For some reason, a lot of packages are "opened" when you receive them, and items are missing, they lost a Cell Phone, and some Pandora Jewelry, amongst other items. So apparently, it's a gamble sending your mail here, but I stuck around because it only happened a few times. But recently, I was late for my anual renewal payment (I was away on a work conference and was late 5 days) and I was told by the staff that they had "Returned to sender" all of my mail from the days I missed my payment. But unfortunately, they were not Returned to sender. It was a hassle, I had to dispute these purchases because the businesses wouldn't help me, obviously! because my packages were Signed "as received" and they had proof of delivery, and absolutely not their fault. There is also no proof that they were returned to sender at all. Last activity on my tracking numbers is Delivered, signed by: Romo. What is the point in the National City Post Office writing a letter regarding a letter carrier that was severely bitten, and as a result mail was exposed to biohazardous material and to let them know if we want to receive it or dispose of it and to call THEM at 619-477-1085 if they can assist you. The only problem is that I have called them during business hours from 8/27 through 9/3---no one answers and no voicemail picks up to leave a message. What was the point of the letter and to offer assistance if we call? Why not provide an email address? Oh, probably because then there would be a record of communication and there'd be accountability. If they had zero stars, I would gladly give it---unfortunately that is not an option. read more

They have good customer service but always tend to fail on promises. Was promised I can have an oversized packaged shipped no problem to my PO BOX and I'll get a call to pick it up if it won't fit in a parcel box. Upon delivery, they refused my package from the fed ex delivery driver and I had to go to the border to pick it up. Also, they promised me packages next day, the attendant didn't put the packages in the PO Boxes until 11:00am which is my lunch at work. I work 6:30-6 meaning you all will be closed when I come to pick up meaning it will be now 2 days that my package was delivered and was not able to receive it in a timely manner. Today I received my Certificate of Naturalization (which was taken away when I applied for my passport) and Im very dissatisfied with the way they handled the envelope. It was folded from the bottom and when I opened it I could see the wrinkles and fold in the certificate. I understand that it is handle by many people before it got to me, but you can tell that was made when the mail person shoved it in the mail slot. He could of left it in the door but no I guess it was easier to shove it in. This house doesn't have a typical mailbox (It is a mail slot in the side wall by the door). This is frustrating because replacing it is expensive $555 to be exact. The department of states should send certificates in a sturdy envelope with a "DO NOT BEND" sign on it (sigh). I don't know what quality of service they usually provide here, but in my experience, I bought an item on Amazon and the seller dropped it off at this location and it was supposed to arrive in LA the next day. USPS failed to scan and process the package correctly and it is currently in Ohio ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I have been coming here since my office relocated to national city and I rally appreciate the speed with which they do their work. For example there was a 10-12 person line today and with 6' distancing you know what it looks like. I was worried it was going to take forever since they only had 2 people working at the cashiers , but to my surprise I was already next within 15 minutes . It took me about 10-15 minutes to find parking and it was quite frustrating that I had to wait so long for someone else to leave before I was able to park. I would rather have went to another post office in the area if it meant parking would be easier. However, once I got into the post office I was helped quickly by the workers. I came to drop off a few packages and noticed that they were missing a lot of the priority mail boxes that are normally available to customers. This may be because of the holiday season, but I found it odd how empty this section was. There are drop boxes outside the post office on the street to drop off letters and small packages. read more

I entered the office at 4:30 and there was a fairly large line. I didn't have to ship anything so I wasn't forced to wait in it, rather I waited in a shorter line because I was simply attempting to pick up my belongings that was suppose to be delivered by UPS. I had checked my tracking information and it had stated that it was delivered to a local post office. Seeing as I knew where my local post office was I decided to go pick my package up. I expressed my reasoning for coming to the post office to a Mr. Ruben A Mendoza and he told me that he would not be able to give me my package. I asked why that was and he said that when UPS drops off packages it is done on a large pallet and that once he scans it in he must deliver it to the house. I wasn't quite sure as to why that was, so I asked just that. Mr. Mendoza said that if he were to give me my package he would have to deliver all 300 packages and the. Proceeded to ask me if I was going to pay the over time for the workers to do just that. I now see that it was a time issue and being that it was close to 5:00 on a Friday, Mr. Mendoza was more worried about getting off on a Friday. Last part may be speculation, but I find it quite ironic. I asked why it was that if I paid for an item that belongs to me, why was I unable to get my belongings? His response was "it is in my possession, so it belongs to me." I found this comment, along with the whole ordeal to be extremely unprofessional and asked how do I make a compliant. I ask if he was a manager and he said yes, which I'm extremely shocked at. I then asked for his manager and he said her name was joy. I asked for a last name for identifying purposes and he said that was all he was going to give me and that the conversation was over. Mr. Ruben A Mendoza was extremely unprofessional and rude. Stating that my belongings that I paid for are his is absolutely uncalled for and I'm ashamed to learn that actions such as those are tolerated by the United States Postal Service. read more

Hello, today at around 3pm PST i visited this local post office in National City CA 91950 because my Amazon seller told me that my package was being held there for pick-up. When i arrived i went straight to the pick-up counter and was greeted by an older black male who later identified himself as Brian, no last name given. As i explained to him that i was there to pick up an item my Amazon seller said was being held for me he said do you have a PO BOX OR ADRESS so after giving him jy address he then said there is nothing being held for that address so he asked if i had a tracking number. I went into my Amazon account and showed him the tracking number provided by the seller. Brian then tells me that the item has not arrived with them and that the seller only created a shipping label. I then asked him what does that mean? Since i never visit the post office, this information was not a question i was prepared for so he then grabs a package near by, holds it up in his hand and starts to talk to me like as if talking to a toddler and says in slow motion "A...TRACKING...LABEL" while pointing to the item his hand. I immediatly told him "don't talk to me like that!". He ignored me and instead of apologizing he continues to talk disrepectfully to me so i then tell him straight to his face "you do not talk to people like that, you are an asshole" he then started to swear back to me so we both went back and forth saying fuck you to each other so as i walked away I asked him his name and he said Brian, i then asked a different employee that i needed to talk to the Post Master and the young man said talk to that guy he is the supervisor. I shockingly said "Brian is the supervisor? He is an asshole i do not want to talk to him so he then told me that Tony is the Post Master but he left for the day. i have been in the customer service business close to 40 years now. I started as a bagger at the naval station commissaries and worked my way up to management. I managed a large local super market for years before i left to manage an attorney's office here in San Diego. After 5 years i left that job to dedicate myself to my lifelong goal of working in the Real Estate invensting market. I have not held a job since 2005 because my customer service skills are excellent and i attract plenty of clients simply by being professional and ethical in my work. Today i encountered the most unprofessional government employee to date. In the ten years i worked at the Naval Base 32nd Street commissary i never encountered such an undisciplined worker. I take pride in treating my clients and potential clients with the outmost respect but this man comes no where near being supervisor quality. The fault lied with the USPS and in failing to properly train and appoint the right people to hold these posistions of authority. Seniority should not be the reason you put someone in charge, rather exemplary character and work ethic are priority number one. Seeing the government still operates under an outdated Merit system it is no wonder idiots like Brian hold supervisor positions. I would like to see this man reprimanded and written up and i do not owe him an apology since HE is the employee in service of the government and I am the customer! He needs to be removed from his position or sent back to the mls for training on how to stay in control no matter what is being said to him. I tried my best to remain in control from the beggining since he was condensending from the start but after he started to talk to me like i am a retarded person i let him clearly know what i thought of him. Post Master Tony, See your camera and you will see that i was in control until he held up that stupid envelope to show me in a child like manner what it meant that the sender requested a shipping label. If you can hear the conversation you will clearly hear him start swearing back to me out loud while the lobby was full of other customers. Anyone who had had a problem with Supervisor Brian or the Post Master who knows Brian is an asshole please submit a formal complaint online at the USPS Office of Inspector General. The lines tend to take a bit longer here before one's turn, however it's just a regular process as it appears. The annoyance is if someone sparks a conversation with a staff member. Parking entrance/exit is like a rubik's cube for any age without enough spots, both in front or back. This location is a total hazard if it's busy on the road. read more

I would give them zero starts if possible. My family has not been receiving mail for 15 months, and we've tried reaching out to the post office here in National City on multiple occasions. After multiple calls and emails, they have not been communicating well with us and haven't solved the problem. Today I was on the phone with Brian and he said no one had returned my calls because someone was out sick. I asked when will this person be back to be able to help me and he said it's "none of my business." I asked to speak with someone else who knew about my problem or a supervisor and he said he was the only supervisor available. At the end I said I URGENTLY need the mail and need this problem fixed, since its been over a year but all he would say is that he couldn't do anything. Everyone at USPS always works so hard. The staff is always so patient, friendly and helpful! Lines can build up so fast, but at the same time, they move quickly too. It has been a crazy year for them, let alone this month and I just hope people are very understanding if their job! It's not that simple and easy. But it's still amazing how some deliveries get delivered so quick. My mom and I sent packages on Tuesday, the 22nd, and our relatives in LA county received it the very next day!!! So here's our only complaint with this USPS location... PARKING! This location has the worst customer parking available and there's literally no standby area to wait for an available spot since you have to wait basically as soon as you enter their driveway from the street. This backs up eastbound traffic on E 16th Street, as well as westbound traffic who await to make a left turn into the parking lot. The staff from our experience have always been good to outstanding. We know the vehicular traffic ingress/egress flow is not the employees doing, and the size limitations of the post office property is what it is. That said, as a customer, this is the most frustrating part of coming here and basically having to cross your fingers that your timing is just right and 1) it's very slow, or 2) you come just at the perfect time when someone is about to leave and you can use their now vacant space. This review is solely based on parking. If it weren't for that, we'd give this post office a four star review. read more

If you want your mail to arrive on time don't drop it off at this location. I am forced to use this post office because I work down the street. I dropped by DMV registration off one day before it had to be post marked and received a late fee by the DMV stating my check was post marked AFTER the due date. ZERO Star!!!! The manager is unprofessional, rude, and careless! I had a package shipped to National City, CA from Hawaii with a guaranteed arrival date of Friday, 4/17 by noon (PAID $92.85 for shipping). It DID NOT arrive ON TIME! I called the post office the same day, but the phone kept ringing with no voicemail message. I called the toll free 800 number that is listed online but they were closed. Long story short, I ended up picking up the package the following day to find everything inside the box destroyed all because the package wasn't handled with care and it was NOT DELIVERED on time!! The manager was absent on Saturday, so I left them a note to call me. 4 days later I still haven't receive a call.... I ended up calling them today finally spoke to the senior manager. This is our go to post office. I come here with my dad all the time whenever I'm down here. As a whole, the office is ok. There are lots of nice workers and some that are rude. If it's your first time and you even forget to sign your name at the bottom of the application, the old hag working the Application window will call you a "Mother F****** idiot" and laugh in your face (yes, she did this to me). Horrible service and follow up. To this date I haven't received my mail after informed delivery said it was being delivered that day. I guess carriers are allowed to pick and choose what they deliver. My carrier chose not to deliver my mail resulting in my stimulus checks to be lost in their system.
