I recently ordered 3 arrangements from UrbanStems. After a total of 19 emails I learned from an honest gal that they were having problems with their website which was why the two vases ($12.00 each) were not going to be included. Prior to corresponding with her via email, several employees told me I must have "forgotten" to check the box to order the vase...that was infuriating. I tried to cancel....they just couldn't seem to get that done. My third order was never even picked up on their computer system. The flowers I ordered for my husband appeared to be DOA, with one rose having fallen off the stem. The stems were not cut on the diagonal which every florist should know to do so the flowers can absorb more water and last longer. I found a tall skinny ivory teapot, cut the roses on the diagonal, removed all the leaves, filled the pot with some water and added my own plant food. They did seem to perk up a bit. I changed the water and added more food today. I don't expect them to last as long as they should and I was told I will receive a refund for both arrangements in about 10 days. We'll see. My husband's granddaughter in another state, after I was told twice that the order was cancelled, will receive them sometime today, which is what happened after I cancelled my husband's order. We'd already ordered another arrangement from a different website. I will NEVER order from this website again. The prices are way too high (besides I LIKE peruvian lillies a lot. What a great experience with UrbanStems all around! The ordering was great. I love how I could add "extras" to my order which I did for my wonderful wife for Valentine's Day. The order was promptly delivered to her office and she immediately texted me - but not until I had received an email from UrbanStems first alerting me to the delivery. I could see having more fancy and varied card options in the future but that is least concern for me. Anyway, flowers were tremendous and variety was definitely something that my local florist is not capable of putting together. And forget about Safeway or Giant. They are good for cans of soup and not bouquets of flowers! Definitely would do it again and in fact used the calendar feature to set up reminders for birthdays, anniversaries and next V-Day. DO NOT USE THIS "SERVICE"!! We were recipients of a thank-you bouquet. We have cut flowers in our house at all times and therefore have a very good basis for comparison. 1. The flowers come in a tight "bunch," stuck into some damp paper tower to keep them "fresh," then stuck into a cardboard box. They do NOT arrive properly hydrated. 2. The selection of flowers is not pretty -- all inexpensive varieties. 3. They are dead by the third day. 4. In a more recent delivery, the delivery man just dumped the box on the porch without waiting to verify that anyone was home. We were on the other coast. Flowers were totally dead upon return. 5. The delivery man took a close-up photo of our front door and locks (a security risk) and then sent that via text to tell us that he had left the flowers. We texted back to say we were gone. The company made no effort to rectify. Moral: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FLORIST AND MAKE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO WHOM YOU SEND FLOWERS HAPPY TO HAVE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS! WOW, I rarely write reviews, and I just had to share my personal experience with UrbanStems. I received the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and it is 106 degrees here in Phoenix! The packaging is creative and fun, but the flowers are gorgeous! I have mixed reviews of UrbanStems. The quality of the flowers is better than most if not all flower companies out there. My girlfriend loved them! My only complaint was the delivery. The delivery was late even after scheduling an extra day in for any delivery issues (which they recommended). When it is a special occasion, you expect on time delivery, or it appears that you forgot the occasion. Luckly, my girlfriend knows I do not forget much. UrbanStems customer service is outstanding, and they credited me for the mistake. I would highly recommend them for the quality of their product but would be hesitant on delivery issues if that matters to you. For the record, FedEx picked up the flowers and delivered them next day and the issue was 100% on UrbanStems getting them out the door on time. I've been a loyal and frequent customer since they first came on the scene, even purchasing flowers from the NY outfitters for my sister who lives in Manhattan. I've also been on the receiving end of Urban Stems, after friends of mine to whom I've sent flowers realized it's my favorite birthday or pick-me-up gift. They know me well, and it feels great to spread the good word on Urban Stems to my circle of friends. Today, I took the final step in fandom and purchased a wreath for myself. Purchase was easy as always. Delivery window was 9-11 am, so coming up on 10:54 am I started panicking because I needed to leave for work. I emailed customer service a worried note asking about ETA. I received an email literally right as the bike courier was pulling up a minute later and was told the courier was arriving shortly. The email exchange was friendly, polite, and warm. The courier was also extremely friendly and wished me a happy holiday; he could probably tell how excited I was to receive the wreath! I started opening the box and smelled the distinct pine aroma that reminds me of Christmas. The wreath was gorgeous and exactly as I hoped, with a sweet little silver Dino/Succulent holder, which I plan to keep in my window sill after the holidays are over. My husband ordered flowers from Urban Stems to be delivered to my office on Valentines Day. He called me several times during the day to ask if "anything unusual had happened". When hours had gone by with nothing "unusual" to report, he finally told me what he was up to. I was really excited because I've never received flowers at work before, and wasn't expecting them because I knew my husband was planning to cook a beautiful dinner for me that evening. I was bummed that the surprise was ruined, but SO PUMPED that flowers were coming! Except - they didn't come. At all. All day. Valentine's day night, after picking up some other, very lovely flowers for me, my husband cancelled the order from Urban Stems and requested a refund. It was a bummer, but we had a great night and just made a mental note to never, ever use Urban Stems again. Whatever, NBD. But then... The next day, I got a call from a flower delivery guy from Urban Stems asking where my office was. He had the address (and I work in a well marked government building) but somehow was nowhere close. I gave him directions and he said he was on his way. I then called my husband to ask what was up, since he had canceled the order. He said he'd follow up with the delivery guy, and that Urban Stems had sent out an email to him and a bunch of other people who had paid for flowers to be delivered on Valentine's day saying they basically screwed up and were sorry, etc, etc. My husband then called the delivery guy to find out what was happening (neither of us wanted to pay for day-late flowers). The guy told my husband that he was sorry for the mix up and would be happy to deliver the flowers to me at work and also to refund us for the cost. We thought that was really nice, and very good customer service to resolve a pretty ridiculous screw up. My husband accepted and asked that the flowers still be delivered. They never came. So, for those of you keeping track at home, this was the second day in a row that I waited around and was really excited about flowers that were to be delivered, and for the second day in a row they did not come. I wouldn't have even bothered with a Yelp review if the screw up had been limited to Valentines day, but when the company acted like they cared about their screw up, offered a solution, and then screwed that up to - I felt I needed to alert anyone else even considering using this company for their flower delivering needs. Last year, my children sent me flowers from Urban Stems for Mother's Day and they were not satisfactory. Quite a few of the flowers were dead on arrival. My daughter contacted Urban Stems, and probably sent them a photo of what they delivered. US sent a new bouquet which was attractive. For some reason, the kids sent me flowers from US again this year. Once again, they were absolutely unacceptable. The carnations were dead, a ranunculus was hanging down instead of smiling at me, a peony looked awful, and most of the roses were shopworn and clearly headed for the garbage the next day. Most of the filler flowers looked like they were headed for the trash heap as well. The foliage had large brown spots on some of the leaves. I told my daughter to ask for a refund and not bother with having US another bouquet sent. She did get a refund, but I am really disappointed. Two of my children live 2500miles away, and it would have been nice to have had beautiful flowers for Mother's Day from them to mark the occasion, as they can't be here with me. My children made the effort to think of me, but US sent me garbage. First time buyer from UrbanStems. I was excited when I viewed the website as the arrangements looked very pretty. I ended up buying "The Capri" arrangement for my mom for mother's day, and I was extremely disappointed. For a boquet that costs almost $100, some of the flowers were browning or wiliting, and other flowers were picked before there was a bloom. I had to buy a floral arrangement from a local flower shop (for a different reason), prior to receving my order from UrbanStems. The local shop had much more healthly-looking, fresh-picked flowers, and it was $30 cheaper. The arrangement I purchased from the local shop, several days prior to receiving my order from UrbanStems, still looks freshly picked in comparision to UrbanStems order that I received today. The UrbanStems arrangment looks liked it was picked days ago. It is no excuse that it was a holdiay. I expected much more out of this company. I learned my lesson from buying flowers online, and I would recommend going local before buying from UrbanStems. After reading a recommendation about Urban Stems in the NY Times, we had two experiences with Urban Stems, one good and the second bad. The first time we ordered flowers, they arrived timely and our friend said they were wonderful. The second time we attempted to order flowers, Urban Stems' website said our credit card was rejected. We tried another credit card and that card also was rejected. We finally determined that Urban Stems was using as our billing address the address of the first person to whom we had sent flowers. After all this time, we decided not to continue to place the order. Then we saw that Urban Stems had processed a charge to our credit card even though the website said our card had been rejected. We called Urban Stems and the rep just told us we had to call our credit card company. Our credit card company later advised us that the charge was being reversed by Urban Stems, but the company would monitor it and advise us. When a company messes with our credit cards, we're through with them. Since we didn't complete the order the second time, our credit card should never have been charged. Our recommendation is to not use Urban Stems. read more
