Waited a little over an hour.

This has nothing to do with the workers. They've always been kind and it's even harder to service customers during a pandemic so have patience. You'll need it to wait over an hour for your package pick up, even if you go before they open. That's what I did. They have horrible reviews. I get it! No one likes to wait but waiting is apart of life. If we based reviews off of waiting everyone would have crappy reviews. They are working at limited services for social distancing purposes. Don't go angry! Pee before you have the house. Maybe have a yogurt! Lol go with time on your hands. What I'm not happy about it having to pick this package up in the first place when I was home yet somehow 'missed' the delivery. But that's a conversation for USPS as a whole. Not a singular post office. Senior hours are 8-8.30am Tuesday and Thursday You're welcome Senior! Stay safe!

The Line on a Saturday ( most of the time)

Absolutely not!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS POST OFFICE. It's no way in the world, we live in 2023 and the line on a Saturday morning is this long. It's no way in the world that this post office is FILTHY. It's no way in the world this post office has no ventilation. I just don't understand why you put your customers in this area through this. HIRE MORE PEOPLE. Some renovations would be nice. The lines are always longer than my ex-boyfriends lies. And those were long. I hope the US Postal Service reads this review. Because this community doesn't deserve this type of service.

Package pick up line is really long, often out the door any day any time. Often, I've stayed home all day waiting for the package and it never comes, I'm left no notice, and have to track it down here. People's frustration of this place are NOT entitlement issues. It's one small post office covering a very large area and it's clearly not getting anywhere near the resources it needs. Everyone in this line is paying their fair share of taxes too and deserve a decent post office. Never have any issues with the USPS near my office in a wealthy Manhattan area. Maybe look into what "entitlement" means before you critique an underserved lower income area. UPDATE: My postman left a slip in my mailbox AFTER I picked up my package! I wonder if they talked to him about it and tried to cover his tracks. This continues to be a system that is really hard to trust. PS USPS is not funded by tax dollars people. They privatized (I think in the 1970's?). This is actually WHY you want it to be federally funded and not privatized. This is what will happen to schools if privatize them as well.

Nothing beats your own space, but their assistance to tenants throughout this ordeal and housing us at hotels throughout the city is indeed appreciated. They say in your hour of need you'll know who your friends are. I have the most amazing friends! From my pals who I'm able to live with until things get sorted, those who came through last minute to retrieve my belongings from my flat (which thankfully wasn't affected except for smoke and a drizzle of water), to my Yelp-Mates who continue checking in, making sure I'm okay. I feel sooooo soooo SO incredibly BLESSED. All of that to say I wasn't in the headspace to come here, to THIS Post Office to pick up mail and other business AFTER READING THE TERRIFYING REVIEWS ONLINE. The Lord was with me. EVERYONE I interacted with here was extremely graceful! From the time I said the address they knew of the situation and were so kind and compassionate. Truth be told, from the level of service I received and the other customer staff interactions I noticed, great service seems to be the motto. Maybe staff from those reviews is no longer here? Maybe they've retrained? I'm not sure BUT GREAT SERVICE WAS PRESENT! I want to S/O Mr. Dennis Laws in particular. His service was top-notch! Exemplary! Imagine going in feeling like I was about to be beaten (lol) and walking out so light and pleased. Thank You Post Office St Johns! I 100% RECOMMEND HERE! 2023 Seasons greetings... The End.

I'm old enough to remember when packages were an exception and not the norm. The system was never designed to have carriers lug around 100 boxes a day. That said, this post office can swing from super nice service to vexing in a heartbeat. The local carriers often fail to give you any notice or the yellow slip indicating a package has even been attempted. If it weren't for tracking info, sometimes I'd never even know a package was returned to sender, having never so much as appeared on my radar. And when I trudge over to the post office to do their job, depending on which employee you get, their response ranges from indifferent to 'works really hard to at least make this part of the experience a positive one and find your package.' This post office at least has a few staff like that, and if you don't go during the most popular hours of the day, your wait can be very short. I've certainly dealt with much worse post offices, so this one gets an extra star from me.

Young lady calls me up, has an attitude, barely wanting to say words. I tell her there aren't any slips out to write the address for the small package. She prints out a small piece of receipt paper and says write the address it's going to. I did, then she makes a smart comment along the lines of what part of my instructions weren't clear--write you return address...mind you, that little receipt paper wasn't big enough to write both. I was going to show her the other from my business card. I know nothing is going to change bc it's been the culture at this location since I moved to this part of BK some years ago. There was a line, but it was moving fast. All the workers were kind and helpful. I was directed to the passport window, and the woman in the window was nice, helpful, and accommodating. She told me the prices, so I could write the checks on the spot, and answered all the questions I had about delivery time. I get it.....it''s not the easiest job, and I appreciate the workers' efforts in general ar USPS.....but I have no words to describe just how awful this branch is. They lost an entire architectural model, just returned to sender rather than even notify me. I watched a woman go into a crying fit over a lost package, where she begged and begged for them to look...after 3 tries they finally looked, 5 minutes later...PRESTO! package was found! If you send someone a package here, make it a loud color so the employees have an easier time finding it, as there obviously is a shortage of staff. It's been awful since 1995 when I moved to Williamsburg, so it's only worse now. We need a Northside branch.
