Urban Rooftops has taken my bare garage rooftop and turned into a luxury urban retreat. Alex designed our dream deck and the Urban Rooftops team then secured the permits and built it. They are also committed to winterizing the deck and getting me set up again the spring. Thanks for making my dreams come to reality.

Fantastic experience with the Urban Rooftops team. We were renovating a home in Wicker Park and we were fortunate to have a decent sized back yard space. It was overgrown and looked terrible but we hired Mike and Urban Rooftops to completely revamp the space. They knocked it out of the park, and did so for a very reasonable cost. The home is now a very successful AirBNB and virtually every guest cites the beautiful and functional backyard space as one of their favorite features of the property. We had Urban Rooftops: - repair, power wash, and stain our three story wood deck - install a new turf yard space - install a hardscapes path from the back parking area to the rear entrance to the home - install a hardscapes pad for a fire pit and seating area - install a firepit with a gas line coming from the home - install a built in grill / outdoor kitchen - install overhead lighting - supply and install all outdoor furniture We could not be more thrilled with the end result, and the quality of work has had a tremendously positive impact on our rental performance and guest experience. A+ work, highly recommend.

Poor drainage configuration, allowing dirty water to flow down side of building from brand new planter boxes.

Preface: I'm not a person who gives bad reviews and I've spent considerable time thinking about whether or not to post this, but ultimately feel it's the right thing to do. Consumers be advised. Unfortunately for us, we did not have a good experience with Urban Rooftops and came across a number of issues while undergoing the build and continue to experience issues after the fact. While I could go into great detail and provide a laundry list of things that occurred, the three biggest blunders are as follows: 1. We were sold a pedestal tile decking system that sits on top of the flat roof membrane. The entire point and advantage to this system is to allow access to the roof below in case of a leak or issue. When they sold us this option, they mentioned that a perimeter would be built around the edge tiles to ensure no movement or slippage as three sides of our roof deck do not meet against the exterior wall. Their solve was instead to GLUE down the tiles. Yes, glue them down to the pedestals. 2. They built and sold us cedar planter boxes that sit on the parapet wall of our rooftop. While these turned out visually beautiful, they were not constructed in a way to ensure drainage was sloped inward towards the roof deck. Instead, dirty water from the soil drains down the side of our white, freshly painted building. After consulting other roof deck companies, they said this is a build error. I am now paying a different company to fix this. 3. Extremely poor communication, lack of empathy or concern for their customer, and increased final invoice costs. Throughout the design phase, we were stood up by our designer more than once. On one occasion, we showed up to their showroom for a scheduled appointment and the entire place was dark. Numerous issues were identified along the course of the build, including poor craftsmanship and rushed work - and not once did we ever receive an apology. Instead it was excuse after excuse. Iron railings rusting after two weeks? Oh it just needs some primer - not to worry. Measuring no less than 4 times and still running out of tile multiple times, delaying completion due to having to order more. Upon final invoice, more than $5k was added due to the "extra scope of work" that consisted of a 5x5 section of tile (25 square feet). They subcontract out everything they do and the workers they send are often unsupervised. There is almost zero oversight provided by Urban Rooftops and the only time I ever saw the project manager was when I'd request a sit visit due to issues being identified. Frankly, a nightmare to work with and I'm worried about issues that likely went unnoticed. Perhaps you have to spend north of $100k to get their best service, but at nearly $50k - I would have expected a much better experience.

We quoted out a few companies and Urban Rooftops hit the mark with the finished product, service, and price. We are extremely happy with the result. Their staff was attentive and professional. When the work was conducted, they made sure to communicate regarding appointments, ensured our house was protected as they walked through, and were respectful. Finally, they were quick to make sure we were 100% satisfied, which we were after a minor update that we requested. Excellent work!

We chose Urban Rooftops based on their stated expertise in design, construction and landscaping - we were looking for a design, to match a budget, that was more focused on adding greenery and landscaping vs. adding physical structures to our space. We were encouraged to learn that Harrison, our point of contact, had his formal education in landscape design and was in fact very knowledgeable around the plant selection, installation and maintenance. Harrison was very patient with us when designing the space - we went through numerous design revisions and to match both our eye and our budget. As the date on this post may suggest, we proceeded with this project during the pandemic, and the Urban Rooftops team was sensitive and accommodating to maximize what was a smaller phase 1 budget - they did not pressure us to bite off more than was comfortable, which we very much appreciated. Our project is nearly complete, and we are quite satisfied - like any custom build, there were follow-ups needed to improve and fine-tune, but they've remained committed to getting it all right, and we're confident they'll stand by their warranties and craftsmanship.

Some of our own pieces and design elements were seamlessly included in the new plans.

Excellent Experience - Highly Recommend! As someone who knew…read moreabsolutely nothing about fencing before starting this project, I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with Americana Ironworks. Here's why they earned my enthusiastic recommendation: Fair and Competitive Pricing: I got quotes from several companies, and Americana's estimate was very reasonable - not the cheapest, but definitely fair for the quality they delivered. No hidden fees or surprise Top-Notch Installation Team: This is where they really shined. The crew that came out was professional, courteous, and detail-oriented. They actually LISTENED when I explained what I wanted, double-checked measurements, and even made helpful suggestions I hadn't considered. When I had a small concern about the gate alignment, they adjusted it on the spot without any fuss. If you're like me and feeling overwhelmed by fence options, contractors, and pricing, do yourself a favor and give Americana Iron works a call. They made the entire process painless and delivered exactly what they promised. Bottom line: Great value, excellent communication, and quality workmanship. What more could you ask for?

We were able to upgrade to the higher end Trex and still pay less than what we would have paid with other companies using a lower tier Trex product. I was almost tempted to go with a more polished company with lots of samples and flyers on hand, but I'm so glad we didn't. Frank was incredibly easy to work with - very timely, communicative, friendly, helpful, and honest. He saved us money where he could and made sure we got exactly what we were looking for. Peter (foreman) and team were very professional, speedy, tidy, and meticulous. We uncovered a rotted support beam and a roofing issue during the deck rebuild, and Frank took care of all that as well with his roofer, and took care of the additional Trex materials that were needed after we uncovered the issues and added to the project. The extra unexpected work only took about an extra week or two to resolve. The team even poured some cement for us to fill in cracked stairs while they were pouring cement to secure the deck posts. All paperwork was handled professionally through their admin contact via email, and Frank was always accessible by phone or text if we had questions. We would definitely use them again and can't recommend them enough!

Short version: Isaiah did GREAT work at a fair price and we are already planning to hire him again…read morein the spring to do some exterior work. Don't spend a lot of time comparing options (like i did). He's the right one - the referral i got was spot on... Photos are from one room (the last one they did) ___The Choice___ After nearly 15 years in our home, we decided it was time to freshen up the interior with a full paint job. I looked around for a few people and got two providers to come in for a quote. Isaiah came recommended from a freind that did a full gut rehab and had a great experience with him. The other was a reco from the house next door after they had a full interior paint job. Isaiah's pricing was much better and more transparent. He actually included one page for each of the 3 floors, with specific details of the work to be done in each area and the price for that room/section. His price was also better than our other option by a meaningful amount. It wasn't cheap, but the proposal was so detailed, I felt like it made sense. It was also easy because he is a responsive communicator and seemed to be "on top of things" when we exchagned notes. __Scheduling__ We gave him a small deposit (20% or so) and decided that we wanted to wait 2 months before beginning work (trips and guests). He put us on the calendar, but life happened. About 2 weeks out, we needed to push back 2 more weeks. He flipped a few jobs and accomodated us - which he didn't need to do. It was a HUGE blessing to us. ___The Work___ We expected it to be a 2 week job, but it took 16 working days (3 weeks + a final saturday) to do the work. The went floor by floor, essentially 1 week at a time. We have a lot of space and needed a fair amount of repair work from water damage and sub-par previous patchwork. We also had a lot of trim to re-paint. Plus, it was our fault: He worked with us on all of that and a few odds & ends that we asked for after he started. It raised the price, but was more than fair and probably screwed up his schedule by a day or two. They were good at the start time every day, which helped (plus or minus 20mins). They wrapped each day at a good time for us too. They also worked clean and covered everything on the floors they were working (the repairs created a LOT of dust). It was typically 2 guys, sometimes 3. Most floors were color matched, with a few changes. ___The results___ We are VERY VERY VERY satisfied with the work Isaiah and his team did in the house. The work was crispy and they were quick to address any last minute quality issues we saw as we inspeted every rooms (lots of them). The repair work was flawless and we're finally back in a "new" looking house. I can't recommend the Isaiah enough.
