I truly wish I had a positive review to give. Rincon Vista employs many vet techs who are kind and understanding, but do not seem very experienced or well-trained. Most of them seemed to be recent graduates and I just felt they weren't 100% equipped to take care of my pet. I am writing this months after it happened because it was too painful to relive before. I made an appointment for my dog initially because he was lethargic, vomiting, and barely eating. We brought him in and were told that the resident veterinary doctor (the only one there with an actual DVM) was busy during surgery, and could not see him. I am sure the vet techs that remained did their best to try to diagnose him, but all we left with were medications that treated his symptoms and no diagnosis. We made additional appointments over the next few months but they never went anywhere. Each time I never actually got to speak to the DVM who works there. She seemed to always be busy in a surgery or some other intensive care that required her full attention. Looking back, I do not believe she herself ever actually saw our dog at any point. I feel we were only being given care by the vet techs, who were trying their best, but don't have the level of experience, knowledge, and expertise a DVM would. Finally, our last appointment, I met Dr. Heist for the first time. She said she was going to assess him based on his symptoms. This was our final appointment after 3 or 4 appointments over the course of a few months that never went anywhere and always ended with them prescribing more drugs and never diagnosing him. Once we had spoken to her, we dropped him off and left. Within an hour, she called us and had a full diagnosis of the exact condition he had. If she could have found this out in an hour, why did it take months to find this out? Again, this is why I believe she had never actually seen our dog until this point. As it turns out, this specific disease has a tell-tale sign: yellow gums. I believe the vet techs wrote this off as periodontitis (which he probably had as well), but the fact that they missed this for months unfortunately led to his passing. I just feel that if my dog was properly looked at by a DVM who wasn't always too busy, leaving the relatively new vet techs to look at him instead, his disease could have been managed earlier on and he would have had higher chances for survival. I appreciate the effort and care they gave him, but I feel it was unfair that my dog was not properly examined and diagnosed by an actual veterinary doctor until it was too late. Please look elsewhere for care unless you're getting the very basics here. It seems the resident DVM will likely not always see your pet if you bring them in, so your pet will be handled by veterinary techs, who are educated and experienced in their own right but do not have the level of education and knowledge a DVM would. If your dog has a serious disease that needs to be diagnosed, please look for a more professional veterinary office. read more

The staff here went above and beyond to save me and my boyfriend's cat today. They got us in for the same day as new first time clients of theirs and treated us like family. They worked with us at every step and when we couldn't cover the cost of his procedure fully, they didn't just turn us away. I truly believe the doctor and the vet techs here at Rincon Vista want to see our kitty thrive and it felt unreal in a nightmare of a day (his symptoms started early this morning). I started going there during COVID because our vet made us sit outside in the 100+ degree summer. They left us sit in the air conditioned waiting room. Their prices are fairly competitive; they give a senior discount. The Vet care is great! Dr. Conely is excellent. She will spend the time necessary to discuss your pets problems, which I find refreshing. As my Golden becomes a senior dog, I want her to have the best care possible. I do not recommend this vet I took my 13 year old dog there today and was charged almost $500 for blood work. On my way home they called and said she needed another $162 for urine sample and the the had not included $94 for the meds the already had given me. read more

For minor annual vet shots, it's okay to take your best friend here. But, for real medical issues, that require surgery for your best friend (dog) recommend another well- experienced and well equipped veterinary hospital! We want to make the best decisions for our best friends, so choose better! I blame myself for not doing so and now I'm left without my lil one around too soon! read more

My ridgeback Rambo was, ahem, not who you would call a "model doggo." He was energetic, drooled like a leaky fire hose and had a tail that could swing with the force to snap a 2x4. To keep him in place on the scale alone was a borderline legendary feat. The technicians not only handled my beloved canine with patience and care upon every visit, but they treated him like a part of the clinic family. Even if they did have to down some pre-workout when they saw us strolling up in the parking lot. For 11 years we frequented this clinic, and near the end of the road I started to see a Rambo who was having a hard time getting by. He wasn't just old, his valley fever was starting to get the best of him and his hind leg muscles were starting to atrophy (I'll spare the full details, I'm not trying to get misty-eyed right now). When I called the clinic to ask their procedure on easing Rambo into his rest, I was already an emotional wreck. They talked and walked me through the process every step of the way, and the one bright silver lining of our last trip to the vet was just how kind, understanding and empathetic they were. I'm forever grateful to the veterinarian and techs here for helping Rambo live, and even pass away, in the best way possible. You guys have my sincerest gratitude. read more

What a wonderful experience! Had to take my two girls in due to something with their ears and first impressions: 1) It doesn't smell like an animal clinic. It was so clean and comfortable. They even play soft classical music in the rooms. My girls were yawning after awhile. 2) The staff is so sweet, caring and friendly. 3) I met both vets who were wonderful. She took the time to explain everything to me and was so great with my girls. 4) They go through each procedure/treatment cost before anything is done and they don't make you feel uncomfortable. 5) Prices were very reasonable. I got the treatment I needed comfortably and though they recommended the heartworm treatment I couldn't afford it this time. They don't make you feel awkward or weird about it. We just talked about future treatments. I would recommend Rincon Vista to everyone and this will be my girls "PCP" from now on! read more

I had a very good experience with rinconvista veterinary clinic. I didn't give ten simply because I asked what was necessary and was given a long list for my healthy dog, whom I obviously love. I don't have a lot of money. I did spend a lot on this one visit already and the next visit in a couple weeks is expected to be couple hundred, so I'm naturally a little stressed. I was impressed that they allowed me to come back the same day to add another immunization in order to avoid an extra check up fee at a later time. The doctor is also awesome and very kind. There was a week wait for the time I needed but other than that, not overly busy. The lady at the desk was very helpful and sweet also. Everyone was really nice. Treatment on post is probably cheaper, but they do offer a military discount- active duty only though. Ask for a tech on most appointments to avoid unnecessary tacked on fees. See the vet only when required to save some money. Office was nice and clean, organized in appearance and accommodating. They were easily able to call my old vet and acquire my dogs medical records without any issues, in time for our appointment. I would recommend them, but just be prepared to be offered all the bells and whistles of immunization for your pet. read more

I am so glad I found this place after moving back to Arizona. I have a Pomeranian with a history of stomach problems. When he has a flare up he winds up having a large amount of blood in his stool, and at that point I always take him to the vet in order to get him on medication to calm down his intestines and stop the bleeding. The office assistant made sure to try and get prior records on my dogs illness so as to assist the dr with her analysis of how to treat my dog when I arrived. When Dr. Heist walked in, I immediately felt put at ease. The way she talked to my dog made me trust her immediately. Some people might not do the baby talk with their pets, but I do, and the fact that Dr. Heist did I found really touching and special. My dog doesn't take easily to new people, but he actually rolled onto his back and let her rub his stomach (he has only let 3 people do this in the 4 years I've had him). She was so sweet and took her time examining him and putting me at ease over all the concerns I had. I cannot recommend this place enough. From how friendly, kind, patient and compassionate the office assistant and vet tech were, to how amazing Dr. Heist was, I will definitely be bringing my pets here in the future. read more

Brought my doggo here to have her ears checked, a borderline hysterical tech came out to the waiting room to say she couldn't even get near my sweet lovable dog and sent me home with some very toxic pills that made my very happy and very healthy dog very sick. Upset my whole family The! The tech was to knock her out?? I was instructed by said hysterical tech to call on Saturday morning (clinic closed on Friday) if the pills didn't work. I called and Mindy told me she would ask the Vet to call me back? It is now 7:45PM I haven't heard from anyone. My poor doggo, so sick and no one at this clinic cares. Made another appointment at a different Vet for Monday. I have never had an experience where my dog came out sicker than when she went in. Stear clear of this clinic if you can! read more

I just moved to Tucson from St. Louis and I had to get my dog licensed and to get her annual shots. When I called for an appointment, the receptionist was very friendly and nice. I was able to get an appointment within 30 minutes after my phone call, so that was a plus. When I arrived, I did not have to wait to be shown into an exam room, so that also was a plus. Exam Room: The exam room had a park-like bench to sit on while we waited for someone to come in and see us. Also, there was an exam table that was folded up against the wall kind of like an iron board that is held up by the wall. There was also a computer system, which the vet center utilizes to update patient files, etc. Connected to the room is a door that leads into the vet tech/vet area, which is where the vet entered from. Vet Tech: Bailey and I waited for about 5-8 minutes in the exam room before a vet tech came in to ask us a few questions. When she came in, however, she didn't really show any affection towards my dog. She didn't even pet Bailey when she walked in, which seems odd since at my vet in St. Louis I am quite used to the Vet Techs petting any pet that is waiting to be examined. She didn't even seem to care much or even pet my dog when she was taking her temperature or even her heart rate. The Vet Tech definitely did not seem to like animals/dogs very much. Vet: Dr. Gary Bird After the Tech got the necessary information, we waited for Dr. Bird, which wasn't too long of a wait. When he came in, he was definitely a friendly man. First he went to the computer to see what information he had on my dog and then he got down on the floor and sat down, while petting my dog (as any vet should). He was definitely kind and friendly, trying to gain the trust of my dog before getting her shots. He was also very informative regarding the types of diseases that my dog could get since we moved to Tucson (ie. Valley Fever) and what kind of preventative medication she should get (ie. heartworm meds). He definitely didn't try to sell me unnecessary things and even when he found out that I give my dog Sentinel, which he doesn't sell, he didn't try to convert me to something he sells. He told me to continue with Sentinel and that he could write a prescription for me to get Sentinel from my usual medication provider. Overall: Overall, a good vet center. I am not 100% in love with the vet since my old vet went way beyond what I expected from her while I lived in St. Louis, so it's hard to reach her level in my eyes. As for costs, they were not unreasonable. For her shots, they ranged between $10-$13.50 and the Office Visit/Exam was $28.00. The fecal exam that I got for an intestinal parasite screen was the most expensive, which was $43.50, but at least I do not have to get a fecal exam too often. I liked the fact that I didn't have to wait and that costs were reasonable, but the vet techs need to show more affection towards the pets since they are the patients afterall. read more

I took my dog a little chihuahua to this vet for a broken leg. I had to wait for almost 30 minutes before the doctor even came in. Then the doctor after us telling her that our dog will bite her if she moves her leg continues to try to wrap her leg without a muzzle and got bit. Then after they finally took her back after quoting 598 just for the medicine and x-rays. The doctor called us to say that it would be able to simply sit the leg and wrap it. 2 hours later she called us saying we would have to pay an additional 400 even though she was not knowledgeable enough to sit and wrap a leg, a basic action and the brake was straight across. She then said we had to go to Valley animal hospital to someone who knew how to do it. The vet then called Valley animal after we left and then called us saying Valley was not taking new patients, lucky for them we were not new. I would NEVER recommend someone use this vet I spent 1000 just for them to essentially tell me it was broke. read more

New vet here, Dr. Auburn Heist. Love, love, love her. My Maltipoo has such severe allergies he was beat red and itching non stop all the time. My previous vet gave me meds but never too much advice on how to avoid this in the future. Dr. Heist said to remove all treats other than natural treats and continue on the holistic food like it have been and prescribed some meds, special shampoo and VIOLA, he has never been better! I had also tried all sensitive skin shampoos, aloe etc to no avail, the one she sold me is great and he does not mind it a bit. The total bill was less than $225 and that is a great deal! Glad she bought this practice! Highly recommend her and staff, all huge animal lovers and friendly. She's got my business! read more
