We contracted with U.S. Canvas & Awning Corp. for the fabrication and installation of commercial awnings at two locations: Bellaire and Memorial. The contracts were executed on November 4, 2025 (Bellaire) and December 2, 2025 (Memorial), and deposits were paid. For the Bellaire location, after the contract was signed, additional installation requirements were introduced that were not disclosed at the time of signing and were not part of the executed agreement. These changes significantly altered the scope of the work. When we asked for clarification or alternative solutions, the situation did not move toward resolution. Instead, communication escalated to default notices and demands rather than scheduling or moving the project forward. For the Memorial location, there were no additional installation requirements; however, we were repeatedly told the project was "on track," yet no installation date was ever provided. This led to delays and unnecessary escalation. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this company make sure all installation requirements, scope details, and conditions are clearly spelled out in writing before signing a contract, and that the agreement clearly addresses remedies such as refunds or other protections if performance is delayed or not completed as agreed. read more

Buyer beware! The customer service was almost nonexistent, Alan Mendoza couldn't address the simplest requests: have you received the contract, when will the awning be measured, when will the project be completed? The 1 awning project took 2 weeks longer than the their 2 month projection, the motor on the awning is now broken after their installation, and the fabric is poorer quality than the provided samples. read more

I hired them to make covers for my moms backyard furniture. The process was very easy and they were helpful with getting the sizing for the covers. They had over a hundred colors and so many types of materials it was overwhelming but their professional staff made it very easy. Well, I gave them another chance. I called and spoke to a sales person who told me to please email as he was on the road. I obliged and sent him an email. This was May 20th. May 25th, I sent him another email as I had not heard from him. The response was basically, I will call you after the holiday. June 9th and still nothing. I'm OUT! This company sucks! Do not use this company. I ordered an awning from them and they went on vacation, then came over to my house against my wishes and put up the awning off center and the wrong size. When i asked them to Take it down, they disappeared again and went on vacation. Then when they took it down finally, they tried to sue me for payment even though I didn't have the awning in my possession. Then when they gave me a discount for messing up everything I agreed to a "contract" again, and then they wanted payment and didn't want to deliver the awning again. I'm still in this process with them. I had to get an attorney after they said they were going to try to sue me. They are ridiculous. The salesman sells you the awning, then the installer comes over and he's not allowed to answer any questions about the product, but the salesman disappears. The product is fine. Installation was fine. BUT the installed size was not the size that the salesman and I decided upon. I complained and installation said they would replace, but that meant they would have to tear out the installed one from my brick siding and try to reinstall another size in the same area. Not do-able. This would leave ugly holes in the brick. When I spoke to the salesperson Alan Z. he refused to acknowledge that we had made the change. Unfortunately we are stuck with awnings that are a foot too large and look ridiculous..... This was not a case of mis-communication but of negligence on the part of the salesman. We have a tennis court that we wanted covered on the property I work for. On the tennis courts the shade covers were attached to the light poles with cabling. The first attempt at this configurations resulted in the shades being ripped to shreds due to the wind whipping the awnings. On the second attempt, which we paid to replace the original awnings, they added more cables to support the awnings in the wind. This time the awnings did remain intact but every time the wind began to gust the awning wires would stretch and the awnings would sag more and more. The more the awning sagged the more the poles would move and bend, which caused 6 of the 8 lights to be fall of the poles and one of the poles broke off of the base footing. The lights on the tennis court will cost us several thousand dollars to replace along with resurfacing the tennis court as the pole ruined the surface as it was being blown across the court by the wind. Be forewarned they do not know what they are doing when it comes to self supported shades not attached to a building. read more

I hired US Canvas and Awning. Russell Conrad is their representative. The design and measurement was all off. As a result, thousands of dollars of possessions have been thrown in the garbage. Where there was the tie in on the side of my house, he said the silicone was not sealed properly. It was coming down like Niagra Falls. Then through the top, water was condensating and leaking down. He said the fabric was thin and that water comes through needle holes where canvas is sewen together. On the sides were two flaps held down by small metal strips. When the wind blew these would flap in the wind and make such a loud noise at night that it would wake my neighbors. Also, as it flapped water was coming in. The fabric was wrinkled and gapping in different places and Russell blamed the seamstresses. The structure was not tied into the back roof line by at least 2-3 inches, water was really pouring in there. He blamed the previous installer. I called a gutter company to get a bid for that open section. He promised for month after month after month to do something. Telescope equipment, folding bicycle, etc. had to be tossed out. Now other items are gross and rusted. What was the purpose of this make shift tarp in the first place, if it is leaking here there and everywhere? Russell says that I approved all of this. Right! I think he has been with them for 13 years. So that made me think everything would be fine. And looking at the pictures in the brochure. That made me think it would be great. What a surprise. I cannot count the times I have called and left e-mails complaining of this sad situation for my family and myself. Stringing me along, month after month. read more
