    Jackfruit fries

What a unique place. The food was really enjoyable, and the passion the peeps who run this place have absolutely shows in the food. Friend and I both got burgers with Gouda and gf buns. The buns were a miss for me, they had a very pancake-y flavor and texture- but the rest of the burger was really enjoyable. The salad was the perfect size and refreshing. The fries were good, I decided I'm not a fav of the bbq sauce they used. But it's always exciting to try a vegan place, and I'm glad we went.

We ate dinner here with a vegan friend and were overall pretty pleased with our experience. Trio serves a plant-based menu but does a really good job of making food that will appeal to meat eaters too. The space itself is small but bright and vibrant with super cool lime green chairs at the tables and lots of awesome art on the wall. The woman behind the counter greeted us and told us to scan the code on the table to view the menu and then come up to the counter. A little wonky but ok. I had the cheeseburger which was totally good. Slightly too much mayo on it (and this coming from me... I love mayo). And the fries were really good but not hot enough. My husband got the chicken sandwich, which he said tasted good but was absolutely drowning in sauce. My friend got the trio sampler and seemed to enjoy it. Fruit lemonade was a nice treat and honestly not as sweet as most lemonades (this is a good thing). Onion rings were AWESOME. My only real complaint is that the food came from the kitchen not all at the same time and kind of in whatever order it came. So all three of us got our food at different times, which made it slightly awkward. That said, there wasn't a huge wait for anything so minor complaint. I would go back, which is the ultimate compliment coming from me for a vegan restaurant. The woman behind the counter also thanked us for coming in as we departed, which I appreciated as well.

Listen. Get in here. We were visiting and staying in a different part of town and it was so worth traveling over. If you're anywhere near the twin cities, just go. We had the onion rings, cornbread and the burger Mac. You think you know what to expect with onion rings and cornbread and these were so much more. The seasonings in the breading of the rings plus homemade ranch and BBQ dipping sauces were amazing. I'm from KC and am so picky about BBQ sauce...and this was a great balance of spice and sweet. The cornbread is savory and also topped with sweet butter. The chili Mac was nostalgic and also something I had never experienced before, with the sweet and umami sauce and BBQ drizzle and salty pickles... We wanted to order more so we could try everything, but also probs best we didn't because the portions were so generous. We will just need to come back. Other pros: plenty of seating, kind folks, and overall chill vibes. Cons: Not in our home state.

Vegan food search her in the St. Paul area provides lots of variety which is not a normal occurrence for me however due to some unexpected circumstances at work I have been here close to 10 days and I am checking out as many wonderful Vegan restaurants as I can Trio surprised me in a great way. The soul food is not lacking flavor or presentation The Mac n cheez with greens and corn bread was excellent Another visit is required to ensure I have another serving of this excellent dish! I also ordered the jackfruit BBQ burrito it was perfect. Not soggy and I ordered it grilled not fried. Trust me it was wonderful I had the large cookie. I was able to share and enjoy this cookie for multiple days Great food, you will not be disappointed

I can't believe I have never eaten at this Vegan-soul food restaurant but I will definitely be back. So much food. So much deliciousness. The atmosphere and service are simple. Seat yourself, order at the counter. This does not detract from the experience. We started with cauliflower wings, which are available in several flavors. We went with the Buffalo style and were quite pleased. We sampled a variety of other menu items including collard greens and vegan Mac and Cheese. Each was delicious, but when combined together each dish complemented the others. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back!

What a very cool concept when it comes to a restaurant. I had the walnut salad (being gluten free) and it was delicious. When you walk in they will seat you at a table. Look over the menu and order at the counter. Then they'll bring the food out to you. Try this adorable restaurant, you won't regret it.

I tried Trio at the Twin Cities Veg Fest this year, and it was delicious! I went to Veg Fest with a vegan friend of mine, and she said she really likes Trio as a plant-based spot. After taking in all the food options at the festival, she went with Trio. We had an order of the Walnut Meat tacos, and I was a little skeptical. I personally prefer something like this over a soy-meat-alternative, but I had never heard of walnuts being sued before. I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely loved the taco - in fact I even forgot to take a picture. It was a small street-taco tortilla with beans, lettuce, pico and a cream-alternative sauce with the walnuts. I loved the crunch from the walnuts and the flavor surprisingly complimented the rest of the taco. I would definitely get this again from Trio!

Food was excellent!!! Service as great. Definitely recommend sampling the all the sides, especially cauliflower, Mac n cheez and cornbread.

Trio serves up some great tasting plant based food options, and they are a black owned business! They make vegan food taste so good! I got the chili mac, which I thought was originally just chili, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw Mac and cheese at the bottom of the bowl! I enjoyed this a lot, and I also had a side of corn bread too. The cornbread is divine! I'm not sure what they put on it to make it sweet, but definitely give it a try. The food does take a while to come out. We were told 30 minutes for our order, so just expect to wait a bit, but the food is well worth it!

I usually don't leave reviews on Yelp unless the place was Smackin! Visiting Minneapolis from California, I didn't feel like roaming neighborhoods for good eats, but I found this gem on DoorDash. Cornbread was going crazy! They need to sell the premade mix. Mac and Cheeze got the job done. And the rib was full of flavor. I lowkey thought I was eating meat. It was jackfruit. I'm saving the greens as a midnight snack, and I'm saving the yams for breakfast. It was a lot of food. Great Job chefs!

It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

He was just an absolute delight! The food here was delicious!! We started with the butter board, that is a MUST! The butters were all flavorful! We only wish they had a little bit more bread! The lemongrass wings had EXCELLENT flavor, a spice that does linger (so if you don't do well with spice, there are not for you) they were a little soggy. Wish they had been crunchy! The steak bites were perfection! No notes! The chimichurri tasted so good with the char in the steak! The wild mushroom fettuccine is a must if you like homemade noodles with a fresh sauce! Comfort on a plate! Everything was so good, we decided to get the Affogodo and Chocolate moose cake! Both were terrific! The chocolate moose cake was moist and wasn't too rich, the toasted pistachios added and extra crunch that is not to be missed! The affododo was smooth, and paired so well with the vanilla ice cream! Overall: 3/5 This spot delivers solid burgers and chicken…read moresandwiches, but in a Twin Cities food scene packed with strong contenders, it doesn't quite rise above the crowd. The portions are generous, the ideas are there, and a few components really work-but the overall experience stops short of being especially memorable. It's the kind of place I'd be fine returning to if someone suggested it, but not one I'd find myself actively craving. Food [1.5/3] The food was good, just not distinctive enough to stand out among the plethora of burger and chicken sandwich options around the Twin Cities. The portions are definitely hearty, which helps make the meal feel satisfying, but several dishes could benefit from bolder seasoning and better balance. A little more acidity, sauce, or brightness would go a long way in cutting through the richness and giving each bite more personality. Bourbon Chicken Sandwich had a tasty glaze with a pronounced bourbon flavor and paired nicely with the pineapple slaw, which added a welcome hit of acidity and fruitiness against the heavier fried chicken. The bun was soft and lightly toasted, and the chicken portion was massive. That said, the chicken itself was under seasoned, leaving the unglazed bites fairly bland. The pineapple slaw was a great idea, but it was used so sparingly that its flavor only came through occasionally. The come back sauce was overlooked by the glaze. Burnt Chicken Sandwich followed a similar pattern: a very large piece of chicken, but not enough seasoning in the breading to carry the sandwich on its own. The herb mayo added some needed depth and helped elevate the flavor, but the layer was so thin that it got lost in larger bites. With a heavier hand on the sauce and seasoning, this could be much more compelling. When dipped into the side of aioli (cost extra), the flavor profiles were much better. Voodoo Smash Burger was overall underwhelming. The voodoo pepper sauce was easily the highlight and gave the burger a strong focal point, but the sautéed onions and comeback sauce were muted, and the smashed patty itself wasn't especially memorable. The first bite was decent, but the flavor didn't build or evolve, making the rest of the burger feel a bit flat. Service [0.5/1] The service was friendly, however, they were doing what seemed to be a midday clean and prep, which made the visit feel less polished. I also ordered a side of aioli for the fries and wasn't told there would be an additional charge. The cost itself wasn't a concern, but if a condiment carries an upcharge-especially one not listed on the menu-it should be mentioned before it shows up on the bill. Atmosphere/Ambiance [1/1] The space itself has a lot going for it. If you stop in for lunch on a Tuesday, you may catch some cleaning and prep activity, but setting that aside, the decor and ambiance are genuinely pleasant. It's cozy, well lit, and has a nicer feel than you might expect, especially for this part of the east metro. With a little more attention to the dining room experience and a stronger flavor punch in the food, this could be a much more memorable neighborhood stop.

All the dumplings had nice side dishes with them, including rainbow slaw, pickles, and whichever sauce we chose, and my personal favorite was the chili oil or the garlic chili aioli, which was surprising because I normally ate dumplings with vinegar back home in China. The golden cloud bites were very authentically made as they reminded me exactly of how "golden buns" (金馒头) were made back home, and the condensed milk was exactly right in terms of what to dip them in. Conversely, I didn't enjoy the bowls as much. The veggie bowl had diverse ingredients but I think having more eggplant would help more because the caramelization can enhance the overall flavor. As for the sambal chicken rice bowl, I personally would prefer sambal rather than the sambal ranch that was included because the two ingredients had different flavors, and sambal itself, rather than sambal ranch, would have given the bowl more vibrantly pungent spice and umami flavors. Since this place has multiple locations, I would recommend one to ensure that their desired dishes are served at the particular locations they are trying to visit. I am just happy about the fact that there is a place like this establishment that serves tasty dumplings, and I would love to return and try some of their sandwiches and burritos.
