It is hit-or-miss with this branch (Downtown Colorado Springs). I walked in mid-week recently and only one employee was at the counter while 13 customers were in line. There were other employees there, but they would walk by and go somewhere else. It was maddening! There were people standing in line who just had to drop a package off because the self-help bin was full (and therefore locked). Today, December 31, I walked in at 12:33 p.m. and the counter was completely closed (the steel curtain was down). No signage on the doors to indicate the branch would be closed today. Luckily the main door was open, and I could use the self-serve stand to mail my pre-paid business packages. BUT, if the self-serve bin had been full (and, as a result, locked), I would not have been able to drop off the packages I needed to send out today. Today is not a holiday and the hours posted online are as follows: "Tuesday, December 31 (New Year's Eve) Local Post Office locations will be open." I would use the Rockrimmon or Briargate branches and avoid this one. Briargate is exceptional. read more

The dog women in the front are RUDE , they don't answer questions , they scurry you off the phone without giving proper direction. She seems like she hates her job. This is a PROFESSIONAL establishment where hundreds of people come in daily. You'd think he'd attitude would be adjusted.. put her in the back to either not talk to customers or reevaluate her position. No need to be stank. read more

We were visiting from Georgia and staying at an Airbnb. My daughter sent a Christmas box to our address on Custer Ave. Colorado Springs 80903. I witnessed the mail carrier just throwing the package that said fragile on the ground. I guess we will find out if anything is broken when the gifts are opened on Christmas. Went to apply for my passport. Art was extremely helpful and organized. I left there understanding the process, knowing what to expect when, how to track my passport, and how to look up the embassies in the countries I will be visiting before I arrive. Honestly, not that bad of an experience. Both before COVID-19 and during COVID-19, I've had to go take care of some basic mailing business, and the people that I worked with behind the counter were pleasant and quick. They were very helpful with me not knowing my options, and even though there was a decent line of people, they were great. Even when I was in line, it wasn't that long of a wait. I've had much much worse experiences. And frankly, when you walk in and see that 10-15 person line and have to wait 20-30 min just to see the person behind the counter, at least you have someone nice to work with that made that whole waiting experience inconsequential. I'd recommend this USPS location for sure. read more

Went in for a passport appointment and was treated like trash by the male worker in at the time. Once he identified me as the one who set the appointment, and with my husband standing right there, proceeded to change his tone of voice and talk down to me like I was a two-year-old who didn't understand that 1+1=2. Needless to say, I did not appreciate his tone and when I coldly told him we understood what we needed to do, he rolled his eyes and raised his tone of voice, mimicking and mocking what I said. This man needs to be fired. We ended up just walking out and will be going to a different location for our passport needs. read more

For passport services, I recommend going to another location. I arrived at 11:25 for my 11:45 appointment (as per their instructions to arrive 15 minutes early). You have to pay for parking. The gentlemen doing passports, although he may be nice, he talks too much (not passport related) thereby cutting down on his efficiency and causing appointments to back up. My appointment finally began at 12:15 (by another gentlemen who was much faster). Again, I recommend going to another location for your passport needs. read more

Today 4/19/2022 I went in our Colorado Springs downtown 201 E Pikes Peak Ave. location to track my daily mail that I didn't get but I received a daily digest email with pictures of mail but I Only received junk mail so I went to the post office downtown to track the missing piece of mail which was some mail from State Farm Claims. I spoke with the post office Supervisor name Patricia and explained that I was missing some mail that I seen on my email daily digest picture and she told me that sometimes all the mail that you get an email notice for don't expect it to come that same day, so I told her I don't feel confident about the digest service an that I did receive All the other pieces that was on the email picture except my State Farm Claim mail and then Patricia asked me do I have a problem with the mail carrier and I told her No and I was referring to your digest system and while I was explaining to her, what's the use of getting an email picture conformation if all the mail don't come and then the phone rang then Patricia rudely picked up the phone as I was talking interrupting me then Patricia Started Laughing out loud Rudely and Nasty in my face. I waited patiently until she got off the phone then I asked her for a grievance so then she walked in the back and never came back out while leaving me by myself. Patricia had a nasty attitude and she was very short with me. Patricia has poor communication skills plus she's very unprofessional. Patricia was incompetent, unprofessional, and acted with No integrity. This situation will Not be ignored and I'll exhaust every administrative remedy until I get relief. Thank you. After driving all the way there I was told they don't do walk ins and called a liar when I explained that someone told me to come in. Several years of great service. Always busy which I imagine can be overwhelming and stressful at times. I just noticed all these bad reviews with most ppl having one bad experience or can't use proper judgement. If you have a complaint or just need to be heard, email the manager like an adult. A (mostly) true story. Once upon a time, in an old stone post office downtown, a Yelper appeared. She had in hand a few small items within an Avengers gift bag for a child's upcoming birthday--a cumbersome package, requiring an odd-sized box. This Yelper had always bought her boxes and/or envelopes at this post office before, because the Yelper is a disorganized, unprepared twit on the best of days. She asked one of the two Postal Clerks in the currently empty lobby if there was a box large enough to accomodate her parcel; with a nod of her chin, Clerk #1 directed her to "Priority Mail Box #C" and said it was the largest box they had. The Yelper looked skeptical and expressed doubt, and this made Clerk #1 exchange knowing glances with Clerk #2, a look that clearly said: "We have a live one here." It was a look that distinguishes the hapless civilian from those who have graduated from the hallowed halls of U.S.P.S. Regulation Priority Mail Box Categorization and Organization 202. "That's all we have," Clerk #1 said, returning to looking at her hands. After finding out that Priority Mail Box #C did work (didn't SHE feel stupid now), the Yelper dutifully assembled and addressed it, and approached Clerk #2 -- Clerk #1 now being busy coquettishely running her fingers through her long straight hair as Burly Male Customer tells her how she is the Bestest Postal Clerk Ev-Errrrr. "I know," she purred. "Come Again," she called after him hopefully, adjusting her regulation blue collar. "Are you all ready?" Clerk #2 boomed at Yelper. "Yes," she said. Suspiciously, he took Priority Mail Box #C from her. Shock registered in his eyes. "Oh, no you're NOT!" he cried, aghast. "We want you TAPED before you come up here!" he scolded, dramatically taking hold of the box flaps and fanning the air with them. "If you want US to tape them, you'll have to PAY for it--unless you want to ship it Priority Mail!" he said to the Yelper's already retreating back. They had always taped Yelper's boxes for her in the past--but never mind, she told herself as she headed to a tape dispenser. Which turned out to contain the thinnest, stickest tape known to man, in dispensers with the shortest, bluntest teeth there are. So, after 15 wads of crumpled tape now sticking to the walls and floor of the lobby, she returned to the counter, this time to be assisted by Clerk #1, who wore on her face the look of the Cheshire Cat and was almost giddy to inform the Yelper that, because of Priority Mail Box #C's particular dimensions, the cheapest they could mail her package for would be $31.55. "Are you serious? the Yelper said. "Uh-huh," Clerk #1 said, momentarily straying from U.S.P.S. Regulation 3695, which expressly forbids any deviance from the government approved response of "Yes" or "No." With a Vanna White flourish of her hand indicating the credit card reader, she demanded, "Swipe your card here." "You know what?" the Yelper said, in a loud voice. Everyone in the building stopped talking. The Yelper climbed up onto the counter. Clerk #1 leapt back, her hands on her heart. Yelper continued: "We here in America are sick and tired of this [unprintable words] and we're not going to take it anymore!! Am I right, people? $31.55 to mail a little boy his birthday presents?!" The people in line looked at each other. An elderly woman with bottlecap glasses said tentatively, "That ain't right!" A shuffling man who appeared to have some sort of Parkinson's yelled, "NO! WE AREN'T GONNA TAKE IT!" Soon, cries of "YEAH!" filled the air. The clerks were looking nervous. "LET'S GET 'EM!" the Yelper cried. The crowd surged forward. Clerk #1 screamed and fainted. Okay. The last two paragraphs didn't happen. Only in the Yelper's mind as she stood there looking at the $31.55 staring back at her and the smug smile on Clerk #1's face as she strategically hid the brick she had placed on the postage scale on which the package still sat (okay maybe there was no brick...but something was fishy). "You know what?" the Yelper did say. The smile faded from Clerk #1's face. "Just charge me for the box. DON'T mail it." The Clerk frowned. She punched buttons on her U.S.P.S. Illegal Upcharge Machine. With the exacting patience of a surgeon, she scraped off the golden Willy Wonka $31.55 postage sticker from the $3.49 U.S. Priority Mail Box #C, then again showed the Yelper where to swipe her card--then demanded to see the Yelper's ID. AND credit card, which she studied, tongue out, cards upside down, sideways, fanned out, together, and reshuffled, before returning both to the Yelper. "Have a Nice Day," she cried, per U.S.P.S. Regulation No. 5497, though perhaps with a tiny bit more snark than is allowed, per Subsection 1)(a)(iiii)(v). The Yelper drove off into the sunset, into the colors of FedEx, where she paid $13.41 to mail her package--in the U.S. Priority Mail Box #C. read more

I sent a time sensitive document to the Sheriff's Office. The envelope is pre printed from the Sheriff's Office. I mailed this letter on May 23. I get it back in my mail today with 2 different yellow label stickers that say "Return to Sender - Not Deliverable as Addressed - Unable to Forward". Really, people???? This is the address of the Sheriff Office; 27 E. Vermijo, so I'm not sure how stupid you are that you can't figure out what building they are. This not being delivered has now cost me almost a month of valuable time. Not sure what kind of people you hire to deliver the mail, but the people involved in this are clearly idiots. read more

I shipped out a Flat Rate Package with postage paid to be delivered by this Post Office. They are currently holding the package requesting another $7.98 in postage due stating it should have been mailed in a box ( which in itself is interesting because that would be more than the required postage on a medium flat rate box considering there's already postage paid on the package). In addition, when tracking the package, it states that the reason the package is being held is because there is no secure delivery location- which is very different than - we're holding your package because we want more money. Postal regulations state the package may contain up to 70 lbs- this package is about 3, that it must close with the tabs- it does, and it may be reinforced with tape to secure the seams- it was , one piece on each corner ( so it doesn't get destroyed in some mechanical device while sorting)- as long as the sides have not been opened or enlarged, which they were not. Why not simply call the Post Office to try to get things cleared up you ask? Because the phone has been eternally busy for the past 6 days- if I were one to jump to conclusions I might assume it was because they have taken it off the hook, to avoid phone calls from irate customers that they themselves have created. In summation, I would not recommend this Post Office. read more

We handled our passport applications through this post office, and the service was outstanding. In the past, we've encountered USPS employees who had only passing understanding of passport apps, but the person helping us at the downtown COS location knew all the ins and outs, and carefully made sure our young daughter's application was in order. Mail-related services here have always been efficient and friendly. This location tends to have a long line at peak times. Parking is on the street, at meters, but that goes along with a downtown location. read more

I applied for a new passport here. I was worried about a long wait based on the previous reviews. My experience was excellent. Since I had my own photos my wait to be seen was six minutes. Kudos to Louis!!! He made the process simple and pleasurable. I paid for an hour of parking and had 30 minutes left on the meter when it was all said and done. read more

If I didn't leave so close to the dreadful North End Station, I'd always go here. Yeah the clerks are a bit odd but I've never had too much of a wait and they know what they're doing. It does get a bit annoying when there is a huge line, two windows open and one of them is struggling with passport crap instead of actual mail services. read more

I'm posting this here because I can't find a way to go through the USPS site to file a compliment. Anthony is my mail carrier and he is awesome. Always polite and courteous, today he went above and beyond. There are vagrants in the park across from my house...today he left a note for one package and left the other at the door. THEN he made a special trip back to make sure I got the package, since he was concerned about the people watching him across the street. Since I was home, he then made a special trip to deliver my other package, to save me a trip to the post office. What a great guy. I'm lucky to have him as my carrier, and so is USPS. Also, the times I have had to go in for something, the people working the desk have been very nice and as efficient as possible. read more

I went in to get my passport renewed. Although I waited in line for a bit (as expected), the professionalism and kindness of the staff blew me away. They made eye contact, smiled, affirmed business with a handshake. I went in so confused, and they were so patient and kind and made me smile and feel at ease. Worst ever, cannot find my supposedly delivered package, signed for by a USPS employee on 01/10/18, but I never received a notice or signed for the package myself or received the package!!! $1,200 + in losses now, and needed the equipment for professional recording. No one wants to help or accept responsibility for any of this, all I get is excuses from the manager and head supervisor at - USPS - 201 E Pikes Peak Ave., 80901. My package has been lost and /or stolen and nothing is being done about it!!! Been told 3-4 times it would be taken care of and I would receive contact as to the status, I have never been contacted by anyone at the post office even after providing my phone # multiple times. I do not trust the post office and will do my future business elsewhere. Today 12/10/2019 around 6:20pm I went to my mailbox and I noticed a piece of mail on the ground so I picked it up and I noticed my husband's name on the envelope so by then I realized this was an envelope I put in my mailbox this morning addressed to the Milwaukee Child Support. Luckily I caught it because it was a child support payment with a sensitive timeline. The mail carrier on this route for zip code 80903 mailbox on Boulder and Cascade Ave emptied the outgoing mail from the mailbox and left my mail I sent out this morning on the ground. I filed a complaint against this same carrier last month because she was placing my packages in the wrong place. I even attempted to inform her where to place my mail and she told me in a very nasty and rude tone that she was on break trying to smoke a cigarette. I was both appalled and disgusted that she would feel so entitled and privileged. I can not help but to believe this carrier is retaliating for the complaint I filed last month. I spoken to the Supervisor at the mail station and even wrote the Post Master about this mail carrier's attitude. This type of behavior is dangerous because she's serviced to handle very important mail for the public. This post office needs to seriously reprimand the mail carrier on my route. read more

I was treated incredibly rudely when I went to ship an item. Instead of directing me to the automatic postage machine, the woman attending the front told me "I can't help you" when I walked in past closing time and asked for help. I will NEVER go back. Unacceptable. read more
