I ran out of matcha sometime around Waco. Hubby discovered this place and as we were driving thru OKC decided to restock. 11yo went in with me. He ordered blood orange ice tea which was delicious! I ordered a matcha latte. The woman behind counter was grouchy. She corrected our orders and snapped at us. I left with 3oz of matcha and the two regular drinks totaling $44. Urban Teahouse couldn't have been a more perfect place for hot tea fanatics like me. Urban Teahouse has a variety of different tea products within a reasonable price. As I started to buy more tea products, I realized that some can be really PRICY. Unfortunately, I am not a tea connoisseur, thus cannot tell the difference between cheap vs expensive tea. Fortunately, this saves me money because I only buy reasonably priced tea. One of the coolest thing about Urban Teahouse is that they supply tea for other shops in Oklahoma City such as Prelude Coffee Roasters. 12 oz can last you for a whole year. Cautioned about using tea bags, I found Urban Teahouse to purchase loose leaf teas. The server was very helpful recommending the proper equipment -- and to keep water temp below 175º when heating or you burn the tea -- then general discussion of the tea. The UT tea selection is vast so advance consideration is a wise call. A green tea was suggested and I bought a healthly amount, which I am enjoying. Urban tea house is quite pricey though it was 8 dollars for a 16 oz drink, although their tea leaves are more reasonable and there is a large selection. Currently there is no indoor seating but the inside is small and cute. Because the tea has to be brewed, expect to wait a few minutes for your tea. Service was helpful and informative. read more

I totally understand the public health concern, I'm just sure that the full experience would be great. But, they do have seating outside and it was a gorgeous day, so we didn't lose at all. One of the things I missed the most during lockdown was feeding my regular matcha habit, and FRIENDS, I AM BACK. The staff is wonderful, the owner is wonderful, the treats are delish (they are doing a different flavor right now, but at one point, they had a handheld apple pie, like a legit baby pie, and it was AMAZING). But their matcha lattes are my JAM. I don't like coffee, don't like any other teas, but for whatever reason, I can drink matcha like it's falling out of the sky and I'm in the desert. My tea-obsessed coworker guzzles a variety of teas, I honestly couldn't even name half of them. I know lemon gingersnap is one, and China breakfast is another, but honestly, if you don't know, just ask. They'll help you pick something that you'll enjoy. They no longer do in-store seating, though there's lots of space (and free wifi) in the art hallway. They still have tons of beautiful art that I will buy one day when I win the lottery and have beautiful art walls. Over the summer I was in West Virginia, 1,000 miles away from my many favorite local Oklahoma City things, one being Teahouse. Their caramel black loose leaf tea was tucked in the corner drawer of my desk and it became a morning reminder of home when I went to pour hot water over the tea leaves, waiting for it to brew. I love Teahouse, and not just for their excellent choice and blends of teas. Each tea-ista is kind, knowledgeable about what is in stock, and take time and care in preparing your order. If you've been there even one time they probably still remember your drink and are ready to point you to another direction if you're wanting to try something new. Add a splash of almond milk, and a little bit of honey and you've got it made. In addition to their vast collection of teas, their pastries are just perfectly simple and delicious. The green tea shortbread and chocolate chip cookies make me fall in love over, and over again. The space is nice and airy and the parking isn't too bad. Urban Teahouse was a little tricky for me to find at first and I guess you could say that truly makes it a hidden gem. They have a HUGE selection of teas and different options for milk and sweeteners to use in your teas. The staff was so friendly. As I watched people enter and leave the store, you could see they were well acquainted with some regulars and it gave off a "family" vibe, almost like something you would see on the TV show, "Cheers." My daughter bought my wife a gift certificate for her birthday. Knowing very little about tea (difficult to admit being all knowing), Nour and Kerry (nickname: "tea encyclopedia") led me through the whole ordering process and had me sniffing numerous wonderful teas. I ended up with an Amaretto black latte with non-homogenized milk. Really good! Rebecca got earl gray cream latte with coconut milk. She liked mine better than hers but both were good. I'm not sure when I have ever had milk in tea but the milk wasn't really obvious. I picked Kerry's mind about a lot of tea wisdoms and she was fantastic. She even wrote down the botanical name for a tea plant for me. I will certainly be coming back after all they have over a hundred different teas and I can't imagine better service read more

I fall in the middle, and I've had fun sampling things I already know I like while looking forward to expanding my palette as well. They have french press coffee as well, but I'm happy with sticking to the tea. They have amazing baked goods too, and I cannot recommend their giant vegan cookies enough. You can purchase tea to take home as well, and they do sell all the accoutrements you'd need to make it at home. The people who work there are friendly, and the atmosphere is very chill. This place is a 10/10 always, the only reason it's getting 4 stars and not 5 from me is because honestly the owner is rude every single time I see her. Im not sure why but she just seems annoyed with her own customers and I feel as if I have to overcompensate by being extra kind to keep the energy high and that's just tragic to me. I purchased tea from the shop last week. After my purchase, I asked if they could make me a drink from my tea. The worker informed me they couldn't because of the extra "labor" involved (hot water and a plastic cup?). Kinda lame, but not a big deal. When I got home, I found out she had given me the wrong tea. I called the store and told them about the mistake. They said I could bring it up and exchange it for the right one. I don't live close and asked if they could throw in a extra ounce of tea (a $6 value) for my trouble. Her response was "well, we don't really do a bartering system, but bring it back and I'll exchange it." So, she wanted me to drive back to the store when she made the mistake........... What about my "LABOR & TIME" involved in driving back to the store. I informed her I would not be coming back and this was terrible customer service. A minute later she called back and informed me she refunded me the difference for the wrong tea ($2). Once again, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. No wonder they have closed down multiple stores. read more
