United States Post Office has got to be making minty at this location. I used to hang in this hood! I needed stamps so I find it very convenient to order online for delivery. The stamps and receipt were in my locked mailbox yesterday. Each set of stamps was in a hard cardboard mailer keeping them flat. The service was great being timely based on email notifications. If you're in the financial district stop in here. Otherwise it's easy to order online. I'm recommending. read more

I have tried to call this post office severel times over 3 months and all I get is an automated robot. I need my questions answered by a human and that isn't going to happen unless I actually drive over on my lunch break. I am so disappointed and annoyed. I have updated my mailing address with my bank and yet receive nothing from my bank in my po box. I called my bank to confirm the change although my bank checks say po box at the top I called just to make sure. I have just found someone's mail in my po box, this leads me to believe that my po box had been compromised the whole time. I am so disappointed. read more

The United States postal service for browns Mills New Jersey is ridiculous. They want to cry about a little twig that's been growing for 3 years. It's obstructing them delivering the mail which is a bunch of b*******. It's the same little Branch that's been there for the same 3 years. What happened to nor rain nor sleet nor snow. But you're going to refuse to deliver the mail over a twig that's been growing in the same spot for three f****** years. Then I stood there until she says "following". I placed my labeled packages on the counter and she said "what do you need" I said "to send them" and she just looks at me....and says "put them on the scale one by one" like excuse me, that's your job which I told her that and she said "does it look like I can reach, my arms are short!" please do better USPS. This USPS location has a sign that states only service dogs for blind people are allowed. This is extremely illegal as there are other disabilities that require service animals. Not to mention it's against the law to even ask someone why they have a service dog. Staff is also extremely rude every time I go there. read more

In my experience one of the best USPS locations I've been to. The employees are significantly friendlier and more approachable than any other post office I've been to before. Kira, especially, is absolutely fantastic and has been nothing but nice to me. She's very informative and helpful. The other ladies who work there are also very pleasant ,but I don't know their names. I typically go a few times a week so I interact with them quite often. I feel that most post offices are notoriously staffed with rude employees who treat you walking in to the store alone as the biggest inconvenience, but this location proves that stereotype otherwise! read more

Mrs.Knight was extremely rude before I even said a word to her. She yelled at me, belittled me and said to get out for simply walking in with my dog. I had to take my dog for a walk and thought I would drop off a package while I'm at it. I say okay go outside and get someone to hold my dog for me while I go back in to quickly drop off the package. She rolled her eyes, gave me an attitude and was being extremely condescending as I gave her the barcode. I just left and told myself I'd find another location to drop my package off at another day. I was beyond humiliated at this post office location today!!!! I was basically forced to leave by a rude, ignorant employee only because I entered the office with my trained service dog!!!! The post office employee literally said I need to leave immediately because I have a "pet" with me ( mind you it was in the midst of NYC rainstorm on a cold October day) or she said leave your "pet" outside! I repeatedly explained my dog is not a pet and that he is a service animal professionally trained and harnessed with visible medical signs on his vest to assist with my medical condition and that we should under no circumstances to be separated - but she continued to ignore my words. How inconsiderate and unprofessional - I will make sure to file a claim agains this location!!!! Under ADA act a service animal is not only assistance animal trained only for the visually impaired!! Our special needs come in many different forms!!! Sometimes disability can be the invisible one! There are cardiac service dogs, asthma service dogs and PTSD trained dogs among many official service animals that have the full right to enter all federal buildings with their handlers. Their training and assistance defers them from pets. Shame on you Hanover Square post office!!!! Beware of this location if you have a service animal!!!! read more

The hours here do suck. This location was the most convenient for me but the hours worked since I was visiting the Museum of American Finance for free on Tues from 10-11am. It was a bit hard to find, but it's right next door to Thomas Pink. I was in and out. No hassles, no worries. The employees weren't behind glass like the Midtown West location I'm used to. They didn't seem like the friendliest workers, but they got the job done. I guess I'd be annoyed too having to call over customers who aren't paying attention. read more

Staff is very rude and disrespectful at the Post Office at 1 Hanover Square. I mailed my daughter a check on September 23rd regular mail and she still did not receive it. It usually takes 2-3 business days from Manhattan to Staten Island. I went to the PO to inquire why it was taking so long. There is no one available on hand so I rang the bell for assistance. The lady with the short hair and glasses behind the counter across from me decided to yell across and ask if I work for the Post Office. That was very rude to treat a customer that way. There was an incident where I was waiting on line and overheard one of the staff members complain that people don't drop off mail in the correct bins so they were going to chuck their mail right into the garbage. We went to this post office today because the post office we attempted to patronize had to close this morning when Verizon cut their electrical lines while working on an adjacent building (and don't get me started on Verizon, as I've had endless atrocious experiences with them during the past several years). I used to live right above this USPS office. I like the convenience of the place, but as people have pointed out the hours are not that great, and for some reason there's ALWAYS a long line not just for the counter service but also at the self service machine too. If you have time to wait in line this would be a good location, otherwise locations in midtown generally have better hours, especially the one by Penn Station. read more

I tend to focus on the positive and try to forget negative customer service experiences. I don't write bad reviews with any frequency, but instead write glowing reviews for truly wonderful places and people. Unfortunately, today was so bad--honestly, it was a little frightening, that I feel compelled to write a review. There is a middle aged woman with long braids who works the counter at this post office and she just went off on me. I had gone in for a particular product, she told me they didn't have it without even checking, and also made a snide comment about it, so I thanked her, left, and went to another post office down the road. There I found what I was looking for and purchased it. I then returned to that post office after preparing my packages to mail them. Before I even got up to the counter, I saw what I had been looking for front and center on display. I waited my turn and sure enough this same lady called me up. Or so I thought. I waited until the person in front of me left. I was the only person in line, and I thought I heard her say next, so I went up. Before I even got up to her she said "next time you need to wait until I say next," to which I did not respond, because I had waited and definitely thought I heard her say next, but anyway. I pointed to the product I'd been looking for not 30 minutes earlier and said "that was the product I'd been looking for" and she WENT OFF ON ME. She started screaming "she just put it out are you calling me a liar?!" to which I calmly said, "No, I haven't done any name calling, but I'll wait for someone else to help me." and then she kept going and screamed "what do you think I am RETARDED?!" which, by the way, is a completely unacceptable & offensive thing to say. Nobody should use that language, let alone a federal employee. Then she screamed at me to go to the front of the line and wait for someone else to help me. Which make no mistake, I did. Then she screamed "Next!" but of course there was nobody there but me. Fortuneately another window opened up and a very kind gentleman working there helped me with no issue. I thanked him and left. See, I worked in customer service for nearly 8 years. I get it. I show a lot more grace than most. I can take this woman being incredibly rude to me, but what if it had been someone with a not-so-thick skin?? It could have been somebody's grandmother or young son who perhaps had a learning disability. It makes me furious. I have no ill will to you, lady in the post office. I'm sure you were having a bad day. But I hope you read this and change your attitude because you never know what someone else is going through. There is no excuse to treat people the way you just treated me. Don't continue to do that to people. Life is too short. read more

It is INSANE how only 1 person is working at the counter, AT ALL TIMES, while everyone, like me right now, is waiting nearly 25 minutes to see that 1 person & I was next in line. After waiting for 25 minutes, I was told my package wasn't even delivered to that post office yet I clearly marked delivery to that specific post office. The employee told me I looked at it wrong. What a joke this USPS office at 1 Hanover Street in Downtown Manhattan is! Granted, many other USPS locations also get low ratings between 1 and 3 stars (as well as some Fedex and UPS locations), why would I even bother to write this negative review about this particular office? Here is my sad story.. On 12-27-2017 at around 2:00 p.m. I called this branch on Hanover St. and asked its employee (who sounded like a young African American gentleman) about their work hours. The man told me that they "work till 6 p.m. today". I thank him and went from Brooklyn to Downtown Manhattan with my little baby on a stroller on that extremely cold day. When I arrived, it was almost 3 p.m. I saw several customers arguing with a young gentleman (maybe the same guy who answered to me by phone?) near the entrance of the USPS office. The guy was telling us that he cannot let us in "because I am the only one in the store". I said to him "how come, I just called you and was told that you work till 6 p.m.?". The man just said "sorry".. I was speechless! I came to Manhattan with a baby on this freezing evening, with urgent mail on hand that now will go out after its deadline.. How can state employees just create a short "pre-holiday" day for themselves? Your salary is paid by us, public pays taxes! And stop taking everything for granted: your stable permanent employment, excellent benefits and pension, etc. Stop showing us your attitude, everyone has problems but we don't through ours in your face (like some of you do). Love this place. Line can be a bit tedious during peak hours, but usually empty or near-empty off-peak. Employees are knowledgeable and helpful. I'm not sure why so many negative reviews for them. As another reviewer put it, I never thought I would ever review a post office. This is the closest post office to my office, and it's convenient to go to when I need to mail a package. I've given this place so many chances, but between the long lines and unhappy employees, I'm not sure I want to go back. I was mailing a package today, and the employee at the counter grabbed from inside my box one of the books inside (I had not yet taped up the box) and told me that my educational items were not eligible for media mail, even though they are, according to USPS guidelines online. She also rudely told me that I could have gotten a free box since my package had to be mailed via priority. One would think that sharing something positive would be delivered in a positive manner...that was not the case here. I understand that these employees probably deal with a lot of difficult people, but that doesn't excuse poor behavior. I'm sad to say that I won't be going back, and in the rare instance that I must, I will gladly opt for the kiosk instead of going to the counter. read more

Warning: If you have anything valuable to ship, use UPS or FedEx, pay the extra money. They will lose your package aka employees steal your stuff and reroute the packages to the wrong state, I sent something to LOS ANGELES and it's still OUT FOR DELIVERY, IN TEXAS!.. These people know how to play the game, they HIJACK YOUR STUFF if they know there is no insurance on the package. Two things in a row I sent, and the packages somehow are still "In transit", a month later. Their tracking is a joke, it doesnt get updated. Dont get scammed with these people. Use UPS or FedEx for better piece of mind that your package will actually arrive. I would never use the post office ever again except to mail an envelope. And even that is pushing it, I sent my rent check to my landlord, and whoever delivered it CUT THE ENVELOPE OPEN with an opener (most likely thinking there was cash in there because I wrapped the check with some paper)! The pro is, there are self-serve so if you need to mail a domestic package, you can do it yourself. However, the con is, there is always a long line if you need to buy stamps or mail international. I went here today dreading what I thought the experience would be based off the other Yelp reviews. I actually had a very pleasant experience and, if you read my other Yelp reviews, you know I'm not afraid to give a place a bad review if I think they deserve it. This Post Office is small and off the beaten path -- I like that though. It made it feel private and comfortable, like I was in the best-kept-secret of Post Office's in the City feeling like a celebrity not having to deal with the usual Post Office dealings. The place is immaculate and there were 2 employees working there. I only dealt with 1, but she was super-pleasant and friendly. The other guy seemed nice from what I observed. The line was pretty fast and they had nice music in the background. Honestly -- no complaints. In fact, just the opposite. Nothing but praise for this location. USPS SUCKS! They loose items I order and I am sick of packages being delivered late. The tracking system is a joke. Take a look at this missing item's tracking number: RA839411732DE. It went from Germany to NY(where I live) then to LA. LA!? WTF!? The content was a priceless(to me), collectible silver coin. I know that some a-hole @ USPS stole the coin and rerouted the package to LA where it got lost. Here's another one missing so far: 9405510200881411930805 with delivery status: Delivery status not updated! Content: valuable computer parts. They don't 'loose' some crappy items or fail to deliver those commercials, they 'loose' valuable easy-to-sell-after merchandise. Did I write 'loose'? I MEANT STEAL! I hate them for that. read more

After 3 horrible experiences at this location, I will never return. The staff are the most incompetent, rude, sexist, horrible people I've ever encountered in customer service. Walk an extra mile to another USPS location if you have to, just to avoid these awful humans. My experiences: 1) The man ahead of me in line walks halfway to an open counter, having seen the previous customer leave. The female clerk yells at new customer and lectures him about not waiting to be called for his turn. She refuses to wait on him and instructs him (at full volume) to wait for the next clerk. I'm then waited on by the angry female clerk who drones on about said male customer. 2) I ask to see what stamp patterns are currently available. Male clerk lays down three options then immediately tells me my time is up and that they no longer allow customers to take the time to choose their stamp books. He proceeds to lecture me about taking too long to choose. Dude, I need to be able to lay my eyes on them first before selecting the book. 3) Last and final straw - same male clerk as above. I walk to the counter holding documents and an addressed envelope. I attempt to ask if I have selected the correct envelope for my needs and am cut off by male clerk who mansplains to me that in order to mail these important documents I need to first put them inside the envelope, seal it, and hand it to him. Really, a*hole? I take a deep breath and do as told. He then decides only one of the numbers in the address is written illegibly, though other similarly written numbers are elsewhere on the envelope. I comment that it's written clearly and he replies by again mansplaining that I need to think about how numbers look on a computer screen and try to make my written numbers look like that.
