We are so fortunate to have the crew who work up front at the Stanwood post office. They have gone above and beyond many many times over the years for me and my family. They are kind, considerate and a delight to chat with. There are new people who come and go but Amy, Shenandoah and Joel stand out as long term employees who have all at one time or another gone the extra mile for me. Yesterday, I posted photos of my Army service years in a large envelope. The woman at the counter had a very warm personality. She helped protect the photos for me while I put them in the parcel. Doing so, she noticed that the top photo was of me. it was me getting promoted when I was on active duty. She then reached her hand out to me to shake. She thanked me for my service. No person has ever done that for me. Going to war was a terrible experience but she didn't know that. Her expression of appreciation was quite welcome. When I got home I told my wife about my great experience. She was as impressed as I am. But the story isn't over. This morning I got a letter. In the envelope was a $10 bill I accidentally left at her window She actually took the time and effort to return it. Congrats for having a staff that is efficient, kind and above all with great integrity. I can't remember her name but I will say I've never had a bad experience there. Thanks to All of You! I don't know how the USPS survives with the ultra crappy service, facilities, and employee attitudes. I'm also mentioning the outright lies told by their carriers. Recently they stopped delivering packages to our house because we have "an aggressive uncontrolled dog". The carrier made up a story about my Great Dane "attacking" his car when he came down our driveway. Yes he barks and yes he's loud. He's never out without one of us and has never attacked anything. This carrier decides to "red flag" our address and the only way they will continue delivery is for us to sign a paper stating we will keep him inside during their delivery hours 6 days a week. There's no way in hell I'm signing anything. The "manager" is useless and their organization is in shambles. It figures given the state of the federal government right now. I've never had ANY difficulty of any sort ! Perhaps due to the size of our town (actually getting bigger by the moment!) The folks there (the PO) attend to their business seriously, but have ALWAYS been quite pleasant. I've told a quick funny and have not ever missed a giggle in response. I KNOW that the expectations of their employees seems quite overwhelming, so maybe we could lighten their load a little with some funny little clip! or note of appreciation? "Craig" has helped me out a dozen times with some things that had to be time consuming but very important to me. He's been kind and accommodating. We moved to stanwood a few months ago and got a big mailbox with huge numbers for our address and they STILL dont put our mail in the right box. On several occasions our neighbor gets our mail. I have gotten late payment notices several times because we dont get our Bill's! How hard is it to put the mail in the correct mailbox. These are peoples personal information. read more

I have had the worst luck with this post office. I run a small business out of my home and mail products all over the world so you can imagine i rely on the postal service heavily. Was waiting on a package today, but it never arrived. Checked the delivery status and it said "Delivery attempted, but front door or driveway was not accessible." Seemed Stange so I checked my security cameras for the time they claimed the delivery was attempted. No attempt was made. Checked cameras, an hour before and after the delivery attempt time and again, nothing. They never even made an attempt at delivering my package. I guess they just wasn't in the mood to do thier jobs tonight. Not suppising from the Stanwood Post Office. And for what it is worth, my driveway and porch is 100% accessible! read more

This post office, although it has a few nice people, has some really horrible people with bad attitudes. They take their time (I understand they're hourly so they don't need to rush). Also, they claim their clock that is 4 minutes fast is accurate so they close every day 4 minutes early. I have been inside waiting in line and have watched people come up to the door baffled that it was locked when it wasn't even closing time yet. It happened to me today. I arrived at 4:56pm and the door was locked even though it wasn't 5:00pm yet. I live on the island and this is the only post office in a 20 mile radius. On another occasion, I brought in several letters with different weights and the lady with the white hair refused to accept and process these. She said, "I'm not metering all of these. You can buy stamps and put them on yourself." But I didn't know what the weight was so how could I know how much postage to put on each one? Isn't that what they are there for? I had about $56 in postage so it wasn't a small amount. In all, this has to be the worse post office I have ever done business with. The Smokey Point one is much nicer (and go figure, they have 4 stars average). read more

They are terrible. At least twice (that we know of) they have put our mail in another mailbox within the past few weeks. Are the carriers literate? These aren't postcards from Grandma, either. I had to file govt documents TWICE because the first document simply never arrived, and the second time I didn't dare trust the post office and drove down to Olympia myself to pick it up. It cost me months off a job and a couple hundred dollars. Who knows where the first document is or who has it now. If you call the post office, chances are the line is busy. If you call and someone answers the phone, it's startling. The Stanwood post office is a sad joke. Don't trust them with important documents, don't expect any important documents to arrive. Driver leaves a tag on 6/6/19 with a tracking number and writes "No Turn Around". This notice was 100% due to the carrier expecting to use our driveway, if he can't turn around then our package won't get delivered bottom line. It's 60 feet (not blocks or miles or meters) from the curb to lower front doors. It seems package deliveries are predicated on whether our driveway is available or not. Meanwhile Amazon, Fedex and UPS ALL leave packages at lower level. We go online and the tracking number off his tag shows "no such number" (he forgot to scan the tag bar code). We file a redelivery for 6/7. No package. I call supe on 6/7 at 5pm that promises a call back. Wait til Tuesday 6/11, no callback, I call and was told it would be redelivered today (6/11) or tomorrow. That never happened 6/11 and 6/12 no packages. We see driver on 6/12 at 1:45 delivering only mail. He states supervisor never told him to redeliver and he never got the 6/7 redelivery notice either. Call supe she claims she spoke with the driver but yet she still had the package at the Stanwood PO. akes no sense. What happened to her redelivery promise? I've had pleasurable experiences at the counter of the Stanwood PO (reason I gave this a 2 star) just deliveries are a whole separate issue. No centralization or hierarchical communication. They are islands unto themselves. God forbid I would ever use Click N Ship. read more

My reviews are not "cruel" they are honest. Maybe people should do their jobs & stop ripping people off, causing them to lose money. Edit: Last time I went to this post office there was new people, hopefully they got rid of the bad apples! They have a really hard time here. I've had them ship packages that were addressed to British Columbia, Canada to Australia instead. It's never their fault. Today the older woman that works there nearly refused to ship a package because the zip code was shared between to small towns. Shared zip codes are not that uncommon! I had to practically beg her to ship it, assuring her it was correct. There is one younger gal that works here and she is the only competent person at this location. They open earlier than other post offices in the area (those two reasons are why I'm giving two stars). Also they are really slow -- despite the inconvenience I'd rather just go to Arlington, Smokey Point, Marysville, or even Mount Vernon -- what a pity considering this post office services not only Stanwood but also the entire island of Camano. I wish they would just put an Automated Postal Kiosk at this location, it would make this place 100% better (or put a post office on the islabs) read more

UPS, Fedex, DHL, Amazon never have an issue getting deliveries to my house on time. Organizational incompetence on the part of Stanwood USPS, and then as if that isn't bad enough, it's not uncommon for them to make up stories to cover their fecklessness. Stanwood post office lost TWO of my packages within ONE day of each other - I ordered them from different places. I called yesterday about it and the lady said she'd ask around and call me back. She never did. Today I called again and re-explained the situation. They called back to tell me that the truck's GPS showed it came to my address and that they talked to the driver. One of the package's address was missing my unit # (I live in condos) and they still delivered it, the driver said she "knew who I was" so she left it on my door... I have not even lived there a full year. This should have gone straight to the post office as it had no unit #. I have packages delivered often to my house and I've never had them not show up. Terrible customer service. Two packages do not get delivered two days in a row and they're doing nothing about it. Wish I could 0 stars. read more

If I could leave a zero I would! Postmaster hides in the back room when asked to speak to her. We wrote a letter requesting a reply 4 months ago & nothing back yet! With the exception of last time I was at post office it's like walking into the twilight zone. It takes forever & the tellers are very crabby or very rude. Postmaster told our carrier not to deliver packages to our house or she could be fired. When I repeatedly asked teller Elizabeth what we could do to resolve the issue she said she had to take a phone call & walked away on me. They don't answer the phone so how could she have a call waiting? We are missing numerous packages in the last two years. This postmaster should be fired. The whole office has gone to the pits since she has taken over. read more

Awful. Not consistent at all. One route driver absolutely refuses to deliver my mail but I still end up with mail once a week so I assume the other one doesn't have a problem with bringing it to me. Going to leave that driver a coffee gift card for at least doing their job. You'd think there would be some level of pride in doing a job this serious. Not for the staff in Stanwood. They not only do not care about your sensitive material but they will flat out refuse to give it you if you request it. Going to get a PO box at the UPS store across the street and just change my address for all my bills. At least then I'll get my mail and it won't be kept hostage at the office or misdelivered with only a "oops" in response. They also screwed me out of getting some of my family members personal items by not following the proper procedure for return receipt mail. We moved to Camano Hill Road in January. At first, I blamed our new address for misdeliveries. I wrote nice notes to the carrier pointing out errors and asked him/her to be more attentive. By July we had well over two dozen misdeliveries. We never knew when the mail might arrive, often it came after 7 pm! Then finally, last week, we started getting on-time deliveries and we were elated. Not for long, because it seems as though the original carrier may have been on vacation. Yesterday I got a large magazine for Cigar Aficionados addressed to someone way up the hill. This is insane. I have never had service this bad from a USPO. We haven't had mail since friday. Appears the snow frightened the carriers even though their rigs were 4x4 or chained up. How come we and our neighbors were able to get up and down our hill with 4 wheel or all wheel drive but federal employees couldn't? Snow is almost gone....and..wait for it..still no mail!!!! What a surprise! I guess we'll have a stack of mail come summertime. Any wonder this branch of Congress is failing some badly and almost bankrupt? My packages were delivered to a parcel locker on Monday. Carrier forgot to leave a key. Called on Tuesday and they said they would leave a note for the carrier. Wednesday still no key. Called again and they said they would contact the carrier. I left my number so they could let me know. No call back, so I called again. "Oh I left a message with the carrier". I paid extra for faster delivery and now those packages are sitting in a box that I can't get to. Tomorrow is Thursday and I wonder if I'll get my packages. read more

Must not be any communication between the office and the carrier. Our street on Camano was fine to drive down on the 14th but she did not deliver a package that was too big for the box. I pay a lot of money each year for shipping on ebay etc. and the carrier can not even get out of her truck and walk three houses down to deliver. Have had to go into Stanwood twice now to pick up the mail. And she never bothers to leave a note in the box to let us know when it will be delivered. And where was the mail on Saturday the 16th? I left my flag up with a note in there and it is still up on Sunday. A little communication goes a long way. read more

We have shipped cards and letters to all of our grandchildren who live on Camano Island. We're talking about four different addresses and families. All of our grandkids receive their mail from us but one. Three times this year one of the families we've sent mail to hasn't received it while all their cousins received theirs. All mailed the same day from the same place. We suspect whoever the mail carrier is that services Sunrise Blvd. and the vicinity loses or ditches the mail or is simply incompetent. We've had better mail service to foreign countries than the particular family that lives off of Sunrise Blvd on Camano Island. WHERE'S OUR MAIL????? read more
