It was my first time visiting this location and I immediately passed right by it because it reflected a hole in in wall with no signage indicating it was there if you missed the front door itself with some covid social distancing and mask measures. I had an encounter with the mean bald man here today. I saw the two stars before heading over and thought it couldn't be that bad. Now I think two stars are a gift for these folks. I had 3 heavy boxes of books and 3 boxes of lighter things. There was not a single soul in the post office except me. I'd left in a rush, and didn't write the to: and from: information on 4 of the 6 packages I had because that was MY OWN HOME ADDRESS as I'm moving back to California, and I figured I would write it quickly while in line. My Lyft driver very kindly helped me with the heavy boxes, and we go up to Baldie's window where he chews me out for not have ALL boxes addressed COMPLETELY WITH A TO AND FROM. Okay, fine, so I pull out a marker to start writing. OH NOOOOO. I HAVE to go back to the counter at the back of the room to write on them, then drag about 80 lbs. of boxes back up. I flat out told him I wasn't doing that. I moved near a pillar and started writing. Baldie flips out completely screaming that I'm blocking all the other customers. To which I waved my hand to the empty room. He's still screaming at me, so I told him I absolutely was not moving these heavy boxes because I have a torn rotator cuff, which is absolutely true. I was pushing it to get things as far as I did. His response? "Well, I don't know that!" to which I said, "Now you know. I just told you! I'm not moving these heavy boxes." Then the other clerk tries to be helpful and offers to move my boxes for me to the desk way in the back. And I told him no because I can't move them back up. He started to say something else and I just couldn't take any more badgering and said, "If you two would quit pestering me I'd already have this done and be out of your hair!" Now that I think about it, maybe offering to get out of his hair further offended Baldie. So, then other customers start to come in, and Baldie very loudly tells people over and over, "She's got a torn rotator cuff!" I hated having to even tell him why I couldn't carry heavy packages, and I hated even MORE that he kept repeating it loudly for everyone to hear, but I'm sure that was his point. Oh, and an older guy with a cane comes in and he's nearly chaperoned directly to the front and given lots of assistance before everyone in line (including me.) I my torn rotator cuff combined with almost 100 lbs of boxes somehow less important than a guy with a cane and a letter? Literally ONE ENVELOPE. I ended up getting into the line after everything was labeled, and after hearing them tell people who came to the desk without a letter or box labeled that they could write on their package and come straight to the front of the line once they were ready. Of course, this also put them in front of me, even though I'd been there longer than anyone in the room other than employees. I'm honestly considering a complaint to the ADA about these guys--especially Baldie. What he did was rude, uncalled for and would have taken far less time if he'd done his part while I wrote on the packages, and maybe I'd be able to use my shoulder above chest high tonight, but sadly after all this extra schlepping I'm not. When I told him I couldn't carry the packages reasonable accomodations should have been made. Instead I was subject to rudeness, humiliation and bullying because this very mean and angry man decided to target me and use that bit of authority granted him by the USPS in the worst manner possible. I swear to God, the clerks on duty there today, particularly Baldie, were just trying to get me to break down in tears in front of them. And these bastards almost succeeded. Shame on them. read more

When it was finally my turn, the employee (male) began making insulting remarks, saying my face was "as red as my coat" and that I was "going crazy." Steer clear. There's a new guy working here who has no idea what he's doing (doesn't know how to read a form, doesn't know how to navigate a menu) and he pressures people because there's a line. It's not my fault there's a line, dude; why are you the only one working? There's also a family waiting for the passport guy. They arrived for a 9:15 appointment, and I left at 9:35 with them still waiting for him to show up to work. They said this was their second appointment; last time he also never showed. I ordered several items from AliExpress, a company located in China, and they shipped these packages through USPS with a wrong shipping address. When I noticed that one of the orders was going to be returned to sellers because of the fault address, I went to my local Post Office ------ Brookline Branch, immediately. The friendly agent, Keith is super-nice and very helpful. He went to check the status for me and brought 3 of the packages out without full shipping address. Since there are still some other items that they hadn't received yet, Keith and his supervisor decided to keep eyes on my orders and try not to return them. I understand these extra efforts both Keith and his supervisor have been doing are out of their responsibilities, but they just do their best to help customers. I don't know how to express my appreciations, but can only say: Good People, Great Jobs!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I just waited an hour in line (not an exaggeration) to mail a tiny envelope package! When I got to the window, I mentioned to the bald man at the window that I know it's not his fault but waiting in line for an hour to mail a letter is a really long time. Boy, did I regret that. He got so unbelievably rude telling me "I don't think it was an hour. If you don't like it talk to your congressman. I wait in lines all the time. It builds character. I don't come up and complain...." I had to try and stop him by saying "yea we're done here," but he just kept on going. It was truly unbelievable. But really, there were elderly people, people with babies, and the line was about 20 people deep. I WAITED AN HOUR. I WAITED AN HOUR. The girl in front of me just wanted a stamp. It was a nightmare. I work for the government and have to deal with people everyday, and their frustrations are real. A little empathy goes a long way in making them feel heard. If he cared enough, maybe he could try and do something about it. But he is just an unhappy man who has been doing the wrong job for too long. read more

This has to be the worst post office in the world. I was there with my 5 and 2 year old to get our passports. I don't mind waiting in line, but the way they manage the line is absurd. After waiting over an hour in line, the 2 families in front of me forgot to bring a check/money order to pay for the passports, as did I. They only accept debit cards as payment for money orders which is also fine. As I waited for my husband who was sitting in our car to bring me a debit card, I went to the end of the line. Debit card in hand I was next in line. Then the 2 families that forgot their form of payment returned and the clerk let both of them go in front of me. So here I am with 2 wild kids who waited in line for probably 2 hours and I'm back where I started. I admit I was upset and spoke up, but the response from the nasty clerks was not professional either. Why is working in a post office so difficult? They have a cushy government job with great salaries and pensions, but they are some of the most rude and miserable people I have ever encountered. I am so thankful the Brookline Village post office where they are friendly and helpful is right around the corner and is my go to office. I will never go back to that unorganized, unprofessional post office with the worst customer service. P.S. They manage the package line the same way. The man in charge of processing passport applications is extremely rude. He kept screaming at me to give him the paperwork faster. Once I gave him the paperwork he started screaming do you have checks or credit card to pay, I said yes, and showed to him and he screamed to me again, I did not ask you to show it to me. THEY WILL MISPLACE YOUR PACKAGES!!!! They've dropped packages belonging to other addresses infront of my door. I tracked an order they claimed to have delivered, I stayed home all day and NOTHING WAS DROPPED. I spoke to someone who said she will be calling me back but never did. I called back the next day to follow up, only to get a "disconnect tune". I used a friends phone to dial the same number and it went through, STOP THE FOOLERY. The guy I spoke with hung up and all of a sudden its another disconnection tune. You are not making any attempt to help find a package YOUR mailman misplaced. It does not indicate my package being dropped at my apartment either, just a zip code. Update: After 2 days of going back and forth, I decided to contact the HQ. This is a great post office! There can be lines, but it's not one of those lines where it doesn't move because you can see the people are incompetent. The staff is just trying to do a great job and be patient with each customer. And my mail carrier knows my name and apartment number when he sees me - so cool! I just wrote a review of a post office. Surprised by the very low stars on this place though I get why- most of the time, the lines here are gruelingly long!!! But who cares when they have one of the USPS's awesome SELF SERVICE kiosks?! I am such a fan of this thing and for some reason, most people who come to this location are either not aware of it or aren't comfortable using it (though it couldn't be easier). That means there's almost never a line (I've never had more than 1 person in front of me using it) and I can get in and out QUICKLY. Big win. All in all, this is my choice USPS location though it's not the one that serves my office (that would be Kenmore) or my home (Charlestown). Most importantly, it's open til 7:00pm vs. much earlier hours at other locations, so that just seals the deal for me! read more

Who reviews a post office? Someone that decided to avoid the long line and thought using chute made for packages that have prepaid labels on them would be no problem. Boy was I wrong. Dropped off about 12 packages 2 weeks ago, half of them didn't get scanned, the other half got lost. Waited and waited, finally spoke to Jerry the supervisor who looked awful busy with his pen in his ear, nodding his head along as if he was listening and wanted to do something. Took down tracking numbers and told me he'd call me with an update and apologized. Another week passed, of course no update. I called again after noticing an additional package was not labeled as it being scanned when I dropped it off the other day. I called and magically got Jerry, who checked on the tracking number and told me it probably was a smaller package so they didn't scan it in and was probably missed. He then recognized my name and told me that essentially when you put things in the chute they're not big packages then they likely will get missed...aka whoever stands behind the door and picks up the packages from the shoot is too lazy to look if there's anything he left behind and can't do his job normally. Jerry also advised me that I should probably just wait in line and have the packages scanned but then I also advised him there's a virus going around in case he wasn't aware of it and I'd like to avoid crowded places as much as possible especially since they are doing a horrible job of practicing social distancing, I also suggested that maybe he would have people that actually would do their job and just instead of just sitting on their ass all day behind a glass. The saga continues as I have to find another package that Jerry and his friends lost and can't function properly to do the one and only job they had which was ship my items. read more

I was interested in purchasing some stamps and though they were out of the ones I was looking for, they went out of their way to show other options in case I was interested in something else. This post office is *always* crowded. There is no point in going unless you have a solid hour-2 hours to wait in line to send a package. They do have 1 self service kiosk for domestic mail, which moves faster but they should really install another. read more

My family and I had a terrible experience. We went to apply for a new passport for our kid. Our kid just had a COVID shot and was not feeling well. But the officer was eager to leave and was yelling at us because we seemed a bit distracted by the child. He showed passive-aggressive demeanor and used impolite language. I have been experiencing issues with delivery where USPS sends me a notification saying the package was delivered and then it only arrives several days later. Finally, after calling and getting stuck with a bot with no option to speak to a human, I went to my local post office, and, after waiting in line for 30 minutes, got stuck with a supervisor that said "it says delivered sorry I cant help you". Well it said delivered many times before when it wasn't. Cannot imagine such a thing happening with Fedex or UPS and I can assure you that their customer service was better. read more

I was appalled with the customer service I received here. My 16-yr-old son and I came twice (the first time we came we learned that we should have made an appointment, even though I had CALLED AHEAD and was told NO APPOINTMENT WAS NEEDED HERE). So when we came totally prepared, with a scheduled appointment, we were treated by this particular employee-- who, I believe, has been negatively reviewed here already-- like we were totally out of line for showing up and bothering him. Every word that came out of his mouth was terse and condescending. I would go so far as to say he is abusive, and has no business working with customers. He seemed almost satisfied that we would not be getting the passport because we didn't have a debit card to pay the fee for an expedited passport (we came 3 MONTHS in advance and that is considered expedited!). The whole passport process seems to be a racket, but that's for another review. While we were standing there we witnessed 2 other folks come in for passports and get turned away because they also didn't know you had to make an appointment. Couldn't they put a sign up at the door to alert people to the process, if not AMEND THE ONLINE INFORMATION? It was a sorry place, with long lines of aggravated, though patient, people, a self-service machine that was out of order and general understaffing. I recommend you find another post office. If you don't have a passport need, go to Brookline Village. I'm still figuring out the best place to get a passport. read more
