We've been going to this post office for more years than I care to share. It's small, but has most of the services a larger post office does. So, you can by postal supplies, mail all types of mail handled by the post office, apply for passports, etc. Although it's small it does most everything you would need. I've always found the employees to be quick and pleasant to work with. The only issue is it really needs a facelift - it looks and feels old and could use some updating. That's a good reason to drop them one star, but I don't understand how it could rate less than that. I also read through some of the negative reviews and can say I've never experienced the challenges some mention. If I ever do, I think I would update the review to include feedback. read more

I have forwarded my mail since December 20 and the senders are getting mail retuned to them rather than the post office forwarding first class documents. Christmas cards, Medicare, social security, 1099's, banking and the list goes on. I have informed delivery so I know what is supposed to be forwarded. Unclean, overflowing parcel baskets, people not wearing masks, faded signage, only one person running the counter. This post office is an absolute dump! Depositing parcels, I couldn't because the bin was full so I had to shove them through the hole onto the floor of the staff area. Maybe the morons in back should have put a new parcel bin out! Instead they're understaffing the place to a point it is unusable. Forget this post office and go to the Northwest Highway P&DC and just dump your parcels. Batteries or not I'm not bothering with an office that can't bother to keep me safe or keep my parcels properly handled. Having to throw my parcels into a staff area is disappointing and exposes them to potential damage. Well another 1 star review for the Palatine post office. There simply cannot be enough communication on what goes on at this location. They put up a sign on the package drop box in early December saying "temporarily out of order". Mind you the metal mechanism has a very simple operation & looks to be in perfect working order. Timing is interesting....just in time to avoid the Xmas package rush. Sign is still up & it's January. This is a post office full of employees that simply hate your mail & packages. I had applied for American passport through US post office. My wife applied for her American passport on same day. My wife got e-mail stating her application has been received but there was no confirmation about my application. So I called National Passport office & I was told that there is no e-mail on my application and there is no middle name on my application. I told them that on my application form and on my citizenship documents, middle name and E-mail are there. National Passport office was not ready to listen and forced me to write letter giving proof of my application and citizenship where there is my middle name. They had all my documents but they were not ready to look into file and correct their mistake. Then, they put my application on hold. I replied to them by mail & resent copies of all documents and they got my mail in one week. Almost after Month, I received letter from National Passport office stating to submit passport fee. I replied to them giving proof of USPS postal order color copy with proof from post office where it clearly indicated that the postal order was cashed by them. After 101 calendar days, surprisingly, I received another letter from National Passport office asking for passport Fee. Meanwhile I had called post office who issued the money order. They (Octivia and Christ) made calls to Chicago passport Office but nothing was helping to solve the mystery even though National Passport office system was showing money/fee is paid. In Palatine post office , Octivia who issued US postal order, completed and submitted my passport application have been very co-operative. To assist me, she made few times call to inquire my passport status in front of me as a passport office representative from US post office. I can say that Octivia has realized my pain and went extra miles to help me out. She has good ears to listen and delicate heart to feel my pain. She is one of the best jewel in palatine post office. This post office charges $20 per week to forward our mail when we go south for the winter. I wouldn't mind the charge if the service were reliable but it's not. The concept is that "someone" from the post office is supposed to gather your mail for the week, package it and send it to your winter address every Wednesday. Meaning, in our case, it usually arrives Friday or Saturday in Arizona. The problem is that the "someone" responsible for packaging and sending sometimes sends it late or forgets to send it and so doubles up for the next shipment. I have a package out for delivery on a Sunday. It's being delivered to my office. The post office says they attempted delivery at 7:34 am this morning. (On a SUNDAY??) My office opens at 11. We also have a mail slot that this package would fit into. This is the 2nd time that a Sunday delivery was Missed. The other time they were "here" At 5 am. We all know that the post office isn't THAT efficient, especially on a Sunday. My local carrier even said that they don't deliver that early on Sundays. When you call them, you only get a robot to talk to. She needs y our birth weight, your assigned birth gender--then if male, a sperm sample, if female an underutilized egg, a gallon of blood and a stool sample. No wonder the post office is going out of business. There are no humans working...and the humans supposedly out for delivery don't know how to use a mail slot. 1 star is way too high for this inept organization. read more

I am so disgusted with the post office. I send a lot of pre labeled boxes in their drop box in the lobby. SOOO over a week ago I went to the post office at 600am to drop off, mind you xmas rush time. Well, I guess they do *technically* get my ish to where it needs to go, but it always takes a whole hell of a lot longer to get there when I mail it from here, or to anywhere in Palatine. Example: I mail 3 things from my home base in Naperville. 1 to Chicago, 1 to just outside Detroit and 1 to Palatine. My Chi mail will get there in 1-2 days, my Detroit in 3, my Palatine will 5-8 days, ALWAYS... without fail. When I go in to the office for service it is fast and courteous. However my mail delivery is horrible. I do not get mail that businesses promise they sent to me at the right address. The last four weeks I have gotten five other residents mail. Some living on a different street. Others on the same street but blocks away. I have even gotten someones Amazon items delivered by USPS left on my doorstep in the pouring rain.. I am delivering my neighborhoods mail almost weekly. Mailed an international package for my son on December 12, 2022 for Christmas. Tracking shows it never left the post office. I paid 65.00 to have it shipped. I went into the post office 12/ 28/22 after numerous calls to the 800 number and getting nowhere. The supervisor there Mike (big guy that must feel better about himself belittling people) was telling me he couldn't track it because they never received it even though the agent that helped me on Dec 12th was right there and remembered me. He basically called me a liar and got loud and rude with me, people in line were gasping and made comments about his behavior. I left in tears and had never been treated so poorly .Not only did my son not get his presents but there is no way to even get reimbursed until 60 days of it being lost. The reviews giving two stars to this facility are being much too kind. This is no doubt the worst US Post Office EVER. I live so close that I go here out of convenience. I keep giving it another try and I am disappointed every time. I would prefer to drive to another suburb to avoid the employees that work here. There is an Asian female who works here who is absolutely hateful. She was rude to me, but I actually witnessed her tossing a package at a customer and yelling; Need Label, Need Label. She then disappeared and did not return. The other customer and I spoke with the Supervisor at this location to retell our negative experiences. She was empathetic but who knows what will be done. I've had issues with the post office since 2019 when our regular carrier left the post office. We no go days with no mail. At this current moment I never received my mail from 1/31 and post office is closed now and never received my mail today. The mail yesterday and today is critical mail and need right away not something that can wait for whenever. I've filed at least 5 complaints on not getting mail. Wow the Palatine post office is on a role today with multiple 1 star reviews- 7/05/17! I called today to track down a package that sat for weeks as a "delivery exception". I asked what could be done, not letting myself be brushed off to the woman who answered the phone and she was straight up YELLING at me. I told her you are yelling at me, you cannot do that. She continued yelling at me. I asked for her name- she replied "I'm not giving you my name". I asked to speak to her supervisor- she hung up on me. I then went to the Post Office in person, and spoke with the Joey, whom told me he was a supervisor. Joey was apologetic, however it is no secret to local residents that dealing Palatine PO is horrendous. It is clear the atmosphere is toxic. JOEY- you need to have a serious pep talk with your employees- you have some serious bitches in your ranks. I have a feeling this incident is the same culprit whom the other reviewer referenced but I cannot be sure because she wouldn't give her name. hell! I wouldn't give my name if I were her either and could get away with it! This is the crappiest post office in the nation. The post master never comes out when you ask for her, she never returns phone calls when you leave her messages. I have left over 25 messages for the post master to no return phone calls. I have also gone into this post office over 30 times asking to speak to the post master they say she is always in a meeting. DO YOU REALLY THINK CONSUMERS ARE THAT STUPID TO BELIEVE YOUR LIES? They have the dirtiest facility. Carrier damaged my residential property and was a smart mouth, supervisor came out also a smart mouth but took a photo and said carrier denies doing it so there will be a investigation only problem is I saw her do it with my own two eyes. 1 week and no communication and it's not that we didn't try but they refuse to communicate. This post office location is fantastic. I used to live in the city and THATS where you run into trouble. I've always had speedy, friendly service at this location. I've barely waited when getting my passport, and the staff has always been so helpful. I once needed to pick up a package requiring delivery confirmation and though they couldn't find it right away, they took the time to look and were very friendly in finding it. There is usually a line but it really moves quite quickly. I've not waited more than 15 minutes. There's plenty of parking and lots of supplies for your shipping needs, all very reasonably priced. The staff at this location are really fantastic. I moved to Palatine three years ago and this has been my go-to post office and it's really been excellent. No complaints! read more

This is the 4th time I've come to the Palatine location the woman working today rolls her eyes at you doesn't say hello ask you how you are puts her hand out waiting for whatever it is you have to send out and sighs loudly constantly like you are irritating every fiber of her being. I really want to give more stars because the people here are so much nicer than the ones in the city. But I don't ship packages just because I want to talk to nicer people, I ship packages because I want them to get to their destination. I mailed expensive shoes to a friend in France for his birthday in late April and he never received them. I brought in my receipt and USPS claims that "there is nothing they can do to track the package .. and says that I should have paid more for a tracking service." Now it very well may be the case that customs has been holding this item in France for the last 6.5 months, or maybe I am just naive at my young age of 28 of what to expect from USPS. I remember a "golden age" of shipping where things were guaranteed to arrive when you paid for the service. Knowing that your package will actually arrive is not something you should have to pay EXTRA for. So my question is . . . for the packages that are shipped without tracking, what is stopping somebody along the way (between the several shipping centers the package stops at before going overseas) from picking it out of the pile and selling it on Ebay? And did anyone besides me notice that there are no prices on their mail displays above the registers? I think this is because their rates go up so frequently and so quickly that they were tired of having to get the ladder out and change it. Also they want to avoid attracting attention to the rate hikes. Anyway, a refund was never offered and I will not be going back. Especially when there are so many shipping alternatives so close. read more

I have had to go into the office on a number of occasions to find out where my items are. They nearly Never leave a slip if they delivered something and I wasnt there so I never know unless I'm watching the tracking number. Even if I do watch the tracking # a lot of times it'll say it went out for delivery but then stops and I do not get my package and have to track it down myself, no slip no update on tracking.. nothing.. Ridiculous! If you go In the office the employees are always rude and slow. It's very clear they hate their job and don't want to be there and could care less what happens to your things. I have only had One good experience and even that was still half bad because I had to track down my own package again..but the man in the office who helped me was kind and considerate and although they somehow had a lot of trouble Finding my package at their facility... he did keep looking until he found it. I appreciated that though it shouldn't have been so difficult and i shouldn't have had to track it down on my own like I always seem to have to do when it goes to this office. I am at this post office on average 6 times a week. I have never had a what I would call "GOOD" experience here except when I use the automated teller machines- which they have three of - one only after hours. The ladies working are rude not very friendly and never go out of their way to help you. It can get pretty busy there and they have never tried to make sending a package/ picking up mail or anything else very easy. I like the automated tellers because you can see the price along with the option you are selecting, the workers never offer prices when they give you options. Oh and when I was getting married, they advertised as having the wedding cake stamps, however when I went to purchase them they did not have them and said they haven't for a while. They sent me over to Lake Zurich or Arlington Heights. read more

I absolutely, positively HATE going to this location! No matter what day of the week or time of day I go, there is ALWAYS a long line. Having a mobility impairment makes standing in line for 10-20 minutes painful for me. I think they are trying to go teller free by putting in more kiosk's but the kiosk's don't allow you to do all of the different mailing options, such as media mail.
