I called a few minutes ago and end up getting hanged up by the of the employees, apparently I was "not giving enough info" for him to understand what I am requesting for help. CJ!!!! what a great guy I called at 7:45 this morning about a missing package and by 755. I had a package at my front door. I called him calmly. Explain the situation gave him the tracking number. I had been left a parcel post locker key there was nothing in the locker and within 10 minutes he'd come over look through the parcel lockers found my package didn't even delivered it to my front door now that's Customer Service. The service is always professional and the employees are always upbeat. They've helped me with all my questions. The customers are very friendly and considerate as well. Even when theres a line and they are busy, the customer service is on point. MOST of the counter staff are friendly, pleasant, and courteous (especially Ryan who has since left). But the worst is a delivery/counter person who felt it her prerogative to rip the phone out of counter staffs' hands to interrupt and shriek at me for 5 solid minutes. I couldn't get a word in edgewise as she screamed at the top of her lungs in an uninterrupted tirade. It was undeserved, unprofessional, abusive, and rude. Her 'civil' servant credentials should be revoked in short order followed by treatment for mental health issues. The Hispanic manager who always answers the phone is such a jerk! He is rude, unhelpful and frankly, useless. He has a bad attitude, is unfriendly and makes it very clear that he doesn't feel like helping you. I'm assuming he was a DEI hire. They certainly didn't strive for the best of the best with him. Postal employee knocked on my door this noon and gave me my wallet that I had lost on Monday. Someone had dropped it into the mail bin at the main PO in Carp just today. She had to do some research to find my address and returned it to me during her lunch hour. I am so grateful. Had cancelled most everything and reordered already, but there were a few less replaceable items still there. Thanks so much for the extra, extra service. Kudos to the service that is well above and beyond. My Santa Barbara son likes to come to Carp to mail packages. He said it's so much more friendly and helpful than he finds in SB. read more

I think the two women that work there get a kick out of being an assholes. Went in for a money order and told them I had never sent one before. Let's just say the whole interaction was just rude on their part. When I was asked to pay I was doing it with my credit card and the lady snatched it out my hand and started sliding it because I had inserted the chip. Then she tells me I have to do it with a debit card not credit. I had a debit card but seriously was over her and said I didn't And would send the money through PayPal. read more

I will drive 15 miles out of my way to avoid having to go into this branch of the USPS. It's really THAT bad. There is one woman (straight shoulder length hair, thin, late 50s) who works here who is just The Worst (TM) and will go out of her way to be nasty, snide and almost unbelievably rude to customers. If you've not experienced it, you can't even fathom how rude she is - and for literally no reason whatsoever. I almost want to recommend people go to check it out like she's doing performance art or something, because it's seriously that bizarre. It would be entertaining if you didn't have to stand in line and be treated like dirt for no good reason. Once, I needed an overseas customs form and they didn't have any in the form bins (by the way, they hardly ever have the forms or receipts stocked in their little slots, so good luck to you if you need one.) I had my package perfectly addressed, just needed that form and waited about 10 minutes in line. When I got up to this lady and asked for the form, she not only chastised ME for not filling in the form first, she then handed me the forms and nearly shouted, "Here! Why don't you just put them OVER THERE? It's two steps away from you. I'm working." Everyone else in line laughed, uncomfortably. And like an idiot, I did it!! At least she told me to come back to her when I was done.... But, oh, nay nay! After restocking for the USPS, I had to awkwardly re-step into the line with her once I was done filling out the form and instead of explaining this to the person in line, she APOLOGIZED TO THEM with a huge, fake smile and then ROLLED HER EYES. Recap: I waited in line, was treated rudely, asked to restock USPS forms by a USPS employee and then treated as if I was a line-jumper and apology was made on my behalf for being a rude jerk and not standing in line for another 10 minutes. read more

I know everyone says if they could give zero stars, they would, but this truly is a place deserving of the lowest possible rating. I don't know who the main lady who works here is, but she is so incompetent and rude, I find it hard to even talk to her without getting angry. I have had many awful encounters (pretty much every time I go in here there is some sort of discrepancy or issue that could be calmly explained) but the most recent thing that comes to mind and prompts me for this review is something so stupid that happened. I bought a package to mail that was in a reused box and had a priority sticker on it. I tell her I want to ship it the cheapest way possible. She shoved the box back at me and said to cover the sticker because I couldn't ship first class as it was priority (this was a priority STICKER..not a box)..uhh ok. Fine. Her usual disinterest in actually helping a customer, business as usual (apparently she already knew first class was the cheapest method for my package, wow!!). My real issue with this situation happened when I went to the Santa Barbara post office. *****I SAID THE SAME THING TO THE GUY WORKING THERE****** he said OK, let me weigh that for you. TURNS OUT...the box was too heavy to send first class anyway, so my only option was sending it priority anyway!!! WOW. Was that so hard? This is just an example of the type of nonsense that is acceptable at the Carpinteria post office...NO common sense, NO regard for the customers, just down right dumb dumb antics on the daily. I should say, in general it's just a regular post office with bad parking and long lines as usual, but that one woman who works there is who makes it this one so awful. Drive to Ventura or Santa Barbara. Or go across the street to the UPS store. Just don't go here unless you want to experience feelings of hate you never knew could be possible before. read more

I just left this post office & I will not return. Clerk # 11 was rude & condescending all at once. I asked what Christmas stamps were available to purchase. She rudely said " the ones that are on display. I saw them, but sometimes they have some that are not on display. After I paid, she put my receipt down with the stamps underneath. I picked up the receipt but not the stamps. I asked for my stamps. She rudely pointed to them and said " they are right there" then with a fake smile wished me a merry Christmas. How about you hand a customer the stamps? Maybe that is too much to ask. UPS store or markets that sell stamps will get my business. read more

the customer service here is terrible and even though there will be a line of 10-15 people, these employees seem to take their sweet time, move slowly, and take breaks more than they help customers. There is one woman that works there that is extremely rude and unhelpful, talks down to you like you are incompetent. Today we had to go to the post office to get a passport for our son. We researched what time to arrive and what to bring ahead of time since the two women that work at our local office at the customer service window tend to be surly. Well they were both in rare form this morning getting into verbal altercations with patrons and their OWN supervisor over the hours in which they would take passport applications among other things. One of them told us it was too late to help us and another family that had waited in line eventhough their own supervisor standing there said it was not! The only reason I am not giving one star is because the supervisor was great, got his workers in line, and said they could help us. My husband has had issues with the other woman working on occasion when she incorrectly informed him on how to mail something and then became irrate with him when he prepared the package the wrong way. Now I know why the US postal service is having such issues if these two workers are indicative of the type of employee they hire. These two women should be fired! I am sure there are hundreds of other Carpinterians that would love the job and would be much better suited to a customer service position! read more

I agree with all the comments about the rudeness of counter clerks. I've witnessed awful, unprofessional conduct for 5 years. I've requested package pickup many, many times over the years and they actually make the scheduled pickup about 10-20% of the time. On the rare occasion that I've been able to get the manager on the phone, he's been very professional and apologetic, and has gotten someone out to do the pickup after hours. Now that the phone system has changed, all I get is one of the women who tells me there's nothing she can do, that she has no idea if the carrier is going to come or not. Who runs a business like this? A monopoly, of course. read more

Love coming here! The people that work there make it special with their local feel and attention to detail- even remembering family details and checking in. Very sweet. Also had an experience last night I came close to closing, which is already the worst if you're an employee- and had to stay so long with a difficult shipment and packaging that the employee graciously helped and advised and just made it generally so easy and less stressful. Worst post office I've ever been to. If I could give 0 stars, I would!!! Diana Hamilton (badge #9580) is so incompetent. She ruined my envelope that I had to send to the government for healthcare doctor's panel. She charged something without confirming with me first and then decides to take it back, taking the sticker off my envelope and ruining it. So annoyed right now!!! While my fortunately few experiences at this post office through the years generally mirror many of the poor reviews already posted, my beef this day is with our mail carrier from this location. We are a business in Carpinteria and for some reason our carrier thinks it is ok to rudely throw or drop packages / boxes he brings inside onto the floor or window shelf next to the door without any care or regard for what might be in them. It's as if he's trying to make some kind of statement. He used to just open our door and throw stuff in onto the floor without even coming inside. I asked him to please stop doing that and to please set the items on the large window shelf or to place them on the ground right next to the door. So now he comes in and throws or drops them on the window shelf or floor. I don't know what this guy's problem is, but how hard is it to exercise a small measure of customer service and care and just set things down and leave, thank you very much? I'd complain to the branch or USPS in general but that would be like complaining to the devil about demons. This USPS branch just sucks big time all the way around. read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! The woman I was speaking with today at this horrible post office told me how God awful my handwriting was (in her words!) which was hilarious because I have a very nice penmanship! She then said and I quote her "your handwriting is un-American!" I believe she said these crazy things to me so she wouldn't look stupid for not doing what she was supposed to do two days ago ! She blamed it on my hand writing that she couldn't read my address which was horse manure since it was clear to everyone there what it said . Beware of the long thick red headed lady with green eyes (the one with shorter hair is a sweet lady)..the other one will flex her USPS power and treat you like a child even if you are a premier customer. Be ready to get verbally assaulted or threatened if you don't label correctly or ship in the same date your label is posted for. I heard her threaten a customer today stating she was going to have USPS watch their postal meter! She sounds like a high school hall monitor but not as intelligent..and she will insult you with a bitter smile. I give this one star if I could give none I would ..for the horrible treatment by the{ brown haired shoulder length } woman who has the worst abusive cruel attitude ..I have been in Carp 50yrs it has always been a center of cordiality .People meet and chat . Not any longer this woman is a blight on Carpinteria ..This s not the first time she has been rude and abusive to me. This last time was the last. I did not know there is now a Global forever stamp and was waiting for her to look at the mail for varying amounts as is usually done. as I stood there she yelled .HOW MANY ? I did not understand why she was asking ME .she then yelled $6. 90 when I fumbled with my card she grabbed it from my hand ...I was so surprised I was being abused in this fashion ..I am a pretty tough woman used to dealing with difficult people and recognize frank abuse when I experience it in any situation. I did speak with the Post Master . he is well aware of the situation with this person ..He said he would "Talk to her " she needs firing ...enough is enough with this person .
