can you believe the guy ., Abdul, behind the counter charged me to mail my election ballot!! then when I told him I shouldn't be charged, he changed the postage on it from $1.77 to 3.57?!?!Then when I told him again ballots aren't supposed to be charged for Mail, he pulled the stamp off the ballot and ripped the envelope. This Post Office is near my house, but I try not to go there if I can help it, just because there tend to be long lines. They have three counter stations but it seems like they tend to work with one or two either due to budget cuts or COVID. My tip would be go earlier in the morning when they open or if you're just doing a drop-off, otherwise don't expect a quick in and out. read more

Unspecified hours of service on Saturdays. One single person is working there. She is closing office for a break in a morning and then again for a lunch break. A long line of people were waiting outside when she came back LATE to her posted note on a door. That's ridiculous! According USPS website, the office hours on Saturday 9 am -1pm. This is NOT about the sole postal employee, an excellent employee, at this branch. One person for three windows. Of course. DeJoy BUT: 9:10 AM on 10/4 and there's a line out the door. The inside is filthy - with a couple DOZEN dead flies in the blackened window sill, disheveled barely stocked shipping supplies and trash on the floor. Outside the dead leaves, dead plants and peeling paint. One of the mail boxes is...duct taped. read more

The 2 main guys that work here, (A American and Hispanic) ARE amazing!!! They're cordial, friendly and efficient. I've never had a pleasant experience elsewhere, and I've lived all over the US. I love this post office because it is close to my house, the staff are very friendly. What I do not like is they have no rolls of stamps. They've been out of the for over 2 weeks. They are out of certain stamps from time to time, but rolls of stamps should be a staple item there. read more

I went to the Montclair branch post office at 8:30 a.m. this morning and the door was locked, even though the Lobby was supposed to be open at 7:00 a.m. and the stated hours for the counter was 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. I waited for 47 minutes. No sign of life in the building. I called the main P.O. number but after waiting through the worst menu in the world was told the wait time to talk to a human being was 55 minutes! It isn't as if they don't make enough money these days, given the price of mailing packages. Poor performance, Mr. DeJoy. read more

After a truly terrible experience at my local post office concerning a box that was supposed to be held for pickup there, I phoned the Montclair Post Office to see if I could have the sender ship to them instead, next time. What an amazing contrast in customer service! To begin with, Ramon answered the phone! If you don't understand how amazing that is, all I can say is you've probably never tried to phone the post office on West Grand. But, of course, Ramon did more to earn my five-star review than simply answering the phone. While my own post office was so mysteriously unhelpful and uninformed as to merit their own comedy skit or TV sitcom, Ramon at the Montclair post office was clearly knowledgeable and happy to help. Not only did he explain simply and clearly what I needed to know, he then followed up with clear and helpful advice so that I came away with a thorough understanding of my options and with tips to pass along to the sender for best results next time they ship to me. I hope the USPS chooses to reward employees like Ramon, and educate the others as to why everything works better when they "act like Ramon" at the Montclair Post Office. read more

The worst post office ever. The line is always out the door! Their only saving grace is the guys who work there. Super friendly and helpful. There is one lady who works there who is CRAZY though. I will leave if she is the only one on duty or let the person behind me in line go first if there is someone else to help me. Seriously, she has all these rules in her head that she either made up herself or just aren't used anymore. I've talked to the workers at the Piedmont Post Office about it and I'm totally justified in saying that she is a LOON! Good luck trying to mail anything if she is your helper! read more

I love the USPS as an organization, even with all the jokes about how they lose your mail or operate like a developing country. USPS always delivers my mail promptly, offers 2-day priority shipping for significantly cheaper than the next mail carrier, and offers deliveries on Saturday/Sunday for no additional cost. This branch, however.. IS run like a company in a developing country in the 1990s, before things were computerized. (I lived in Indonesia in the late 90s so I can tell you that's... bad.) I have a mailbox here (which I have decided not to use after these incidents) and they lost my packages which were shipped via 2-day shipping (because my daughter had pressing needs) TWICE, claiming they never arrived. Even though I had tracking numbers and emails from diapers.com as evidence. It was a bit frustrating trying to deal with them with a tired infant being kept waiting so my husband had to drop us off at home and return. Aftee two visits across two days and multiple phone calls, they finally found our packages. read more

It was my first time here (I usually frequent the one on 41st near Piedmont and have never had an issue), and the employee working in the front at the time was snarky, short tempered and hostile to me and everyone else in line. I was shipping 15 packages and I was bruskly told that only five could be done at a time and then I would have to go to the end of the line (after waiting my turn) so the other customers could go before me. I've never seen this happen at any other post office and have stood behind customers mailing out much more than I multiple times. He also threw all my packages roughly on top of one another in a box behind him. While he was printing labels, he repeatedly referred to me as ma'am (I'm not a woman, so...?), refused to help me with pricing options (how does a 6.9oz package to Chicago cost $12.21 while a 15.8oz package to Texas costs $7.67?), and publicly berated a woman holding two children when she asked if he could write down the address of another post office for her because she had her hands full (he answered "we all have our hands full, lady. Google it.") I get that maybe this job isn't conducive to loving every second of your existence and maybe it was a bad day but dang, how is it ever acceptable to talk to people that way? I've worked in bad customer service jobs before and would have been fired on the spot had I thrown a temper tantrum like this one at work. Will stick to the Piedmont one from now on. read more

Slow. So very very slow. Time does not move much here -- neither does the line of customers waiting for service. Once within this postage-stamp sized post office, you naturally begin to experience what 'getting old(er)' feels like. Stuck in time, you may begin to regret all the important things you never accomplished during your life -- a palpably shrinking entity. Peering cautiously at other customers with whom you are waiting, you note their lifeless expressions, the dullness in their eyes, and, after a while, you worry that you are all becoming zombified. At some point, you may long for human connection and try to strike up a conversation with a fellow customer ("Hi, Don't know how long you've been waiting, but I think that 33-cent stamp is not gonna work for you now."), or offer to dust the cobwebs off their coats, or even call for pizza for everyone (just don't use this PO for its delivery). read more

Answer the phone when someone calls!!! had to call local office because 1800 number sucks and is automated and just hangs up on you when you try to get connected to someone. this must be their new thing. *ucking stupid. I have a package that should have been delivered last week and i don't want to have to drive to the post office to find out where it is. the montclair office doesn't answer their phone at all. all reasons why i always ship with ups or fedex etc which may not be much great either but certainly better than the usps. read more

I had female workers works here they look unhappy and lost ppl's package, take long time only one star service from female worker. Empty on an August afternoon. Clerk pleasant, all I had was a prepaid package. The least painful visit to the USPO I've had in years!

Went to get holiday stamps. They had NONE, neither Christmas nor Hannukah. They did not apologize and the had NO sign saying they had no stamps to help prevent people from waiting in the long line. Have to say this may be why they are always financially strapped in the red and why for the most part I do most things online and send packages through other companies. read more
