Only 1 person is working. A lot of suppliers are gone and it seems no one cares. People wait in line for one person while he is on his cellphone talking to someone else during office hour for a long long time. Also, no passport application. The mailbox outside the door is also bolted down without knowing why. I talked to my postman here and he said that they all got to sent to Venice from the management. Thus, there is only one person in the post office serving people. I was planning to send a priority mail and they only had different bags available. She told me to cover it up and bring it back instead of giving me the right bag to wrap it. Well, she took care of me in 3 seconds so she could serve the next one, I guess. I am not saying they are bad. All the people behind the counter at USPS are pretty friendly and nice actually, it is simply the management issue, I think. Even the postman shakes his head saying he does not understand why the management wants everyone to support Venice and keeps only one inside that branch. Yes, they do have the mentality of government employees, but actually not too bad. Occasionally, I do see young employees unfamiliar with the services and they get help from senior coworkers right away. I also sometimes see employees on they phone texting back and forth with friends or families while serving you with their focus on the phone. I have also seen so-called managers avoid any responsibilities by wanting you to call or go online and then, you probably will never get any reply or meaningless replies like I have received. I don't think it would be like this if Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos ran USPS. Before then, we just have to endure this, I guess.

Still a horrible place. One of the employees had a very condescending attitude and couldn't care less.

Do they allow walk ins to apply for a passport or do you need to have an appointment?

They don't accept walk ins. Just with appointments. LAX station accepts walk in

Is the counter open on Saturday or is there a machine and drop box for packages? The one on Wilshire is closed for any counter business, and has no drop box.

They are open on Saturdays but till 3 pm only. Access to PO boxes and drop off box are open till 5 pm

Gather and bring both original documents/proof of citizenship, certificate of naturalization or expired or valid US passport and photo copies to your appointment plus photo ID that is recent and looks like you. So that's what I did, sorta. Appointment window was 15-minutes. Terminally early, USPS associate was kind and advised me to wait offline until she cleared the queue behind me. Not even 5-minutes, while initial associate was nearly through the line, another associate called me to her station and began the process. I had made copies of required documents but forgot to bring them (that's the aforementioned sorta). She did at a charge of $1 per but ended up not charging me. Thank you! I needed a new photo ($15 charge). She said I could smile but the camera hates me so it's a mug shot of an unhappy, ugly old woman (As she directed, I did lift my chin, all of them. But to no avail.). You get sent home with an extra to save the memory of the day or to share with your friends like on picture day in elementary school. Bring a personal, cashier's or traveler's check or buy a money order at USPS to pay the U.S. Department of State. Currently $130.00. In addition to my photo op fee, there was a $50 processing fee. Both can be paid via check, credit or debit card. USPS prefers the credit or debit option. Since I'm not going anywhere in the near future, most likely ever, I opted for 4-6 week passport delivery. Along with payment receipts, USPS associate provided an email address, transaction number to track my passport's progress but advised to let the weekend pass prior to checking in. Also, advised that for security reasons, original documents would be returned to me separately from new passport. During that wait time without initiating tracking, I received progress updates. Well within, actually earlier than expected, I received my passport. Recently received USPS notice that documents have been Priority mailed. Await their return. Customer care I received was five star and then some. Yelpers, please give this place some love! Ample parking adjacent to this USPS location but it fills up fast. I parked at a meter on Santa Monica Boulevard.

We arrived fully prepared with all original documents (Social Security card and birth certificate) for what should have been a straightforward and positive experience. According to your website, this location provides passport photo services, so we did not bring photos. There was even a photo backdrop visible on site. When we asked if photocopies of our documents could be made, Alexis responded by rolling her eyes and answering with visible disgust. From that point forward, her attitude escalated into openly rude and hostile behavior. When we asked about passport photos, she dismissively told us to "go across the street" without providing a business name or clear direction. When my husband asked for clarification, she responded with more attitude, saying, "that's why I'm giving you this paper," instead of simply answering the question. When we asked if we could return after getting the photo and still be accommodated, she responded in a condescending manner, as if we had asked something unreasonable. Her tone throughout the interaction was disrespectful and unnecessary. After we voiced concerns about her behavior, she then asked for my ID in a confrontational tone--"do you want to give me your ID?"--as if I had refused to provide it, even though it had not been requested from me earlier. It felt as though she was shifting blame onto us rather than properly guiding the process. She then went to the back after having heard us address her attitude to her coworkers and to her directly. When she returned literally 20 minutes later, she was overly cheerful with the customer behind us and made a loud, sarcastic comment to the next customers--"thank you for reading the application directions"--clearly within earshot of us and in a tone that was obviously meant as a jab. Other employees present were polite and even acknowledged that this behavior is typical for her. I requested to speak with a manager and waited approximately 15 minutes, but the manager refused to come out, claiming to be in a meeting. I was given a name and a general phone line, which either went unanswered or was picked up and immediately disconnected. This entire experience was unacceptable--especially for a scheduled appointment involving an infant. This should have been a simple and positive process, not one involving hostility, sarcasm, and lack of basic professionalism. Employees representing the United States Postal Service should be held to a higher standard of conduct, particularly in customer-facing roles. After leaving, I read all of the one star google reviews specifically talking about this same person. How does someone like this have a job, let alone for the government????

As a petite woman who's 5'2", this was a bit of a challenge, and I didn't even pull all the way into the teeny, tiny parking space because I didn't want to scrape the car on my left or the concrete pole on the right that I was wedged between. I raced to the doors right as they were about to lock them and caught my breath. One more guy made it behind me. The line was long and going all the way out into the lobby, and even though there were only 2 postal clerks behind the counter, the line was moving fast. The clerk who helped me was a friendly lady whose name I don't recall. She may have been wearing a name tag, but I forgot to check. She asked for my tracking number and ID, then went back to retrieve my package. She came out a moment later, I signed for it, then bid everyone goodnight and happy holidays.
