Food was delicious, service could be better. We were here on the 4th of July so it was pretty quiet at 8.30 am. Maybe 4 tables. We weren't ready immediately to order so then she took a long time to come back. But the food was really good. Good amount of food too! I wanted to try the ableskiver which is fried pancake balls with apple that you eat with syrup. Yum!!! I also had eggs and bacon. The avocado and smoked salmon were also good. Urbana is a hip, friendly little eatery in the new Hyatt Regency near the Mall of America. The chef came from the Radisson Blu down the street and the quality of the food and the originality of the menu speaks highly of his talents. The Bibb Salad and the Buffalo Pot Roast were two of my favorites. German Chocolate torte for dessert was also outstanding. The wait staff is friendly and the sculptural park out front makes for a surprisingly urbane and welcoming place for breakfast, lunch or dinner literally 7 minutes from the airport via light rail. read more

I thought there was a typo in the title. Nope, that's the correct spelling of the restaurant's name! My group and I were staying here overnight and had literally no other food options other than the mall itself. The menu looked appetizing and the prices were reasonable so we settled for here. They have a display case with some of the desserts, pastries, flatbreads, sandwiches and salads. They all looked so fresh and good. The server was very friendly. I ordered the Fondue Burger with beef as the patty option and sweet potato fries. (For protein, you're offered beef, buffalo or turkey) It was delicious. Very good sized burger with a generous amount of caramelized onions, gooey fondue cheese running down the sides, and a soft bun to go with it. O-M-G, it was great. My only complaint was the patty was a bit dry but the burger was still great. Messy burger too. Yum. Friends ordered the Hot Wings and the Sausage Flatbread, they also enjoyed their food. Even though this restaurant is in a hotel, do NOT hesistate to dine here. The food is great and affordably priced. I will definitely dine here again when business brings me to this hotel. read more

The fact that there is an apiary (honey farm) on the roof makes this place more than an attempt at a cute name, although we just guessed that there was honey in the syrup and waffles for breakfast. The chicken sausage and bacon were unremarkable, the eggs over easy were well prepared. Latke was fine, not sure if it's worth the trouble when crunchy hash browns are so good. Ricotta waffles w corn meal and lemon ricotta was "quite lovely" in the words of a pancake zealot. The soundtrack playing overhead had a shopping mall flavor to it. Quiche with the latke crust was a big hit. French toast used very hearty bread and a frosted flake and sunflower seed topping. Finally went for breakfast! The breakfast menu is enormous and will take me a year to try it all! I started at the top and had the Buttermilk Aebleskiver (Scandinavian Ball Pancakes). Mmmmm mmmmm.. so beautiful to look at and even better to eat! Service still SUCKED. It always does, but I have learned to lower my expectations before going so I'm only slightly annoyed when I go refill my own water and coffee or walk my credit card to the hostess stand to pay (after waiting 25 minutes for her to come get it) and being told only the wait person serving you can take your money. Best restaurant I've ever found inside a hotel! Amazing food with mind blowing flavor using lots of local and organic ingredients. From venison meatballs to gourmet burgers to local walleye, everything here is great. Portions reasonable, not too small but not big either and with this level of quality it doesn't matter. A little pricey but given you'd pay nearly as much or more for far less quality over at any of the chain restaurants near Mall of America it's worth it. read more

When we first put this in our GPS we did not know that it was in a hotel. I would say that was probably the one thing I didn't like...but it did mean that we got seated right away as it wasn't super busy. We sat outside and there was a significant amount of noise from planes taking off, but not a big deal. Food was really great. We had the quiche and the fondue scramble. I really enjoyed everything. Service was ok--not great not bad. The waiter seemed like he may have been a little new and he didn't seem very sharp about the menu. Overall a good experience. read more

This is a hotel situated restaurant so the ambience isn't much. Don't let the setting fool you though. We dropped in for brunch and wowza!! Those pancake balls are delicious. If you love the crispy bits of pancakes, this will hit the spot. Fluffy in the middle with soft apples and crispy edges. The eggs, bacon were perfect although not unique. We liked our lemon ricotta cornmeal waffles. It was delicious but dense. Two was enough, three was overkill. Coffee is decent, which is better than most breakfast/brunch places can claim. I had Father's Day dinner reservations here on Sunday, June 17. I made the reservations through Open Table. When we arrived at the "host stand" in the hotel lobby and I told the host that we had a reservation, she was incredibly confused. Apparently the dining room was closed that evening so we were seated in the marketplace. This was not what I was expecting for our father's day dinner and didn't seem to get a good explanation or an apology from the host or the guy working the marketplace. We ordered three items off the sharing menu- the meat & cheese board, gouda fondue and dirty sweet potato fries. The meat & cheese board was a good assortment but I wish it was bigger. The gouda fondue was grainy but I'm not sure if that's a gouda issue or a kitchen issue. The "lefse chips" that came with it were heavily deep fried and was hard to tell whether it was actually lefse or not (I was really excited about that being on the menu and let down when we got it). The dirty sweet potato fries were quite tasty but the cheese/mushroom topping kind of all stuck together in a big blob which wasn't super appetizing. The honey lemonade from the rooftop bees was lovely and sweet. The rooftop lemonade with basil and vodka was disappointing and tasted like a cheap vodka lemonade you'd get at any dive bar. We ordered the bourbon creme brulee and German chocolate torte to share for dessert- these were definitely the best parts of our meal. Overall the food was good but probably not something I'd return for due to the service and the issue with our reservation. read more

A very pleasant surprise having a restaurant at my hotel (Hyatt) that had some excellent food. Don't be put off by the "market" when you walk in. There's actually a sit down restaurant in the back. I had the walleye cooked with a wild rice topped with some wilted greens and accompanied by fingerling potatoes. I thought the whole thing was excellent. Service was great. Menu choices were not just your "usual" fare. And, it was convenient! Oh, and somehow I talked myself into a princess torte dessert, which was awesome. read more

After my business flight was "delayed" until the following morning, the airline put us up at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Hungry and peeved, my business associate and I decided to try the Urbana since it was in the hotel. We didn't have high expectations as it was late on a Thursday night. He ordered a burger and I had the smoked chicken salad on the server's recommendation. His came with sweet potato fries and he said it was great. The salad was over-the-top amazing. It had avocado, beets, fresh, flavorful salad greens without a hint of iceburg lettuce, tender and juicy chicken, and it was dressed perfectly - not too much, not too little. As a bonus, there were what I would call cookie shards in the salad as well. Like a ginger molasses cookie. Sounds strange, but it worked! Would definitely eat here again and recommend anyone try. read more

Went with friends for a birthday lunch. Couldn't have been more disappointed with the food and service. We ordered two different kinds of quiche. All were lukewarm at best. The broccoli quiche had large chunks of uncooked broccoli. The service was very slow even though we were the only table in the restaurant. It took about 15 minutes to get four bloody marys. The checks took longer because the same waitress was waiting on a private party in a different room. The ambitious menu seems to be mismatched with the skills in the kitchen. I'm jealous of those giving five star reviews - wish I could say I had the same experience. I ordered the Roast Chicken & Brie Croissant. The server sat it down and I immediately thought it was unappetizing but thought I would give it a chance. There was a huge amount of brie and the chicken was not the best but I mean that was my own taste so I stuck with it. A few bites in I hit something hard... it was a chicken bone the length of my ring finger. Told the server, she told me she would tell the kitchen. Left me with the plate and the bone. I picked through and found rock hard pieces of... something so I pulled those out. The server came back and asked for the bone... I gave it to her, she left the plate still. We asked if I could order something else... honestly, I didn't want to eat anything from the kitchen so I looked in the bakery case (probably came from the kitchen too but whatever). We ordered pumpkin cheesecake (pretty good!) and creme brulee. Unfortunately, the creme brulee was laughable. The custard was completely liquid and the sugar on top had been burned. We each took one bite and spit it out. I feel like the menu/price of this place doesn't match the quality of the food and the service. So misleading. read more

I wandered over here to try lunch and it was just ok. The drink was nothing special. My plate looked fairly sloppy. The tastes were basic and just seemed like a bunch of stuff piled on a plate. The food was very disappointing:( It tasted like they used a lot of margerine that they smeared on everything. The red cloth chairs were filthy. Our waiter had no personality and we couldn't hear what he was saying. Unfortunately we paid for a meal that we left 3/4 on the table. Fresh food fast in a really easy location with free parking. Business breakfast and lunch are really good here. You can have a conversation and hear each other. Been there for drinks after work and that was great at the outside patio (obviously in Summer/Fall only). I highly recommend it for a quick, quiet and easy business meal. read more
