Dr. Ortiz has treated my little Lacey since the day we brought her home and quite frankly... I wouldn't trust her with anyone else! The staff all love her and she loves them. Even the one time when we had to take Lacey to So. AZ Veterinary Emergency Associates (Which I'm very glad Dr. Ortiz is associated with). We've taken our 4 yr old Blue Heeler to this clinic 3 times now, and each time, everyone has treated her so well- from the front desk staff, the techs, and Dr. Ortiz. If you know Blue Heelers, you know they're not always the easiest, gentlest animals, if you're not one of their people. Today, we were out of state and needed proof of vaccination to get her in to a baseball game. By the time I had realized I forgot her records at home, it was 5:30pm. This place was recommended to me by an MD who brought his dog there. They were lower cost, and the vet was good. Not my experience. I brought my dog who has all the symptoms of Valley Fever in. We talked about bloodwork and meds. One thing she mentioned was Gabapentin and Tramadol. I said I have a lot of both at home. I could not afford their prices on bloodwork, and the pain med. so I asked for the dosages on Gaba and Tramadol. Gave me the dosage on Gaba, but wouldnt give the dosage on Tramadol unless she wrote the script. This came from the vet tech Francisco, who was a very nice guy. He said the vet was in a room, but he could ask her to come and talk to me about the meds. I was extremely upset and left. Leaving my other half to call - keep in mind my other half has 30 yrs in the medical field. The vet came up with several things that make no sense. It went from us asking for the Tramadol script, to now she wouldnt give us a script cause she became aware that someone in the house is taking it. Yes. I told her that point blank. She said she didnt know if we were trying to get it for ourselves. Which again, makes no sense. As we have our own. So no dosage without her writing the script, now wont give a script. Basically doesnt want to give us the dosage since we wont be buying it from her is how we see that. The bloodwork she wanted to do is redundant as one of the tests already shows the values that come on the secondary test - again this where being in the medical field comes in handy. She also stated that she is pretty sure this is Valley Fever - which we also think. When she was asked why she wanted to do the redundant test, she hmmmmd n haw'd, stammered to make excuses. Then she said that the girls said I was too upset to talk to and she couldnt talk to me about it cause I was too upset... hhhhmmmmm... I never saw any girls. I also didn't stop at the front desk where the girls were, no one looked at me as I walked by to begin with. I saw Francisco. The vet never attempted to come back into the room cause she was in another room. So tell me again why she couldnt talk to me because I was too upset, and had already left...? I showed her videos of Tabby from yesterday with her being completely lame. I showed her stool pictures, etc... she then tells my other half she thinks its neurological. Sssoooo conpletely full of BS. Went from telling her she believes its also VF, to now its neurological. Wants redundant tests, went from wont give a dosage for a medicine we already have without her writing a script, then wont write a script at all. From believing its VF, to saying its neurological all in a 5 min phone call. The MD who referred us was listening and also appalled. As a former vet tech, my other half with 30 yrs in the medical field, and an MD listening to that phone call. It's clear to me it's all about money with Dr Ortiz. That is not the same vet that the MD who referred us saw. Never again. Going back to a lower cost, amazing vet that's in the boonies.- but they're amazing and don't play games for profit. read more

This place is not undated at all and if you have a feline please go to Paws Veterinarian on River Rd , Tucson Arizona not this place it's not the best veterinarian doctors that went to prestigious Veterinarian Schools like Tufts University at Groton Massachusetts. Absolutely HORRIFYING experience! I have had large dogs most of my life and trips to the vet are never fun, but this was the absolute worst experience of my life. Staff at Golf Links Animal Clinic were so undertrained and careless that pets and staff are in danger of injury. No bedside manner or acknowledgment of the animal's state, no patience, no experience with proper handling or restraint, no offer of sedation for fearful animals... so many things wrong here. The techs took my dog back to the procedure area for a blood draw. When I heard yelping and struggle, I went back to to find my normally sweet and submissive dog, panicked and TERRIFIED, with 3-4 people holding him on a metal table tightening a muzzle on his head. I told them that was enough (even though they hadn't completed anything), easily picked the dog up and put him on the floor, and tried to leave, but Dr. Ortiz came at my dog again, forcing me to physically block her. Dr. Ortiz called it an "accident" and then filed my dog with Pima Animal Control for biting a tech, even after telling me that she agreed it was the situation, not an issue with the dog being aggressive. I had taken the same dog to Golf Links Animal Clinic before for the same procedure, and had no issues at all. Must've been the inexperienced staff that day, but my dog and I are the ones who suffer, because of their carelessness. SO traumatic and avoidable. DON'T RISK IT!!! read more

5 stars for the veterinarian and her assistant. But I'm leaving 3 stars because the ladies at the front desk were NOT nice. My visit today was a little better than the last visit. They love my dog. But when asking for prices on dental chews, they said "I don't know" with a huge attitude!!! Unbelievable.. they yelled at me from the computer instead of standing up and saying something to me to get my attention. Very unorganized at the desk.. if my next time there isn't improved, I'm taking my fur baby to another clinic with a better atmosphere and a well mannered staff. I love the assistant and vet that helped us though. I definitely miss going to the location on kolb/broadway. read more

Staff and clinic was nice, Dr. Ortiz was able to assist us with looking at our kitten. She wasn't able to diagnose her but she was very helpful with getting us food and doing x-rays for us and even followed up after appointments to check up on her! Very thoughtful. read more

I have been taking my dog Hoss to the clinic for a couple years after Broadway Animal Clinic closed and merged with Golf Links Animal Clinic. They have been fabulous! The front desk personnel are friendly and treat myself and my dog lovingly and compassionately every time. If I call with questions they take the time to answer any question and never make me feel I am a bother. The assistants are great as well and Dr Forgues and Dr Ortiz have always been compassionate and knowledgeable and take the time each visit to explain everything to me and take great care of my dog. I never feel hurried and always feel my dog's health is paramount. After visits I get calls to see how he is doing. I think very highly of this Clinic from front desk to assistants to the doctors! High dollar service with lack of genuine pet care and pet concern. Some of the assistants are under-trained and disrespectful with you and your pet. I am not a one time client. I have been taking my pets their for many years till I finally realized that the care and service decreases and the charges $$$ increase. Ortiz could do us all a favor and find another vocation.. She has a sister location at 22 S. Kolb. Beware.. According to Ortiz, there is no specific method or test to determine if it's Valley Fever or not. It's all an educational guess. Therefore, you pay for services and medication and x-rays and follow-ups, all based on speculations. And, your pet will suffer the consequences. I'm in Tucson, not San Francisco.. read more

My dog had swelling near a joint on one of her legs, our regular vet was unavailable so we tried this place as it was close to home. Dr. Ortiz gave us a range of diagnosis from a sprain to valley fever and treatment ranging from medication to amputation. Suggested $1100 worth of tests I felt were throwing darts to see which would stick and kept throwing Care Credit brochures at us for the charges. They would not prescribe anything without blood tests and needed to charge extra for a radiologist to review any X-rays. Went to a certified animal hospital who treated my dog with a few X-rays and anti-inflammatory meds for a bad sprain for under $300. She is now perfectly fine. Would NOT recommend this establishment to anyone EVER. read more

Do not take your pet here unless you have an extra $3000-$4000 that you don't know what to do with. Took my youngest dog (10 yrs old) to Dr Ortiz. Her estimate for blood work, x-rays, additional testing and then sending us somewhere else for the actually surgery...$3200-$4000. Went somewhere else for a second opinion. The vet knew exactly what the problem was and $200 later, problem solved. Asked Dr Ortiz for an estimate on another dogs tooth being pulled. Approximately $1100. That was $300 more than any of the other places I contacted. Dr Ortiz also likes to talk in circles. When she gets done talking, you're not quite sure what you have just been told. read more

I took my pug Chata a while back to this clinic they had me take her to get x rays, long story short there where complications when giving birth and she died, I was devistated. Dr. Ortiz followed up to see how my pug was even though they could not do xrays there she still was concerned of how she was. When I told her my pug had died she gave me her condolinces. Days later she mailed me a Sympathy card in the mail.. I found much comfort in the card and cannot thank Dr. Ortiz and staff enough for this card. Do not take your pet here! I had an appt at the tucson small animal with dr. Armstrong whom is fantastic. I was late to my appt and the clerk said I could get seen if I drove to the other clinic. 2 hours later after signing documents that this office wanted a commitment of lab fees (over the average cost in Tucson), signing another document of dispensing medications. Then I saw the doctor, she refused to look at my dogs ear, stating a dermatologist would be better suited to evaluate. she then said she would give me a prescription for my dog if I would purchase it from her, if I chose to use the internet I would get a smaller quantity and would need to return to get a new rx. She charges $58. My dog is 13 and has been going to vets for 13 years, this doctor is a disgrace to her profession. I am saddened Regina Armstrong is associated with her and her office recommended this thief. Their are many vets that are more professional and caring for your animal.
