First time going to the post office in Phelan. I was a little nervous reading Yelp reviews and seeing a lot of people go in. However, the line moved pretty fast. Most of the people seemed to be picking up packages. I had a document to mail. I probably could have bought stamps and not need customer service, but I wasn't sure how many I needed. Terrible service all the way around!!!!!!! If they aren't loosing packages, they're to lazy to actually put our packages in the mailbox instead leaving a slip. It happens almost every time we are looking to receive a package. I've had a few packages lost and never found. The largest mess up on their part was giving my package to someone else while I had the slip still. Isn't their protocol to scan a package, check ID and take the slip from you ? Well they clearly don't always do their jobs correctly and someone else got what I paid for. Lori was rude to me when I questioned her on how it could've happened. This post office is a hot mess and they are slow as heck. I wish people wouldn't work for the public just to have attitudes and feel like they are on top of the world. It is sad when the carrier puts mail in the wrong rural boxes repeatedly. We received our property tax bill, which resembles a rax refund, opened, stapled shut, and "wrong address" written on it. No, it wasn't the wrong address, the wrong box. To top it off on the very same day, we received a pick-up slip dated 15 days ago, went to pick item up, and it had been picked up!!! The staff here is pretty awesome. Everyone in this office is great to work with to pick up packages. Great service all around. I am a little bothered by the doors being chained shut. I have not been able to get my mail because of this combined with my work schedule. It has been. Over two months since I have been able to get my mail. Poor and rude customer service once you finally make it to the counter. They have a horrible practice of scanning packages showing them as available for pickup or delivered when you look up the tracking number on the USPS Website. When you get there it's common to get the 'packages have not been sorted yet' and gives the customer attitude likes its their fault for following the website's information given. read more

I like the employees but the post office in general is a scam. I pay money for a PO BOX for the very purpose to have my mail and packages held for me at the post office. I have been having issues with certain UPS packages from Amazon being refused. Well I finally found out why. Its not UPS it's the fricken post office. Regardless of the fact that I pay them money to hold my packages and mail, if they are not making a part of the shipping costs from the sender they will refuse the package. I spoke to a local UPS driver and was informed of the truth. Rather then the post office hiding this and saying they do not know why packages get returned to sender. I have had several packages marked as delivered to my (locked) box. Upon opening it with provided key there was no package. Because the postal service shows the item was in fact delivered I am unable to recover the loss from the seller. Despite the USPS admitting it is a known problem that others have been complaining about, they also did not cover the value of my item. I placed many calls and almost all the staff were unhelpful, with contradicting information. I give two stars because at least one employee was straight-forward about what's happening and tried to be helpful -- albeit they didn't actually solve anything for me. I wasted countless hours between the postal service and eBay until I reached the point that my $140 loss just wasn't worth it. Somehow I even managed to get suspended from eBay because they thought I was trying to scam the seller by pleading with them to contact the post office and make an insurance claim and refund my money. Truly, the days of "the customer is always right" have become "the customer is always wrong"... ahh -- I digress. On the upside, one of my Amazon purchases was looted as well, after the "locks were changed" (makes one wonder if it's the mail delivery person themselves?) -- and unlike eBay Amazon just sent me my item again, no questions asked, no hassle. read more

This post office "looses" mail all the time. Of course, its always packages or greeting cards that appear thicker than usual. This has been happening here for years in my experience and I am sick of it! A few times when I had tracking numbers they would come back and tell me the package had been put in the wrong box. They just cant seem to get it together. Furthermore, on a Saturday not too long ago they told my mother they were too busy and could not go to the back to get her package and that they would only be putting out ones that fit into boxes that day. This post office goes above and beyond for me every day. I run a business from home and wouldn't be able to have the seamless days of shipping without these lovely folks. :-) They always go out of their way for me and are very sweet. I actually have had wonderful help and service consistently for a few years now from all of the employees here. I think that in general people all reflect what you show to them first so if you go into any situation with a bad attitude, you're likely to get it back. I always am nice and polite and they are always genuinely nice and polite back. Another huge plus is that I've never had an incoming package missing items and I get several large shipments each week.
