We contracted with Solid Remodelers in November 2024 to replace 6 sets of stairs and landings for our condo association. The install went well but several of the step-boards have significant cracks in them, some 2" deep. We did ask if we should wait until Spring to install them, but were assured that the wood would be fine through the winter. The company does have a caveat in the estimate that some shrinkage, twisting, warping, and cracking may occur. We aren't concerned about the numerous cosmetic cracks, but the deep ones are too much of a head start for deterioration and should be replaced. We are being ghosted by Damien after several attempts over the past 30 days to resolve the situation. read more

Our back deck was in need of remove and rebuild. After my wife and I, Contacted a couple builders we settled on Solid Remodeler's Chicago porch Compliance. Daminian Seemed like a fair honest man. So In April of 2020 the work began. From the start things seemed unprofessional! the gentlemen that were here were extremely Flamboyant fearless and out in the open with their Drinking of Vodka along with beer! they threw empty cans in back yard as it was their own personal trash can. I caught one of them urinating into a floor drain and the foot of my back basement door. I let this go as my mind set was completion of the porch and I assumed that a laborer would be here shortly to clean mess that they were making. So the mixing of cement for the posts takes place. The cement bags were tossed all over cement was all over everything yard furniture central air unit etc... the porch in question was being built with nails which was fine contract called for weather proof decking screws but nail guns seemed the easier quicker option! the issues with the nails were every other Nail or lack there of was missing or wasn't being put down. After the porch was completed, between the mess that had become huge the porch itself was unsafe as railings were loose to the touch! The lag bolts to be used were main supports needed them 4 a piece 1 a piece were but in one place 2 were put, the foot boards were just sitting on the stringers no nails were in 2 of them I came home noticed it asked questions was told it was not finished yet I stayed out of way then they were gone said they were done. The huge mess was left old porch was still broken down and present leftover wood or cut pieces just laid in same place that truck driver delivered them. We called and complained the Owner Daminian was out and he to his credit cleaned up mess mind you he was here to get his money! We showed him pieces that were not secured down boards that were loose able to be picked up and removed these pieces were footboards for the steps! Daminian assured us that he would have someone out the following weekend to make all necessary repairs. He collected his money and that was it he never showed back up! We called emailed sent pictures to him along with text messages! Nothing it all fell on deaf ears!!! to this day almost 1 full year has gone by and he or anyone affiliated with his company has came out to make any repairs! It is by far the absolute worst work I have ever had done and I would not recommend him his company to anyone even if the person was my enemy!! He should be ashamed of himself for the way this deck was left! The railing is twisting and will need to be replaced the foot boards are all buckling he has said numerous times he would send or be out but as the time of this review nothing! this is the first time I have ever complained of left a review but I felt it was necessary because even if this helps just one person from being scammed out of his or her money and saves Someone the grief of potential lawsuit from someone being hurt falling on a deck or porch built by this company then I feel I did my due dilligence This is a company that needs to get there employees much better starting with owner co owner whom ever Daminian Wahola is to company!! I defiantly would not recommend this company to anyone at all unless they want terrible half complete work cement splashed all over the place employees drunk pissing on doors into floor drains!!! I was looking to get a quote to replace my front porch. I called and spoke with Damian which it was very knowledgeable and super polite. We scheduled an appointment and he showed up on time. We showed him what we wanted and we told him that we wanted to use costumed balusters and that we where going to provide them. We showed him the ones we had in mind and he said that they had ones that where very similar and he had them in stock. The balusters he had "in stock" where regular flat aluminum balusters and we did not liked them and they where way overpriced. I sent him an email letting him know that we where not interested in those balusters, we wanted ours and I asked him few questions about the size of the balusters and he got back to us with a random answer and never got back to us after we sent him multiple emails asking when he could start the project. I had my Oak Park porch constructed by Chicago Porch Compliance and they used inferior lumber but charged as if quality materials were going to be used. Pillars are now splitting and some pillar were installed with splits and deep knots. Immediately afterwards inspectors and subsequently painters could not believe the poor wood quality. We have received numerous compliments on the design of the porch from neighbors and strangers , when viewed from the sidewalk. We have been asked for the name of the contractor for referral purposes, we have refused to recommend . These people are especially no longer interested when they walk upon the porch and see the poor quality of the material with obvious defects - and not just the splitting. read more

We want to go on the record by saying the Chicago Porch Compliance company is an extremely professional outfit and they built a beautiful rear porch for our Chicago 3-flat. The structure even exceeds code. By adding a massive criss-cross support, Damian and his crew built the porch stronger than the architect's original plan. The iron supports and bolts through the joists make for a solid looking structure. We also have to mention that Damian had to interact several times with our very difficult insurance company. That extra work included phone calls, meetings on-site, and detailed written estimates with the insurance claims adjusters--all at no extra charge to us. It makes no sense that this company agrees to a price, signs permit documents, and signs a contract then refuses to do the work because they underbid. A 2 men crew (2 very competent workers) removed the old porch and built a new one in about 8 days. The final product is beautiful. I am a real estate professional and I have a lot of experience in building ownership, management and repairs. I found Chicago Porch Compliance by doing an online search. The porch was a very tall 3 story with a large roof overhang that is part of the building structure. I obtained a few bids, one of the contractors even declined to bid due to the complexity of the Job. I met Damian at the building. He was knowledgeable, explained the permit and construction method. Within a few days he provided me a comprehensive quote including an architectural plan, the required permit and along with a lot of references. It took about six weeks to get the permit. The demolition crew was 5-6 big guys. The speed in which the old porch came down was impressive to say the least. The crew assigned to build the new porch were amazingly skilled, worked very efficiently and constructed an awesome porch that is built like a fortress.
