The flowers not only arrived dead, frozen solid and wilted, but there was a CONGRATULATIONS card from another family. What type of business is this? The shipment thru Fedex was as promised- DC to Chicago in 2 business days. I have ordered from Urbanstems before, the last order I had was alright, sadly this one is worse. I got a bouquet delivered for my mother for mother's day and it just was not the same as was pictured. Urbanstems is more expected than other more run-of-the-mill florists like 1-800-flowers etc. So for the extra money, you hope to get something unique, sadly the bouquet that got delivered looked like I picked it up at the grocery store. I received Urban stems for mothers day. The flowers were tired, brown or petals on roses, broken stems on several stems. My son sent 3 bouquets , me his wife and mo in law. All 3 were equally disappointing. The company sent free replacement today. It was slightly better. Several Broken stems . I would not buy from this company. I might be spoiled. Last year I received 12 flower orders, 1 a month that shipped from Bogata. No broken stems and they looked florist fresh. Urban Stems try but not very fresh and several broken stems. I ordered UrbanStems for Valentine's Day, delivery between 1 and 5 PM. At 5:40, still no flowers. I called and emailed, and got a mass email saying they were a bit backed up. A bit after 7, still no flowers, so I emailed again. No response until 8:30, when I got an mass email saying they still expected it to arrive that night, but they were issuing a full refund. OK, better late than never. They did not arrive. 10 AM on Saturday I got an email just to me, confirming the refund, and stating that the flowers would be delivered on Tuesday the 18th. They did arrive Tuesday evening, a bit before 7, so four days and two hours late. That is an insane, totally unforgivable screw-up, to deliver Valentine's Day flowers four days late, and to be so unresponsive. I will never ever order anything from UrbanStems again. There are plenty of great florists in the DC area. For what it's worth, the flowers were very nice, but definitely on the small side for $80. read more

0 stars if I could! Do yourself a favor, and forget about UrbanStems. I came across a blog post from a bride who used UrbanStems as a way to ask her bridal party to be a part of her special day. After reviewing the post many times, I was sold! I was so excited to have this be the way I asked my own dearest friends to be in my bridal party. Unfortunately, UrbanStems completely disappointed me. I will never be ordering from them again, and will do my very best to make sure anybody who thinks about ordering from them, is discouraged. 1) I received an email the day before delivery saying that an inbound shipment of the bouquet I ordered (specifically for this occasion, I wanted all white, so I ordered the Buttercream bouquet) was delayed, the on-hand bouquets were already spoken for, and that they wouldn't be able to do a Buttercream for 1/4 of my orders. They offered a free "upgrade" to a different Bouquet, which I was unhappy with. I emailed asking if they would be willing to upgrade to Peonies instead because it was a good second choice for the vibe I was trying to go for (and the same price as the offered "upgrade". Apparently, it was too late. I was upset at the comment that the "on-hand bouquets were already allocated" because I placed my order well in advance, I feel like priority should have been given in chronological order. They offered a 25% refund, which I did not feel was enough, but decided to drop the issue and just be done with the interaction. 2) All 4 of the bouquets I had ordered had significant browning when delivered. They were also a little wilted and barely had enough stems to make the bouquets look half-decent. For how expensive they were, you would think they would look like all their marketing pictures or at least a nice arrangement. 3) One of the bouquets (not the replacement) did not look at all like the pictures on the website or the other bouquets of the same style that was delivered. 4) None of the notes were handwritten, which is not a huge deal but added to the disappointment. UrbanStems brags about their handwritten or AI handwritten notes, and these notes were clearly just a basic font from a printer. The cherry on top was that after multiple back and forths with customer service, being told that all of my deliveries had passed quality review, among other assurances from UrbanStems about why they were in the right, they refused to refund my order. Eventually, they offered a less than 20% refund and at this point, I just hope that my review, comments on social media, and efforts to reach out to their influencers, convince people to go elsewhere for their flower delivery needs. The bottom line is that UrbanStems is extremely OVERPRICED and the flowers that do get delivered are POOR QUALITY. UrbanStems is NOT worth the money, headache, or disappointment. They ruined what was supposed to be a sentimental experience for me and my bridal party. Absolutely ruined it. read more

She received about 8 other bouquets and mine was by far the smallest and most pathetic. For $70 I expected far better. I put the bouquet next to one from 1-800 flowers which from my brief Google search, cost less. Yes, the big beautiful bouquet behind the tiny one was cheaper. They weren't rotten but they weren't blooming hardly at all when received and they never did! They just died in that tiny, pathetic state. I didn't even bother contacting them but I was angry. This happened nearly 3 years ago, and I still remember this incident often, it was that bad. Do not give them your money if you value the person you're giving the flowers to. Oh and the bouquet didn't even look the same as the pictures online!! I was mostly upset by the quality and size of the flowers. I'm deployed overseas for a year with the military and wanted to do something nice for my wife, who's bearing the brunt of it. I checked out a bunch of online options and went with UrbanStems, partly because they were local to the DC area (though we live outside the city so it was still overnight shipping instead of delivery). My wife was home when they arrived, so they didn't sit outside. Some of the flowers were tight buds (a good thing to maximize the life) but ominously the edges of the rosebuds were brown, and all of them were limp. They revived somewhat in the vase but were never robust looking, but some of the roses never opened and the bouquet ended up only lasting two or three days, a big disappointment, especially for the price which was the highest of the companies I was looking at. My wife did like the colors and arrangement very much. After I filled out the feedback form noting my concerns, I heard nothing from the company. There just seems to be a general lack of concern about customer service with UrbanStems. I'll be trying FarmGirl next; they really seem to have a distinctive product as well. read more

My experience with Urban Stems was great! I made my purchase before reading the Yelp reviews so waiting for my mom's Mother's Day gift was nerve racking to say the least. In the end I was highly impressed with the quality, presentation, and delivery of her Orchid + planter/vase. I don't usually write reviews, but with all the negativity they seem to get on Yelp, I thought I'd send some positive vibes their way. -Backstory: Mothers Day 2020, I wanted something that would last a little bit longer than flowers for the price, so I went with the Orchid. Plus, the vase was included in the purchase and it came potted (whereas the flowers it seems you have to buy separately). I don't live in DC so I was worried about delivery to a Chicago apartment. I also read reviews where the wrong personalized note was sent with the package. I ordered it to be delivered a few days before Mother's Day because I didn't want to hear about it if it was late (wink). Urban Stems updated me via email and text all through the process of when it was shipped to delivery. I was also able to track it via the carrier. It ended up arriving a day earlier than scheduled (all the merrier!) and in great condition, with the correct card. The orchid arrived super fresh with a good bloom and with lots of flowers ready to open. I also liked that they sent care instructions with the plant because my mom is not one to have to go online to read how to care for it. I have been disappointed twice with the service from UrbanStems. The first time my husband surprised me with flowers because he had been deployed for 8 months during the hurricane in Puerto Rico. The second time, was today for Valentine's Day. Both times the flowers were absolutely horrible. I don't understand how a flower company can be in business delivering the type of flowers in the condition that they were in. I ordered flowers several days ago to be delivered to my daughter for her birthday today. I received shipping info that the flowers were on the truck at 8:05am this morning. The flowers were delivered at 2:35pm this afternoon. That means they sat in a delivery truck in 95 degree weather for over 7 hours. Then, instead of ringing the doorbell, the driver dropped the flowers into the secure delivery box. My daughter was home to receive the flowers, but the driver just dumped the flowers into the box. The flowers baked in the box for several more hours before being found, crushed under another delivery and wilted. When I contacted customer service to see what could be done to make this right, I was told that the drivers aren't required to get a signature. This site has nice flowers, but this is NOT the site to use for a gift. It's a DIY type of flower delivery. I ordered two arrangements in the same week, and both were delivered via FedEx in a box, with the flowers NOT in water, in hot weather, with no signature required, and in a plastic bouquet like you would buy at the grocery store. I bought $100+ arrangements expecting them to be delivered in the vase already arranged, but that was not the case at all. I ended up being at my recipient's home and spent 30 minutes arranging the $100+ delivery from Urban Stems. Totally unacceptable from a high-end, costly flower delivery! Also, the vase was a separate cost. And the flowers were not delivered in water?!? Overnight?! And the day after I arranged the flowers, they began wilting. My mother is retired but has been in the flower business for over 20 years so over the years I have had many interactions with flower boutique owners, suppliers, and trades across the states. I spent about 100+ dollars for a single bouquet delivery in San Francisco area for a wedding gift. I wanted to give this company a try as it seemed large and many ok reviews (which personally am doubtful are legit at this point). The delivery was delayed 2 days, when it arrived the arrangement looked so sad and shabby, half the flowers died after 2 days, and overall it looked nothing like the vibrant photos shown on the website. I was really embarrassed and ended up having to buy the bride and groom another gift. I rarely give 1 star reviews but I cannot recommend this company to anyone. I loved the fact that I was able to take a fresh flower home from the event, and raved about it all night. Now, I would like to think that my boyfriend remembered how impressed I was by them and allowed that to lead him to recent purchases. But knowing him....probably not. My first official bouquet of flowers was sent on Valentine's Day. And what started out as an annoyance, ended in pure delight and giggles. I get a phone call from a random New Jersey number. Don't recognize it-don't answer it. I immediately get a text message from the same number from someone attempting to complete a flower delivery. I love flowers!!!! The gentleman on the other end had already tried my doorbell and was calling to try to figure out the best way to complete the delivery while I was still at work. With my apartment complex being totally unaccommodating ::eye roll:: I had to rush home (which was only a 5 minute car ride). And it was definitely worth the fuss. My roses were so fresh and so beautiful. Fast forward (or flash back) to last month when the boy surprised me with another bouquet from UrbanStems. Which means he not only cares, but also that the ordering process is relatively simple :-). Same product quality and superb customer service! It honestly pains me to write this review, because I've been a die-hard fan of UrbanStems since they were first starting out in DC. Unfortunately, I've watched a steady decline in the quality of both bouquets I've sent and received. A few months ago, I received a bouquet of a bunch of mediocre flowers stuffed into a far-too-small vase (which costs an extra $10, or it did at the time). It ruined the flowers, not to mention the presentation. I hoped it was a one-time oversight, and didn't mention it to the sender. Then, about 10 days ago, for my birthday, a friend sent me a bouquet of an arrangement of what appeared to be assorted roses, but they were in such bad shape it was hard to be certain. The majority of the petals were wilted or just plain dead, and they all had distinctly different stem lengths, causing them to lean over, looking ragged and already smelling like mushy dead roses that have been sitting around for way. too. long. Ew. Talk about disappointing. A lone drugstore rose would have easily rivaled this mess. I wish I could say it had been a fluke, but based on the pictures/in-person viewings of bouquets I've sent others and the ones I've received in recent months, I'm now forced to look into finding another go-to flower delivery service... read more

My daughter purchased a subscription for me as a gift. I receive a bouquet each month. Unfortunately, the quality of the flowers is consistently poor. They generally arrive already looking wilted and browning. After two days they are ready for the trash. I called once to complain and was told my daughter would receive a one month refund (that never happened) and they would check with quality control to make sure future bouquets were fresher. There was no improvement. I feel terrible my daughter basically wasted her money trying to do something so nice for me.
