We were overwhelmed by the business aspects of our previous vets...never really a personal relationship of any kind and we were looking for a doctor we could feel truly knew our pet and actually, us. What a difference. We went in just to meet and greet and to have our geriatric dog's anal glands checked. This vet actually touched our dog. In fact, he was leaning down to her while she was on the floor and he was all over her, checking her from head to toe, literally. Our other experience did not include anything but x rays, ultra sound, bloodwork, but no real physical exam. For each procedure we were presented with a price list and had to sign that we were responsible for whatever charge. We had multiple 'bills'. Yipes, we were worried sick about our dog and it seemed more like a darn factory. Very cold. Today, we finally had the personal touch and felt the Vet was more like a concerned, highly skilled person who actually cared about our old dog. We are so grateful to know we now have her in good hands where a thorough check of her health gives us confidence. The doctor also demonstrated how we could do this particular procedure at home. His tech, Kelsey, was so pleasant, also skilled and added to the caring atmosphere. We can't say enough about Dr. Tim and his entire staff. We were so impressed with the staff, and Dr. Kaufman is outstanding, and is so passionate about his profession. My husband and I were also really pleased he checked each dog thoroughly and verbalized the exam so we knew exactly what was happening. The space is petite, clean, and comfortable with lovely art hanging all around. The entire visit was easy and both dogs were very happy. Also, their prices are comparable to other clinics and they assisted us with quotes for future health issues, so we know the cost, which was greatly appreciated! The pricing is pretty reasonable for a vet clinic and they even offer Saturday hours, which is really nice for those with a standard work week. They also offer specialty food and supplies for pets too. They seem to genuinely care and want the beat for your pets. Whenever our cats have had more serious health issues, they always call to follow up and check-in. I live about 30 minutes from this clinic and have multiple places that are closer to me now, but will keep my cats here as long as we live in the Tucson area. Highly recommended.

A one star is even too much grace for this place…read more... I chose this clinic based on a family recommendation, but unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. During my first visit, there was very little effort to establish a relationship or discuss my concerns. The appointment immediately became focused on scheduling my dog's neuter. (I should've taken this as a sign) My dog's first surgery appointment was canceled after we had already arrived because of staffing issues. No one called ahead, despite us taking time off work and preparing my dog by fasting him overnight. We rescheduled a month later (With a different surgeon, not by preference) Again, my dog fasted overnight and was dropped off early in the morning. We received no updates throughout the day despite asking to be notified if anything changed. Around pickup time, I CALLED THEM and was told they never performed the surgery because they "couldn't get to him." However, they still performed bloodwork and an exam and charged me approximately $185 even though the procedure we had planned never happened. What frustrated me most was the lack of communication. Had someone called earlier in the day, I could have picked up my dog sooner instead of having him sit at the clinic fasting all day. Between two canceled surgery days, missed work, and poor communication, I lost confidence in the practice and sought care elsewhere. I hope the clinic improves its scheduling, communication, and respect for clients' (INCLUDING MY DOG) time.

But Dr. Horton, all of the veterinarians, and all of the technicians and front desk staff are consistently excellent and I wish I could remember all their names!. Facility is great and I'll get to one very important detail about the facility in a minute, but it's spacious, plenty of room for customers and their pets, plenty of exam rooms, and a nice restroom, plus the pet-themed artwork is great. I really like the online presence, with automated scheduling, conversing with staff, and even the ability to specify technician or specific veterinarian. Now, based on my most recent experience, I wanted to call attention to the comfort room. Unfortunately I had to euthanize one of my cats last week, and not only did they get me in quickly - which should not go unrecognized - but that entire comfort room experience is about as good as it gets. The room itself is incredibly well thought out, with nice calming music, plenty of tissues, comfortable seating, the right low lighting (don't overlook that, it's part of the transitional euthanasia experience), and pleasant decorations. I don't mind one bit that there's some display of (forgive me if this isn't the right term) remembrance artifcacts depending on your method of handling the remains, I actually thought that was a nice touch. They planned this room out really well when building the facility, you can drive right up to it's dedicated entrance, so you don't have to walk through the main area crying your eyes out. But that's all about the facility, let's not forget how compassionate and sympathetic the staff who handle that experience are. And not fake sympathy either, legitimate care and concern. And great attention to detail. Whether it's routine care, purchasing supplies, or euthanasia, Dove Mountain Veterinary handles all of it deftly. And reasonably priced, too.
