SO BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!! I came with my 2 minors (3 weeks old and 4 years old) for my scheduled in advance appointment at 9:00. I've been in the office at 8:40 am and waited until my time. Employee (Shanice) took another customer for passport WITHOUT APPOINTMENT. At 9:00 I asked that I need to be served as it is my time already and she asked to wait. Wait for what!?? I called to customer service and they told me there are 2 days walking in the week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and today is THURSDAY!!!! I should have read all negative reviews before to make an appointment in this location! Poor, not professional and UNFAIR experience! read more

It's hard, impossible, actually, to imagine a more incompetent conglomeration than FedEx and the USPS when assessment of service efficacy is the topic and the net sum of both of these hapless organizations rarely fail to underwhelm. Either one of these utterly useless entities, on its own, can almost guarantee a horrifically sideways transaction, but the sum total of both parts involved virtually ensures, if not a tragic outcome, than at least one sure to have gone sideways. Having dropped an express FedEx envelope at the Buffalo Grove Post office for shipment on July 15, 2025, more than two weeks later FedEx has no record of package/envelope receipt, and because the parcel contained time sensitive media, shipped to Los Angeles and requiring arrival by July 28, 2025 as a pre-condiition to an ensuing and promised refund, I am out over $350.00 due, again, to abject incompetence. Having thrice called both FedEx and the Buffalo Grove post office, each of the six encounters with the ensuing miscreants resulted in no solution whatsoever. Thankfully J.P. Morgan Chase's team of adroit customer service employees and its commitment to quality saved the day and refunded my expended, vaporized, funds in short order and with one phone call and a follow up response to an essentially boilerplate email. One wonders, however, why it should come to this, save the complete and utter incompetence and careless attitude on full display, daily, by the aforementioned, equally haplass, organizations named above. Is it any wonder that Amazon is destroying bricks and mortar entities engaging in e-commerce that entrust their products, and propensity for repeat customer patronage, to the likes of these utterly incompetent trainwrecks? Jeff Bezos deserves every red penny he acquires if the adjunct/dependent variable allows me to never again have to patronize, more less think about, either FedEx and/or the USPS any time soon, if ever again. read more

I've never had a problem here.... but ..... EH. It's always busy. There's always a line. And the employees are never friendly. The Post Office has such a bad reputation for employees being miserable, you'd think they'd be trying to change that! But nope. This is the closest Post Office to my house, so I go here the most often. The line here is often outrageous and they are hardcore about locking the door right when they close. Staff is not always educated about their job. They can be rude and are often very slow when working with customers. The lobby is open 24 hours, but mail is never picked up before 1pm, so that kind of defeats the purpose. Also, one of the machines is often broken and when you tell the staff they seem indifferent and do not seem to do anything about it. read more

I was trying to send a package a few weeks before Christmas and decided to go to this location because of the longer hours and being one of the closest locations to me. I've sent out packages at other post office locations before and was expecting this to be another routine drop off. The experience was not the greatest. Of all the local post offices, the traffic flow and parking here seems to be the most difficult. As the flow of traffic is pretty much one way, if a car decides to be slow in getting in or out, it stops all traffic as it's a bit challenging to pass someone in the lot (but they do have the space to widen the road, so I'm not sure why they don't do that). Inside the post office, there was quite a bit of a line that was confusing to follow, the room is very small and it's not obvious how the line should be formed inside. This plus the working area to fillout forms and the self-service areas seemed to almost overlap with each other. Once I sat through the slow moving line, I was told that the box wasn't sufficiently wrapped, although it was one of the industrial office boxes, sealed several times over first with gorilla tape then packaging tape (I read the Yelp reviews about aggressively trying to sell the 3.49 tape). After being removed from the line, a line forming outside of the door had occurred so I left without being able to send my package. I later went to the Vernon Hills post office which also opens till 3:00 on a Saturday. There, it was easy to park, there was no line, and they gladly processed my package with a smile and helpful service. read more

I try to avoid this post office as much as possible. If I need to go to the post office I drive the extra 15 minutes to Wheeling. There is always only one person at the front desk. The line to be helped is always all the way out the door. They do have one self service machine out in the lobby, but you can only send things priority mail on it. When I tried using it because the inside was closed, I paid 14 dollars to mail a large envelope. This place is ridiculous. read more

This place is huge!!! There are few lines and the wait is minimal! They are open until 7 which is amazing! And their mail room is open 24 hours!! The best thing about this place are the nicest employees! They smiled, were friendly and so helpful!! I am so thankful this place is open because its so hard to find a post office that's open when you are out of work and need to overnight a package!! Ample parking outside that's free! Tried a delivery of certified mail but this post office misfiled its return and it never got to me. After arguing for 10 minutes, their phone representative finally took time to have a look and they DID find my missing package they denied having. If you're wondering why the post office is in a free fall for doomed businesses spend 10 minutes trying to deal with them. Or in my case four hours. Curious to know what the seventh circle of hell is like? Try getting a problem fixed. It's a legit episode of "who's on first??" I'm sure everyone has seen the video of Mariah Carey doing the bare minimum... this place takes that motto to a whole other level. Address 1500 feet away from your jurisdiction? Did you bother to use the phone number listed on the delivery ? Nope. We're just gonna take 24 hours to update where your package is and then tell you it was undeliverable and is now in the abyss of being RETURNED TO SENDER. Why you ask? New construction. It's literally on the border between two cities. Buffalo Grove goes to 1099 and this address is 1199. Did the post person do anything technically wrong.... probably not technically. Did they bother to do a single thing about it? NOPE. The "it's not my job" mentality reigns supreme here at the usps. Next time I'll pay quadruple for shipping to make sure things get handled correctly and if there's an issue they'll use that crazy technology called a telephone. There's at least 3 different scenarios that would have been 1000000000 percent better. Gone the 1500 feet delivered it. Would be my first thought but whatever. Held the package at the buffalo grove post office for 24 hours. (12 hours, 6 hours, something) Notified the sender of an issue. Updated the system that tracks the package with the issue so that the sender could actually know about the problem and find a solution. Hope y'all enjoy unemployment cause this is a guarantee to get people to use ANY another method of shipping. read more

Where's the zero star button? Not that reviews matter for them or that they read them. But this branch is just one big steaming pile of...garbage. The service is on par with going to the sledge hammer factory for full contact testing with ones crotch. This is one of the few post offices which is open until 7pm. Which makes it pretty convenient for people who work a day job. Unfortunately as you enter and begin to wait in line which is usually already a dozen or so people at that time...workers begin to peel off faster than a banana peel to do other tasks. Of course the self-service terminal is something they love to point to...but last time I checked I was paying them to mail my package which will already arrive whenever they decide it will if they're not too busy. I would wish upon everyone that works there a failure of their transmission during a Chicago 5pm rush hour...but they already operate as if that's happened. First the good stuff - this is a nice facility in a convenient location. And by "nice facility" I am referring to the building itself - not the interior. Now for the rest. The 24 hour lobby area is often in some state of repair. The stamp machines are often out of order or out of stamps. You can almost always expect to wait at this post office. Sure, it can depend on what the intricacies of the customer transactions are, but when you visit the place several times and there's always a line that moves slowly at best - well it's more than just what the customers needs are. The Glenview post office is just as busy, probably busier, but the line usually moves. As for the staff, the adjective that comes to mind is bland. Or maybe indifferent. Why all the hate mail? (Ha ha, get it? I'm so punny.) Anyway, this place is pretty nice and the staff know what they're doing. It's way better than the DMV in terms of government workers. Usually it's pretty dead when I come to send mail/buy boxes, but I have gone during the week of Christmas to send things, and the wait isn't too bad. Everyone has presents to give, cards to send, etc. Why hate on something that is out of their control? They do their best to accomodate every customer's needs. The staff are only human and the customers can be stupid (I'm judging you, Ms. "What do you mean I can't ship wine? It's the holidays!! Ridiculous!"). The place itself is nice, brightly lit, and clean. What more do you want? They're also cheaper than UPS and Fedex and have a lot of options such as flat rate shipping, decorated packaging, and stamps. You can also pay a few extra cents to get tracked shipping. Anyway, I've had good experiences in general. One time, I remember trying to get an express package shipped for my mom and they were off by two days. They ended up giving me a refund for the express shipping! Otherwise, sometimes when I need to send packed letters, they'll kindly tell me it's too big and needs a second stamp then offer me some cute options. They're pretty friendly people if you treat them nicely. read more

A contract mailed from a photographer I am hiring, who lives in BG, mailed to my home in BG, just arrived at my home today, 9/24/11. t was postmarked 9/13/11. I realize it get processed in Carol Stream then gets sent back out, but really...11 days? Where'd it go? Is the delay due to BG or Carol Stream? Tell me. And you wonder why the post office is doing so poorly? I've got about 80 invitations to send out...sure hope they get where they're going before the event. And I agree with Samantha L. Really bad. I went here to buy special stamps for the party. There was one person ahead of me, 2 at the counter. No one else behind me. I waited ten minutes to get taken care of and then the line was out the door. (And they did not have the Celebrate! stamps. I was told all the post offices have the same stamps, nothing else, no we cant get them. My choices were Helen Keller or Ronnie Reagan, pine cones or latin music legends, perfect for a bat mitzvah stamp, right?) 8-1-14 In today's mail, a payment that had been previously mailed and was due today was received in my home mail box. Since I put this bill payment in the Buffalo Grove mail box, only the USPS and I had anything to do with this mail. The mailing address label that had the P O Box and City, State and Zip Code, had been torn off by the USPS mail processing equipment. Beginning at 3:30 and waiting 20 min for Supervisor Leticia Smith the USPS employees finally figured out this Supervisor was not even in the building. Then I had to wait several min more until she finally returned. Supervisor Smith looked me in the eye and told me the The USPS was not responsible for the destroyed mailing label. She knew that - how in the world could she know that?? When someone looks me in the eye and lies to me, I call them a pathological liar! The next Post Office I went to was friendly, kind and helpful. At no point in time did any employee at this second US Post Office try to lie to me and tell me in no uncertain terms that - the USPS was not responsible for the destroyed mailing label. read more

Okay, so I can not say that I hate all post offices because I usually do because the lines are usually super long, the people are never friendly and I somehow always come at the wrong time when I have to wait extra long just to get something going. I have to say that I love the concept of coming with a pre-posted package so that all I have to do is drop it off in the drop off box or with an associate. Now that is a good experience here, because I'm in and out, and it's done. Now, when I need their assistance I'm not the biggest fan because some of the associates aren't overly friendly, they really need to learn how to smile, where a few of them are on the nicer side. The line doesn't always move super fast so if you're in a rush try not to come on a Monday or during the morning and evening rush hours even though I've come here at 2pm in the afternoon one time, and I still had to wait a good 15 minutes before I was seen. Thankfully, they've never lost the packages that I had going out so I can say that they are responsible in that matter. Also, the place is pretty big so that while waiting in line there is some breathing room from the person in front and back of you. Please beware, and do not come during the holiday times since you will be waiting forever and everyone is sick during that time coughing and sneezing all over the place. If you're kind of a germaphobe like me, that doesn't call for such a pleasant experience. However, they have a nice parking lot so at least that's easy and you don't have to wait for cars to leave before getting a spot no matter how busy it has been. And if you're extra annoyed when leaving here, you can always stop by Deerfields bakery right next door and get yourself something sweet after a maybe not so sweet experience. Why I come here? Because it's convenient so I don't really have a choice. read more

My mom sent a package with some of my boy's cloths and some toys and stuff like that to me. She had the tracking notification on her side that the delivery attempt was failed and has returned back to post office. First of all, I was expecting the package and I was home ALL DAY LONG waiting for that package. Instead when I check the mail I had a wrong guy's mail in my mail box. Ok, so I went to post office the next day, and asking if I could get my package. The lady named' LULU' was like 'I need the delivery ticket'. Ok, I told her they never left one because I am pretty sure that the delivery person miss delivered to wrong house, since I was home all day and my mom got the message that the delivery was failed because nobody was home. I was trying to explain the situation but she wouldn't listen, she kept saying 'SIR!, I can't do anything without the ticket.' So I asked her nicely, if you could please check the package if you have it. I had my driver liscense ready. She told me there was NOTHING in the back. she told me to go get the ticket. She didn't get my point, I don't have the ticket since you guys delivered to wrong house!!. Ok so I called my mom, who lives in overseas, and it was like 4 am there. I had to wake her up to get the delivery tracking number. So I finally got the number after calling her and waking her up in the middle of the night. I was waiting in the line with the tracking number. As I was waiting there was another person who was helping customers for pick ups. I raised my hand for pick up and he took me to window. He told me to see an id and he brought out the 'Package'. He didn't need the tracking number whatsoever. I was ready to punch her in the face but then there were too many people. So on the way out of the office I waved her, 'Hello? I thought you didn't have the package. What is this ? the one i'm carrying? Thank you for much for nice customer service!!" I cannot stand people like this, who gets payed without doing their job done. She even gave me attitude while i was asking nicely, she kept saying 'SIR?! Okay, its the neighborhood US Postal Service Post Office, and it works. Except for the minefield that serves as the drive past the drop boxes, things here are generally just fine. The staff can be cranky or great, depending on the day and person, but when Aunt Zoe drops in and wants to send a package to Tel Aviv and needs help wrapping it first, it makes things seem worse than they are normally. Wow, after reading all the negative reviews I was thinking just typical government work environment where no one cares about their job. But now, after my experience today, not only do they not care about their jobs, they are completely and totally inept. I have not been getting any mail for about 5-6 days now so I called them to ask what was going on. They called back and said my mail was on "hold" per my request. I never requested a "hold" be put on my mail!!! My wife was nearby the post office so stopped in to take our mail off hold and pick up any mail that they had. They told her our mail was not on hold and that it was out for delivery!!! Can you believe these morons????? The building is huge compared to most Post Offices I have been to in the area. It feels like a train station a little. I like that this location is open until 7pm, but I'm guessing that the employees don't. One clerk seemed very careless and threw my packages behind her into the bin like she was throwing away garbage... The second time I came here, one of the clerks recognized me from my first visit not long before and seemed friendly and smiled and talked a little. That lightened my impression of this place a bit. I do think that they could have more Ready Post boxes, considering it's such a large location. I had to run to Walmart and find a cheap box that would fit my 8" x 6" x 2" item. (The flat rate box would have cost me at least $4 more to ship if I used it). I think Prospect Heights PO is the place to go if you want to buy a box and pack your item on location. read more
