Only 1 person is working. A lot of suppliers are gone and it seems no one cares. People wait in line for one person while he is on his cellphone talking to someone else during office hour for a long long time. Also, no passport application. The mailbox outside the door is also bolted down without knowing why. I talked to my postman here and he said that they all got to sent to Venice from the management. Thus, there is only one person in the post office serving people. I was planning to send a priority mail and they only had different bags available. She told me to cover it up and bring it back instead of giving me the right bag to wrap it. Well, she took care of me in 3 seconds so she could serve the next one, I guess. I am not saying they are bad. All the people behind the counter at USPS are pretty friendly and nice actually, it is simply the management issue, I think. Even the postman shakes his head saying he does not understand why the management wants everyone to support Venice and keeps only one inside that branch. Yes, they do have the mentality of government employees, but actually not too bad. Occasionally, I do see young employees unfamiliar with the services and they get help from senior coworkers right away. I also sometimes see employees on they phone texting back and forth with friends or families while serving you with their focus on the phone. I have also seen so-called managers avoid any responsibilities by wanting you to call or go online and then, you probably will never get any reply or meaningless replies like I have received. I don't think it would be like this if Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos ran USPS. Before then, we just have to endure this, I guess.

Still a horrible place. One of the employees had a very condescending attitude and couldn't care less.

Ask the Community - US Post Office

Do they allow walk ins to apply for a passport or do you need to have an appointment?

They don't accept walk ins. Just with appointments. LAX station accepts walk in

Is the counter open on Saturday or is there a machine and drop box for packages? The one on Wilshire is closed for any counter business, and has no drop box.

They are open on Saturdays but till 3 pm only. Access to PO boxes and drop off box are open till 5 pm

Busy Bee: Yes, at times, the line can be quite long, but patience is key, especially leading up to the holidays! There are usually two & once in a while, three stations open & they do a great job getting people through the line as quickly as they can! Parking: Free & plentiful! Note: There are numerous gift cards, as well as fun and thoughtful greeting cards to look at while waiting in line! Also, plenty of post office boxes, lockers to retrieve some of your packages & a station where you can weigh your own items and get postage to mail your package! They also have a variety of cool stamps to choose from, which I always enjoy! Outside: There are also gorgeous flowers & plants along the side of the post office gate & walkway! Fun Sightings: Often times, I've even seen cute dogs in line with their friendly owners! Once, someone started singing as we waited in a line! Overall: Over the years, I've "always" had a pleasant experience & leave with a smile! I'm always happy to see the smiling faces of the people who work here, they are amazing and quite genuine; love it!

I've repeatedly brought this up to no avail. I've lost at least 3 packages containing designer clothing to lobby poachers. Then there's the "lost in the mail"instance where a package that was sent back to USPS office never surfaced. No accountability, no concern, no friendly faces. Unless you're elderly and always there. Pffft. Hire NEW people at front desk please. New faces, new fresh and can-do attitudes would be great. It's gotten to the point that I have my personal shopping purchases mail sent to another postal service drop off provider in another CITY and COUNTY. It's inconvenient but reassuring that I WILL receive my mail/packages in a friendly manner and careful handling. Pfffft....

This time, we came for passport services for our child & we were WALKING OUT before our actual appointment time. Came in 10-12 minutes before our appointment, we were greeted & walked right into the office. Ms. Ida (pronounced ee- da) was an absolute gem! She is hilarious & efficient. We had all our documents in order beforehand. Both parents have to be present along with the minor. I feel like if you come prepared, you'll be just fine. Expecting other adults to hold your hand through the process & getting frustrated at them for your lack of understanding is unfair. They are very kind & helpful but please understand you are not the only customer there. We paid via debit at the counter & Shiekh was also very pleasant. Overall 12/10 experience!

After driving like I was in Grand Theft Auto, I finally arrived at the post office at 5:57pm and…read moretried my hardest to park the massive minivan my boyfriend rented. As a petite woman who's 5'2", this was a bit of a challenge, and I didn't even pull all the way into the teeny, tiny parking space because I didn't want to scrape the car on my left or the concrete pole on the right that I was wedged between. I raced to the doors right as they were about to lock them and caught my breath. One more guy made it behind me. The line was long and going all the way out into the lobby, and even though there were only 2 postal clerks behind the counter, the line was moving fast. The clerk who helped me was a friendly lady whose name I don't recall. She may have been wearing a name tag, but I forgot to check. She asked for my tracking number and ID, then went back to retrieve my package. She came out a moment later, I signed for it, then bid everyone goodnight and happy holidays. In and out in under 20 minutes! I was surprised at how patient and friendly both clerks appeared to be, considering the long, holiday line. I'm sure it will only get crazier and crazier leading up to Hanukkah and Christmas, so try to get there sooner than later, and give yourself ample time to beat the traffic and navigate their small ass parking lot. Don't be like me - I mean, "someone who isn't me" - driving in the bus lanes and speeding to get there! Happy holidays and happy new year!!
