Since the change of ownership, the shop is no longer open on Saturdays, and they take great liberty taking extra time off during the holidays when people have even more packages they are expecting to send and receive. The price has gone up slightly over the years, but nothing too crazy. Some people may scoff at having a P.O. Box, but there are so many positive things about having one. 1) No one ever steals my mail or packages, 2) I never have to worry about changing my address if I move, and 3) It is convenient for travel. I chose this specific location for my P.O. Box because I was a student when I first got it. However, it is still very convenient even after graduating. I only visit the office a few times a year--typically to pick up an oversized package or mail Christmas cards. I know many people would rank the post office right up there with the DMV as "places I'd rather not be." I actually enjoy when I have business at the post office. Probably because all of my post office experiences at this location have been easy! The employees are always pleasant and helpful--even when I have dumb questions like "are cuter stamps available." Waste of time and money and still no shipping…read more I called this store to get an estimate for packing and shipping from Reno to Sacramento. I gave weight and dimensions and got an estimate of $110. I had purchased the item in question from a seller in Reno. Seller took the item to this store the following morning. I received a call from the seller saying he was at the store and the item required an extra $110 for bubble wrap and "merging two of our boxes." This felt really wrong. You can get a LOT of bubble wrap and cardboard boxes for $110. And j had provided the weight and dimensions previously. Why there was any surprise at all is beyond me. But I didn't want to drag it out for the seller and sent the additional $110. An hour later I got a call from the seller saying UPS now wanted nearly $600 for shipping. I had recently purchased an identical item from a store in HAWAII and the total shipping FROM HAWAII was $150. I called the store. The person I spoke to was incredibly rude. Went on and on about the difference between an estimate and a actual cost, about the value of "our boxes" and bubble wrap, and how their inept packaging changed the weight and dimensions to cost more than double the estimate. I had the seller take the item home. I'll drive to Reno to pick it up as it will be much easier than dealing with the pirates at this store. I ended up giving the seller $50 for the significant trouble this location put him through. I finally forced myself to go and I'm so glad I did and I'm so glad I chose to go to the Vassar location again. Making the appointment on line is incredibly easy, they open at exactly 9am which was my appointment time, my name was called first, the woman that helped me was very to the point and matter of fact but pleasant which is exactly what you want in these types of interactions. The whole process only took 7 minutes! It was so easy and painless, I can't believe how long I procrastinated. I do highly recommend going on line and doing your research. Pre-fill out the forms (I completed to types of forms since I wasn't exactly sure which one would be needed), bring the necessary documents and copies and it will be easy.
