Not only was I incorrectly scheduled on a day reserved for laser surgery (I was having standard surgery), but my lens selection was wrongly noted. Thank goodness we went over the procedure before a surgical mistake was made. Then there is the billing Assistant who works from home but confessed she did not know how to use the 'work' phone purchased for her; especially troublesome since work-at-home requires communication with the outside world. Then I noticed while on the Patient Portal, my husband was not listed as the designee for life/death decisions; instead another patient (including phone number) was listed. When I called him, he was surprised/amazed....never heard of me, let alone knew he would be required to make such decisions on my behalf. As I said before, Dr. Thadani is a competent and personable surgeon, but if you choose this practice for service, make sure they dot all the i's and cross all the t's. Your peace of mind requires extra diligence on your part.

I walked into an "optician" shop not too far from downtown Frederick - and they only did glasses, but said they'd made plenty of referrals and got back plenty of raves for the eye exam by Dr. John. Sure enough, Dr. John not only gave me the exam, he gave full explanation of everything he was doing, including checks for health issues not directly related to vision (did you know they can spot early indications of diabetes, MS, kidney issues, and more from an eye exam??). Dr. John also answered lots of questions and worked through various scenarios on how I'd actually use the glasses (e.g. computer screen, skiing, whatever), to come up with a good solution. Plus it's no fuss - the exam fee includes all my follow up visits while I'm trying out some contacts. Recommended.

Then the emails and phone calls started, harrassing me to cancel my appointment that the opthamologist would not be seeing me. I asked to speak to the office manager and she didn't answer her phone (I made 7 attempts over 2 days), so again, poor service. Find some where, any where else to go. This is not a quality office.

There was another couple in the store, and he managed to be equally attentive to all of us. He quickly found my glasses, had me try them on, complimented how they looked, and offered to make adjustments. It fit perfectly, so no adjustment needed. Overall, the staff here are knowledgeable, welcoming, and professional. They accept my current insurance, and this location is conveniently close to my home. My only wish is that they had a larger selection of frames and brands to choose from, but otherwise a good experience!

The last time I got glasses I had tried progressives and they didn't work (dizziness and hard time adjusting) so I had them changed to distance only. This time when I saw the doctor, she tested me for distance but saw no need to test me for close vision/reading. I asked why because I wanted my reading prescription as well as distance prescription. She said she didn't have my reading prescription history so there was nothing to compare against to see if my eyes were weaker or not. I wasn't sure what my prescription was and asked her to test me for it. We went back and forth for five minutes until she turned around and said she found my reading prescription in the Allegany Optical system and we could use that to compare to see if I had the same prescription or if I needed an updated one. Why avoid testing me for reading glasses?! I finally got the prescriptions and needed to leave to get back to work. While I was waiting for the copay to be charged I was encouraged by the staff to look at frames. When I told her not now because I was in a rush, she proceeded to tell me about the added perks to using them with my insurance ($200 credit for lens and frames, etc). I had made it clear I was not interested and needed to *go*. Overall I had a very disappointing experience even though they were courteous about using voice to text translation on the iPhone to communicate w me because I am deaf and usually depend on lipreading.
