I know that they are always looking out for them. My pug Baxter needed dental work and it was expensive. However, that's why I have pet insurance. Savannah has been a patient at Mesquite for about three years. We recently adopted a new dog, Domino, from PACC and both seemed to have come down with a mild case of kennel cough. I brought Savannah in to make sure there were no other underlying issues. Dr. Lewis was very professional, compassionate and attentive towards Savannah and my concerns. I really appreciated that she did not over treat and recommended a backup plan of meds and xrays if Savannah got worse. I am happy to report that Savannah is doing well along with Domino. I brought two sick cats here to get checked out. Instead of worry about the fact my cats were sick, they charged me $700 for X-rays and told me my cat would start having seizures and that one of my cats had an enlarged heart. The seizure thing never happened. I dunno what they people here are smoking, but since this experience, I've boycotted this place entirely. My cats both had the common cat cold. Something this place took advantage of, didn't help me with. But what they did instead was upcharge me for things I didn't ask for, all while lying to me. I brought them on for help with the cat cold not to get used. read more

Had an emergency visit with my 14 yr old Yorkie. I suspected a UTI. Vet checked her out, did blood work and urine etc and it came out as UTI! We have been using mesquite vet for a few years now and usually are happy with their care. However, today we saw Dr. Whiting for our dog who is limping. The dog in question is fearful reactive, something that this vet office is not only aware of but was reminded of upon making the appointment. We also made sure to order their pre med cocktail for anxiety before the appointment. Upon picking up the medication, I noted that the dosage seemed higher than the dosage my dog had been given prior, but it was still within the range of normal dosages (just at the high end). My dog came to the appointment properly medicated, muzzled, and barely growled at the vet. Despite this, and being restrained by my husband who is large, and properly trained in canine restraint, we could tell that Dr Whiting was not at all comfortable dealing with our dog. She did a quick exam, diagnosed an acl tear and sent us home with meds. We requested Xrays multiple times and were steered away from doing any sort of diagnostics. This dog is also genetically prone to IVDD which can cause paralysis if it worsens which the doctor was informed of. I would not recommend this vet for anyone with a dog who isn't perfectly behaved. I specifically asked to see a vet who could handle a reactive dog. The previous vet that we saw with this dog at this office managed to get xrays and the techs by themselves managed to get a cysto. There was no excuse to not do diagnostics. read more

We just moved to Catalina in August so this was our first time at Mesquite Veterinary Hospital. My kitty suffers from Inflammatory Bowel Disorder and periodically has episodes of vomiting and not eating for 24-36 hours, which is a long time for a 6 pound kitty. I called on Wednesday afternoon and explained what was going on and they gave me an appointment for 9 am on Thursday. Upon arriving, due to COVID, I called and they took the intake information over the phone. Shortly after, a tech came to get Roxy and not long after that Dr. Baker called with his initial diagnosis and recommendations. Luckily, we've never had anything more serious than a spay or neuter, and one dog was diagnosed with throat cancer. They have all been very kind, prompt, and compassionate, as well as highly professional. The lack of 5 stars is because I do feel their prices are very high, and there are no billing options. I'm giving Mesquite Veterinary office a 1 review because they don't answer the phone I tried 5 times in two hours and no one answered. I got a recording that said please call later.. This is the 2nd time I have tried to reach them. The 1st time my dog was dying from lung cancer and I needed the help of a vet, 3 or 4 calls no answer. A few months later we got a new puppy and she needed to be established with a vet. I thought calling of the Mesquite Vet because they are local would be a good choice for her. Again no answer.. My German Shepherd received very good care from Dr Baker He preformed a complete exam and was able to provide an accurate diagnosis of the problem Unfortunately that diagnosis was bleeding cancer on Cash's spleen and liver However they did not have an ultrasound that could confirm that diagnosis So I took Cash to an emergency vet hospital that was able to confirm Dr Baker's diagnosis The staff were all very caring and treated Cash with great compassion and the price was fair I highly recommend Mesquite Vet clinic read more

Compassionate and caring! Recently relocated to the area and my 4 year old golden was lethargic and not eating. Choose a different vet who diagnosed kennel cough, when I called back a few days later to report no improvement, then never followed up. So when I found this clinic my dog was very ill. Diagnosed with Valley Fever, Dr. Haydt and staff were caring and informative as we began treatments. They are wonderful with my dog, and patient with me. I highly recommend them! Awful awful vet. The staff is extremely rude. They don't like animals although you think they would. My dog has never had any issues with any vet. And he has terrible anxiety here. They complain every single time and ask if he is anxious upon arrival. He has never had issues with any vet before. We are new to the area and on the hunt for a new vet. We can't go inside with him due to COVID and we are unsure as to why he is so anxious. The staff is rude and the wait time is awful. I recommend you do your research before coming here. We are very pleased with Mesquite vet... our neighborhood spot... we are new to Catalina, and our pets were all up to date from the previous place we lived in. Then our kitty got into a rattlesnake den. Mesquite vet got us in immediately- and Prince, who would be better called Rambo is back to normal. Then I got five puppies... We took our 12 year old dog who was having bone issues (right back leg she wasn't using at all). We had taken her to Suffolk who just wanted our money and told us a lot of wrong information. I tried Mesquite which was also closer to my home. I am so glad I did, they are wonderful, kind and go the extra mile. Although the diagnosis was bone cancer that was spreading at a rapid pace, and her hip were "bone on bone", they said that leg could break at any minute, requiring a hard decision on our part. We are grateful for the care they gave her, they helped keep her from a lot of pain which no dog owner wants to put their dog though. We had Laps of Love come to our home, when she could be in her own bed surrounded by love, when she went to the Rainbow Bridge. Mesquite also takes care of my cat, I can't say enough about this excellent veterinary hospital !!! read more
