The postmaster and I talked about the price of stamps going up to $.60, and she said soon to be $.63, to which I responded that I still find it fascinating that the postal service can send a letter from one place to another for even that small price... It seemed a tad dingy in there. This post office serves about 7,200 residents in the Blackstone community. There's a ramp for easy access and plenty of parking. They are open for retail M-F 9:00-5:00, and Saturday 9:00-11:00, with the lobby open 24/7. The usual services are offered, however, no passport service. Former postmistress Fannie Barrett is credited with suggesting the town's name to be changed to Courtland. Courtland has a rich history dating back to 1750, and is known for the trial of Nat Turner in 1831. The hours are M-F 8:30-4:30, Saturday 10-12:00, and the window closes for lunch from 1:30-2:30. John Ricks is listed as the postmaster at this branch which serves about 4,300 residents.

Today is the 19th and I still have not received my missing mail. Another visit to the Post office today produced no results. The canned response he kept repeating to any question was " all the mail will be delivered today". I guess this is another case of a postal work delivering the file to the trash bin.
