This is the Post Office building with the most aura I've ever been to, lol. The original building was designed in 1913, and a respectful addition, was built in 1938, and it shows. There are beautiful lighted stained glass ceiling tiles. The clerk that took care of me (Emilio? Edgar? Eduardo?) was incredibly friendly, polite, efficient and fast. A most beautiful Post Office in Pasadena... I needed to mail a document and purchase some international postage stamps... I decided to go to this Historical Building and see something different... Located on the corner of Garfield Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, the Post Office has metered street parking on the Garfield Avenue side. The 30-minute limited parking spaces are indicated with a green curb. Payment is accepted at the kiosk. The elegant interior of this Post Office is majestic! Check out the high ceilings with vintage chandeliers, the awesome stained glass, the embossed walls and arches, the marbled floor, the antique furniture, etc... wow... it was like stepping back in time! I found the fancy drop slot for my envelope and proceeded to the counter. There was no line - so the pleasant employee was calm and relaxed. She processed my payment for international postage stamps efficiently, and I was on my way. I'm so glad that I visited this US Post Office. The environment was unique and enlightening! read more

Came here at 8:55 AM this morning to simply deliver a Priority Mail to Texas. BEYOND AWFUL I DID NOT GET TRACKING AND IT IS ALREADY END OF DAY AND I WILL COMPLAIN TO SUPERVISOR HERE DUE TO HORRIFIC SERVICE! Post Office worker gave me the envelope but I asked for tape and she said "normally I am supposed to tape but she will do this one time." Pretty rude Asian woman considering I normally package things myself but now thanks to Covid they don't have any tape for sale. She said: "I will tape it up for you this one time." I checked online and my package has not even shown ANY tracking and usually it is scanned and already in progress. She probably lost my valuable item..... Long story short, she NEVER GAVE ME A RECEIPT for tracking and when I checked tracking on Poshmark, it doesn't even show it has been scanned?!? THE ENTIRE DAY AND SHE DID NOT EVEN PROCESS IT WHICH MEANS SHE COULD HABE STOLEN MY PACKAGE....Embezzlement on my $200 sweater that I sold..... What is wrong with this post office worker? I came in here to drop off a package as I was on my way back home from Pasadena. The first thing I noticed is how big this building is, compared to other post office locations. Clearly, this building is historic in the downtown Pasadena area. I parked in their small lot at the side of the building and walked up the ramp to the side door. Once inside, I noticed that this place looks somewhat similar to a train station. It is pretty big, and the decor here has probably been consistent in the past century. The workers there were ok, but openly challenged me about my package. They asked me if my package was really media mail, to which I said yes. They told me that all packages are subject to inspection, with which I had no problem. I would have a problem if the package didn't get to the destination, as this was a good eBay sell. I usually avoid writing reviews for post offices, but this may be the only exception. Located across from the Paseo Colorado, it is still walking distance to/from Old Town. The architecture is absolutely beautiful -- exterior and, even more so, the interior. If I have to make a stop at the post office, I try to do it around 8:45 am, even though service does not start until 9. Lines start getting long closer to 9. I have been here several times, and, perhaps, I am lucky to have had the same person almost every time help me with whatever I needed. It does not take long for me to get whatever I need. I dont know if I have ever written a review about a US Post Office before, this one is terrible. There is usually one window open and the line is long. The lady working there is usually fairly nice which is why I am giving them 2 star instead of 1. But Ive had issues with mail at this location. I dropped off mail previously to send out and they lost it. And recently I dropped off a return to Old Navy about a week ago and still no tracking information. Its just so slow. I feel bad for giving a bad review because the USPS really needs our love right now but its hard to recommend this location. read more

As w most post offices, def a love/hate relationship. This location is only cool cause of the architecture but you still have the usual long, slow lines.. particularly lunch time on a Monday. If possible, best time is prob right before they close at 5. Pretty convenient cause it's right on colorado and there's paid parking right on the side street but it's only up to 30 minutes so it won't last you if the line is more than 5-6 people. read more

Lines are long all the time, with one window open. I would come here during lunch and it's busy. Yes, I know. Everyone comes here during lunch, but then I got smart and came at 10 am, line was 7 people deep! Then i cam at 2, another 10 people. It's high traffic. Doesn't bother me that much though. There was a guy who used to work there, Rick. He's no longer at the window. Where'd he go? He was always nice. He's Chinese and has an accent that may come off as rude, but he isn't, he's very nice. Beautiful 1920s Beaux Arts style post office in downtown Pasadena with plenty of service windows and efficient staff. What a gorgeous gem -- reminds me of when going to the post office downtown with my Nee-Nee was a treat! The lobby was well stocked with supplies, cards, and forms. Updating to give an additional star because they replaced the woman I complained about with a woman that's very good at her job and is nice.

Horrible experience! I sent out small cards to family and friends and all but one was returned. They all had the exact same contents and I weighed them at work thru our mail room department. I got a call from one family member who received her card. I sent them out February 9th and on February 22 (I live one mile from this post office they were all returned!). Some were even damaged. I went back to work and measured each one and all 6oz. So I went back and the Asian lady told me I needed 3 more dollars for each card? Are you kidding me they are small valentine cards. I said I would be happy to add an additional stamp but but she said no even after it fit in the larger opening according to their own requirements and she then said it was considered a parcel! Insane! No wonder they are slow in business I will never use the usps again. read more

if I could give this place -5 starts, I would! We have lockers in my building and they just can't freaking figure them out! The lockers are either broken, or I can't get my stuff because the mail delivery person forgot to leave a key. Or they left the key, but the package is wide isn't mine and the key to mine is locked away in somebody else's mail box. I don't usually write reviews for post offices... I've been here approximately 3 times. The 2 times I've been here were wonderful. There was a nice lady there who was very helpful and provided great customer service. She even gave me options to things I wasn't even asking for! Awesome! Parking sucks, but I didn't care since the building was beautiful and I didn't even come here that often. Then on my 3rd time here, I had the worst customer service experience I've EVER had. Like, EVER. The lines were at a snail's pace--that was typical. Only one window open--again, typical. And then I approach the window with my package and hand it to the worker (some middle-aged Asian guy). He asks me for some form and I didn't hear what he said so I asked him "what?". He immediately snaps at me and says "don't speak to me like that" and proceeds to repeat that I was completely rude to him. I was taken aback since it wasn't my intention to be rude. I tried to explain to him that I wasn't trying to be rude but that I just couldn't hear what he said. He said again I was very rude and did not try at all to understand where I was coming from. I took my package, told him I didn't have time for this, and he said I was rude again and told me to "get out!" NOPE. I'm done. read more

In a time where we think nothing of tearing down old buildings and replacing them with new modern structures, it is so nice to live in a city that preserves the old architecture. The Post Office building on Colorado is a great example of this. Built somewhere around 1915, this is a majestic and beautiful building. And while you may have to step around or over the homeless people who congregate on the gorgeous concrete steps in front, it is well worth the climb to go in and take a look around. It is like stepping back in time. Now for the modern part of my review...the service. I find myself here at least once a week...yes, I know, I still use snail mail...don't hate. The postal employees are anywhere from sweet and helpful to robotic and surly, really your typical post office mix. It is busy at the usual busy times, opening, lunchtime, and just prior to closing. Even if you don't use snail mail it is well worth a trip to the post office just to take a look at the magnificent architecture and to remember that this is where people had to go before the internet. read more

You know... it's not the people in the post office that are horrible, it's the long lines. The people at the post office have been so nice to me over the years that I've been there. From my mistakes on addresses (twice, thanks to my friend Robert Walker... yeah, I'm calling you out on Yelp, buddy. - nicest guy ever tho, so basically a shout out). to clueless on what stamps I'd like to buy, the post office workers have been SO kind to me. Even with the disgruntled guests, this workers still are able to be helpful and nice. The only problem are the lines... but it comes with the location being convenient. I arrive at the post office 1hr before closing (its 2pm now) only to be turned away. Apparently the 4 customers in line before my arrive will take the USPS staff an hour to finish up. The staff of course was kind enough to direct me to another post office 2 miles away which also closes at 3pm. To bad I'm already here with my package and money. Guess I'll be using FedEx or UPS from now on. This is why the USPS is a dead out of date model that won't work in modern 21st century times. What customer service? Older woman at the front counter repeatedly yelled, "WE'RE CLOSED!" at 5 minutes till 5PM. Mind you, this was yelled over my head at other people while helping me. When I asked a question about my package (the one I just paid for) her response was,"WE'RE CLOSED!" You are open till 5 or until the last customer has left the building. Maybe block the line at 5 PM? Or get a job where you are guaranteed to get off on time? Or get some basic human manners? I get it, people rush in at the last minute, but there has to be a better way to handle it than assuming everyone is an a-hole and treating them that way. Print your postage at home folks and eliminate the middle man. Ugggggggh. :/ Furthermore, my next day package got there 3 days later. NEVER AGAIN. read more

If i could rate it zero stars I would. This experience has been a total nightmare. It's been more than two weeks and this post office hasn't called me about what's going on with my packages. I should've listened to the reviews. I suggest you stay away from this US post office. They lost my packages and haven't responded at all. Terrible service! They haven't even bothered to call me or at least send me an email explaining what happened or what's going on. I'm just upset. That one star is because it's pretty. The parking situation is terrible-you'll never find it in their lot, so you're stuck paying the ticket machine on Garfield. One window open; one single, solitary, slower than molasses person working there. No stamp machine, no expedited machine like in the Lincoln office, and most of it is taped off like a crime scene. I waited over 20 minutes, and couldn't wait anymore, so I left. At least I was serenaded by 2 homeless people wandering around inside with their suitcases. I would love to come here again if the service matched the beauty, but yeah, I'll stick to any other office that I don't have to pay to park then pay to mail my certified letter! read more

When I brought a small flat package to mail, I told the guy at the counter that I wanted it first class. He said okay and proceeded to charge me $7. I said that first class shouldn't be that expensive to anywhere and asked why. He said that First Class is up to 13 oz, and that my package was .1 oz too heavy, so it converted to Priority. I told him that I had asked whether it qualified for First Class, not Priority, but he said that First-Class turns into Priority, so it's still technically First Class. Uh...no it's not. The prices are a lot more expensive for Priority, and the delivery times are a bit faster. I then asked if there was a cheaper way, especially since I was mailing DVDs. He said I could use the flat-rate Priority Box for $5.20. But since I had already packed them up real nicely in a padded envelope, I didn't want to rip it all apart and put it in a new box to save $1.80. Then I got home and told a friend, and she said, why didn't you send it by Media Mail or Parcel? I told her that the post office guy never even gave me those options even though I had told him that I was sending DVDs. I've always just sent things First-Class in the past with no hassle because all the stuff I've sent has always fallen beneath the First Class/Priority cutoff. It's annoying that they try and steer you to the most expensive solutions even though there are cheaper ones out there, which they try and hide. It's like a secret menu at a restaurant. Beautiful, historic building, but DO NOT come here if you expect to get in and out. They usually only have one window open, and no self-service kiosk. If you have a pre-paid package, there is no drop-off point. Either wait in line, or be that jerk that steps to the front and interrupts another customer. read more
