Should you have a few vacation days, feel free to take some whenever you need to get ANYTHING accomplished at this post office. It is just awful! There is no nice way to put this - it SUCKS. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to pick up a package 6 times. I have went on various days, early morning, right before close etc. and it is next to impossible. Though it seems to me that their customer service is getting better, I continually seem to have bad experiences at this post office. Sure it doesn't look that great, but many times I've been treated poorly. Long lines and employees never seem to move quickly, be polite, or care. read more

I have my issues with this post office but it's not any different from others I've been to all over NYC. My problem is with some trashy customers like one time I was being helped by the manager and this little cranky hipster B@$*# stormed in demanding they take her packages so he leaves me and when he goes to her she starts piling boxes upon boxes on his arms like he's her slave or something. She was so obnoxious, so I had to wait another 20 minutes so he could tend to her. I wish I had said something but I didn't realize it would take so long with this her. read more

It's hit and miss with this post office. I called about non-delivery of a prescription, which was sent UPS via the post office. A nice man at the P.O. took my name and address down, put me on hold, checked for my package, and told me he couldn't find it. He suggested it be reshipped. While he was helpful, what happened to my package? UPS tracking information showed it arrived at this P.O. and was scheduled for delivery a week later. Now, a week after its scheduled delivery date, my prescription has simply disappeared. No delivery has been made on my package, as the tracking info clearly shows. I'll take the helpful P.O. man's advice and have the prescription reshipped. Probably to my work address and not through 11222. read more

I have had bad experiences with this post office over the years. But I just want to say that Barbara Forde is the best. I went to pick up a package which was being held there. I brought a copy the information from the USPS website. She tried very hard to locate it, and spent more than half an hour looking . She assured me that it would turn up, and gave me her number to call the next day. She also took my phone number. Two hours later she gave me a call to let me know she found the package. I will never ever ship any item to the Greenpoint Post Office again. They say the postage on my package was not enough and tried to pull out more money from me. Otherwise they would not deliver that package. My post office here where I dropped the package had no problems with the postage and my measurements and weight was accurate. if you were a positive person with a huge faith in humanity it will completely wither and die when you have to deal with the usps especially meserole station , ive witnessed first hand accounts of packages being stolen , supervisors covering it up and the never ending ping pong of phone numbers and phone calls to get someone to care and take it seriously now let me just say this , ( my building wont speak for other buildings ) has one regular person that delivers by truck and one on feet the one on foot is such a nice man we have had him for quite a few years now since our guy kevin left which was also our guy for years both know you by name and greet you and your family and you never missed a pkgs with them the one on truck was such a sweet man as well had him for years and would greet you anywhere in the neighborhood and knew everyone in my household by name and if he saw a pkgs sitting in the back of the station that wasnt due to go on the truck he would know that there was a mess up and grab it and deliver , even knocked on my door one morning with a pkgs that had been missing for a month and i called everywhere to talk to eveyone and it was what i thought missing forever he came across it in the back of the station under some carts in a area where he said it should have never been but he was my hero , now for the past couple of weeks he is gone i figured he was on vacation , but calling the station about a missing package i was told he picked a new route only to be told by another carrier that he was forced to move to a different route despite proclaiming he didnt want to go , so now there is someone else on the truck and i have had issues with claiming delivery attempts that never happened then talking to a supervisor there and being told my pkgs would be sent back out the next day only to check status online and see there was a attempt again which wasnt true but the supervisor stated she tracked the workers gps and saw her attempt to deliver which also wasnt true she pulled and waited a few minutes then pulled away , had to send my son to then pick it up the next day becasue after a week of this and my disablities and me living way to far away to get it myself ive had enough , now about two weeks later which is now the present time i knew my packages were due yesterday i ckek my mail find nothing, i go online check the stautus for both one said attempted delivery no safe location , the other said buisness was closed , WTF? im not a buisness and if you can slip a blill in the box you could have slipped the small package in did i mention there were no slips left either ? nope there wasnt , is this my regular mailman on foot ? no way his delivery rate is 100% with me is he on vacation and someone filled in ? i will find out today as i sit in front of my building all day and wait to see , as for the mail that had been stole a little over a year ago my mailman on foot was on vacation we get this mail carrier named triston he was scanning and marking packages as delivered i have about 8 small pkgs coming that week one of them he marks delivered but i wasnt so i wait the next day in my lobby for him to come to see who this is because i just new if this is happening its not my regualr guy so sure enough he walks in i say hi how are you ? he with a tude says hi i make more small talk oh your new whats your name ? he says triston , i watch him pull all the mail in ( 42 apts in my building ) now i know for a fact the i have more out for delivery that day but he finishes up and he never put a package in any box i say wow no pkgs for anyone here today he says no , all along i know whats going on so i wait a couple of hours and sure enough they were marked as deliverd , so the nextday in outside bright a early and i get asked my a neighbor have you been getting ur mail well no why whats up well i never got my pkgs or a check i was waiting for , well we were heard talking buy someone else in my building who never recieved his check for over 1200.00 by the time the convo ended there was 8 of us that had a bad week with this carrier so we all wait a while he shows up now theres a about a 12 of us in the lobby including my kdis they want to get a first hand look at the man and watch him to see if he actaully deiivers anything well this day was his downfall because i had 3 more pckgs that were out for delivery that day and he pulls them out the cart takes a couple of steps over to a corner wall and scans a couple with his back to us not near the mailboxes you hear the beeps andn he puts them back in the cart and grabs a few more and does the same thing scans them in the corn back facing us and puts them back in the cart , we were stunned that he had the balls to do that in from of us i told him hey triston are those my pkgs your scanning in the corner ? I gave this post office 5 stars because the people who work there seem to put care into their jobs. I wrote the wrong zip code on a package, realized it and then agonized in frustration. I put my son's Brooklyn zip on a package going to my daughter somewhere else in NY. Long story short the Brooklyn post office corrected the zip code and sent the package on to the correct destination. If there was a negative stars, I'd give it for this place. The staff is slow, rude and some barely speak English. I've often witnessed the staff hanging out and chatting just behind the teller windows while 25 people wait in a line that never moves. They never have all the windows staffed, even at peak times. Avoid this place at all costs. The lobby is always a mess and never stocked properly with boxes and forms. They act like the staff is in a war zone with the ridiculous barriers that the packages must go through. This place is terrible, avoid at all costs. read more

If you need to use this post office, use the automated machine. Most of the staff here are fine and some are even pleasant but there's one woman in particular who is absolutely horrible to deal with. I've experienced her incredible rudeness multiple times and witnessed other customers complaining loudly about her to the manager on more than once occasion. She's just awful. She loves to open people's packages and hassle them to no end. I refuse to ever deal with her again. The service you get here is wildly inconsistent. read more

They never fail to disappoint. Once again, I waited at home all day for a package that never arrived. When I check the tracking number on the website, what do you know, it says delivery was attempted and a door tag was left. My doorbell never rang and no door tag was to be found. This post office branch and their employees are WORTHLESS! But, as always, if you try to call you get no answer or the promise of a return call from a manager that never happens. read more

This is one of the slowest Post Offices around, Most of the time only one window is open and there is always a line with at least 8 people.

It's pretty obvious that there is something fishy going on at this post office from reading these reviews here on Yelp. I also had my package "lost". I recently upgraded my phone from Verizon, and returned it with the return label and box provided by Verizon. I physically took this box myself, walked INTO the Post office, and dropped it in the Self Service box myself securely to make sure it went inside. This was almost 3 weeks ago, Mind you it was going to NJ. Verizon now wants to charge me $200.00 for a phone that I don't have anymore. How is it possible to "lose" my package when it has my Name and Address as sender, and Verizons address as recipient? Obviously, someone or some people are stealing these packages for themselves here. The Post Office workers are the only ones with access to this Self Service box. The boxes, and packages don't just disappear from the time they open the box to the time they put it in their carts. There are way too many complaints here about missing boxes and packages for it to be a coincidence. I'm going to complain to a higher authority about this. These people should be fired for missing packages, but their whole attitude is that it wasn't scanned so it's not their problem. Sorry wrong answer. BE CAREFUL with this Post office. I lived in Greenpoint for 14 years and the mail service and post office itself were frustratingly awful: lost packages, misdelivered mail, refusing to forward mail after multiple forms submitted, PO called, complaint forms filed, etc. Then we moved to Woodside, Queens for 2 years and my local PO rivaled the awfulness and actually won. Frequently delayed packages sitting in the PO according to tracking, sometimes for weeks!! Or saying "out for delivery" for weeks!! Stuff delivered to the wrong building even though the address was written correctly, frequently getting other people's mail from different apartments or different street addresses, etc. Moved back to Greenpoint recently and I have to say the service is vastly improved from what I remember. I get all my packages in a timely manner, nothing lost in 8 months. A friend mailed me a package but erred on my street address so she called this PO and actually spoke with someone who was kind enough to locate the package and rewrite the correct address and had it out for delivery the next day. I was in serious shock and awe. And I haven't had any issues with package delivery since I moved back here. The staff at the PO have been friendly and more efficient. So, if you think it's awful on Meserole, move to Woodside to find out what horrific really is. read more

Totally agree with the last poster. If you lived in Greenpoint longer than ten minutes, along with the rest of the hipster influx, you would know where the beginning of the line was and where it ended. I have been going to this tiny little post office for the better part of twenty-five years, and it's actually improved tremendously in terms of faster, more efficient service. If a fight broke out, that's pretty unusual, the only freaking out or ragging I've ever heard was from the elitist, need-immediate-attention/gratification hipsters who do, indeed, feel they are the center of the universe. If you don't like it, perhaps you should move to Brownsville or Bed Stuy and cop that attitude, see how far it gets you and how many people are amused. The people in this post office work hard and do their best. They don't get a lot of appreciation, so try doling some out the next time you are there. Or imagine what it might be like to work there and live on what they are earning. When you give nice, you get nice. Get over yourself. read more

Anthony C, it's good to know someone has had a great experience at this post office, but I have been witness many times to some of the most rude behavior from one staff member in particular. I just spoke to a friend who told me how this morning she was the first person in the line waiting to buy stamps. When she got to the counter the woman behind suddenly sneered at her and screamed out in a rude way..."GOOD MORNING TO YOU TOO"!! and my friend who hasn't a mean bone in her body was made to feel like she had insulted the woman, when all she was doing was going about her business trying to buy some stamps. In fact, she said she was too scared to say good morning because this woman could turn a pleasantly said "good morning" into some kind of insult against her. My friend was angry at being made to feel like a naughty child but held it in check and went on her way. Be aware this place is incredibly horrible and the staff can turn a normal, even keeled person into a raging bull in a split second! I know this because I have witnessed it too many times and can say the problem every time is with the staff, one person in particular.
