A good solid restaurant with a traditional diner style menu, with especially good breakfast food. Gene's place is a Kamm's Corner fixture with a friendly, nostalgic atmosphere. The ambiance was unique and memorable, and every table is unique. There was plenty of staff to keep our glasses and cups full and the staff was all super friendly. Gene's place doesn't take reservations. We had a large party but our wait was only ten minutes. Can get really crowded at times especially after church on Sunday. The potato pancakes are definitely something you must try.

This is such a cute diner. It has a lot of memorabilia on the walls. The menu has a good selection and items are named after different Hollywood actors. Their food is very good. The service was great, our waitress was very nice. I will definitely be back.

Wow. What a hidden gem for me. Place is literally right down the street from me and it was my first time. The has the decor that takes you back in time to Humphrey Bogart and Clarke Gable. The menu is quite large and they serve breakfast all day. I would definitely recommend checking the hours and they vary by day. Staff was very friendly and nice. I had the Lone Ranger burger and it seriously might've been one of the best burgers I have ever had had. I was blown away how good it was. I really liked this place is set up and the overall atmosphere

Stopped in for lunch had the Lana Turner (BLT) it was perfect. Friend had the Audrey Hepburn (Turkey) also great. Love the atmosphere.

Delicious diner food. Great service! Nice atmosphere. Great experience! Recommended. Fun.

I've been going to Gene's Place for years and for some reason have never done a review. Gene's is like going to a favorite relative's house for dinner. The menu is consistent and rarely changes. The food is nothing fancy but it aways tastes good. You can get breakfast any time of the day. They do serve beer and wine if you want a drink. They also have daily specials that usually include a breakfast special. Gene's is a great place to take your kids, it's got a real family restaurant atmosphere.

Came in on a Friday mid afternoon. They still had a nice lunch crowd. At 55, I was the youngest in the joint. Service was fast and very friendly. Started with a Tuscan soup. Very hot, the way I like soup. Had a San Francisco salad. Fairly basic, though plenty big enough. Nothing really special and I would have made this a 3 star review. But the salad came with a bread side. The waitress was nudging us towards the chocolate muffin, so we took her suggestion. IT WAS TO DIE FOR!!! Looked like a store bought muffin, but it was warm and absolutely delicious. I think they made them in house. I only took one bite and let my daughter finish it, but it added a star to the experience!

Ended up adding their homemade sausage for an additional $3 which was decent but I'd probably go without it next time. 5/5 Ohio cheesy grits were also good--tasted different from the savory biscuits and gravy especially with the corn. The Rowley Inn is located in a nice neighborhood (Tremont) across the street from the Christmas Story house. I had three meals there. The first, loaded pierogis, was the ultimate comfort dish. Pierogis with potato centers were covered in diced kielbasa, bacon (yes, bacon), and covered in cheddar cheese. Ahhhhh. The others at my table raved about the kielbasa and pierogi dish. They also liked the beer selection. How do you know you have a great find? You think about the meal long after it is consumed. Next meal- breakfast. I had the kielbasa and pierogi omelet. Need I say more? Finally, we came back a third time and I ordered the burger. No burger place (save Chuckbox in Tempe, AZ) can match the Rowley burger. The burger is actually seasoned and cooked to order. I had it medium rare. Sheer perfection. Typing this review makes me sad because I live far away from Cleveland. If you are in The Land, you must drop everything you are doing to get to the Rowley Inn. It is a 8 minute drive from downtown.

I've been to nice steak joints that don't know how to cook a steak medium that consistently throughout. My initial water glass was cracked, and a decent chip in the top almost cut my lip. I brought it to the servers attention and she replaced it. And, I also ordered an Arnold Palmer, which never came. They close at 3:00. Our server was Maria. Super nice and very helpful. We were leaning toward the chicken salad sandwich and asked if it contains onions. Kathy can't eat raw onions. It upsets her stomach. Maria was very honest and said yes, it has lots of onions. And she is not a fan of it for that reason. We thanked her and went to our 2nd choices. I got a chicken avo club and Kathy got the BLT with an egg and on ciabatta bread. My chicken avo club was good. Just very sloppy. The avocado made it too slippery to stay on the bread. The first half I was able to keep it on. 2nd half I had to deconstruct it and eat it piece by piece with a fork and knife. Still good. Just not in sandwich form. The Cajun potato's were very good too. Kathy also enjoyed her BLT. Place is cute. Lots of artwork on the walls you can buy. Parking is right in the lot by the entrance. Easy peazy. No reason to not try this place. Prices are about average. My sandwich was $15. And you can get breakfast all day. Lives up to the hype. I'd go back.

So for a grand total of $24.90, I got the Doris sandwich (a breakfast pork burger and egg sandwich) with added pickles and mixed greens, as well as an order of their famous cornmeal fries and a side of sunshine sauce. Everything was packaged fabulously in their iconic retro-diner style packaging and was still hot upon arrival. The buttery brioche bun was without a doubt, some of the best bread I've had in a while. I am marking my score down a mere half point as I wasn't huge on the signature egg and I would have liked an opportunity to opt for "light" sauce vs a standard amount of sauce on the food ordering app. The entire sandwich is gigantic and is definitely a diet killer. I visited on a Saturday for brunch, and since they don't take reservations and the space isn't very large, there can be a bit of a wait during peak hours. Parking was probably the most frustrating part of the experience. Your main options are valet, street parking or parking in a city lot on a nearby street and walking over. It's doable, but not the most convenient -- especially if the weather isn't great or you're in a hurry. Once inside, though, the experience definitely improved. The atmosphere is cozy and lively without feeling chaotic, and the staff kept things moving despite how busy it was. The food was genuinely good and worth the wait. I ordered the shrimp and grits with chicken sausage, and it was flavorful, hearty, and clearly made fresh. I ordered 24K pancakes "with toppings" as a meal so it was around $20 and I thought it should've been way more fruit and whipped cream than it was for the price but that would be my only critique. One of the highlights was the drink menu -- especially the variety of mimosa options. If you're into brunch cocktails, you'll have plenty to choose from. I tried the lemon drop mimosa, which was refreshing, slightly tart, and a fun twist on the usual orange juice version. Overall, Double Nickel delivers where it matters most: tasty food and creative drinks in a cute brunch setting. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
