Normally, daily Ethiopian food that's not in the US are vegan, so what is offered here is closer to what's authentically made in Ethiopian culture. I enjoyed pretty much all the dishes I had, and I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants good vegan food. My friends had the awaze tibs, which contained seitan, a high protein meat substitute, and it was seasoned very well, having an adequate amount of spice. I ordered the mushroom tibs, and it was okay, because it tasted as if the only seasoning was salt, and it was a bit dry, which indicated that the mushrooms were overcooked. In addition to such, we had a few veggies on the samplers, including miser, ater kik, gomen, fasolia, and keysir. They all had a good amount of seasoning and in general tasted good with the injera. I would say, though, that they may have all needed a bit more mekelesha, because I have had more vibrant-tasting versions of all of those veggies elsewhere. One thing worth noting was that shiro wasn't one of the options for the veggie sampler, so I had to order a separate portion of shiro, since I considered it necessary when consuming Ethiopian food in general, and it tasted good, in a conventional manner. It seems like per the menu that they have a shiro wot now, which indicates how popular it is among customers.

I was so impressed by the menu at first site. They had some dishes you only find in home cooking or in Vietnam. I tried the Canh Chua and Hot Pot "Fish". I was blown away by the flavors! The atmosphere is quiet and inviting. I was impressed by the whole setting! By the way, excellent portions! I was given a huge bowl of rice to supplement both of my entree dishes. The setting that made the experience always so special, before they move to their residency inside the Guthrie Theater under a new name. I cannot wait to see what they do next. Every dish truly hit it out of the park. From the Three Sisters salad with bison and squash to the fried quail and rich, earthy mushroom soup, each plate showcased Indigenous ingredients and traditions in a way that felt both thoughtful and exciting. This is not your typical dining experience and that's exactly what makes it so satisfying. Even the margarita was a standout: beautifully presented and just as delicious as it looked. I will definitely miss this riverfront location, but I am so excited for their next chapter.

This place totally lived up to the hype, in my opinion!…read more I got the maple pepita latte ($10), sweet potatoes ($18), bison skirt steak tacos ($55), and spoonbread ($15). The latte came garnished with rose petals and was not too sweet. It was a nice way to start my meal. Then came the sweet potatoes, and oh my God, I think they were the best sweet potatoes I've ever had. They were unbelievably, delectably sweet and cooked perfectly. They had an excellent char while being soft on the inside. And the sweetness was complemented nicely by the maple chili crisp, which had just a bit of a kick. The bison skirt steak tacos were also delicious. The bison was so tender and juicy. Full of flavor and cooked superbly. My server wasn't kidding when she said the tacos were big enough to share between a few people. I ate the tacos by myself, and I was beyond stuffed. Alas, I wasn't a big fan of the spoonbread. The flavor wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the texture, which was a little too coarse for me. The dessert was gluten-free, and I could REALLY tell. It was also too spicy for me. The spoonbread was drenched in hot honey. But the sweet potatoes, tacos, and attentive & friendly service more than made up for it. The restaurant isn't cheap (especially for a solo diner), but I've seen worse prices for worse food. And I'm eager to check out their new location the next time I'm in Minneapolis. Note - if you pay with a credit card, it does come with a 3% fee.

I was drawn in by the ambience of the place. It was very cute and urban, practically begging me to sit down. It's an order and pay first style, which took me so long, because everything on the menu looked so good! Due to a bit of confusion, we ended up changing our order multiple times, but our server calmly helped us through each step. I'd like to also take a moment to appreciate that they use no plastic in dishes and boxes too! It's so environmentally friendly! Although it's just slightly on the pricier side, I'd say it's pretty great for a completely plant-based restaurant. My family and I ordered a mac and cheese, Crunchwrap (with fries), chili, a bowl, buffalo cauliflower wings and a cookies and cream milkshake. The buffalo wings came first and they were amazing! They were perfectly sour and a bit of spicy. That really hit the spot! To cool my mouth down, I drank a bit of my milkshake, and I could not stop! The oat milk was so rich and creamy, giving it the perfect flavor and texture. The Crunchwrap had "meat" inside it that was so real I actually got scared! It was such an authentic taste. The chili came with vegan sour cream, and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it was some of the best sour cream I've ever had! It also came with jalapeños which paired perfectly with the warm chili. Finally, the bowl was irresistible. It had crispy tofu on top that made my mouth water. After devouring my meal I ended with crispy French fries that crunched with every bite. One of the best meals I've ever had! Overall, I totally recommend this place no matter what diet you follow!

They automatically charge you gratuity (if you eat in?), which I found a little odd. Maybe it's common locally but I don't enjoy being forced into things like that.
