Several weeks ago I went in to mail a small priority mail box, postage determined by USPS to be at slightly over $10. I was quoted that Postal Annex will charge me more than $20 for the same package. I inquired about the difference in price, and was told that those are the price parameters given to them by the USPS. I declined the transaction and went to the local USPS office to mail the same package and was charged a little over $10. I asked about the price quoted at the Postal Annex, and was told by the postal clerk that difference in price was Postal Annex's own MARKUP, and NOT the parameters set by the USPS! I have been a customer of the Postal Annex for more than 20 years, and I felt that I deserved a bit more honesty about their prices than I received. I terminated my relationship with them, and was told that there will be no refund from my PO box renatl fee, and no refrund to the PO Box keys!!! I live around the corner and sometimes work from home. I dread going into Postal Annex. The older woman that works in there is snotty and rude. I don't know if she saves this just for me or she treats everyone like this. On Monday I mailed a large envelope with a copy of a policy, a pen and thank you note in a folder. I requested flat rate no tracking. Today I mailed EXACTLY the same content to someone here in Sparks. She first told me should couldn't mail it because it was not "flat", the pen....(no issues on Monday). When I told her she mailed the same package on Monday and she had no issues she threw her hand up. Today she charged me $1.00 more than Monday. Monday's package was addressed to CA. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is on those rare times I have been able to deal with the owner, she is always polite. I will now drive out of my way before I go back to this business. read more

Had a very unfortunate experience here today! I went in to have my signature notarized. I handed over my license and started filling out the form. I printed my name then signed it. The woman was right there filling out her book with my license info. She was standing right across the counter no more than 6 inches from me while I was filling out the form. After I had printed and signed my name. She says "I hope you didn't just sign your name". I said "You just watched me do it". Then she proceeded to tell me that since she hadn't finished putting my info in her book I would have to have to get a blank form, which of course I didn't have. She then made excuses about how it wasn't her fault it's the rule. I would have thought when she saw me printing my name she would have said something like... make sure you wait to sign that until I finish putting you in my book. I guess her expectation was that I know all the rules regarding notary service. I had no idea that the information had to be put in her book before I could sign my paperwork. I did know she had to witness the signature, which she did! I'm just so disappointed in the lack of customer friendly service that I've received in the past. an update to my previous review. I contacted the corporate office. they called me back. said they had spoken to the owner who told him that I had declined the insurance. I was flabbergasted. I let him know that was a bold faced lie. my son in Wisconsin went to the UPS facility where we thought the package was last seen. they will look into it, but they said that this place WAYYYY over charged me, and the price for $1200. of insurance was all of $15. dollars. WOW. just wow.. We shall see what the paperwork shows read more

I never write reviews... I am in tears over this HORRIBLE business! Faulty, outdated equipment! Do not bring your business here. My husband dropped off 2 stacks to be spiral bound. (Almost $30!? I've paid ~$5 in the past per book at other establishments, BUT was willing to pay because of how important these projects were.) They destroyed my very important documents! I waited days for 2 important personal and teaching planners and documents to be spiral bound. Their "machine shredded them." They put holes in every sheet of paper which cannot be replaced. And then claimed they could not get the binding though. How is that my fault? Pages were frayed; they messed up pages and tried to make copies (bad quality ones) to cover their tracks. What a mess!!! They called days later saying they couldn't do the project. Then why did you attempt it? Why ruin my stuff? "Because normally the machine works." Yet, I was told something was wrong with the paper I brought even though it was regular copy paper. They refunded in cash what I paid to have the job done...What about my time, energy to try to rectify this, not to mention the irreplaceable documents? They offered to make copies and return them back. But the copies would show all holes and were awful quality. DO NOT waste your time and business here!! Only giving one star because I have to, and the lady "felt bad." And I don't take anything out on her personally, but the business needs to rectify this. So so disappointed and overwhelmed with this mess. read more

Employees NOT WEARING MASKS. Basic services. Not up to current technology. Not able/willing to scan QR and print a FedEx label. Only have rolling carts you can drop boxes in without receipt. I didn't know Carol had sent my package to the wrong address. It was coming up as delivered and my sister had not received it.. on a wild goose chase with the office of the apartments, and asking neighbors. I came in person to postal annex and was made aware it was sent to the wrong address. Carol had typed in the wrong address. I'm being told it's not there problem because I signed the receipt that had the address on it. Like everybody reads fine print... I was never asked to verify on the receipt or asked to put insurance on the package. read more

Well i have given these ladies a few chances now. 1st time i was rubbed the wrong way was when they repeatedly told my children if they brake something they buy it. They are little but we're standing close to me the entire time. 2nd time was when they told me they couldn't give me my companies PO Box when i had my ID and and key and my name is on the box. 3rd time was today when they told me they could not give me a receipt for my drop off for USPS. I utilized their package receiving service to avoid packages sitting on the porch of my vacant rental property. The order came in multiple deliveries over a couple of weeks. Their charges for receiving and storing, so that I could make one trip to gather my items, were extremely reasonable. Carol and Tipa could not have been nicer and more accommodating. I had a package that needed to be mailed. I brought it to Postal Annex and I was advised the shipping cost was $34 (FedEx). I should have questioned the cost at that time but I figured they knew the most economical way to send it. A couple of days later because the high price was still bugging me I checked with USPS on the cost since I had the weight and the dimensions of the package I had mailed. The cost would have been approximately $20 by shipping iit through the postal service. Unfortunately I was unaware at that time that Postal Annex advertises "We compare top carrier rates, so you have the choice." I had a choice, but I never knew to ask for it. I purchased two holiday wreaths as gifts and ordered an additional one. I was called on Wednesday to let me know it was done and I told them I would pick it up Friday on my day off. I got a call Thursday from her employee stating they sold my wreath as they put it on display and someone wanted it. I was in disbelief. You order something and they sell it to the first person waving money! I do love the owner but the lady that works for is just nasty, rude and greedy. I received my mail there for five years and mostly had no trouble but my iPhone indicated that I had received a package there and when I went in to pick it up Carol told me I had no package. I had to insist that I did before she would look again and found it. My sister-in-law sent me a Christmas card with a $25 check in it and I didn't get it in my box until February even though postal annex's "rec'd " stamp was on the envelope showing it had been received on February 22nd. read more

While they are nice and attentive to customers, it is overpriced. They up charge for USPS priority mail flat rate!! I brought my own packed large priority box to ship, and instead of postage fee of $17.90, I was charged $26.35. When I asked about it, all she did was shrug at me. Same for priority flat envelopes, an extra $3! All they did is slap a sticker on it. And my prepackage plain box was put into another bigger box by the man, while I was busy paying for the usps box. Without even asking me first, so of course it cost more to ship, because size was bigger and more wt from extra packaging! I should have just drive an extra mile to get postage from the post office! They advertise that the pack it for free; they reuse old boxes & packing materials that customers bring in, and still charge you for it!! Customer beware!!! read more

Have used this company for all of my mailing and shipping needs for a few years now. My kids love mailing letters to their family and when we come walking in the 2 ladies in there always make it way more exciting for them. They ask who they are mailing letters to and are very patient when my kids pay for stamps. They also love the little doggy the owner has. I like being able to walk in and drop off pre-paid boxes right on the counter and avoid the line and yesterday when I was in, the lady at the counter gave me a media discount for shipping some books. I have mailed multiple packages from this business. Each time I noticed the prices were marked up incredibly high! I know they need to make a living but please stay competitive. And give me a reason to pay the higher price, the service leaves a lot to be desired. When asked why or why not the ladies working there always reply "because" or "that's just the way it is". I sent a package to Japan using this postal annex in hope that I can save some time since there's no line here compared to the post office. I had sent packages before in the same address with no problem at the post office. First, they charged more about $10 more so I paid over $80 when it could've been less than $70. Then I asked for the custom form and they said they'd take care of it and I thought that was good for me (less paperwork). So 3 weeks later my friend (in Japan) in a panic messaged me that Japan postal service informed her that the package COULD NOT BE DELIVERED because the address was wrong and it's being sent back to me! In the end, she was able to recover it and found that the address was indeed written wrong (and not by me). So lesson learned I will stick to the post office. read more

Tipa and Carol could not be more professional and efficient, as well as smiling and friendly. They have been kind enough to 'go the extra mile' watching for our replacement ATM card when we were hacked and far from home. tsk, tsk, tsk...I called to get a price of scanning 150 pages of a document into a pdf. I was quoted $1.00 a page!!!!...I said, "Really?..she said yes"..I mean she was really pleasant, but she didn't offer to lower it. It was really too bad because The UPS Store on Baring quoted me .50 a page regularly, but gave me a HUMONGOUS discount - I won't say how much so that he won't get killed with people getting into his store!....but really...how can you charge $1.00 when your competitor charges 0.50 on a regular day and even more less on a feel good day? the service at The UPS store was outstanding..the women at the counter make the difference...very helpful, kind and just plain wonderful. The Best Shipping Experience EVER!!!! Spanish Springs and Sparks, don't waste a half a day in the Post Office. I went to PostalAnnex earlier this week and I was in and out with very friendly service and the BEST part is FREE PACKAGING! Yes they do it for you, so you won't be pushed to the side like they do at the Post Office, they do it all for you for FREE! I do a lot of shipping so of course I'll be going there again. I've tried this place a handful of times and each time I leave I walk away wondering why I keep going back. The people at the counter are not pleasant. I went to seal my envelope and the counter lady got upset/ frustrated with me stating that they do all the packaging. I reminded her that they were my packages with very important documents and that I wanted to make sure they were sealed. They also charge close to double what you would pay at the USPS (a mile down the street, if that). I'm always amazed how places like this lack in customer service. read more
