It's a Post Office, where you can buy stamps, ship packages and purchase money orders. However, it is one of the slowest USPS, I have shopped. The service is good, but it is super slow, due to the high volume of customers. With the high volume of this location, I wish they had more customer service reps working the counter to expedite the process. read more

This USPS location gets quite busy, and waiting to mail a parcel is routine. That being said, you can expect to wait about 15 minutes. If you're lucky, it's empty during off-hours and you get your business done quickly. They have ample street parking on both sides of the street, and otherwise it's just like any other USPS location. read more

Horrible location. Only one counter open the weekend before Christmas while the other workers jist stand around and yell at the customers if too many are inside. Paid 59.00 to ship a package to ensure it would be delivered by Christmas and they lost it. I shipped on 12/18. It is now 12/30 and they have no idea where it is. Please read the other reviews and don't go here. They seem to lose almost every package. They must be keeping them for themselves they lose so many. And based on the tracking it never actually leaves their location which is also very suspicious. read more

I just rated my experience a few days ago as a two. Now I have to come back and give it it's real rating - one star. It would really be half of a star. A few days ago on a Wednesday, I paid extra to have an important package shipped to my daughter in South Carolina. The extra amount was supposed to insure that the package would be delivered on Friday. Using the tracking number on Friday, we found out that the package had been delivered. TO ROCHESTER, NEW YORK!!!!!! We went to the Post Office and spoke to someone in shipping who said it had been put in the wrong bundle and sent there. The only thing we could do was to wait for it to come back to St. Louis and hope it would be shipped out again. No apology, no nothing. Now this means our important package won't be delivered until maybe Tuesday. Here's the thing. No one from the Post Office will be reading this review. They work for the government and if you make a mistake, well you can have a second chance - and a third chance- and a forty-fifth chance. No one will lose their job because they do it too slowly. No one will be fired because of incompetence. . The most important thing. I have learned that if you are mailing something other than a letter, mail it from FedEx. They will get it there when they are supposed to. read more

I question the utility of reviewing a government establishment, but this location set the bar so low that a newborn munchkin cat could crawl over it with another baby munchkin cat sitting on its back. (Not to knock on the vast majority of hard-working USPS employees at other locations!) Came here on a weekday afternoon this past summer and got in line behind a couple. There were only the 3 of us in line but an employee at the counter snapped at me to take a number. OK, but like, why is your counter the only one open when there are two other people sitting behind "closed" counters doing absolutely nothing? When the couple ahead of me went up to the counter, I overheard from their exchange that the post office had somehow lost their package. The employee basically told them that there was nothing they could do about it and the poor couple was just SOL. That should have been a huge warning sign for me, but alas I did not take the hint! As I walk up to the lady at the counter, I hear her waving frantically at her coworker telling her to "hurry, lock the front door!" It was 5:55 PM, and the post office opens until 6. These people were not going to work an extra second if they could help it. I had to send an international package to China, and the contents meant a lot to me because it was my very first gift for my mother-in-law. I wrapped and taped everything with great care and made sure the address label was attached and perfectly legible. So how in the seven hells did it get lost? Judging by the lazy and sloppy attitudes of the employees here, I can only imagine what went wrong. Even after notifying USPS of the missing package, they were unable to find it after all these months. A whole lot of sentiment and a $200-value gift, gone with the wind because these people could not be bothered to care about their work or customers. I hope this review will serve as a cautionary tale to anyone who's considering using this post office. Spare yourself the headache. I'd rather spend the extra $$ at Fedex or UPS than throw my package away into the bumbling hands of these fools. read more

This location is great. We've lived around the corner for 5 years and they have handled both our home and work mailing needs nicely every time. Yes sometimes there's a line but once at the counter their folks are well trained and actually interact with you as a person. They recommend best ways to mail, work efficiently and are patient if I need to fill out an international form. We've now moved to Maplewood so I mailed my holiday boxes there a few days ago. The lady barely looked at me while talking to the other clerk the whole time. And the parking situation is not good. No thanks. I'm happy to make the short drive to our nice CWE folks to avoid that unpleasantness in the future. read more

Had two packages come through here. Tracking said delivered at/in mailbox. The package was never received. When I asked about it they just said 'it shows delivered on our end. Outrageously bad customer service, even for a post office. Other yelpers' claims of incompetence are true. The wait at this post office is unnecessarily long. The employees embody every negative stereotype of the "lazy government employee". On more than one occasion I've walked into this post office in the middle of the day and found no employees working. I'm talking about no employees in sight and a room full of customers, waiting. You can hear the employees in the back, but no one actually works. Oh, and this post office doesn't open until 9:30 a.m. Since when does the post office open that late? Be warned: if you put your mail on hold, good luck getting it when you return to town. If you indicate that you want the mail delivered to your home at the end of the hold, it won't be delivered. If you're like me, you'll have to go this location no fewer than three times and beg the postal workers to look for your mail before they find it. And if you think you've learned your lesson and indicate that you want your mail held at the post office, they'll cram two weeks worth of mail into your box instead of holding it for you. This post office is the exact reason I now avoid USPS at all costs. Like others have said, I used to prefer USPS over private companies. No longer. I just don't trust them with my mail and it's certainly not worth the aggravation. read more

Usually pretty good service here. Big thanks especially to "Janet" for always putting up with me mailing 29489842 packages to some obscure location like the Sandwich Islands. Just kidding about the Sandwich Islands, but I do mail stuff internationally all of the time and I am so thankful that the ladies who work here put up with my "which customs form do I need to fill out again for this?" type of questions. The wait can be mind-numbingly painful sometimes. So try not to go to mail stuff during peak hours. Some colorful folks come here too...but it's not "sketchy" IMHO despite being located conveniently next to some creepy old factory/warehouse looking buildings. :P I know SLU has a post office again in the student center but I honestly don't want some random college kid mailing my shit.....not to mention they barely have any clue as to how to mail stuff/use the computer system/etc. :( So that's why I keep coming to the Marion Oldham post office to mail stuff. 3 stars for convenient location, people who know what they're doing who work there (usually) and for having a reallly big lot, so parking is rarely an issue for me. This is the local post office for my apartment building. They have delayed my mail three times for absolutely no reason. I called after the second delay and the carrier said she had my mail at the post office for ONE WEEK already. I just called to complain again because something hasn't been delivered that was sent 2 weeks ago, and the supervisor told me I must be doing something wrong. This place is horrible, and I feel extremely angered by their lack of adequate mail delivery service, and complete tactlessness for handling complaints. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! As someone who fully supports the efforts and business of the US Postal Service, I feel betrayal giving them such a low rating, but it is deserved! If ever there was a PO branch that should be shuttered to save money, it is this one. They are AWFUL! Slow, lazy, and completely incompetent. I agree with previous comments, and it is true that staff often disappear to the back for 10-15 minutes at a time, appear completely inconvenienced if you ask them for some assistance, and the average time spent in this PO is usually 20 minutes. Usually the ticket numbers are out, so it is a free-for-all waiting. Probably someone is just too lazy to walk around the counter to replace the ticket roll. Seriously, no stamp machine!?!?! Nine months into our 12 month contract for a PO Box, we were told to come in and give them our keys as the PO Box we were issued wasn't technically ours, and we were given the incorrect box. This would explain SOME of the phone calls and emails from friends and relatives who stated their mail to us was returned. However, we still have issues with the mail reaching us despite the correct address written on the parcel. For about 2 weeks last year, the PO ran like a well oiled machine, and everyone coming and going from the PO would exclaim..."that was the fastest I've ever been in and out of there!" We figured some head honcho supervisor must have been doing a site visit or assessment, because shortly after, things returned to normal. Bottom line, AVOID this location at all costs! I have no other option but to drive downtown therefore, subjected to the absolute rudeness and inefficient employees at this postal facility. These window clerks sit on their rear ends most of their day while "servicing" customers and still seem to have the worst attitudes and displays of sloth. There can be a long line waiting, only 1 person working up front. Needed to tape slip on an overnight delivery envelope; lazy, rude woman w/ short cut purple-red hair told me I needed to drive home to tape it and return, or buy an entire roll of tape. I agree with other reviewers that the physical location of this post office, and some of the employees make it the stereotypical USPS experience. This five star review is for our mail carrier, Anthony. Anthony has the best customer service. I work from home, and get lots of deliveries, and he always knocks on the door to make sure I get packages, and just is a friendly person. I always know when he is on vacation, that's when our mail is wet if it's raining, or late, or we get other people's mail delivered. So give it up for Anthony, the best mail carrier in the city, who works out of the Laclede Avenue USPS. ALSO... had a problem with a mail carrier who was not the usual wonderful Anthony. * Update: my package was 'lost' after a week and since my sender didn't have insurance on it, it's gone forever and I'll never get my money back.** Awful. So I recently moved in the area and have had various packages shipped to my apartment in a timely fashion (different carriers) and this week a small package that was delivered to this Post Office Sunday night has still not been delivered to me physically (it is Thursday afternoon). I called USPS customer service and have a current claim for this package not being delivered. Over the phone, super apologetic (note this is a random customer service person). I decided to visit this location to see if I could simply grab my package and go. I waited for FOURTY minutes only to be told that the package was on the truck and the guy/girl must have forgotten. What the heck. I was left at the counter for about 10 minutes when a guy 'went to go check' and ended up chatting in the back. Then came back and asked what I needed again. So unprofessional and a huge waste of my lunch break. At this point I just hope my package is delivered. read more

I can't believe how unbelievably rude Frenchie was to me this morning. I had to call this location to inquire about a package. My FEDEX tracking information said they had attempted delivery but no one was home so they sent my package to the post office. When I called Frenchie told me that if they tried to deliver it they would've left me a notice and no notice meant they didn't try to deliver it. She was so short and rude on the phone. She didn't even completely hear me out before cutting me off and insisting they didn't have my package. Upon further investigation via the USPS tracking service I found out they they indeed attempt a delivery and stated they left a notice. I searched all outside. Inside and outside of my mailbox but no notice. I feared it was taken or the recent storm had blown it away. So I decided to call again and explain (or attempt to explain before getting cut off) what information their website was giving me. Frenchie answered again and after I explained my situation she just said "hold on" and put me on hold. When she returned to the phone she said "Your husband or your boyfriend was standing outside with your dogs and we will not approach a residence if there are dogs outside." Did the delivery person attempt to call out to him to let him know she had a delivery and couldn't approach until he went inside? No. Did they in fact leave a notice? No. She just went on her way delivering mail. What really upsets me about this situation is in their system they told me they left a notice explaining where my package was and how to retrieve it. But because they couldn't communicate with my landlord standing outside in the middle of the day, all this confusion took place. Oh and I was told my package would be redelivered but "make sure you keep your dogs inside". This is why I initially shipped with Fedex and not the USPS. I will do everything in my power to continue avoiding them as well. read more
