Dr. Floyd is the doctor that I see and consider him to be excellent. The problem is the horrible communication that I have experienced. I suspect I have a urinary infection (the third consecutive). I cannot talk to the doctor's nurse even after leaving 2 messages on the patient portal and one phone message.. So, now Iam just trying to make an appointment and have been holding more than 30 minutes. I strongly suggest that you look somewhere else for a Urologist. read more

I have been getting testosterone pellet insertion for over 15 years, but no one has done as incredible work as Richard "Sean" Omsberg at the Round Rock office! His insertion of the pellets is so small you can't hardly tell he did the work, amazing! This also means faster healing time and no scaring. My wife would love to have Sean do her insertion since she has to fly to Arizona to see her doctor but Urology Austin I'm told will mot order the estrogen pellet's which she prefers. If you want to start testosterone treatments or already having treatments done you know what I'm talking about here so I highly recommend you make an appointment with Richard Omsberg. Three horrible doctors: David Freidberg, MD; Loren Jones, MD; Elizabeth Mobley, MD One only talked down to me. I told her I had something different than usual. She did not listen. Turns out I was correct. Another of the doctors did not stop a test at the beginning when I said stop then yelled stop about 5 times. He continued for another couple of minutes. Additionally, I told him that his assistant did not turn on her equipment even though she said she did. He did not listen to me; he did not check after I stated it. It turns out I was correct, which caused me unnecessary pain. The third doctor is the surgeon who changed my life in a negative way for the rest of my life. The whole thing was a horrible experience. My PCP told me to go somewhere else after my first visit there. But, like an idiot, I figured since they already have some of my money towards my deductible and it was close to the end of the year I should continue with them, just a different doctor. the doctor is good but seems like their infrastructure is failing. Very hard to get hold of someone to get answers. My dad got his urine culture done 10 days back and we have not got the results yet. we have been leaving multiple messages via phone and portal but no one responds back. Very frustrating and concerning. We have been having this experience with this practice repeatedly. read more

John I. 8/24/2023 The only reason I gave Urology Austin located at 1301 W. 38th Street in Austin Texas a one star is because it was the lowest possible choice. What they actually deserved at best was negative five stars. The receptionist was the most unpleasant, rude, unprofessional, hateful, uncaring, unhelpful witch I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. When I did the online checkin it showed I owed $628 for the next days visit so I called my insurance company to see if that was correct. I was told my deductible and out of pocket was already met and for the rest of the year everything was covered 100%. When I got to the doctors office she told me I had to pay the total amount before doctor would see me and wouldn't listen to me asking to please call and double check because that's not what I was told. The other receptionist said she would send a message over to billing and double check but then just kept saying yes I have to pay it. I ask if I could call insurance on speakerphone so they could hear but they said I would have to go into the hall and make the call. Apparently whoever is responsible for verifying insurance didn't bother doing so or I wouldn't have had to do their job. While on the phone with insurance they ask for the procedure code so I walked back inside, still on speakerphone and ask the witch and she so hatefully said no they didn't need that. After a while on hold waiting for insurance to contact someone they came back on and said as soon as their call was answered and announced who they were the lady that answered just hung up. I was finally able to walk back inside with their billing ladies name so the receptionist could verify the visit was covered 100% just as I said. The receptionist said she would check but that it was more than fifteen minutes past my appointment time so she marked me as a no show. I was speechless at first but then said please don't do that to me. I'd taken off work, taken the meds and made all preparations per the doctor for the procedure and she obviously knew I was there before my appointment time and it wasn't my fault I had to do their jobs. She said the only thing to do was reschedule so I did, but then when I got home I found a different Urologist to take my business to. I strongly recommend everyone reading this to avoid Urology Austin at all cost and please tell everyone that'll listen to stay clear of this office !!!!!!! read more

Dr. Baker is definitely the Best # 1 Doctor. My husband and I are incredibly lucky to have Dr.Baker. He saved my husband's life. We have never seen such a brilliant, compassionate, friendly, kind doctor with an excellent job. Dr. Baker removed my husband's one kidney successfully due to renal pelvis cancer. He cleaned all connected organs. He also found and completely removed cancer in the bladder when he did a biopsy on the renal pelvis. My husband and I are incredibly amazed at his excellent job, kindness in the complete positive sprite. He always explained everything in detail as we understood quickly and easily about what was going on, listened to our questions and concerns patiently, and explained everything thoroughly with peaceful smiles. It made us so comfortable and confident to deal with such a difficult time fighting with cancer. Thank you so much, Dr. Baker! read more

Charged me 300$ for the appointment (after I had already spent money on an ultrasound) just to have me sit in the waiting room until the doctor could see me for 2 minutes just to tell me EVERYTHING IS FINE. HORRIBLE staff. This is about the 8th time they've dropped the ball on me. I called in to have a compounded prescription re-filled. It needed to be sent to NuCara or a compounding pharmacy. I got a call, the next day, from CVS that they had the prescription but they didn't do those things. I called Urology Austin to ask tell them and ask them to resend it. The woman on the phone INSISTED that it had been sent to NuCara, since the note in the computer said so. I pointed out that the ONLY way CVS got this is that Urology Austin sent it! But this woman said I need to call everyone and fix it, since Urology Austin had done it right. VERY ARROGANT AND POOR SERVICE read more

Update: The manager fixed the problem by correcting the amount I owe. That being said, any patient should be asked if a procedure is covered under patient's insurance. No one wants to get additional bill unless it is absolutely necessary. Make sure they check every procedure they run is covered. **************************** You are just an income here in this practice, they don't even care. No one checked whether the procedures and tests they run are covered by insurance now I am under significant amount of debt. Incompetency at its best. As all the other reviewers complain. Although they rescheduled my appt without asking me, the staff was wonderful! The ladies at reception are SO nice and Omar is literally the absolute best! Never had a doctor or a nurse make me feel that comfortable. He's super friendly and is all around a wonderful guy. I agree with Kerri, Abby, Dennis and Pamela that Urology Austin is one of the worst-managed medical practices I've ever experienced. I have a background in business process re-engineering consulting, so I've got some experience with recognizing well-managed and poorly-managed businesses. Most medical practice customer service operations are poorly-managed, typically run by unqualified people with medical backgrounds who don't understand (or care) about the importance of customer service -- rather than by people with business management backgrounds who DO understand its importance. Urology Austin should hire a customer service manager from Austin Regional Clinic, a medical organization that is run like a fine Swiss watch. They would do themselves a massive favor by getting somebody into their management who has a clue about how to run the customer-relations aspects of such an enterprise. For example, Urology Austin insists on using phones as its primary communication vehicle. It forgets (or apparently doesn't know) that not everybody has a phone glued to their ear or wants to be tied to a phone, and that not everybody is auditory. In fact, half of the population actually works better by reading rather than listening (look it up). So, Urology Austin should be giving people a choice of communication methods: phone or portal communication. If you miss a call from UA, it is virtually impossible to then reach the calling person by a single return phone call. You have to leave a message each time and that results in endless phone tag -- a very frustrating experience. Its portal is underutilized. Whomever set it up isn't using it for a key thing that a portal can nicely do: schedule appointments and tests. UA should take a look at all the ways that ARC marvelously uses its portal and emulate those business processes -- maybe by changing to ARC's portal provider. Also, when you get scheduled for a test, the UA staff are poor at communicating in writing about exactly what you need to do to prepare for the test. Once again, they expect you to play phone tag and then rely on verbal instructions (with nothing written down that can be referred to later) -- verbal instructions about which you will need to remember precise details weeks later (since it takes so long to get an appointment for a test). I've seen only one Urology Austin physician; he seems competent. But being surrounded by a horrible set of customer service business processes, it very much shades my impression of how competent he will turn out to be. Nobody should be subjected to the incompetent and discourteous customer service treatment to which UA subjects its patients. I'm going to find a different urology practice. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Melody Denson and NP, Danielle Maines for over 4 years. I have been able to communicate with her offices until recently. This practice has been taken over. You cannot any longer talk to their offices. There is now a message center that you have to call. The message center does not a have a location where calls come from. Every time you call, someone different takes a message. When your call is returned, the numbers they are using to call you come up as spam, unknown or as recently a number came up from Puerto Rico. The result is that my phone will not pick up the call and a voice mail is left for you to call back. When you do call back the process starts over again and not one thing is accomplished. I have complained to this agency several times. It has fallen on deaf ears. I am sure I am not the only patient having these problems. I have requested many, many times that the person leave a detailed messages. That does not happen. You cannot get care from your physician. I have been forced to use ERs countless times which is an abuse of the medical system because of these changes. I love Dr Denson, but because she cannot be reached, I will be seeking another Urologist much to my dismay. I have recommended her to many of my friends. I will no longer do that. The portal system has been an absolute disaster as well. read more

While my husband was very happy with the care he received from Dr Baker, we can't say the same about the rest of the staff. We have waited over a month to schedule an outpatient surgery, and despite repeated phone calls, nothing has happened. Dr Baker is now fired. I cannot recommend this practice. It is close to malpractice for people who have serious issues. Apparently, no one checks these reviews either, because none of the serious complaints have been addressed. EDIT: I spoke with Daniel who was professional and responsive to my concerns. He agreed that this level of customer service was unconscionable. This the worst, most unprofessional, poorly managed practice I have ever had to deal with in my life. Absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable. Their office staff is rude, disrespectful, and woefully incompetent. Allow me give you some examples of what a nightmare it is to deal with them. They literally had no knowledge of what FMLA even was when I tried to meet with a provider to go over the paperwork, and I played phone-tag with them for the entire two weeks I was given by my employer to meet the FMLA deadline. It literally took them that entire time to continually botch the process - they initially did not even pass my request on to the correct person in the practice, only to later abruptly tell me that they 'weren't comfortable' fulfilling my request. They gave me the run around for the entirety of my window to file my paperwork, and didn't given me an answer about what they were (not) willing to do until the day the deadline was reached. I had to call them multiple times asking for updates. One of the times they did update me was with a voicemail from a staff member that quite literally said, "sorry we can't do your paperwork." That was literally all the person said before hanging up. No explanation given whatsoever. I was eventually informed that a 'manager' I'd never met - whose full name wasn't even revealed to me - had made this decision about my healthcare without speaking to me about my request whatsoever, and that I had supposedly not even seen a provider that could fill the paperwork out. They offered absolutely no recourse other than to "see my PCP instead", and all of my interactions with them during this time went through the rude and unprofessional office staff who didn't even understand what they were talking about. I was NEVER allowed to speak to any healthcare provider about any of it. When I tried to contest what was going on during a phone call, the staff talked over/interrupted me and made it very clear that they just wanted to shut me down and end the call. Good luck using their online patient portal as well: it's full of glitches and practically non-functional, as it locked me out every single time I tried to log back in, rendering it useless as a communication method. Oh, and lets not forget this one: when I was already an established patient, my employer changed insurance carriers at the beginning of the year. It was the first week of January and I was waiting to pick my card up that had just come in the mail, but I needed to make an appointment prior to getting home after regular business hours. (I am a first responder that works long shifts, and many of my nights are spent away from home.) I needed to make this appointment for an urgent matter, and the office staff literally refused to let me make the appointment until I had my new policy number to give to them. I was experiencing incredible discomfort that could not be addressed by urgent care or a PCP, and they refused to let me schedule anything despite that I work for a government entity and can prove that I am insured even without my policy number. It was out of the question to schedule an appointment and just bring my card to the office, apparently. As a healthcare provider myself, this is incredibly infuriating and disturbing to me. It makes me wonder if every patient is just a bunch of dollar signs (or lack thereof) in their eyes. At the end of the day this practice does care about their patients, has no interest in advocating for them, and is woefully incompetent. The care I received from my NP was perfectly fine, but that doesn't even come close to making up for the absolute hell it has been to deal with their practice. I have never been treated so poorly by a healthcare provider, and would highly encourage steering clear of this atrocity of a practice. read more

I have never been so disrespected as a patient anywhere. This office cannot perform a task so simple as to write a date on a form and fax it. I do not exaggerate when I say that I have called their office more than 15 times in the 4 weeks since I saw Dr. Baker. Each time, I've been promised a call back. It has happened literally NEVER. I can only assume that my messages are being delivered, but the urgency and frustration of my situation must not. I am fortunate that I have a job that affords me a safety net for situations like these, but their lack of followthrough is causing real damage to my financial situation. I don't have an unreasonable request, folks. There are literally 3 blanks that need number: start date (when I went to the ER, return date, and a number representing possible frequency of the recurrence, which is simply an estimate that my insurance asks for). I will not return to this practice. They are either incompetent and can't fulfill my request, or are cruel and won't. Save yourself the literal pain and find another practice. read more

Dr. Singh is an outstanding doctor. Needless to say, when you have a problem with certain areas of the body, you want both relief from the pain and an understanding doctor. Dr. Singh delivers on both counts. Not only was he compassionate, gentle, and full of solutions, the scheduling staff at the clinic is excellent. The only thing holding them back from a 5 star review is that the doctors are scheduled for multiple appointments at the same time and run late as a result. read more

Take your urology issues somewhere else and steer clear of this practice. I've had bad experiences with 2 doctors and staff here. One was a doctor my husband saw who was extremely crass and vulgar--this one is history and was a different physician, so won't go into it here. Second issue involved my mother, who was suffering from what appeared to be a UTI. She had her appointment with a PA of urologist, Loren Jones'. A culture was taken by catheter and we were told it would be sent in for culture and be back within 3 days. A shot and antibiotics were given, but the culture had to be tested and read before we learned if the meds given were for the correct strain. I made 4 phone calls to check the results. I will tell you to take a comfortable seat and plan to hold a minimum of 20 minutes every time. 3 of my calls were answered with rudeness and attitude. In the meantime, I got a link for the portal. Forget this. They don't answer promptly. My first question didn't get a response for 5 days! I was told the tests weren't back yet. By the way, on one call, I was told they might have forgotten to send in the sample! What!! They put my 94 year old mother through a catheter and forgot! I finally received a portal response after giving the office another call, in which I was very upset. I was told the test had come back but was waiting for provider to read it. Another 2 days passed and I called again. By this time, I was getting VERY aggravated. The office called back and said she did have a UTI (no kidding!) and they would send antibiotics. The pharmacy held up the order. Why? Here's a not-so-big-surprise, the urologist's prescription order was contradictory! The prescription basically translated as: Take 2, take 1. This time, I went into Urology Austin office. I was given another order to give the pharmacy. It was still written incorrectly. The pharmacy sent faxes and phone call, but were unable to fill it. Finally, it was done correctly, but I realized it was the same exact prescription she had already taken. I asked, on the portal, for a copy of her urology results and received a copy I could not possibly decipher. The type was so incredibly tiny. No apology with it, just something I couldn't even read with a magnifying glass! This process dragged on to 9 days. I would be embarrassed to be associated with this office. read more

Went in for cystoscopy. came away with antibiotic resistant UTI. Culture ran but I had to call to get results. Saw the Doctor on first follow up, then got bumped to overworked NP. Waited in a room for 1hr & 20 minutes on one visit, 4 different antibiotic runs later, 4 office visits, travel, $250 of my money and time wasted. Told me I was clean looking thru a scope only without doing a culture. But after having blood in my urine more than once in the next week, Went to my GP, found a very bad UTI still raging that is antibiotic resistant, trying to get records of visits sent to GP. Slooow motion. Will not go back again. Good luck. read more

I have to give this one star review but would have given UA a zero. If you want to play voice mail and never reach anyone by phone to make an appointment, then your in the right place. Yesterday I called the appointment line as a new patient and was 4th in the que with an 8 minute wait. Finally my call was answered but with a voice recording and instructions to leave a call back number with my vitals. 24 hours w/o a call back - so I called again today. This time I was 6th in the que on hold. I reached 4th in the que but minutes later the recording put me back at 5th in the que. I found another "new patient" call number, which I called and was told I called a referral line. I was ask to spell the doctor's name as they didn't recognize the name I gave . This was a referral by my primary physician but I'll find a Urologist office that actually answers their phone calls. Waste of time. read more

Dr. Kocurek wasted 18 months missing my husband's prostate cancer and 2 worthless biopsies. He didn't even have time to come in the room to tell us results, he just cracked the door, said one sentence and left. We finally changed providers and they found it right away, but it had progressed to stage 3. Urology Austin doesn't use MRI guided biopsies and Dr. Kocurek still does open radical prostatectomies which are not the new standard. Go somewhere else! read more

Writing is what I do. If I've had a bad experience, you REALLY don't want my review. If it's a good one, you're going to be very pleased.This review is for my old friend Dr. McClelland. About 10 years ago, I was victim to an auto accident when some dimwit ran a red light and hit me broadside. Although I walked away with no visible injuries, I immediately started developing an unexplained, indescribably earth-shattering, burning sensation in my bladder. It felt like a horrid, constant bladder infection, but there WAS no infection. I was convinced that the situation was a neurological one caused by the accident. I tried Lyrica; I saw a pain specialist and had a spinal block procedure. Nothing worked from these first months of treatment, and I had to leave my job. I was also caring for my then-toddler son. The dimwit's insurance company refused to reimburse me for my treatment unless I had a urologist testify that my condition could have been caused by the trauma from the wreck. Enter Dr. McClelland, who decides we need to dive into an expensive and invasive procedure called a "cystoscopy" to rule out other causes. If you haven't had one, a cystoscopy entails letting the good doc shove a camera up your ureters toward your kidneys. It was a far more painful, terrifying, and traumatic experience than I ever could have imagined. After it was all over, McClelland billed me for a tidy sum that I believe was around the $5,000 range, and formally stated for the insurance record that he SAW NO REASON for my discomfort. He DID NOT think that my pain could have been caused by trauma from the accident, and he had "no idea" why I was claiming discomfort! Thanks, doctor...I'm so glad I had you in my corner. Well, as it turns out, my treatment expenses from the wreck WERE reimbursed, and that was all I had asked for...no more than that. Unlike this doctor, the defendant's insurance company had a little compassion. In the end, what delivered me was physical therapy, paid for out-of pocket AFTER all this nonsense ended. It also turns out that the condition I suffered from, widely known as "Interstitial Cystitis", is seen as a neurological condition that can be triggered by trauma from injuries and accidents. Urologists are supposed to know how to identify and treat I.C., but I'm assuming McClelland was too busy thinking about his bottom line and stalling my presumed insurance fraud. That's the only way I can frame the torturous procedure and his refusal to back me up. Since he only served his own interests on this one, I guess he thought I was some malingerer looking to pull in a tidy sum from a claim. How nice. Flash forward to today...I now have kidney function problems and recurrent kidney infections that MAY be caused by urinary retention from scarring of the ureters. I'm specialist-bound. I'm also learning that this scarring MAY have been caused by the CYSTOSCOPY I enjoyed so much. In effect, Dr. McClelland insinuated a procedure on me that traumatized--and even may have permanently injured me--while failing to identify and treat what is a WIDELY known condition. This was the first of two times I have been traumatized by a provider, and it still makes me shudder to think about that experience with him. I have known some absolutely wonderful doctors in my time...but McClelland, for me, landed on far opposite side of the spectrum. Because of my current situation, I may have to undergo another cystoscopy in the near future; and if so, it will be performed an already-designated urologist who has visibly earned the trust of other Yelpers. I see that McClelland has not, and think I might not be alone in being absolutely terrified of this man. read more

Met with Marcia O'Brien who was friendly and I really liked her so my issue isn't with her. It was my experience after test results were ordered was where I decided I will never return and need to find another doctor. Two tests were ordered and I received a call about the first lab results but not the second. I let a couple of weeks pass before calling only to find out they told me someone was "supposed" to call me to tell me I had to come back so they could do another culture but.. no one called. Pretty disheartening consider this is a test to find out if you have bladder cancer. Came back, gave another sample so they could send it to the lab and waited weeks before sending a message through the portal. They told me it could take a few weeks more so I waited a total of 3.5 weeks before finally calling and they told me they had my results. I found out my results came in 2 days after I sent that portal message when they told me "someone will call me when they come in" and it was 16 days later when I found out my results because I CALLED THEM! I just don't get it. You'd think that when a patient waiting with baited breath to find out if they have friggin cancer that you'd call and let them know they don't. I wonder how long they would have waited to call had I not called 16 days after my results came in to them. read more

Dr, Brett Baker sent my husband home from the hospital with an undiagnosed anerobic infection, no discharge instructions, and no follow up appointment. We were forced to seek competent urology care elsewhere quickly. Patients beware! No sepsis ensued, but the general impression is that Dr. Baker can not diagnose his way out of a paper bag. read more

So the Dr, a Dr Michael McClelland, has me come in for a 12 needle biopsy. I ask for the cost due to me not having insurance, and they tell me $2345.00. I ask before the leaving that day is that the full price, pathology and follow up included? The lady up front says yes. So my wife drives me the very uncomfortable 90 minutes through Austin rush hour, which makes her into a basket case - and I get the biopsy. I pay the cash. I go back the following week for the Dr to give me the results, and he has a piece of paper in his hand- the results which were not good, and he delivers the news like he was telling me that my car needs a new set of tires- no emotion, no support- the only advice he gives me is a quick - 'Hey you better get insurance quick cause cancer drugs are very expensive" and walks me to the door. Next week I get a bill from them wanting over $180 for the follow up - 5 minutes of him lecturing me on insurance while he delivers the news of my terminal illness- ZERO COMPASSION AND ZERO EMPATHY. My wife sent back the bill with a note stating we were quoted the follow up with the biopsy, and they are wrong and we do not owe them any thing. Now down the road 5 months, monthly calls and collection letters from their office, and now we are in collections for the balance. They also sent a bill for pathology - which we were told was included. This place is the worst health care provider I have ever been seen by, or around. AVOID!!!!! read more

My review is strictly of Dr. Brett Baker and his nurse Terry. I suffer from a chronic inflammatory condition that causes horrific pain and discomfort. The condition is poorly understood by most medical professionals, therefore treatment options are limited. This disease is extremely frustrating, and definitely has an impact on my quality of life. I've been to a number of urologist over the years, however, none of them have ever been as kind as Dr. Baker. His nurse Terry is an absolute sweetheart as well. As a medical professional myself, I understand the importance of good bedside manner. Dr. Baker listens and offers a sympathetic feel that most physicians don't possess. He even tolerates me being difficult at times! The long waits can be frustrating, but I know that they are only because of the fact that Dr. Baker actually takes time to talk to his patients. read more

Dr. Brett Baker is friendly and professional. I had to wait in the exam room a long time, but he is very good doctor, so it was worth it. Going to the urologist can be an embarrassing, awkward ordeal. Dr. Baker quickly put me at ease with his manner. He has just the right sense of humor for the situation without crossing the line. He is tactful and professional yet may have you laughing. When he arrived he quickly guided the conversation in a productive and helpful manner. Then, without knowing I was in for it I received a checkup and my first prostate exam. Dr. Baker carried on a polite conversation and it was over about as quickly and painlessly as you can expect that sort of thing to go. Dr Floyd is wonderful but his office staff is rude and ineffective. My father was suffering from a UTI after surgery and his staff showed ZERO concern or a sense of urgency. It's now over 72 hours since we reported his condition and they still have not provide a simple prescription for antibiotics. My father is wheelchair bound so we are reliant on them to help us. Needless to say we are now searching for a new urologist. Such a shame because again we loved Dr. Floyd. Office staff can make or break a business. I wish I would have read the yelp reviews prior to bringing my father here :( read more

I was referred to Michael L. McClelland, Jr., M.D. when my PSA count became questionable. Dr. McClelland evaluated the situation and performed a biopsy which revealed cancer contained in a small area of my prostate. He provided a number of options and I chose to have my prostate removed. The surgery was promptly scheduled and then performed in October of 2012. It all went very well and the removed prostate had clean margins. I had another good checkup today (June 06, 2014) with excellent test results. I feel this is a good time to state that I am very pleased with Dr. McClelland's knowledge, pleasant professional manner, his skill as a surgeon, and most important the end result. Joe read more

Arrived for appointment at 10.30 and was told the doctor was running 30 to 45 min late. We where finally brought back to the room at 12.10pm

The receptionist is extremely rude. There is no "reception" in her job description obviously. She's been short and rude to all the patients. I'm sitting here in pain having to listen to her impoliteness. This is my first visit, and I'm now terrified of what the remainder of my experience will be! Doctors are extremely late with appointments and she doesn't apology. She just announces to room that they are late and you can either deal with it or reschedule. Please get rid of her...I never want to see her again. read more

I thought Dr Brett Baker would be my urologist. I went in 3 times. The 2nd time I waited so long, I almost left the office. 3rd time; I was asked to come back in an hour and in an hour I was told he couldn't see me, he had to get to surgery. If you value your time then he is not the doctor for you. I wrote him a letter and he never even responded. I never went back. Very arrogant approach to healthcare. read more
