I've stopped here twice in the last year during road trips down to SoCal. Always prefer something independently owned than the chain places. The salads are fresh, great dressings and plentiful. The sandwiches are really good, the veggie sammie is excellent and honestly half of what makes it so good is their fresh baked sandwich bread. I think it's focaccia-ish, and lightly seasoned. Foods good! Most menu items around 8 bucks. It's usually busy so not a good place if you're in a hurry. It's menu style sandwiches (think Stoneoven) with a mixed greens house salad as a side. Salads fresh and lightly dressed. After you order the wait isn't too long. Only downside is the restaurant size, its kind of tall but cramped seating area. Not a large group type of place but I guess it's ok because it's a "café" duh lol read more

The BBQ chicken sandwich had pretty good flavor, and the side salad with balsamic and feta was tasty but maybe a bit too sour for my tastes. The bread is made fresh and is pretty tasty. As far as healthy eating and great sandwiches (my favorite food group) go, this is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Valencia. I am a huge Urbane Cafe fan! I used to be able to eat the whole sandwich and salad on my own, but I think my stomach shrunk because now I only eat half and I get full. I've tried everything on the chicken sandwich menu and I love all of them! It's great that they serve the sandwich with salad. It doesn't feel heavy; maybe it has to do with the salad using vinegar, olive oil, and mandarin oranges to flavor it. It's a good combination with the sandwiches. A much-needed source of fresh, healthy foods in the Santa Clarita Valley. My salad was fresh, with a lovely mix of avocados, softened pears, pecans, goat cheese, and turkey. The tomato bisque soup was savory and served at the perfect temperature. Kiddies and hubby loved their food; we ate outside in the shade of a lovely day. Delicious spot for a sandwich on freshly made bread. My fave is the Chicken Pesto & Sundried tomato but I usually sub for fresh tomato. I prefer the soups but not a fan of the $2.50 charge to sub for salad. Great soups so far are the artichoke bisque, lemon chicken quinoa, and the corn chowder. Very small location w/ limited seating so I usually opt for take out. The food here was so tasty and fresh. This was a random stop on the way to LA I wished they had these everywhere. We stopped on our way back home too. I had the kale quinoa salad with cilantro vinaigrette it was great. The second time I had a grilled cheese sandwhich which was great and not your traditional grilled cheese. First time here tonight. This place is fantastic! Definitely coming back. I had the Turkey Cranberry Brie sandwich and it was nothing short of amazingly delicious. Cranberry chutney, just the right amount of Brie and a generous amount of perfectly prepared turkey on fresh baked focaccia bread. All sandwiches come with a house salad that is no ordinary salad. Mixed greens, mandarin oranges, and a great vinaigrette type dressing. I got chips with it but could have done without since the sandwich and salad were so filling. Coming back soon!! I was excited to see the variety of salads offered at Urbane Cafe. I can't rememeber the exact name of the salad I ordered, but it was "southwesternish" (packed with ingredients such as cilantro and corn & black bean salsa). What I ended up with was very disappointing. At the heart of the salad was shredded lettuce (the kind ususally served on sandwiches). This made it very difficult to eat. The cilantro chicken was flavorless, as was the corn & black bean salsa and the flat bread with which it was served. How something with cilantro can be flavorless still perplexes me. On a high note, the balsamic vinegarette was mighty tasty. I used it for the salad and as a dipping sauce for the bread. Needless to say, my salad fell short from what was advertised on the menu. read more

A nice small sandwich/salad shop in Valencia. I went with a coworker for lunch and ordered the So-Cal sandwich. The first thing I noticed was the freshness of the bread and the second thing was the nice little kick in the chipotle sauce. The avocado gave the sandwich a nice fresh taste. The side salad is a nice touch and helps round out a satisfying yet healthy meal. In addition, everything was very well priced! I will definitely be returning often. read more
