Apparently this post office hasn't heard about the global pandemic. I have been going here once every few weeks or so, when I can't get to another PO; and they are consistently extremely lax about mask usage. Furthermore, they got very aggressive when I *politely, quietly* said, "I'm rather shocked by your mask-less-ness." They insisted that masks around the neck or under the mouth mean they "are wearing masks," them threw my receipt on the floor and yelled at me all the way out the door. read more

Extremely rude employees that work there. I sell my stuff on Poshmark all the time, and people who buy stuff pay for the priority shipping, so we can use whatever priority package we want. The lady "patrolling" the post office is extremely misinformed and made me feel incompetent about packing an item i sold when it clearly says on the postage we can use whichever box. When i told her that, she simply rolled her eyes and said "well i only suggested the paper envelope. Go use a box if you want". I was a little nervous to see the low starred reviews on this post office, but pleasantly surprised and happy with my most recent service on the phone. It's important to note that my current experience started with an error, where not one but two parcels of mine that I dropped off in a drop off street box was not scanned and most likely lost in transit. However, the man I spoke on the phone with was an absolute great help on how to move forward with the issue. Unfortunately, I never got his name, but with patience and sympathy, he helped explain my issue, how COVID and high vaccine-demand impacts have might come in to play, what's most likely to have happened, my options,etc. Super grateful for the clear help and advice I received, I almost would rate 5 had it not been for the factor of it being an initial post office error. read more

Worst office ever and a waste of tax dollars! Why are boxes not accessible 24 hours and why are they always closed for any basic holiday - sometimes even the day before and after a holiday. They were even closed for "filming" one day. Boxes should still be accessible even if closed! Staff always revolving /leaving and coming overworked and lazy.probably underpaid. I shipped some makeup to an eBay customer using this post office. There were 24 containers of various colors of Bare Minerals eyeshadow. When it arrived to the customer, there were eight colors missing. The customer messaged me to tell me this and I was shocked to find this out. I know I shipped every item to her in that package. The only conclusion I could come to was that the package had been opened, picked through and then resealed by staff during a routine inspection. Truly an unbelievable experience to know that one of the USPS workers went through this package and selected the colors that she liked, took them, and then sealed the package back up and sent it on its merry way. I'm extremely insulted by this level of customer service and professionalism. It's extremely low. Don't go to the post office if you have anything girly to send through the mail. I would go to another post office where there are less young employees with sticky fingers. They know nobody's watching them and they know that they're going to get away with it so do not waste your time sending anything valuable through this post office. read more

Least reliable mail carriers ever. It's pretty much a guarantee at this point that if my packages are being shipped via USPS I won't get it. Constantly leaves 'customer not home' messages on deliveries when I'm literally at home waiting for the package. Also continuously leaves our shared apartment mailbox unlocked at the master key level. If you call and try to complain they just give you the runaround, make you wait endlessly on hold, or even better they disconnect the call after you have been on hold. I hate this place and I hate that they are basically holding customers hostage because who else is gonna deliver the mail? Just a bunch of lazy people with zero pride in their work, zero urgency or consideration for making deliveries, and zero empathy for customers when USPS is at fault. Only one person at the counter at 4pm. I've never been here with only one employee. Something is wrong or everything may be wrong at this location. This post office needs a change in staff. Once I came in to pick up a package and I told the lady I was waiting a long time. She snapped back at me and told me that going to the post office was like going to the DMV and I should expect slow service. Fast forward, over the past week I've had 2 packages that showed delivered which in fact were not delivered. I file complaints on the USPS website and they magically deliver it a few days later and sometimes I'll get a follow up call. This is not the first time it's happened either. It looks like what they are doing is marking the packages as delivered to make it look like they met their timelines and then they deliver the package a few days later. Very shady practice whatever they are doing and it's quite disappointing. read more

As you approach the front door, it is very possible to be greeted by a homeless person and/or person begging for money. I'm used to this having lived in urban Berkeley and Philadelphia, and it's not USPS's responsibility. However, I thought customer service was bad at other post offices, but I think this one takes the cake on bad. I'm the kind of person who tries to be friendly and smiley to any person working the front lines, but no matter what the folks here don't smile, don't really care about being nice. The only time they have gone out of their way to say something extra was to criticize the way I labelled my package, which I know I did right because I send packages often. I think it's called power tripping. Lines can be very long, which is to be accepted for a high traffic, densely populated neighborhood. But what could help is to organize and display shipping materials, labels etc in such a way that people can get to them earlier in line and be able to complete them before getting to the front. They sometimes have a person going trough the line and asking the nature of each customer's needs, and they should do this more often in order to take care of the low hanging fruit. Getting into the parking lot can be kind of a pain. There is a one-lane narrow entry on the Grand View side so that cars have to take turns going in or out. Same with the Venice Blvd side. What's worse is that the Venice side has a weird and tight three lane split into one way lanes. The Grand View side has car pull-up blue postal drop boxes, one for priority express, two for regular and priority. Best advice is to purchase postage online and package your item beforehand so all you have to do is drop it off and avoid lines. Last collection hours for mail is 545pm on weekdays, 4pm Saturday and closed Sunday. Always a wait here. Always a crowd. Horrendous PO Box customer service. Their service "bell," the ringer by the door that lets them know a POB customer is waiting, has been broken/missing for more than a couple of years. You can stand at the door waiting after knocking for ten minutes or more. Budget cuts so minimal resources, not amazing pay or benefits, understaffed because of quarantining for COVID and they deal rude customers who mistreat them. The number of stars is besides the point as the Federal government puts USPS employees in an untenable position by shrinking resources and manpower. Second time in this post office. Nikki, the postal worker, is always friendly, cool and efficient. I arrived with a large present, already wrapped, to send to my mom. She suggested putting two boxes together. And that she would help me once I was done. It was a little before 9:00 a.m. on 12/21/22. But there was already a line forming. Everything was going fine until a customer loudly and rudely insulted Nikki. At the time he was on his phone and did not have his many envelopes ready for mailing. She simply reminded him that he needed to be ready. She did not deserve to be screamed at by a customer for doing her job. Also, there's a sign posted about no phone usage at the window. Nikki has always been efficient and friendly. Especially since she's always the only one working at the window. Clearly the post offices are short staffed everywhere. Please take care of the staff that you do have coming to work everyday. There should be bonuses and some sort of hazard pay for your workers. No one deserves that type of verbal abuse or menacing behavior. Nikki managed to hold it together long enough to complete the transaction. Afterwards smiling and engaging other customers. If this were in NY he would have been thrown out. Or simply not waited on. Great job NikkiAnd thanks for the help with my mom's Christmas gift. read more

Oddest experience today. Me and another gentleman walked in nobody at the counter @ 530 we call out "Hello" finally after several minutes this young lady comes out I say hello she kind of rolls her eyes...the guy goes first and wants stamps she says nobody is here to sell stamps...I'm like you're here. I have never had am issue here, the line moves quickly and the employees seem nice and helpful...not overly friendly, but definitely not a problem... I have been shipping stuff with USPS for *ages* though, so i rarely need them to do anything for me except charge the proper postage and be on my way. I have seen lots of other people have a plethora of problems here, and at every post office i have ever been to, and 9 times out of 10, it is user error, not the post office's fault. I guess it's the USPS overall. I haven't received 90% of my mail since I moved and now I'm moving again so hope noone needs to send me anything in the mail. I cringe everytime a company or personal friend says "I will mail it to you" and I say "Nooooo not that!!" I receive digital images of my incoming mail. Back at the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, I received an image of a refund check from my previous apartment. It was in a window envelope and part of the check showed in the window - the amount which was over $2,000. I waited and waited. I called the Long Beach Post Office and upon inquiry was informed "due to Covid-19, the Post Office is short staffed and it will be delivered "soon since you received the image." OK. So I wait a bit longer. After two weeks, I filed a concern with the Long Beach PO supervisor (but never heard back) - to search for the missing check. Then another week later, I filed a concern with the PO in the issuing city - never heard back. And finally, I filed a complaint with the USPS in Washington DC at the head office. You guessed it: never heard back. At the end of the 3rd week, I called the apartment office and told them the story. They said no problem, it hasn't been cashed so we can re-issue it and mail it today. I said "Noooo not that!" I went to go pick it up and unfortunately the apartment office decided it was ok to charge me their bank stop payment charge of $35. I said it's not my fault the PO lost the check. And they said, it's not our fault either. Oy! I also mailed a birthday card in June - dropped it off at a Postal Annex store locally in Long Beach. It's August and it never made it to San Francisco.... And so it goes.... read more

Mail delivery stopped since Dec. 24, up to now we haven't get any mail. We know there is shortage of staff, but with the business we are in, one third of the tenants don't pay, and we still have loan to meet, and no mail for rent check is coming. Self service is supposed to open at 7:30am but never opens till 8:30am-9am! With atleast 10 people waiting for them to open to access PO Boxes. My mail gets returned for no reason from clients. This office just doesn't have any good service, especially nowadays under the covid19, when people must stay longer in line, distance etc. All I needed is to send a package abroad. Birthday gift to my sibling. I went twice, waited a long time in line only to find out there system crushed or wrongfully treated my package (returned to sender). This is by far the worst Usps I've ever been to. Closing time is at 6pm, I got there around 5:48. Immediately after I went in, an employee( young black lady) locked the front doors. Another person tried going in at about 5:50 and the employees loudly and rudely says " nahaha, I ain't about to unlock the door" customer says " it's 5:50" and employee said " I don't care, we got a line and I'm trying to go home at 6" then another man knocks on the door and the employee wasn't letting him in. He eventually came in though the side door that she had not locked yet. She told him to get out and the guy said " I'm just dropping off a package that has postage already, closing time is in 10 mins" the employee proceeded by calling him a fucking asshole and said fuck you. This employee clearly didn't care. The guy then asked to speak to a manager and the same employee said " I'll go get her, she ain't gonna do anything" so she does go get the manager but the manager refused to come out. Then the same employee and another female employee behind the counter start laughing at the guy. And the same employee says fuck you and his family to him. I don't understand how this employee is so comfortable disrespecting customers. She clearly has not faced consequences. read more

I am having recurring problems with the carrier who delivers mail. And she is horribly aggressive if you try to talk to her about the issues. I am getting my neighbors mail on a consistent basis - twice already this week. I was home when she delivered, and I took the letter and went to catch up to her and as I started to say this was not my mail she started yelling at me not to talk to her or approach her, grabbed the mail out of my hand and started yelling as she walked away. I don't know where my mail is, or if she went back and delivered my neighbors mail. She needs to be fired. I've seen many good Post Offices, here is the worst one in my life. I never dare to expect more than a basic sense of accountability of USPS, this team just doesn't care a damn. The postmaster is master of delivering unlimited trash ads, but extremely LAZY to deliver normal mails properly with integrity. He randomly left my government-issued ID and $550 valued priority mail in a public area but updated as "delivered to the leasing room", no signature, no check-in record as required, no body saw it, too lazy to leave any notification which pretty much caused an identity theft, and refused to provide a responsible explanation or support the searching. "You're welcome to submit a claim" this is the worst sentence I ever heard from a service department - but everyone in this Post Office love to say it anyway. When I was questioning, there were other residents looking for answers about their undelivered mails as well, meanwhile certain employee was yelling at customers. The management is horrible to know or control anything, but enjoying in siting for retirement. Taxpayers do not deserve such a Post Office. Updated: my claims got denied by USPS. Per some comments online, people would be never able to get insurance reimbursed their lost if USPS marked something's delivered in their system. read more
