A friend recommended I come here as I had to purchase a large size box for a return. They had all the possible sizes of boxes one could ever need. I was a bit lost in the store when I first entered, but a lady came up to me right away and helped me find the size I need and even had me test it out to make sure my item fit. 10/10 for above and beyond customer service and the store was clean and very well organized. Box city has consistently been the solution to my shipping needs for years. I've always been 100% satisfied if not pleasantly surprised with what they have to offer for any packaging or shipping solutions. This location is slightly difficult to get to given it's on quite a busy street especially if you're going north bound on Lincoln. Street parking has always been easy though if you get over that hurdle or find yourself southbound. I have yet to find a package I can't deliver with a box or protective packaging from box city and I am sure you will also be completely satisfied! read more

We discovered Box City when we needed to help our son move to NYC. We had a pile of miscellaneous and oddly shaped things (golf clubs, skis, etc.) totaling over 300 lbs. One of the employees (young guy - think his name was Tyler) patiently helped us box everything up and quote a freight price significantly less than any other regular commercial shipping option. Was referred to Box City by my local USPS for boxing services. Upon arrival, there was no greeting, and the sales associate was extremely rude and unhelpful. While I waited patiently, she continued talking excessively with another customer. After a long wait, a different associate returned from his break and asked if he could help the customer behind me before assisting me. I ultimately had to assist myself and was offered his tape roll, yet was later charged the full price for a roll that was never offered to me. I bought 100 8.5x11 cardboard flats. For protecting photographs. I noticed that some of them were cut at an angle so photo is not protected. It's a simple mistake. When I asked about the mistake the two gentleman working at box city Marina del rey said they were not responsible because the store does not cut the cardboard. They buy it from a vender. If they are not responsible for the products they sell and are just looking out for themselves why should I trust them as a customer ? read more

If you do a lot of online shopping and you don't want to have packages delivered to your residence because of hot handed thieves, consider having your packages delivered to a Box City location for pickup. I never heard of these guys until I had a couple of packages that were supposed to be delivered to a UPS location rerouted to Box City (I was told for "security reasons"). Since then, I've selected them for a couple of other packages. I haven't had any issues retrieving my packages and I feel pretty comfortable with them so far. Also, the facility is nice and clean. I don't deal with boxes, but if you're looking to buy boxes, they have tons. *There's a few parking spaces behind the store. read more

I like this store. They have a great assortment of brown shipping boxes of all sizes here. The boxes are on shelves with prices marked in size order from small to largest. Prices are reasonable. They also have moving supplies although I prefer U-Haul for those. I needed help locating a box for what I needed to ship and an employee showed me the right size when I described the item. They also have bubble envelopes all sizes good prices. Free parking. Costco is across the street and so is In and Out Burger. I would come back here for shipping boxes or envelopes. read more

I went to Box City looking for a box that would fit a specific item. It seems like they do have a very big selection of different size boxes, but I was just looking for one. They don't have much selection when it comes to cardboard thickness or durability. You have to buy a box that's specifically an "electronics" moving box or a dish moving box to get the double thickness cardboard. They did have a box that would fit my item pretty closely, but it was $12.95. While not a perfect fit, I could use the uhaul extra large box that costs $2.49 and is similar or better quality, so that's what I did. I kept reading reviews about good prices, so I was expecting a lot better. read more

I've moved literally dozens of times, and always appreciate a moving supply place that is conveniently located and has what I need. I could look on their website (which is sometimes down--frustrating) and find just about every weird size box you could imagine. Call them first to see if they have those weird sizes. If they don't, they will get them in. Discounts on bulk purchases. Why four stars? The quality of the boxes. I bought 3 dozen of their 12 x 10 x 8 boxes for mailing books. I used their shipping tape. I am an experienced packer and pack tight with good padding and stuffing. Most of the boxes looked more like balls than boxes when they arrived at their destination. Most had torn-open corners. Some had opened up enough that the some of the valuable, leather-bound books inside had fallen out and are missing. One box came completely apart, and I am trying to deal with the post office to see if I can recover the contents. read more

They know every single box size and shape, and that's saying a lot because they have every kind of specialty box you can imagine. They also have a wide assortment of filler, wrap, packaging, tape, etc. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, they'll get any item you can't locate or lift, they bring things to your car, they help you decide on the right product. Although Box City (Marina del Rey) has a good supply of boxes and packaging materials, they are in very short "supply" on how they handle customers. My experience was so bad, I just left (even though I really needed to purchase an item). It felt like there was a misogynistic attitude. There's no two ways about it: moving is a giant pain. Stuffing all of your worldly belongings into boxes is tedious and time consuming and somewhat of an art. As someone who has moved 14 (count 'em!) times in the last ten years, I'd consider myself somewhat of a moving expert at this point. Had I known about Box City earlier, this place would've been part of my moving arsenal years ago. Box City is nothing fancy--really just a room piled high with every size and shape of box imaginable. Their customer service is killer and the guys working there are quick to see if you have questions, need help grabbing anything, or want a hand getting everything to your car. I worked for a grocery store in my early twenties and used to scrounge up their old, flimsy boxes to pack. Do yourself a favor and get yourself some sturdy ass boxes that are the exact size you need and won't break from the bottom as soon as you pick them up. This feels like the adult thing to do. Prices here are great--I've gotten 11 nice boxes of various sizes, packing paper, and tape all for about $40. There's a little parking lot onsite so you won't have to lug your purchases too far at all. It's also across the street from an In n Out, and you're moving and thus deserve a cheeseburger. I moved. I needed boxes. This is Box City, so I assumed that's what they would have. The guys were super nice, suggested how many boxes based on my square footage, and helped me get everything to my car. They also have packing supplies (paper, tape, bubble wrap, etc.) They have a 30 day return policy (with receipt.) The parking lot was never full and it's easy access off of Washington. My only complaint is that I initially tried to go a few times during what their website claims are open hours...and they were already closed. Other than that, super well priced (cheap!) and will use in the (very, very far future) when I moved again. read more

Needed boxes. Lots of them. Kitchen remodel coming up. My house keeper was coming over to help me pack up the kitchen so I boogied on down to the Box City store in Marina del Rey. Yes, Virginia, they do have boxes. Every possible type of box. Around 2,000 different kinds of boxes. The customer part of the store is very small.... you just sort of look around, there's a menu on the wall, you tell the guy what boxes you want, and he brings them out to you. the prices are good and the staff will take the bigger boxes to your car. The parking sucks a little bit, because it's hard to get in and out of their lot when it's crowded. The day I was there, a humongous truck backed into the parking lot and the driver had to help me maneuver my way out of the lot. But I had my handy dandy boxes in the trunk so I was a happy camper. read more

This was my first and last experience with Box City. Not only did not fulfill my online order in time, the store clerk was completely clueless and it wasn't until I contacted corporate that I was able to get to the bottom of where my order stood. After explaining the situation and driving there from the South Bay, I was assisted by the store manager Henry, and he did just fine. I even apologized to him for my frustrating attitude towards the situation. You know, be the bigger person? Well, on the way home, the associate from the store who started this whole situation decided to call me from his cell phone no less and essentially verbally accost me. Well, I didn't take that lying down and I filed a complaint with the corporate office, which I'm sure will produce no results. I wish I had just stuck it out and ordered from Amazon. Right, wrong or indifferent, they can at least deliver somewhat reliably and not make you feel bad for giving them your hard earned money. Thank you Box City for helping me realize that.
