As a patron of this place and a neighbor, I really REALLY wanted to like it here. I wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately I can no longer look away and blindly support. I don't recommend this place. It's no wonder they needed to be on bar rescue. Although I don't think bar rescue rescued. I've heard the owner can be unreasonable and I experienced that first hand. First of all look at these menus they handed me. I couldn't even read a portion of it. Then they informed me they were no longer serving some things on the menu after I ordered them. But why have a menu that looks like it's been half eaten by birds if it's not even up to date? The jalapeños cheese curds aren't bad by any means but the pizza crust tastes like church Eucharist. The outdoor patio is fine and they're playing FIFA right now which is nice. But I can't get over what happened next. My dad has an allergic reaction to alcohol. We're very aware that NA beer and alcohol has a pinch of alcohol in it. But it's so low it doesn't cause a reaction. He's also had the NA option we ordered and hasn't had a reaction. Well guess what.. He starts to have a reaction and asks the waitress if it's really an NA beer. She did a good job responding in the best way she could and removed the item. I tasted the na beer and it tastes exactly like my actual beer. My guess is something went wrong in the tap, or it was accidentally the wrong beer. I also don't know many places that have na beef on tap. Either way the owner made our waitress come out and tell us "because it was no fault of our own she's not taking it off the bill". I found it messed up that the owner didn't have the gall to come out and say that herself and instead made the waitress the bad guy. And to be clear our waitress was very good. I also found it off putting that no one even asked my dad if he was okay. Then to top it off the pen they gave me exploded and I left with an inked covered hand. This is a very honest review. I've been here multiple times and never really had a good experience but kept that to myself and kept trying. But after this I'm honestly embarrassed for them. I can only expect the response from the company will be defensive and rude. So look out for that yall. But don't go here. read more

This is definitely a local neighborhood joint. Not a lot of seating inside - there are some bar seats and maybe 3-4 tables inside, so seating is mostly outside in their covered patio. We snagged one of the tables outside and the place filled up rather quickly. We ordered a medium size BBQ chicken pizza; it was decent but could've used more BBQ sauce and had tons of onions, which I love but my husband hated. Our server did get overwhelmed (she mentioned she was fairly new) and forgot my husband's order of beer that we had to follow up with her once. When they got extremely busy, our server was hard to track so we could bill out. I'm glad that we got to try this place, but would probably not go out of the way to dine here again unless we are in Kirkwood. read more

I was in Atlanta for work and based on the 4.8 star rating in the Slice app I was very excited to try them. My husband and I ordered a small BBQ chicken pizza and a small byo with roasted garlic, spinach and cheese, as well as a cheesy bread appetizer and two cans of pop. However, what we received was a cold cheesy bread appetizer, literally the marinara sauce was warmer than our food. We were completely missing the BBQ chicken pizza and the other pizza had no toppings on it. The drinks were fountain drinks instead of cans, and our driver dropped one (granted this is not on the restaurant, but it wouldn't have happened if we had received cans, which I specifically ordered instead of the fountain drink option for this reason). The restaurant would only refund the money for the missing pizza, the spilled drink and the toppings we didn't get on the other pizza. Essentially making us have a cheesy bread appetizer and a small cheese pizza. We still had to pay $50 when all was said and done. That is wild to me, admit defeat at that point, apologize and refund me. I would have never even written the review had they acknowledged how big of a mess up this was. Instead I had to argue with a 3rd party app to even get a fraction of the money back because they said the restaurant wouldn't allow the refund. I frequent the area multiple times a year for work and I would have given the restaurant another chance, because I know things happen sometimes, but it's all in how it's handled. I'm a pizza/italian cuisine snob, being from NY. I didn't come for that. I loved the look of outdoor area and it sucked me in. The peaches & creme calzone is something I craved. Anytime I'm in Georgia, I'm all about anything peach! Well...it was not what i expected, but turned into an amazing opportunity for great customer service. As it was served to me, i was told we ran out of peaches so we made with mandarin oranges. First off I appreciated the honesty, because truth be told a cooked mandarin orange and a cooked peach probably appear very similar being both orange and color. However I'm a weirdo and hate oranges and all things orange flavored. The bartender said why don't you give it a try first and if you don't like it I'll take it off the bill. Maybe you'll enjoy it. I was skeptical, took a bite, and true to myself, didn't like it at all because it was orange lol. All good she took it off the bill and I decided to order something else unique that I could not have at home. The jalapeño cheese curds were amazing! Just the right amount of spice and the sauce for it is whipped up fresh. Was the perfect blend of ranch And spicy goodness. Since I was sitting at the bar I decided I might as well have a local draft brew. Scofflaw basement IPA is a touch of sweet which is different for an IPA and I enjoyed it so much. As I did the conversation that I had with the bartender and other patrons of the restaurant who were all so friendly, from all over the country. So I was in the neighborhood and I was trying to go to evergreen but it was early so I stopped by this spot just to have a quick drink or two. This is a neighborhood dive bar. Kind of situation that serves pizza in bar food. The first person that came in wasn't the bartender so she didn't know what I was talking about when I was asking for a specific drink but the next guy who came in, he was the actual bartender and he and I had a good conversation. Even gave us some free shots. He was super cool, no complaints about that. I got something basic, aside from the free shot, like some Jameson and ginger ale or something like that. One pizza slice was basically like three regular slices of pizza put together LOL. Was okay Pizza. They had toppings galore so if nothing else you got a bite of topping on every piece. You needed a fork because you really couldn't pick it up, it was the size that you would get from a New York style pizza, very big and flat and thin crust. But it was pretty good, it was okay, no complaints. I probably wouldn't go back just for pizza though, or if I was looking for an actual drink, but it did pass the time and they were super friendly so that's really good on their part as far as service goes. read more

I want the businesses in my neighborhood to succeed so badly, which is why I was really looking forward to trying the revamped Urban Pie after its appearance on Bar Rescue. Sadly, I can't speak to the updated menu because we didn't even get to make it that far. When we got there, there were lots of tables open, but not a single one was clean. A server stood there and watched us look for a table, and didn't say anything as we sat at one covered in the last table's dishes and trash. Two members of staff, plus another server, came and stood across from us for 10 minutes, chatting with each other and not saying anything to us (but did make eye contact with us as we tried to flag them down). Another server also noticed us, but in her defense, she was busy delivering food while the other two just stood there, talking with each other. When we finally decided to leave, we had to walk directly in front of them to go out the door. Despite watching us come in, sit down, wait, and ultimately leave, they still didn't say a word to us. I know Urban Pie has long been criticized for its crappy service among the neighborhood, and sadly, it seems like that's not improved along with the other updates. read more

If you're considering going to Urban Pie--don't. We were genuinely excited to give this place a second chance, especially after hearing it had been on Bar Rescue. We had previously stayed away due to awful service, but thought, maybe they'd turned things around. Spoiler: they haven't. To say we were disappointed would be putting it mildly. You can't slap lipstick on a pig and call it filet mignon--and honestly, I would've respected an unapologetic pig more. The nicest thing I can say is the cosmetic Changes they made were clean and modern but at total odds with the service experience. We arrived around 5:50 p.m. and while the place was busy, there were clearly open tables. Instead of a friendly greeting, the man working the patio barked at us to stand and wait--for what, he didn't say. Eventually, the bar manager, Kira, went against the apparent plan of the waitstaff and seated us herself. That should've been our red flag. We were handed two menus--one "old," one "new." Some of the new menus had prices clumsily crossed out and rewritten--$10 more than what was printed. The old ones listed dishes that no longer exist. Chaos before the first order. After waiting 20 minutes, we were able to order drinks and fries. They brought four plates for five people, explaining that Bar Rescue had "thrown away their plates." Seriously? When the fries finally came out, we ordered two pizzas. Over an hour and 45 minutes later, still no food. We had to re-give our order to Kira, who approached us like it was the first time she'd spoken to us. Meanwhile, two tables seated at least 20 minutes after us received their food and finished eating. When we again asked what the timeline of our pizzas would be, we were told "another 10 minutes." We asked for our check for the things we had received. The waitress brought the bill back and acted like it was a favor that she had removed the pizzas (that we never received) from it. And these pizzas that were so challenging to the kitchen - a cheese and a Margherita pie. The excuses came rolling in: short-staffed, overwhelmed, down a pizza oven. No apologies. No accountability. Just a steady chorus of "it's not our fault." Actually--it absolutely is. This is a management disaster from top to bottom. Urban Pie is a textbook example of how not to run a restaurant. The service is abysmal, the operations are a mess, and the attitude is worse. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid it at all costs. read more

We ordered: Spinach salad (large) Margherita pizza Mirkwood BBQ chicken pizza Granted on a Saturday night it was busy which was understandable. When my Mr got there at estimated pick up, it wasn't ready. There were three orders before him. Again, he was patient and was cool about it. When he got home, there were a couple of things that was wrong with our order. He asked for Jalapeños on his pizza. Did not add. Paid for large salad, got a small. Asked for lemon vinaigrette dressing, received Balsamic. I thought the food was good. Loved my Margherita pizza. The crust was on point and the sauce had a great flavor. With tip we paid $60.00 (with tip) for two 12" inch pizzas and a large salad (paid for a large only got a small). Very pricey in my opinion. He didn't feel like walking back because we were tired from a long drive from Cincy so we just dropped it. If the order was right, then the money we spent would've been well worth it. read more

I was excited to try this place and it was unfortunately a very disappointing experience. Service was bad - not rude, but very slow and apathetic. It took smoke signals to get the server's attention and she'd run off if you took a breath between words so there were certain things I wanted to ask for I didn't get the opportunity to. I never got a water refill the entire time. My friend never got the margarita she ordered. My check was wrong, "fixed", and still wrong. I did not like the food. The calzone was oddly heavy even for a calzone - barely cooked through. The marinara sauce was overly seasoned - way too peppery. Food: seems to be made to order. Fresh and hot every time. Customer service: when we walked in we were warmly greeted and the seating was explained to us. Vibe/atmosphere: can be family friendly, night out with friends and a great place to hang with friends. The have a bar as soon as you enter and big tv screens for entertainment. Cleanliness: VERY clean. Outside seating wasn't sticky or with bird poop like a lot of places are. Very neat and even the restroom was nice and clean. Parking: parking on the side street (free) and also some ppl parked at the library across the street. Pizza is VERY good. I've been twice and both times the wait time was 25-35 minutes. I watched football and sipped on my drink until the food came. It was worth the wait. My waiter was friendly and very attentive. Time to check out the newly renovated Urban Pie! There were several people at the bar and a big group playing cards on the patio. We ordered the new burrata salad for an app and a couple of drinks. Man that salad is delicious!! The garlic bread is so tasty! Then we had the Thunderbird pizza. The pesto sauce is superb and the crust was done just right. The server Jen was on top of things and very attentive and friendly. The owner Lisa stopped by the table to check in and say hi also! Highly recommend. read more

I ordered a large spinach salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing, a 12" Margherita pizza, and a 12" Kirkwood BBQ chicken pizza with jalapeños. I was given an estimated time of 6:44-7:04pm for the order. It was a Saturday night, so you can expect a pizza place to be a little busy. I arrived close to 6:44, though my order wasn't quite ready, so I was okay with waiting a bit longer. And I'll admit I was a bit tired from a long day or driving from Cincinnati, so I was ready to take my order and head back to my Air BNB. However, when I got back with my order, I realized that the salad did not look like a large, the dressing was not what I requested, and my BBQ pizza was void of jalapeños. On top of that, I thought said pizza was just play taste-wise. My lady's margherita was very good though. The salad was good but still lacking very much in size. Was it all $60 good? I hate to say it, but no. I was not impressed for the price. I understand that places get busy on Saturday nights, and yes, I should have checked my order before leaving, but it shouldn't be too hard to get a three item order on point. They definitely give large slices which is great! I got (2) slices and ate off of it all day. They're CLEAN & definitely enforcing social distancing and respect for each out. I took videos rather than pictures of my experience here, but the video wont load :( anywho everything was good & fresh. They had $5 Sangrias yesterday (which was Friday). Friendly, fast, and good food. *Con: the inside is small, but they have a few outside seating. This place is pet friendly (inside and outside) which is why I gave 3 stars. NO ANIMALS should be inside of a restaurant, other than a service animal. Still trying to figure this place out. {I want to give it 2 stars if I'm being honest but I don't think less than average is fair to give anyone during covid--even though we have had lackluster visits before all of this in addition} I'm really trying to see what others have seen in the good review especially bc i want to support local but it's been hard. We have been a few times now having moved into the neighborhood last fall and both times the staff we interacted with seemed super out of it and service was the most inattentive. Our first time we asked for beers at the bar twice and the girl messed up the simple beer order both times and literally there was only one other couple at the bar and she took over 10 min to just grab us beers. The salad was lackluster and pizza was just ok. Our last order at bar she gave us our pizza to go and walked back to register ---I asked if my husband has paid yet and she said she wasn't sure and we waited at least 5 min as she stared at register without giving us any insight....finally I said ok I guess he did and we started walking away. Then she runs out to say no it hasn't been paid for and we had to run back inside to handle it. Obviously people are doing the best they can with covid, but unfortunately our two prior experiences were also not great. I've seen some amazing photos and do want to give dining in the actual restaurant a full try in hopes for a better experience. Pizza is typical American style pizza. Quick and easy. Nothing special but hits the spot if you are craving pizza. There's a nice outdoor patio space and cool artwork outside. We wanted to try something different in the neighborhood. We appreciated that the pizza arrived 10 mins earlier than expected, and that it was thin crust. The delivery person was also nice and waited until we answered the door before departing. Despite the good start, the pizza overall, was kinda salty, oily, had little taste, and didn't reheat well (crust hardened, top more oily after 15 sec). We ordered the Grease Monkey. No false advertising there, cause it was true to the name. My son, who basically eats only pizza with meat or extra, extra cheese, would not eat his second slice. Out of a 16 inch pizza, the three of use each had a slice and was done. It was a sad waste. We also ordered a 12 inch Kirkwood Kitchen Sink, this one was better, still oily and salty, but better. If we were to try this place again it would be this pizza, and maybe a veggie. Its great to have a pizza joint in the neighborhood. When eating pizza you have 2 ways of determining if it's good. It's ideal to eat it when it's hot and fresh out the oven and this instance was somewhat incredible. With a nice array of brunch pizzas, vegan options, quiche cups, potatoes, jalapeno bacon and everything in between, we took a trip to the heart of Kirkwood to try their Saturday brunch. We sampled the unforgettable Amy Lane's Favorite, the bacon and broccoli quiche cup, and some delicious jalapeno bacon. Who's ready to find out more? On the breakfast pizza menu are a ton of unique and wonderful options, everything from Avocado Flatbread for Vegans, Low Voltage with egg, chicken, and bacon, as well as other fun toppings like jalapeno bacon, goat cheese, prosciutto, and even sunny-side eggs. We opted for the Amy Lane's Favorite, who has impeccable taste we must say. This dish boasts of salmon (lox), capers, red onion, cream cheese, olive oil base on a crisp crust, plus topped with arugula. How much can you love a pizza? This is one of the best ones we've ever had like a sweet, creamy, salty bagel with a crispy crunchy crust! Not too much cream cheese, the salty and savory of the salmon paired perfectly with the crunch, tart and earthiness of the capers, and finishes with the crunch of the crust. Just. Like. A. Bagel but on steroids! From there we also tried the quiche cup that comes with potatoes mixed with onions and peppers. What we found fun about these were that they cook them in cake cups, so they come out looking like cupcakes. You really can mix and match any flavor you want. They have broccoli and bacon or spinach and tomato, but you can add any ingredient like onion or peppers or cheese. We tried the bacon and spinach and added a miracle topping: jalapeno bacon. It was perfectly cooked, crispy, with a slight spice on the end. The perfect mix of smoky, savory, and spice. A must get! They also have a ton of vegan options including the Avocado Flatbread that has Avocado, tomatos, onions, and fresh jalapenos, as well as vegan pancakes with vegan butter! So it's not gonna be hard to pleas me. 2:39 just put our order in; I'm liking everything. The environment, the bartender/host.. it's now 3:31 All in all I would highly recommend checking us out. AMAZING vegan food yet POOR service. We ordered pizza an hour ahead knowing how SLOW they are. Got there and overheard "we made a small not a large" yet the worker blamed it on us for "there is something wrong with your phone" and "well we have like 40,000 tickets, we are REAL busy."
