Postmaster Rhodora Nuqui told our mail carrier not to deliver mail to our address even though we had no forwarding instructions in place. She and her supervisor, Postmaster Sarabjit Chadha, both admitted this was a mistake. However, they have not acted with any urgency to fixing the problems Rhodora caused. As a result, one important Priority Mail 2-day package was sent to a central processing facility in Santa Ana, while another was returned to the sender. (I have still received no explanation as to why they did two different things with these packages.) Chadha refused to refund me any of the postage until I receive the packages back. Two weeks later, I'm still waiting for my Priority Mail 2-Day package sent on 9/10/15. After being sent to the central facility in Santa Ana, it was sent back to Richmond in Northern California, and then inexplicably sent back to Bell Gardens in Southern California. For other customers struggling with the awful customer service at the Millbrae and Burlingame post offices, here is the chain of command and the relevant contact information. I suggest immediately contacting all of them when an issue arises, as you have to be prepared that they will ignore you and it will be a while before anyone pays attention. Anyone familiar with this post office knows how poor the customer service and demeanor of the staff here. However, this last visit they exceeded an even already low bar which prompted me to write this review. I filled out all the forms to ship documents internationally using priority mail. The sales rep "Nelson" told me that I could save money if I ship using regular mail / envelope and confirmed I'd have tracking. I filled out a new set of forms and envelope from the shelf which he recommended. As I was about to pay, I asked again about tracking and this time they said I wouldn't since it was international. So, I had to go back to priority mail, and fill out all the forms again (which he had thrown away). On top of that they charged me additional for the envelope that he had asked me to fill out. So here I am, filling out forms three times and charged extra for an envelope I didn't need. I asked that they take off the envelope since it was their mistake, but they wouldn't acknowledge they made the wrong recommendation and made me pay for their mistake. Their manager "Diana", as expected doubled down on this in her usual condescending tone. Honestly, looking at these past reviews, the level of incompetence and customer service at this location (1.5/5 stars) is ridiculous. To leave the beautiful cathedral-like building for this shack is a tragedy. There is no room to maneuver, the clerks are visibly unhappy, and when conversationally asked how the move is going, they express unmitigated rage. No polite conversation to be had here. I have had the misfortune of visiting this new location three times, and all three times there has been a line, and only one or two clerks working. All three times were uncomfortable due to the employees' attitudes, lack of space, and general misery. Could this be why the post office is losing business? read more

TRUE STORY: If I could put a negative five star rating I would! This location has to have THE SLOWEST and THE WORST customer service EVER! I left there feeling offended, completely stressed and overwhelmed at how the Manager, Diana treated me today. I have already filed a formal complaint with USPS. Whether or not it will receive any results is only what I can hope for. My purpose was to renew my passport. I've never been to the location and I happened to be in the area 1.5 hours prior to my scheduled appointment. I decided to wait in the regular line to see if there were any openings to see me now rather than later. A gentleman advised that there was a cancellation and Diana would come in the lobby to get me when she was ready. After a 20 minute wait, Diana came into the lobby and called another name. I politely followed her and advised that I was told to wait and I would be next due to a cancellation. She ignored me and proceeded to help the other person. I said "Excuse me, I was told you would help me". She got angry and said who told me that?! That she didn't take walk-ins for a cancellation and basically yelled at the employee who misinformed me. I left without saying a word because I knew I had to return shortly during my actual appt time. I came back at my scheduled time to only be acknowledged 45 minutes after my appt. She finally calls me in. I proceed to her counter as she is yelling at her employee for locking out of his computer. She degrades him and gets even more angry that she has no other staff now and that everything is his fault. The line begins to grow and as she turns to help me, but an older woman gets angry as to why I was being helped next. I turned around to tell her I had a passport appt 45 mins ago! Diana then tells me she will help the older woman as she only has one transaction. Well, she had two transactions not one. 10 mins. later she finally works on my passport application. Proceeds to tell me that the passport picture I took from another location is unacceptable. $15 later, she retakes my photo, however, I was so furious for her attitude and unprofessional manner that my picture turned out HORRIBLE and now I am stuck with this on my darn passport for 15 years! She then takes my original birth certificate and I advise I need a copy. She sarcastically tells me I have to pay $1 for it! I'm even more livid and tell her that she was over one hour late and she was already very rude to me this morning, could she just make a quick copy for me? She said no and that it wasn't her problem that everyone else made her late. She then told me at the end of the appt that if I had done all of this before the expiration date, I could've done this by mail. Her tone was one of the most obnoxious I've ever heard. To represent management of USPS was just so appalling to witness a Manager to yell to her Employees to cut their lunch break short rather than politely walking to the back to speak to her employees was so rude. If USPS does not pay attention to these reviews, they should. Her attitude is a serious problem and a complete deterrent for other customers to go to this location. Don't go here! Unless you want long wait times, unprofessional passport customer service and to witness a degrading manager to her employees, go to another Post Office. Save your time and sanity! read more

Okay, I'm not one to usually complain, check my past reviews! Always good ones. But this location is just ridiculous. First of all, these people need to learn CONSISTENCY. Ugh! My boyfriend and I have a P.O. Box here. Both our names out on it. When either of us get a package the other will pick it up if they see it. The last 6 TIMES my bf has gotten a package, I was able to sign and pick it up for him. But today, I come in, sign the slip, and walk up to the counter where 2 of the ladies are happily chatting, I hold up my slip and say "Hi, I'd like to pick up?" One of the women (the rudest of them all, if you've been here you know which one I'm talking about...) She comes up to the counter, just stares at me and says "Uhhhh..." I'm still holding up the pink slip, it's not confusing. She then grabs to slip from me "Okay, one second." She comes back with the package, and says something so quickly and from a distance that I don't hear her, she's not even looking at me so I don't know if she's actually talking to me. She then gets to the counter and tersely says "ID! Your ID! You don't have it with you?" And I go "Oh! No, I have it." and show her my ID. She see's that I"m obviously not my boyfriend, and says "See, this is for a man, that is not you." I go "It's my boyfriend, we share the P.O. Box." She then tells me that he has to be here or sign for it himself, so I can't pick it up. As she hands back the pink slip I say "But I've picked up packages for him at least 6 times before." But whoops, she's already walking away from me, no answer to be given. I stand there for a few more seconds but she's just gone. Honestly, I don't even care what the rule is. But the fact that EVEN SHE PERSONALLY ONCE let me pick up a package for my boyfriend...AT LEAST TWICE, but then suddenly this time I can't? And she won't even bother to stand around while I ask why? At least give me a bullsh*t answer, don't just walk away from me when I'm talking. I have picked up enough packages from this woman to know that she's not just having a bad day, cause her bad days are EVERYDAY. She's just mean! The other women are at least nice, but in general everyone is very disorganized! Several times I've been expecting a few packages, and they'll leave a key AND a pink slip. The pink slip will just say something like "Too Big". And because I'm scared of missing my package, I'll sign the slip and bring it up, they'll go in back and search for it, only to find that it's the package in the key box that I already have the key for. I don't need a key AND a pink slip! It's confusing! And not to mention the several times I've gotten no slip at all and had to just ask them to search for a package. I'll bring the tracking number so they can see that it is indeed at their facility. One time they told me it must have been lost in the mail because there was no package. But because they're so inconsistent I just came back a couple days later and what do you know? It was just in the wrong area! This location is ridiculous. I don't care about long lines, or no workers, or anything like that, but I do care about consistency. If you can use a different post office, I suggest you do. read more

Aside from unfriendly, rude asian women (chinese/korean/malaysian) staff at the window, inquiries arent welcome also or they cant speak english or cant understand.. Always in a hurry when we, the customers are the ones who painfully wait in that long slow moving line... Either packages not picked up, undelivered or delayed.. Get your acts together, whether you're at Park and now at primrose, still if same system and workers work, this post office will still be the worst in the area...Also the post office that changes their post mail man every month.. read more

This post office is as bad as the reviews show. We paid a lot of money for faster international shipping because we needed the shipment to make it by Christmas. When we tracked the shipment online we found that it didn't leave our city until 6 days after we brought it to this post office. We went there today to ask what might have caused this delay. A USPS employee named Linda was visibly and verbally upset while helping a customer with a lot of boxes. Then it came our turn and when my wife told her politely what happened with our package she asked loudly "What do you want me to do about it?" Having rude personnel like this helps explain why this is the worst rated post office in the entire Bay Area. TLDR: No mail service for almost 2 months now (in addition to no mail service for 38 days starting October 2016). Longer version: This is an update to my previous review of 11/02/16. Since then, I left town for family business, including Thanksgiving, and had my mail forwarded. Forwarding was supposed to start 11/23/16. I verified that forwarding multiple times with the USPS. Since then, I've gotten almost no mail, either in my Burlingame mailbox or at my forwarded address. Today is 01/12/17. I'm in Burlingame, trying to find out what happened to my mail. Talked to Leanna at 1-800-ASK-USPS, and have been advised that my forwarding order has been "purged." No indication of what happened to my mail since that time. No junk mail, no standard first class mail, no bills, no bank statements, no Christmas cards. I know that mail has been sent to me, and I know that it has not been delivered. In all that time,I got only two postcard-sized pieces of mail delivered to my home in Burlingame. Nothing else was delivered, either in Burlingame or at my forwarded address. The USPS has not yet given me an answer as to what is going on, and I don't have high hopes that I will ever find out. Leanna gave me new contact info for raising this issue with the USPO, which I will share here in case someone else has problems with the post office and is unable (as I had been) to get this contact information. The new contact to share is: USPS Office of the Vice President Consumer and Industrial Affairs 475 L'Enfant Plaza SW RM 4115 Washington DC 20260-2200 Perhaps the USPS in Washington DC will be able to help. 1/13/17 Called the USPS, and eventually got through to someone who told me that part of the problem was that my home town had been listed as "Burlingame, MASSACHUSETTS" in the USPS computer system. My Google search for "Burlingame, Massachusetts" indicates there is no such place, so I'm not at all sure how that could be possible. Still no news as to what happened to my mail, and no particular commitment, other than 'give me some time to work on it,' to restarting mail service. BTW, during this whole fiasco, I talked about this mail situation to a former Cuban boat person now living in Miami. I therefore now have it on good authority that the mail service in Communist Cuba (!) was never this bad. 01/17/17: 55 days without mail so far. Got word today that a big container of old mail from the USPS showed up today at my forwarded address (not in Burlingame). I had been asking the USPS to deliver my mail to Burlingame, but at least they delivered it somewhere. Now I'm not sure how to get the mail to Burlingame. Based on what's happened so far, I don't believe it's a good idea to use USPS to send the mail to Burlingame. I suppose I'll have to have it FedExed or UPSed. 01/20/17 Got two pieces of junk mail today! I went to the El Granada Post Office 2 weeks ago for a passport appointment and forgot to bring a form of ID for my daughter. So I made another appointment closer to home in Burlingame for this afternoon. All I have to say is drive a little further to have amazing customer service and if you want your appointment to start on time. tl/dr: I had a 2:45 appointment today for a passport for my daughter. I arrived early and waited in line. The post office manager (wearing a red vest) asked what i was doing there so I said I had a passport appointment. She ushered me off line and said wait outside. Now outside is the corridor before you enter the line and the front door was opened. Another thing is that it was a cold day and I didnt understand why my child and I had to wait outside. Then she said, I don't have an appointment for you and walked away pointing at another group saying that they were last but the appointment was 2:30 and said maybe I was late, which I wasn't. I followed her as she went into the office. I said to her that I have a confirmation. She then said, just wait. I waited 10 mins then poked my head back in to tell her that she can see my confirmation and to ask if I should wait in line.. But before I can speak my 2nd word, she rudely said "I said wait!" Wow! I am a professional and to speak to your customer that way, in front of my 8 year old daughter is just horrible and rude. After another 10 mins, she told me to wait outside again and ushered us to the cold. Mind you, the post office was not busy. I could have just waited inside. There was plenty of room and warmer. Finally, Susanna at the desk called for us and we were able to get our passport done. Susanna was very nice and complete opposite to this person. This post office manager didn't even acknowledge that "hey, customer. You were right and had an appointment. Sorry for our oversight.". That was obviously beneath her. But Susanna had everything for us and got the job done. While working on our application, another person also came in for her passport renewal. The same post office manager basically berated her in front of the rest of the customers on line. The lady came in with her application and papers and the post office manager was yelling saying YOU NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING ORGANIZED AND SEALED IN AN ENVELOPE READY TO GO. So the lady started to do that but needed to staple her picture to the application. She walked up to the counter and the said post office person again yelled at her : YOU CANNOT JUST WALK IN HERE AND CUT THE LINES. THERE IS A LINE YOU KNOW. The lady simply said, I'm just asking to borrow a stapler. I cannot believe the level of customer service here. First to blame me for not having an appointment and shutting me down, and then to accuse someone of cutting the lines. She was horribly rude to not just us but everyone walking in the door. I asked her for her name.. she ignored me. Every post office worker wears a badge. She had hers but was hidden and just didn't care. If I wasn't in dire need to get a passport for my child today, I would have walked out immediately. I will never step foot back to the Burlingame post office. If I need to go to another post office, I will. I will even drive an extra 25 minutes to El Granada again to a post office where folks there are courteous and just simply nice. read more

I was expecting to be there longer. I even had time to grab Philz couple doors down. The only thing that ruins it a bit is the parking. This place is awful, I only ever drop off boxes with labels, and I just need to bring them to the Dropbox. Today, like several other times, the dropbox was locked. I did not want to line up because the service is slow and the line is long, so I approached a woman with glasses and braids, who was not helping anyone but working at a station. I said "excuse me" and I was just going to ask a question, but she brushes me off without eye contact and kept ignoring me and said she was too focused to even answer a question. I stood and waited and after a minute she said I need to go wait in line because she was not even going to answer a single question I have. This is awful service, if you cannot even give me the chance to show that I am just trying inquire about why one of your basic services is unavailable. Also, if you cannot multi task (she was not engaged in physical activity or any sort or conversation with another employee, then maybe you should not be customer facing. Being unapologetic, awful at communication, and expecting customers to just accept that you don't care today - is annoying. Do not come here if you want actual service, just go to your next nearest location. I can handle slow service, weird service, and even confusing service - but no service is ridiculous. The woman ahead of me waited in line to get change because of course she was unable to disturb the woman I spoke to, and she ended up being denied by all three workers. She also brought something to mail, so it's not like she wasn't there for post office business. They should get negative starts. I head that this post office is notorious for their service. I also had my first contact with them last year. I regretted that I should've listened those complaints. After this long, I need to do something for my passport so I thought I'll give it another try. The worst experience ever!! She, the person with red vest, asked me to wait outside of the line when it was my turn, EVEN I had an appointment online already and arrived exactly 10mins earlier as they described online in case I'll be late. When I second time went back to line again, it's already after an hour. She looked at me and went near the door to try to find another customer. She said he was before me and he went outside but she doesn't know what he was out for. Ok, I didn't say a word but still put my papers on her counter. She went through them with a very angry face and voice. She asked me to give her ID and another certificate. I suddenly realized I left them in my car and told her I will be back in 3 mins and they are in my car now. I left while she was mumbling something about me and I even didn't have to time to pay attention. I went back with my documents and saw there were 6 people already stand in line. I thought ok, I'll just re stand in line again. This was the third time lining up for this matter). So finally when it was me again, she said you can't just go and grab your documents then come back! You need to make an appointment again! Remember how she left the spot for the previous customer earlier? She left an open appointment for him when she even didn't know where that customer was at!!! Oh boy, this is totally nonsense. I even didn't want to describe the experience with her and this post office anymore. Only feeling I have now is that it's disgusting. This particular post office should change their employees. If they don't like working there, they don't need to occupy the seat. No one forces them to do so. This is the worst USPS I have ever been! Some of the workers are rude, liar and racist! I have on idea how they got the jobs here to represent USPS. I moved to Burlingame downtown about one year ago. Today I just tried to use its service for the first time. I tried to mail some gifts to my parents at China. I printed the priority shipping labels online and all I need is to buy some extra insurance at the store since by default you can only get $200 worth insurance online. When I first got there, a woman told me that anything mailed to China has to be less than 100 rmb (yuan) ~ $15. My gifts are apparently way more than $15 so I can't mail it. First, this is ridiculous and there is never this kind of rule. I used to mail gifts back to home from time to time and I never heard this kind of rule anywhere else. Maybe anyone with a brain can tell how untrustworthy this woman is. Okay then I waited there for another woman to help me. I asked her that I would like to mail a package with a prepaid shipping label. I asked her about this 100 yuan rule. She said it's not true and I can mail it since I have already paid the full amount online. However, when I told her that I included a pre-own handbag and watch in the package. She started to say something like China is not accepting used clothes so my package will be rejected at the custom. This is another rumor. China recently started refusing import of Preown cloth and waste from US since lots of people doing that business and sell US waste for profit without verified resources. Does it has anything to do with me sending my watch (sitting in the closet for years) to my mom for her to use since her watch got lost recently! Okay, she said a bunch of things like my package will get sent back later but still let me ship it if I want. Then I told her that I would like to buy extra insurance since I can't do it online when I printed the shipping label. She then said they could do it and I will have to pay at the store for the full amount if I want to get extra insurance. After I told her that it's not true, she then started to operate it for me. Okay it looks like it's totally doable but she just did not want to do it for me. Then she asked how much more insurance I would like to buy, I told her for $500 value. She then said that is more than the value shown on the shipping label so that she can't do it. Then I told her okay, I will only get insurance for consistent value shown on the shipping label. She then said I can't mail it anymore because the actual value for the package is more the value on the shipping label and I have to repay to ship it. Hey, these gifts are not merchandises. They are my own personal belongings so all the values are only estimated. Finally, I did not want to deal with them anymore so I decide to ship the package else where. I was there for 30 mins and carried a heavy box. Now I have to drive somewhere else to a different USPS location to ship it. I don't know where this USPS store found these racist people to work here. Both women are Chinese looking and speaking Cantonese. However, somehow they seem to be hateful about China and Chinese. I tried to speak Mandarin with them, it seems that she understood what I said but she choose to ignore. Maybe because I did not pay in the store for the shipping? Maybe because I speak Mandarin? I have lived and worked in the US for over 10 years since Graduate School so I do speak fluent English. Therefore, this is definitely not a communication issue. Holy moly, just trying to ship something back home to myself while on vacation. This place is further proof that postal employees can never be fired, no matter how difficult it is to understand them, how rude they are, or how uninformed. When I'm not on vacation, I sell on eBay, so I have plenty of dealings with my post office back home, and have learned a lot through the years about the different classes of mail, tracking, tracing, and how much things should cost. These people seriously made me believe that if you hired a couple of third graders and gave them a days training, they could run this place better. Asked for a flat rate box, no answer. Searched everywhere for one and asked again. The lady was looking right at me and just turned away. With no time to find a REAL post office that still practices customer service, I decided to just pack the item and take it with me. When I got back home I felt like kissing my carrier who always makes a second trip around to my house if I haven't put my daily packages out yet and tells me that my using the post office is appreciated. He also took care of everything when my father passed away and I was away from home for 7 weeks. All my mail was held for as long as I needed and was all there when I finally got back home. Now how hard is that? Why can't they all be that way? Because people complain here instead of facebook and the national post office site, probably. The employees of this post office need to learn that their job is to serve customers. In fact, they see their goals as getting through the day, doing as little as possible, following the rules to the letter in order to annoy customers, and generally doing everything to discourage people from coming back. I think the technical phrase is passive-aggressive. They lock the door at a minute before closing, offering no flexibility or accommodation to people. One always feels that it is a battle between their own needs and the common sense ordinary requests from people needing postal services. If this branch were part of a profit-making corporation, it would be closed. read more

I feel sad when I see the abuse employees take from self-entitled customers who seem to believe this is a retail outlet rather than a government agency. Certain Burlingame and Hillsborough residents please stop off loading your stress and anger onto the employees here. Your behavior is extremely violent and disturbing for me to witness. Slow down and take a deep breath. Perhaps if you residents voted differently and paid your fair share of taxes there would be more resources for our government agencies to serve you in the manner that you are accustomed to demanding. Burlingame postal employees are doing a wonderful job with the resources that they are provides with to do that job. The wait time at the most crowded hour is never more than 7 minutes. Among the worst of the worst. They can have a line a mile long and never have anyone come out and help. I had a forwarding issue - my prescription drugs sent to the wrong location - and was given a phone number and nothing else. Of course, the number I called just keeps ringing and ringing. Subpar service. Terrible location now that they moved to Primrose Road. Good luck getting parking. A real attitude from the workers. read more

Really nice staff run this place. Very helpful and intuitive. They always do their best to inform me of the best options in regards to stamps, shipping methods, etc. Also, they have an after hours lobby where you can weigh and ship small to medium sized packages. I recommend. read more

One of the worst service experiences ever. My experience was on line with a Burlingame USPS office representative and carrier but is consistent with many of the reviews listed. Had a very important package sent from outside the country to our home but never was able to receive it due to incompetent staff. Unfortunately we were not home for the first attempted delivery yet completed the redelivery notice and left on mailbox for the post office to redeliver on a specified date. I never received the package back nor had I received another notice from them. I went back on line to request yet ANOTHER redelivery and this one never made it back to my house either. When I followed up again on line again, I finally received a call from someone from USPS who indicated that the package had been sent back to the sender outside the country and they would need to pay for another shipment. When I indicated all of the steps I had taken, they just restated that they followed their procedures and couldn't not help us any further. These are unacceptable business practices and I will try to avoid USPS and this Burlingame location at all costs! read more

Negative star!!! This office messed up with my holding mail half a year ago, and messed up my package delivery this time. Don't know how many times they can do things wrong. The staff was quite rude, unprofessional, and know nothing. Both times when I came to pick up my holding mail, or holding package, they couldn't find it, although the pick up location was clearly stated in the notice. They just gave me a number to call which I called in front of them, but it was just ringing without any response. They refused to help me contact other post office or whatever facility they mentioned the package could be. I cannot believe there was absolutely no tracking of the package in their office. Absolutely no customer service, such a waste of time for me. My advice is don't go there, phone call would be a better way. If you are thinking phone call keep you waiting, going there would be an additional waste of your time.. Because the only thing they do is giving you the same phone number to call again. Avoid this location as much as you can!! read more

A word to anyone who has their mail temporarily held and goes to pick up their mail and is told that it's all there and it doesn't look like it's all there. It's usually in separate "daily" bundles. So if it doesn't look right, it probably isn't. INSIST they look again. I knew I was expecting a certain letter and after sorting through the mail, it was not there. Went back and spoke with at least two workers. They couldn't find anything. Got the manager of the Rollins Rd. facility involved and he personally came over and looked. Got a call a day later that they had found "more mail" sitting in the wrong place. Yes indeed, the letter was in that bundle of mail. Wonder when they would have found it if I didn't know about the letter...This happened a while back in the old facility so perhaps the fact that it is a much smaller space, though not ideal for those of us on the other side of the counter, may mean less "lost" mail because there is less space for it to get lost in.
