I wish there were negative stars. Orginal quote was $2740 to move from Henderson, Nevada to San Jose, California. As moving date got closer they reviewed my inventory and the price went up top around $4106. Movers came and loaded truck and revised the cost to $6375.20 Pick up was 9/14/2023 I was told by the drivers delivery to San Jose would happen in a few days. I must have called C/S everyday for 2 weeks and was told my things were in a warehouse in Nevada. On 10/2/2023 I received a call from a driver telling me my things would be delivered 10/3/2023 and to get US Post Office Money Order to pay the balance due of $2275, no cashiers check! Only Money Order or cash. I has trouble commmunicating with the caller so I called C/S again to insure that the drivers who were delivering my property spoke English as I am not bi-lingual. Well they arrived mid day and I had to use Google Translator ap to talk to the drivers! When I asked who to make the money orders payble to he showed me his credit card with his name on it so I could get the proper spelling. So the driver walked away with $2275 made payable to himself. After signing the contract the company doubled the original quoted price. They office staff is rude and spoke to me in a bullying manor. They do not return calls. My desk was broken so they gave me a credit but then added an additional $700 to my charges to "expedite" my delivery. It was a horrible and stressful experience. Originally quoted for $12000 for and entire list of items in my home. After the movers showed up late might I add they did a video walk through went out to the truck came back and said the we owe another $12000. So my bill is up to $24000. After most of my house was clear the movers told me again the I owe ANOTHER $4100. These movers stayed at my home until about three in the morning. They did not even pack up my entire house. They told me they would be back the next day to pick up the rest of the stuff in another truck. well, after several hours of calling, wondering where the movers are to pick up the rest of my stuff. I unfortunately had to throw most of it away because I had to be out of that house by the end of the day the following day, I am writing this 48 hours after the movers had originally shown up I have not heard anything from them or the company that hires them out all that I know is that my items are sitting in a warehouse in New Jersey. I was not even given a receipt of any sort of transaction when the movers requested $4100. If you are considering using a long-distance moving company, do not trust this company, they will rip you off. They will take every single dollar that you have. They are a waste of time and a waste of space. I don't know how well this company that's their movers or the companies that they are movers work for, but my house, reeks of marijuana and cigarettes for an entire two days after them being there one night I had to go and buy air fresheners and put into every single room, so the smell of marijuana was cleared out for the new buyers moving into my previous house. I pulled the plug on this company for our move. Unfortunately, it was after I gave them $1380 as a deposit. Lesson #1 - Don't do business with companies that only take ACH transfers and companies that require 1/2 the money to just "book the date". Fortunately, I canceled before I got scammed further, so it cost me a fraction of what it would have if USIR actually did the move. They are professional and act like a moving company with Binding Estimates (I've done several interstate moves with other companies). Everything in the Binding Estimate and other materials states that for the distance of our move, we'd have the load delivered in 3-7 days. They also represent that they are not a broker and they have their own truck and crews. Once the 7 day window for getting an 80% refund (according to their policy) is past, the deal changes. They send a two page Bill of Lading that is, in effect, the new contract that allows them to deliver your goods "30 business weekdays" after the first available delivery date. What's the first available delivery date? They don't know. Why do they need 6 weeks past the as-yet-unknown first available delivery date? Breakdowns, traffic, weather is their answer, which is ridiculous, I understand adding 3-5 days cushion for these type of events, not 6 weeks. What's this Premium Guarantee Service they offer to avoid the 6 week delay? The USIR reps don't know what it is, they don't know what it costs, or what kind of delivery window it provides. Any and all questions can only be answered by the driver at the time of pick up. Who does the driver work for? Apparently all USIR' did for the almost $1400 I paid them was to schedule the pick up with someone. My only recourse to avoid losing my deposit was to hope that whoever USIR sold my job to would honor their quote (there's plenty of stories of add-on charges once items were loaded), that they deliver all the goods (many reviews mention missing items), within a reasonable time (lots of complaints of waiting months for delivery) with no breakage (numerous complaints of breakage and USIR not paying for breakage). I was unwilling to take that many chances. Their lies and deceptive practices were enough to convince me that continuing with them would result in lots of money spent to buy myself nothing but aggravation. I cut my loses, hired a Penske van and dolly.com to load and unload. The move went very smoothly and I can highly recommend both Penske and Dolly. The positive reviews for this company are suspect. They could be from people who got lucky in whoever their job was sold to, or they are older reviews from a time when the company used their own trucks and crews, or the reviews are fake. My First move across country. My husband passed two years ago so I decided to go live in Michigan with my son. moving from California. Very nervous and not sure how to accomplish this I called USIR. The man on the phone sounded very convincing. Moved October 25th. The guys were on time, however, even though I took less than I told the gentleman on the phone it ended costing me double what they said. the guys loaded my stuff on the truck. I got part of my stuff on Thanksgiving evening. things had been taken out of their original boxes and just tossed in other boxes. Totes broken, dresser broken Mirror broken, patio table broken. many very old dishes figurines broken. this cost me double what they originally told me. I called the company explaining I was missing many items including expensive tools. I was told that the items were located. I have heard nothing and it is almost New Years. I do not know how this company can stay in business. After reading their reviews I find I am not the only one this has happened to. I tried to file a claim but it was ridiculously impossible. I did not get an itemized list when they picked the stuff up. So probably like some. I just said forget it. But I can leave this review and hope people are warned before hiring this company. While my sister and family had already moved, their things were still at my home so I was the one in contact with the movers. My sister discussed with them all the items she had and they gave her a quote prior to the pick up date. On the scheduled pick up date, I showed the movers all of my sisters things. After looking at all the items they stated they cant take it all unless my sister pays an additional $5K. I was in disbelief because why would any company want to charge extra money after stating a certain amount and having a signed contract in place. Also why would they think people will be open to pay thousands of dollars without agreeing to it prior. After discussing this issue with a manager (that was very rude), we decided they will take somethings and have to leave some. This was very stressful for my sister and her family because they needed all their things. After 1 week of waiting they finally delivered my sister's things just to tell her it will be an additional amount to drop it off because of the kind of truck they had. Once they dropped their things off my sister realize they broke her tv, broke so many of her kitchenware, and misplaced some items. When I spoke to their Customer Service, I asked if there was anything I could do and was told "no, this was it." * The packers were efficient and had the truck loaded in three hours. This was the only positive experience. * I had 30 days of free storage in my contract. In early mid-July, I began trying to contact them to arrange an additional month of storage. o Stacy, the Storage Customer Service representative was unclear in her communication, inconsistent with her responses, and rude on the phone. o I had to get Emerald Van Lines involved to try to get a response from USI&R. They were able to follow-up and respond to these. Thank you Tatyana! * When my items were finally in storage for an additional month, I called them on 8/18 to determine where my items were. I understand and it is clearly stated in their contract that they have 30 days to deliver it from my first available delivery date; however, see the experience below. o On 8/18 I spoke with Michelle who said my items were going to be delivered in 3-7 days from the date of departure, which was 8/17. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and she said she was the Supervisor. o On 8/23 I spoke with Jen who said my items were still near my state of origin and they would be delivered in 7-10 days from the date of departure. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and she said she was the Supervisor. I asked to speak to whomever she reports to and Stacy came on the phone after a 15-minute hold. * This is the same Stacey from storage. She said that the items would be delivered within 30 business days but could be delivered on a Saturday or a Sunday. * I explained my frustration of having spoken to 3 different people and gotten 3 different timelines of deliver. I called Emerald Movers and asked for their assistance in getting a timeline so I could plan for my family's needs in an empty house. I'm fine with the 30 days of delivery, but I needed to make plans for my toddler's sleeping arrangements. No response from Emerald. Cindy called me on 8/23 at 4 PM and explained that she worked in dispatch and she would be in contact from me from this point forward to help share the arrival information. * After we hung up, she texted me and asked for the delivery address. This was concerning because it had been shared with the company a month prior. Drew called me at 6 PM on 8/23 and said that I would need to pay an additional $2000 for a box shuttle because the "tractor trailer couldn't drive into or out of my neighborhood." Or, I would have to rent a U-Haul type of vehicle in order move my items, but once the items were loaded in my U-Haul, they were no longer liable. I said that the tractor trailer could get in and out of the neighborhood and Drew said he would talk to the driver and call me back. No return call that night. I called Drew on 8/24 @ 7:30 PM asking for an update. * My HOA was able to provide evidence that tractor trailers can access the neighborhood and exit the neighborhood without any issues. I shared this information with Drew on 8/24 and he said he would call me back after he spoke to the driver. * I sent videos and pictures of the roads and intersection where our house is on 8/24 per their request. No phone call back. I called Drew on 8/25 @ 12:45 asking for an update and he said he would call John, who was with the driver and then he would call me back. Drew called me back at 12:50 on 8/25 stating that they "had found a box shuttle and will deliver for free. They anticipate my items arriving on 8/27." I called Drew on 8/26 @ 4:05 PM asking for an update because I had not heard from the driver. He called me back at 4:09 saying the "driver is delayed because he couldn't get the whole load [prior to mine] unloaded and will arrive on 8/28." The driver called me on 8/27 confirming the arrival between 8-9 AM on 8/28. * Items were not reassembled including treadmill, Peloton, bed frames, and The number of items that were damaged in this move was obscene. There were multiple broken dishes, bins, and boxes. Two bins arrived at my house with no lid on them. Many of the bins had footprints on the lid where they had been stepped on and walked across. Seven of the bins, made of hard, durable plastic, were badly broken and missing complete pieces. The furniture is filthy and needs to be professionally cleaned. The dining room table and coffee table have deep scratched in them that were not there prior to the move. The dining buffet has two drawers that are completely broken. I have had nothing but problems with them. They have rescheduled my pickup date 4 times. They tried to upcharge me 800 dollars after taking 1200 for a deposit because we have boxes to move. In the end I'm having to rent a truck and move it myself. Customer service is a waste of time because they keep telling me there's nothing they can and do it will be tomorrow. I would like to warn everyone about this moving company. They represented that they were a direct moving company . They are not. They have you wire 1/2 deposit upon signing and then you can't get them to move you. Per our contract we were scheduled for a pick up on August 2 from Idaho to California. To date no one has called back to schedule it. We were forced to have a friend pack up a POD and have it shipped to us in California since we could not fly due to my 83 year old husband having a heart attack. When you call the so called customer service no one will give you their last name. We sent an email to the corporate office In Ohio requesting our deposit of $1,300 back and have heard nothing and also sent a certified letter to the Dept of Transportation advising them of their suspicious business practices. DO NOT USE  US Interstate and Rail!!!!   or allow anyone you care about to engage them as your moving company.  Reviews were good (until you do a deep dive), price was right, but they don't deliver on their promises.  Not only that, your furniture will be damaged, some of it will be missing and it could be days, even weeks before you receive your belongings.  It does not matter what they tell you on the phone, it does not matter what you sign in the days before your move.   What they do is have you sign the final papers as the workers are distracting you as they are packing the truck, asking questions, etc.  The 'brokers' add a 'delivery window' of 3-30 days (no matter what they've told you) into the final paperwork, in small print, in an area you've already signed off on.  Once your belongings are on their contractor's trucks, they claim to have no knowledge of when your items will be delivered or even where they are.  There is no contact until the driver calls you the night before delivery. Now, to be fair, we did get our stuff in 10 days, though we were promised 3-5 at the most and we packed our cars/suitcases accordingly.  From what I read on a couple websites we were VERY lucky.  More than one review had people discussing how they were desperately trying to reach these people because their medications and dialysis equipment and the like were on those trucks.  They too had packed according to when US Interstate and Rail claimed they would have their belongings to them.   All that being said.....   We now have a refrigerator with a large dent in the door, several dings, dents, gouges and scarring of our furniture, a couple of pictures with broken glass, my large 'pocket watch' clock has the top broken off, even the back of my mattress was ripped.  They also literally cover everything with low quality packing tape that leaves a sticky residue on almost everything.  I'm still working to get it off the dented fridge.   Also, one of my large floor lamps, a rechargeable sweeper and heaven knows what else I haven't realized yet did not arrive with all our other things.  But they never switch items from truck to truck.....sure they don't.  Those boxes were so beat up I'm surprised more wasn't damaged.   Take care, beware and always check with the BBB at the very least! read more

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY - THEY ARE A SCAM!!!! If I could give ZERO Stars I would!! They originally quoted us about $6k to move our 3 bedroom house from Phoenix, AZ to Denver, CO and then also gave us 2 months of free storage.. or so they said. We paid them 1/3 of the quote that day. On the day of the move, they showed up, and took 5 hours to wrap up our furniture (We had already packed all of our stuff in boxes ourselves). Then at 6pm, while I was trying to put our 5 month old baby down for a nap, they pressured us into signing a new contract because they told us we had more stuff than they had originally quoted us. They would not load our stuff onto their truck unless we signed. (Such a Red flag - we should have sent them away). The new quote was for $10k!!! We called Customer Service and they explained that they would be sending a new contract once they got our stuff to their storage where they could properly measure the room we would be taking up. We foolishly believed that BS. We paid another $3k that day to them. By the end of the night, one of the guys wouldn't help move anything else, and my husband had to move our things himself. They also wouldn't let us load about $3k worth of patio furniture, because it wasn't on their original video they took when they first got there. This was never explained to us. They called us a week later and told us they were arriving in Denver and needed an address to drop off our stuff. They told us we were no longer getting 2 months of free storage and if they had to store our stuff for any period of time, we would be charged $2,600 - on top of the $4,500 they were demanding just to get our items off the truck!!! They would also only take Cash.. it was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. We were completely Scammed!! DO NOT USE THEM, THEY ARE AWFUL. ATTENTION, WORST MOVING COMPANY. DO NOT HIRE. I was quoted 5200.00 to move a two bedroom apartment from NY to NC. The truck did not show up when scheduled, no one at customer service could give me an answer when I should expect the truck. When the truck did arrive a day late, they showed up at 7:15 PM and did not finish until 2:15 AM. When the driver arrived he said I was underquoted and my new quote will be 7998.00. I should of fired the company immediately but my lease was up and I was unable to extend it to find a new moving company. The movers did a horrific job packing my items. They threw everything in boxes without properly wrapping the items. I spent hours on the phone to get clarity on when my items will be delivered. I received 3 different answers and none of them were right. When the truck finally arrived, they said I needed to pay 4250.00 since I had express service. I guess waiting 7 days to get your items delivered is express service. When the movers were downloading my furniture it was all damaged. I had a total of 34 severely damaged items. This company and its employees are arrogant, disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. I would of been a lot better off using a larger company and would have paid less. TOTAL SCAM. They lie about their prices. They don't pick up your items on the date scheduled, or deliver them on the scheduled delivery date. When they arrived at the house they did a quick walk through and called their supervisor and the price went up $3000.00 which had to be paid in cash before they would pack up my household items. Then I called them a week before they were supposed to deliver them and they told me that my stuff is in storage at one of their facilities and I have to pay for the storage before they can deliver it. I said that it was never supposed to go into storage that it was supposed to be delivered to my storage unit in Rapid City SD. I had to pay in US postal money order the storage fee to have my item taken out of their storage and delivered to mine. In which I had to pay a delivery fee. Plus a over 75 foot fee per trip. So the move that was supposed to cost me $5400.00 ended up costing me $22000.00 such a huge difference and they didn't care how they handled my items either. These guys will take a highly detailed inventory of all your things that need to be moved, quote you $2,000, show up a few days later and take a 5 second peek at your stuff and change their quote to $10,000, knowing fully well that you have to be out of your house the next day and there's no time to find a different company. I usually don't do reviews but I decided to do this to help others. If you are looking for a moving company please avoid this company, they are scammers! If there was a way to rate this company a zero or kick them out of business for scamming hardworking and innocent people, I would. They are only after your money, they are extremely unprofessional and rude. Our moving date was scheduled for July 20th they changed it to July 21st after waiting for the driver for nine hours they called and said our moving date was changed to July 22nd without explanation. We were moving from Westerville OH to St. Cloud MN and based on the estimate they took, we were charged $4,800 for 740 cu ft. When the driver arrived on July 22nd, we ended up paying $7,800 because the driver said we had large items that our belongings could not fit in the space we purchased. It took the driver and the guy who came to load the truck 11 hours to load the truck. Please do not make business with this company, save your money and save yourself the stress. They will give you the run-around and one lie after another, they are criminals do not trust them or else you will regret it. read more
