I had a bikini wax with Eva and it was not good. First, I felt rushed when changing to get ready for the wax. Afterwards, she didn't apply any witch hazel to the irritated skin, and my skin was irritated due to it being the first time in a while since I last received a bikini wax. This is the third massage I have received from Robbin Wells for a sports injury I incurred. The relief I have experienced via her use of deep massage and stretching has been nothing short of miraculous. She has a strong command of therapeutic massage techniques and is able to effectively apply this extensive knowledge to best assist her clients. Most importantly, she listens carefully to what is said and is able to utilize this information to pinpoint the true source of pain. Went for an hour massage. A lucky luxury. I haven't had one for some time, so an old gift card was burning a hole in my pocket. Since my first massage, I realized how fantastic they are so I've splurged on many of my trips to experience other spas. With that said, if you're looking for that extravagant ambiance, you'll be disappointed here. The lobby/sales room is first, then the "relaxation room". I've been in way more relaxing and updated rooms. If you're like me, that doesn't matter. The actual massage rooms here are relaxing, clean, and worth the visit to this location. I went to Urban Nirvana in Mt. Pleasant for Birthday massage. Receptionist was very friendly. THE MASSAGE THERAPIST WAS DISGUSTINGLY HORRIBLE. She was not friendly or welcoming. Never introduced herself, never asked pressure preferences or anything. No engagement at all. 1 hour of uncomfortable silence in a semi dark room. I've never had an experience like this with a massage and will never visit this location again. She was the worst. She put so much pressure on my back that I had to lift up so she would realize what she was doing. She either needs training while dealing with the public or a personality adjustment. I have been using this Urban Nirvana location for nearly three years since moving here. However, today is the last time I will ever set foot into this location or any for that matter. As a supervisor for the company I work for, I often have to cancel plans and report to a job location. Especially for emergency services. I informed urban Nirvana of Mount pleasant, of my situation. That I was currently down town Charleston, in an emergency situation, trying to remove a sewage blockage and get this business back operational. Apparently this does not sit well with Urban Nirvana. Urban Nirvana, charged my Credit card the full cost of the visit for canceling!! So to all of the customers who still use Urban Nirvana, best of luck To you, and god forbid your personal life or professional life get in the way of this business. However the last time I visited I went in for a service, some professional suggestions and guidance and was responded to with an attitude and comments that displayed a clear lack of care and professionalism. I went for a 60-min Swedish massage with Jenny after my wedding to unwind. It was a very good, classic massage - no frills, but relaxing and effective. Jenny did a great job circulating the system with relaxing motions and applied extra pressure on the knots in my back as needed. I felt sooo much better afterwards. I have been coming here for over ten years. Best place in the area for a great eyebrow wax! There may be some salons that may be less expensive but the service and quality are not the same. Spa bed you can relax on, dim lighting, soothing music. I go to Judy for all my services, because she is the best and very experienced. I'm always very pleased with my brows and come every 5-6 weeks. She does great facials as well. Nice boutique in the reception area- facial products, lotions, jewelry, candles. All unique. I bought a few Christmas presents when I was here today. I went here to get the Bed Head massage with Wendy & it was amazing!!! 30 minutes of heaven as my head was massaged with different oils? Yes please! I had the Bed Head massage at the West Ashley location before and was a little disappointed, as the massage therapist focused mostly on my shoulders and neck. Wendy learned about my previous experience at the West Ashley location and told me from the get-go that she would make up for my last massage. And boy was she right. Not only did she exceed my expectations, but she was very welcoming and friendly. Made an appointment for a 1 your facial. I drive 35 minutes to go enoy my Mother's Day gift. When I got there, they informed me that I was not in the computer for an appointment but they quickly found it and discovered there was a mistake when they scheduled it. They had me on the schedule for the next day. They were able to squeeze me in for a 30 minute facial for free. I booked a Signature Facial with Michelle and it was amazing! I didn't realize how much was included with the signature facial, but first she gave me a skin treatment on my back and since she has to apply all kinds of things to your back its kind of like a light massage as well. The massage bed was heated, and it was so wonderful I wanted to stay there all day. After she did my facial she also put lotion on my arms and hands and put my hands in some kind of warming mitts. The only time I wasn't in pure bliss was when she used an extractor to unclog pores but that's part of the service. Walked out of there feeling super zen and my skin looks and feels amazing. Went for 60 minute massage with Lisa. Fair Price, Fair massage. It seems unfair, however, to rate every aspect of this place based on one massage. They apparently offer a variety of different things. But, that is my only experience I may go back and try a different massage therapist. Not that there is anything at all wrong with Lisa but I don't think she was right for me, I like deeper more intense massages. Anyway, 3 stars because I've had better and I've had worse. On April 6th a new employee Hailey was performing massage theropy. My wife walked into the massage room with iPhone in hand and placed it in her back pocket as she changed leaving her clothes folded and on the floor. When the massage was over and Hailey left the room, my wife dressed and reached for the phone to check emails - it was gone. Hailey had gone. My wife went to the manager and they called the cell phone which immediately rolled into voice mail. They could not reach Hailey who did not wait for a tip. Although Urban Nirvana recognized that theft is the only possibility - they did nothing to compensate my wife and refused to take responsibility for employee actions. This is wrong on many fronts and I find myself writting my first ever review. DO NOT GO to Urban Nirvana - they are potentially thieves at the very least dishonest and unresponsive. read more

My husband and I recently moved to the area and I have been looking for a spa to get my waxing done along with massages and facials. I came across Urban Nirvana as it was voted "Best of Charleston in 2010" and they are also one of the stores that sells my preferred fragrance collection so that was an additional plus ! I had waxing services done last night. The front desk staff was friendly and I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing time whether its for a waxing, facial, massage, or even just stopping in to purchase some of their other products in the front of the spa. My esthetician, Kim, was so wonderful. She was friendly, gentle, knowledgable, took her time, and made sure I was happy with my services before I checked out. I told my husband that I would certainly welcome gift cards for services at Urban Nirvana for any occassion, as I cannot wait to go back. Even my husband, who was waiting for me in their serine waiting area, didn't want to leave he was so relaxed sitting there. He was also interested in coming back for a massage as well. I recently went to Urban Nirvana spa in Mount pleasant for a few relaxing treatments. While everything was very nice, the facial I received was AMAZING. It was done by a lady named Judy who clearly knows what she's doing. I don't know her age, but I'm 31 & I was envying HER skin. I hadn't had a facial in quite some time, and not only was the experience soothing, it clearly made a huge difference in my skin. My skin looks so refreshed & much more even in skin tone. My trouble acne spots dwindled by the next day. I'm not saying I walked out of there with completely perfect skin (we all know you can't just reverse genetics & hormones overnight)......but I can actually use the word "glowing" about my skin; something I haven't been able to do in a very long time.
