. Both came out quickly. Beef shwarema: (2/5) The beef was very dry and flavorless. The menu advertised ribeye beef but the beef did not taste like anything. The sauce that came with this was the only thing that made it taste good. The portions were also smaller than I expected. Also came with fries, which were crispy and salty but not very plentiful. Greek gyro: (3.5/5) The Greek gyro had lamb and vegetables. The lamb was salty and kind of juicy. This was definitely better than the beef shwarema, but the portions were small for a 16 dollar dish. Service: (5/5) our server knew the menu like the back of his hand and told us all about the dishes. Ambiance: (4/5) The interior was quite nice with a few pictures. Looking for a local spot while visiting the Cleveland Clinic. Find this spot. Wander the .3 miles. I walk in, immediately thanked for dropping but and I take my seat at a table. Server comes over and asks me if I'm ready to order and I start the whole "what would you have for lunch here?" He responds everything is good. What are you in the mood for? I say a sandwich so burger or Reuben? He smiles when i say Reuben and starts to tell me that everything is house made!? I start to salivate because I love a good mom and pop store that makes their specialties in house. The surprise is a young girl(daughter of owner?) delivers my sandwich and she's so sweet. Again. Family run businesses are the best. Camera eats 1st and I'm very excited about this as it looks incredible. The corned beef looks so juicy and they have the best fries. Take my 1st bite, the rye bread is perfectly toasted so the crust isn't rock hard and the meat and sauerkraut are just so flavorful. The bread has to be from a local bakery?! For sure, One of the best Reuben's I've ever had the pleasure of eating. It's crazy that I'm in Cleveland, off a main street just outside of downtown and we have access to food that is this good. Thrilled to find this spot on the same block as the hotel I was staying at while in town visiting Cleveland Clinic. Great service and great food. Got a customized omelette that was phenomenal. Lots of veggies and protein options available. I really liked the gyro meat I got in mine. They also have a variety of Egyptian menu options that I'd love to try. Word of caution, this restaurant is halal so there is no pork. Instead they offer turkey sausage and turkey bacon which were both tasty. read more

I ordered Turkish coffee that was served in a dainty gold cup with a refill in cezve. The coffee was a little sweeter than the usual Turkish coffee but still very delicious. I ordered Sunrise On The Nile as my main dish. It is traditional Egyptian breakfast featuring stewed fava beans with garlic, tomatoes, olive oil, and cumin. Served with two eggs, feta tomatoes, three falafel, and warm pita bread. This savory breakfast dish was served on a huge platter and was an interesting combination of flavors. The service was attentive although it was evident that the wait staff is a little overwhelmed. I will definitely return to savor more Turkish coffee. My wife ordered the beef shwarma wrap, which she enjoyed. I have celiac, so my meal had to be gluten-free. After informing the server of my condition, he told me that the falafel dippers would be fried in fresh, uncontaminated oil. They were yummy. The chicken sandwich was served on a gluten-free bun, though the menu does not mention this as an option. I substituted a salad for fries; I could have had steamed veggies instead. The waiter (Kelvin) was very personable and friendly. He was clearly concerned about my need for gluten-free meal and checked with us frequently. Service (a little after 1:00 pm) was quick. My wife and I recently spent a few weeks in Cleveland. We stayed down the street from Urban Kitchen, so we had the opportunity to visit a few times. We were thrilled with the eclectic menu that included American fare, interspersed with middle eastern cuisine. The restaurant is bright and cheerful and the service is friendly and welcoming. On both visits, the waiters were helpful with explaining the menu and our food was freshly prepared and hot. For the quality of food they serve, the prices are very fair. On my first visit, I enjoyed the salmon burger and my wife had the Mediterranean chicken wrap. This was when we learned that their French fries are amazing! Both of our sandwiches were excellent, which is why we visited again. On our second visit, I enjoy the California Chicken Sandwich, which has avocado, bacon, swiss, spinach, onion and tomato on a grilled brioche roll. This also came with those French fries! My wife ordered the blackened chicken salad. The salad was great, however the lack of seasoning on the chicken did not meet the level of being considered "blackened" by New Orleans standards. She would have liked to have a bit more kick! All in all, Urban Kitchen is a great place to enjoy a casual meal with friends without compromising the opportunity to try some innovative foods. Got the cornbeef hash 2 eggs hash brown potatoes and rye toast. This was homemade cornbeef seasoned and cured well got it crispy and it was savory especially mixed w the yolk of the over easy eggs - the toast was from a rye baguette thick small but perfect. Let me preface this by saying I'm an out of towner and my food options are usually limited due to delivery cost and distance. I discovered urban deli and kitchen on my most recent trip to Cleveland and OH MY GOSH I'm so sad I never checked it out sooner. I usually am in town for 2-3 days at a time and this time I had EVERY meal from urban. There was so much in quantity that I was able to save for my lunches the next day. The first time I dined in and had the roasted chicken with potatoes and veggies. The chicken was quarter leg size, crispy, and so tender on the inside. The mashed potatoes and gravy was sooooooo good! Even the veggies had a garlic kick but they were just regular steamed veggies. I will say service was a bit slow for dine in and especially pick up the first day, but they were busy too. The ambience is cute, nothing too extravagant. Very much a mom and pop sort of vibe. Later for dinner I went back and ordered a Cajun chicken salad to go. It was refreshing and the chicken had a spicy kick to it. The next day I ordered the bamia & the health platter. I LOVEDDDD the bamia! It was so flavorful and the lamb shank was cooked to perfection. The meat practically fell off the bone! I substituted the vermicelli rice for the Persian fava & dill rice which I absolutely loved. The okra stew was amazing as well. I highly recommend this dish! The health platter came with three different dips, grape leaves, and pita. It was so light and refreshing and honestly could be a meal in itself for me. The hummus, baba ganoush and feisty feta cheese were packed with flavor! The grape leaves added a bit of texture. Overall I am VERY happy with this place! Lazy Saturday mid-afternoon before a Guardians game. Yelpers brought us here and it was near our Hotel in the Cleveland Clinic area. Probably disappointed based on the reviews. House salad is big and well worth the $6. Chicken soup seemed homemade and was very tasty. I had to send it back since nice it was room temp. That took some time. Hamburger was underdone and had to be recooked. That took some time. Coffee refill never arrived. Mixed day on performance. Based on their location the restaurant must be packed weekdays. First, my fantastic orthodontist sent me, so this was a delightful surprise. Second, the restaurant was clean and offered a variety of choices. If y'all know me, then you know that proved to be a challenge. LOL The staff was friendly and informative, and they made selecting an entree easier by recommending an entree. They did not disappoint! Wow. We were looking for a place to have lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised at how many spots were closed. We 'settled' on Urban Kitchen but it ended up being a fantastic experience. We were greeted and sat right away, and everyone was very nice. Prompt, friendly service. Husband started with a mango smoothie and it was out of this world. So much juicy flavor. The Health Platter appetizer was amazing. Good hummus, decent baba, grape leaves were fine. Toasted pita is always a nice touch. But the feisty feta? Whatever this dip was made of is the stuff of Gods. I would drive out to the east side for just this dip. So creamy, tangy, kinda salty, but full of flavors. My Mediterranean Chicken Wrap was also perfect. Nice size wrap, expertly seasoned chicken, crisp veggies... and a killer Greek dressing. Hubs ordered the Rocky Balboa sandwich- pastrami, corned beef, cheese... very generous portion. The aesthetic was simple/ diner style, but also warm and welcoming. My family and i spent our Eid with Urban kitchen expecting excellent food and service to compliment our experience. 1:The food was ok, bland for a "egyptian" place. 2: decor is cute but the lighting is horrible if you want cute pictures. They also video you without consent. 3:The customer service was absolutely terrible, I would never go again. There was an issue with service time where food was delivered at different times for our table. Also we were not attended to fully by our server to check in so this led to a discussion with management after server ignored and low ball compensation for our experience. The manager (arab old woman with an orange bob) came over, making general statement and no engaging respectfully with me about the dissatisfaction with my family members order (who ordered with us, our party had a reservation which they called us to confirm the day before, the issue was her food came out about 45 minutes after everyone else's and was incorrect.) and kept repeating things that were irrelevant to the issue and talking over me loudly. I just wanted a simple resolution of addressing the issue with acknowledgment. The solution given was comp my bill in half instead of taking charge off for wrong and delayed order. This was unacceptable service (the lateness of one person in the party's order + that order missing items) for Eid Al-Fitr. The manager's behavior was ridiculous and unprofessional, her demeanor upon approaching me was condescending- it was like she was trying to escalate the situation and argue pettily rather than problem solve. All of that on Eid... Never again there's better zabiha halal or even just brunch options out there with excellent staff and management. Disappointing. read more

I was having a business meeting today and needed lunch to be delivered. For the first time we ordered from Urban Kitchen and the meal was EXTRAORDINARY! My guests had a hamburger and a lamb burger and both found them to be well prepared, very tasty, and generous. I had a reuben and it was out of this world. Generous meat, perfectly toasted, and terrifically well dressed. We each had French fries and, while they didn't do as well in terms of delivery, we each ate them all!! Some people claim to they need a cup of Joe (coffee) to get their day started. However, I need a breakfast. I've been to the Urban Kitchen (UK) for lunch and had a few catered dishes. Which has always been both delicious and satisfying. Today, I stopped for breakfast. I ordered a bacon and egg english muffin sandwich $7 and home fries on the side $3. It was mediocre, not worth the stop considering I had to pay for parking. The potato's were delicious. I was disappointed with the sandwich and felt cheated. I had one slice of bacon that was cut in half, giving the impression of 2 slices. I also had two different pieces of english muffin bread. Look at the pictures and see for yourself. read more

We were in the area to visit Cleveland Clinic and were looking for something within walking distance. We decided to give this place a shot and are so glad we did. The strawberry lemonade might be the best I've ever tasted. We both started with the house salad, which was delicious. High quality ingredients and unexpectedly flavorful for a salad. I followed that with the Chipotle Chicken and Shrimp pasta with a side of garlic bread. The pasta was spicy but delicious. The other member of my group ordered the Italian chicken panini, which was also delicious and large enough to cut into two separate sandwiches. The food was delicious enough that when I returned to Cleveland to visit the hospital again the following week, I went back for dinner before heading to my hotel and ordered the tropical lemonade and the four cheese fettuccine. We went here on a Monday morning for breakfast and it was not busy. We sat down and someone did not come over for a while after getting there/ordering. I got the Veggie Omelet but tried adding sausage to it, but the cooks forgot about adding the sausage to the omelet. The staff was super nice about it, I am not mad at the mistake! I personally also made a mistake as I did not realize the veggie omelet did not come with cheese which I thought was a little odd, but I made a mistake of not reading the menu closely! The hash browns had good flavor, but they were VERY crispy to the point there was not a lot of potato that wasn't crunchy and greasy. My husband got the 2 eggs any style with bacon and he said it was not bad! The rest of the family got the breakfast sandwiches and they all did say these were pretty greasy and did not have too much flavor.
