This post office NEVER picks up the phone. The post master/ mistress doesn't seem to care for their customers!

I got there and it was closed. After careful inspection of the door I noticed that it was columbus day. Which is funny they are closed because that is not a holiday in californa. But it's government owned, I don't expect it to work anyways. Little did I know... So I went ahead to the little machine next to the door. I just wanted to get a stamp to ship a letter. The machine refused to give me 1 stamp because there was a min value of $1 per purchase. Because they were 0.49 each, i had to buy 3 (not 2). After sticking one of the 3 stamps (that ended up costing 1.47 due to taxes) on the envelope I went ahead and tried to open the drop box. It was closed!! The machine was literally saying for me to open the box and drop it in there, and it would not budge. I just shoved the letter over the cylinder and walked away. read more

For Passport Sevices only: When I read all of the reviews, I was worried. I was expecting the worst, but Maryann (I hope I spelled that right).. she is WONDERFUL!!! I didn't have all of my documents, b/c the laws had changed for people born in the U.K. but with dual citizenship. She explained my options, instead of telling me to come back another time. She took my picture as soon as I got there, so there was no wait for that. She was absolutely delightful. I don't know about a Violet... but PLEASE request an appointment with Maryann. She truly saved me A LOT of time and extra stress. She also assured me NOT to spend the extra money on an expedited passport, as they are not backlogged. Only passport appointments are. Decent, with easy parking. I went there on a Wednesday at 1:30pm, and there were 5 people in front of me, and had to wait about 10-15 minutes, which wasn't bad (depends on how prepared the customers ahead of you are). There was one lady behind the counter to help, and another that occasionally came in asking for package pickups. The lady who helped me greeted me and asked me how I was, and was helpful and had a good attitude about everything. A little manners makes a huge difference (as opposed to the rude lady at the downtown Sunnyvale post office - see my other review). I will definitely come back here! read more

I've probably left a review for them already HOWEVER, since service has NOT improved I will gladly leave another. I am currently expecting several items in the mail and according to the tracking numbers one was supposed to be delivered on Saturday, and while we are in fact open the tracking info says the business was closed and mail could not be delivered and that it would be delivered on the next BUSINESS day, which is today and I don't see that my mail has left the post office at all in which case, my mail wont be delivered today or if the tracking info hasn't been updated the mail was not delivered to the right place (the mail person already came by) this is frustrating for a number of reasons but mostly because it is a VERY common occurrence. The other items I'm expecting were said to have been sent to the post office on Friday so there is really no excuse as to why they were not delivered today. But once again the tracking info has not shown any movement of those packages... Worst post office, EVER. read more

Overall, I am beyond impressed by the level of professionalism and care I have received from the Sunnyvale branch. The fact that I have a point of contact to help with my business needs is above and beyond my expectations of working with USPS. My driver, in particular, has made my life as a startup business owner so much easier. I moved my business to Sunnyvale from Los Angeles in April and expected to hire someone dedicated to fulfillment, shipping, and making drop-offs at USPS and FedEx. I didn't end up needing to hire someone because of how responsive and accommodating USPS and my driver has been. For a new business with a limited budget this has been huge. It means that I can dedicate more time to getting the word out about my business and developing new products. Our regular driver offered me his personal cell phone number so that I can communicate with him on a daily basis. He suggested this after I had scheduled a recurring pickup daily (to save myself the time and effort scheduling pickups) but only had packages 4/6 days a week. Now, I make it a point to text him daily with the updated status. If there are no packages, he's off the hook and can save time. If I have more packages that day, he can tell his manager that there is a large pickup and send a 2nd truck. It works so well and I have enjoyed getting to know my USPS driver. It almost feels like how I imagine the 1950s to be when the mailman is part of your daily routine and adds to your sense of community. He asks questions about my business and I feel like he genuinely cares about our success. He even lets me know when he's finishing up in the building's mail room so that I can hurry up and finish preparing orders. When I was on vacation last week he texted a photo to reassure me that FedEx had picked up my packages so that I could have peace on mind! This is a level of service that is unheard of! I felt like giving this feedback because my impression is that USPS only receives negative feedback from customers. I have seen drastic improvements in the operations and professionalism of USPS over the years and I think this story deserves to be told. It kind of reminds me of the Domino's re-branding when they drastically improved their product/service. Keep up the good work! read more

Building is nice; location is closer to my home than the previous one. But come on, 16 parking spaces (two of which are handicapped) for a main post office? Really?! That coupled with only one way in and out of the very tight parking lot starts your USPS-Sunnyvale experience off badly. I ended up driving around the corner and parking in the company next to the Post Office's parking lot only to have to walk a rather long way back to the front door - all the way back to the joke of a parking lot in fact. No entrance from the side walk to the front door. Crazy. If you only have a letter to drop off you'd think you'd have it easier, but you'd be mistaken. There is a mail box on Borregas but unless you have a passenger who can drop your letter in the box you are out of luck. There is No Parking on the street so you can't even legally stop, get out of your car to drop the letter in the box. I agree with the previous reviewer - Do you want to stay in business USPS? Based on this un-customer friendly location I'd say the answer is NO. Too bad. BTW, I gave them 2 stars because once you make it inside its very nice, otherwise I would have gone with one. Although I didn't need to stand in line (and there was one), it looked to me like there were fewer counter positions to help customers. read more

No parking and don't get your passport here!!!! I had an appointment at 9:45 and was told I could get my photo here, when I showed up they told me they LOST their camera and made me go to cvs to get it done and when I got back made me wait at the end of the line so I was late for work! read more

This place makes the dentist seem fun. I understand that when you open you want to get everything straight but when there's 10 people standing in line do you have to spend the first five minutes of being open on straightening out the curtains and the blinds in front of the counter to look all pretty or should you maybe get to work and help customers? i've learned over the years not to expect much from the post office but this place is a gem of ineptitude. read more

This place is the hub of the most unbelievably uncaring unprofessional postal workers (and I've been to my share of post offices). When you call, they put you on hold right away, without acknowledging the call. When you show up (because you think it's easier than to hold for over 20 minutes, twice in a row... hey, I was hoping someone would still pick up!), you meet slow rude people. I came to pick up a package with the postcard from the post office indicating the tracking number, article number and whatever else information is written on there, and the post office worker went to look in the back. She came out two minutes later saying she couldn't find it. We stood there like idiots staring at each other for a few long moments, me waiting for her to continue and her not saying anything. Finally, I asked her if someone can help her look for it. The postcard said that it was being held at that location until pickup (and I only received it the day before, so it wouldn't be returned yet). She said that I can go into this side room and ask for a manager. I asked her to call the manager for me, and she said she couldn't and that I should go, explain my situation to the secretary and have her call the manager. It looked like she wasn't going to call the manager, so I went to that side room. I waited for the manager for 5 minutes, and no one was coming. I went back to the secretary and asked her to call the manager again. A minute later, a man showed up. I told him what was going on, and he asked me for the postcard and said he'd go look. He went to the back, and initially I could see him moving around, and then nothing. I waited and waited, and finally after 17 minutes of more waiting, I asked the secretary to call the manager again. He comes out and looks at me and asks me how he can help me. When I informed him that I am the same person he should already be helping, he looks me dead in the eye and asks me what my issue was. When I told him I gave him the postcard, it took a moment to register and then he said he couldn't find anything. I ended up giving him a copy of the postcard and writing my phone number down and leaving because I didn't have time (and face it, no one has as much time as the post office workers). I missed a phone call three hours later from the post office and the message said that post lady already delivered my package and placed it in my mailbox. The package was the size of a small chair and in no way would have fit in my mailbox. An hour later I was about to call the post office with that information, when a delivery MAN walked to the house with my package. I have no idea what goes on behind those doors of the post office, but the complete unaccountability and disinterest of this particular office make me cringe. read more

The employee at this post office was very rude and unprofessional. I had to pay $0.79, for which i gave her a $20 bill. She refused to accept it and asked if I didn't have a card. Whether or not I have a credit card is none of her business. The employee seemed like she hated her job. read more

This review is for their passport service. Pros: - Easy to make appointment, lots of openings, I could get same day appt! - They knew everything to file for the passport application. - They can take your photo on the spot for convenience, but... Cons: - The $15 photo was ghetto. You just sit in the office in between a file cabinet and a desk with the wall as the backdrop. They use a cheap point and shoot digital camera. You could literally get the same quality at home with your phone and a wall. Then get it printed for 25 cents. read more

Everything I mail from work goes through this post office. I swear they collect it and throw it on a shelf for a month before they send it out. I mailed something on the 8th going one city over and it's still not there on the 20th! This the the rule not the exception. This happens EVERY time I mail something. Truly the worst post office ever. We moved over a month ago and filed a change of address form in a timely manner. We have receive no forwarded mail. This post office claims that they are forwarding it. We know that is not the case. We are working with our new post office, but it is clear through Informed Delivery which we still have, that this Sunnyvale Post Office is being untruthful and delivering our personal mail - medical records, credit cards, etc. - to a new tenant at our prior address. This is a disgrace. ***Informed Delivery allows you to see a pdf of the actual pieces of mail which have been delivered. read more

Would not recommend...too bad we don't really have a choice. They never pick up their calls (rings forever) and like all USPS branches, the line moves extremely slowly. Also, I'm assuming the mailpersons in the Sunnyvale area work through here as this is the main branch in the city. The mailpersons who deliver in my area (apartment complex in 94086) frequently will deliver at 6pm and leave all parcels that do not fit in the box at the apartment office (rather than drop them off as the individual doorsteps like my old one) - which I guess is fine in terms of security BUT they will not put slips in your box to let you know your package was delivered to the office so you have no clue you received a package. When they do deliver your small parcel straight into your mailbox they apparently will just shove whichever package into whichever mailbox without checking the apartment numbers. In the past few months, I've gotten somebody else's clothing order in my mailbox. I returned it to the apartment office. Someone else got my parcel in their mailbox and did NOT return it. Tracking said delivered but I never received it and nor did the office, which means the mailperson put it in someone else's box and they decided to essentially steal it. Wow! This review is regarding the amazingly "our-hands-are-tied" lack of service regarding both A) lobby self-serve postage machine and lobby package mailing, and B) P.O. Box service. The counter clerks seem to have no customer-service authority and / or the inclination toward having such. A) If you go to the lobby before / after counter is closed, please, before you purchase your postage, do yourself the favor of checking that the package bin door is functioning. On a Saturday at 3:15pm, I knew the counter was closed, but I also know that there are pickup times until 5:45pm. I also know how to use the self-serve postage machine. Set my package on the scale, went through the machine's transaction process, and got my $5.80 postage. Adhered the postage to the package and took it to the package drop-off bin-door. The bin-door wouldn't open. I could see through the wall space that the package bin was overflowing. It seemed that one or more packages had gotten jammed. As I knocked on the various lobby doors to seek somebody working in the back to clear the overflowing bin, three more customers came in to use the postage machine and package drop-off door and could not. I had bought postage to get the package to its destination by Tuesday (Priority Mail w/in the bay area; not guaranteed, but always does), but couldn't get the package into the mail bin. And I had no more time to jet to another post office before a meeting. So, on the following Monday I took the package and my receipt and explained what had happened and requested an upgrade to Overnight service so it would arrive on Tuesday. The counter clerk said they can't provide a free upgrade because "we aren't responsible for that," as she pointed to the lobby package mailing area. ??!? I was stunned for a second before I asked, "Then who is?" The clerk didn't have an answer, and stammered "If on Saturday after the counter service is closed and you want to make sure your package gets somewhere by Tuesday, you need to come to the counter on Monday and send it Overnight." ??!? Apparently, the workers staffed to work in the back through 5:45 pickups aren't responsible for keeping the package bins clear enough to receive packages through 5:45. And if you want to give the USPS your business via the lobby machine, it's your gamble. Further, all the counter clerk said she could do is refund the $5.80, or upgrade to Overnight for an add'l $13+. She said her hands are tied. Wow. B) P.O. Box service non-disclosures My opinion is that a P.O. Box is better than a PMB since PMB's are run by private individuals and have tendencies to go out of business, inconveniently requiring you to change your address. But please be aware of the following before you sign up for a p.o. box, because none of these were disclosed to me when I signed up. --packages or pieces of mail "must arrive before 11:30am or it won't be in your p.o. box until the following day." Why? "Because the person staffed to do that works the early shift." (Uh ... change the schedule / staffing.) So, if you pay for overnight, or 2-day UPS, FedEx, DHL, OnTrac, or other carrier service, plan for your mail to be in your box a day later so you don't waste a trip or fail to meet a deadline. --I signed up online for a p.o. box. I printed the sheet that said I also want to opt for email-notification, and took it to the post office. The counter clerk took that form and my application form, stamped them, and when I asked for a copy or a receipt, she said that once they stamp a document they can't give you a copy. ??!? I've never once received an email notification, and I have no evidence that I submitted the form opting for that service. --The USPS promotes 24/7 access as a benefit of having box service with them. But if they run out of the package-holding boxes, you'll receive a pickup notice in your box and need to return during counter hours. Now, of course it makes sense that if the package holding boxes are all filled, then they're filled. Except that I once had four packages arrive over two days, and they were in four separate holding boxes. Sheesh. What a waste of holding boxes. Three of the small packages could easily have fit into one holding box. Someone could take the initiative to sort and group packages into fewer holding boxes. This should not be a difficult operational change to implement. I used to love our USPS for many reasons. But it seems not just that mail volume reduction by e-comm and private carriers is reducing USPS biz. It seems the lack of cohesive service quality (either top-down driven, or from attitude-toxicity in the culture there, or both) is causing USPS self-harm. They seem to be working without problem-solving initiative and successful execution, and with an absence of good-work enthusiasm. By basic operational standards, the issues I experienced should be simple fixes, and I'll be happy to update this review as (hopefully positive) changes occur. read more

I would've given them a zero if it was allowed. The lady in the passport office is very rude as well as the other filipina who's working in the counter. I don't think they were trained on how to deal with customers. They don't know how to greet and to speak to the customers. Worst customer service ever!!! I was waiting for a replacement phone from Verizon and this particular post office lost it. I wasted hours trying to find it, went there numerous times, called 20 times per day and their number is constantly busy (so no point calling). Different supervisors told me different things and in the end they still don't know where my package is. It was supposed to be delivered on December 21st and it still "in transit" because they lost it. USPS is not reliable at all, FedEx and UPS always delivers my packages and there is always a problem with USPS. read more

I am a regular customer and come here often to mail my stuff and witness moron customers who degrades and mistreats postal workers who work at the front. Just today 2/27, I overheard this person of Indian descent who complained about not getting a call back for passport appointment when he left his information around noon. Well you know, like the counter person told you, YOU NEED TO BE PATIENT! You are not a SPECIAL customer either! How dare you walked straight to the counter without falling in line. This review is specific for the lady working the passport office. Don't know her name but she was working on 11/25 after 1pm. I've been trying to make an appointment for a passport renewal with no success over the phone for the past week or so - line is always busy and the vmail box is full. So I went in person to see if I can schedule one and came in around 12:40pm.. which was during her lunch (that's on me). She shows up at 1:05pm, (i don't care about being 5 mins late) opens the door and asks if I have an appointment. I say no and as I'm start asking her my question if I can schedule an appointment with her, she sticks her finger in my face and waves the next person in. WOW nice customer service. I get it she hates her job. So I make the mistake of waiting to ask her about the appointment and ended up waiting another 40mins when I decided to walk. #Update# Finally, the staff who made the mistake drove to my office to deliver my correct mail and get back the wrong mail by herself. I hope this kind of thing will never happen again. Here is a lesson for them to learn to take responsibility for their carelessness and unprofessionalism. 1. I waited at home for a whole Saturday but no postman came at my requested redelivery date. 2. Gave me a wrong letter when picking up my letter at their office this Monday morning. 3. I need to drive to their office again to return this wrong letter and get my letter back tomorrow. 4. I didn't request another redelivery because I don't trust them and I don't want to waste another Saturday waiting for them to redeliver. Here is the story: I am working 9 to 6 in Palo Alto, so I missed this post office's delivery of my certified mail during weekdays last week. So I requested for a redelivery on last Saturday 06/03/17. I canceled all my plans and waited at home for A WHOLE DAY, but NO ONE CAME! So I asked my boss for a morning off and drove to their office this Monday morning. The staff explained to me my redelivered mail was given to the postman earlier before Saturday, so when the postman redelivered it, I was not at home again. Finally, she gave me my letter and I drove to work immediately. However, when I opened the letter, I found out it is not my letter but someone with similar first name. So now I need to ask for another morning off to drive to their office to return this wrong letter and get my letter back. Mail listed as delivered online. Came home to find no package. Called then went to office and was told mailman did not leave it because it was too large to fit into mailbox. Was assured that package will be redelivered the next day. Next day I found the package slipped cleanly in my mailbox. Bunch of liars. All of them. read more

A visit to their parking lot is like having a death wish. I cannot believe I haven't gotten in an accident. When it's jammed up (regularly) do they open the gates for additional parking for customers? Nope! But the most frustrating thing is that they don't scan many of the packages which are dropped off (with bar codes). As an ebay seller if my package doesn't get scanned until the destination city there's a good chance I get a late shipment mark on my account, and ebay raises rates for sellers with those. So, despite paying at least three dollars for an item which is an ounce or two so I've got tracking, I have to wait until they're open, stand in line and ask them to scan the packages. And even then they often don't want to do this. Apparently scanning packages' bar codes is NOT part of their service! Super frustrating, and wastes tons and tons of my time. Several of the employees are very pleasant, but there is one woman at the counter who is SUPER rude, talks over you, etc. It's astonishing that they'd have her working at the counter with customers! read more

I needed to get passports renewed for my two kids. Everyone under 16 is required to have in person applications now. I called literally five different post offices. All appointments were booked out 4 to 6 weeks. I called this office and they had availability the next day!! We were seen 15 minutes past our appointment time, but the process was smooth and friendly ... And hands down better than waiting another five weeks. read more

This place is terrible for many reasons, the first being that there is no parking. Cars line up in the street in hopes of getting one of the 7 or 8 coveted spots open to customers. The other reason is the fact they have one teller operating for a line of about 15 people. read more

Been going here for a while. I haven't had any bad experience in this location. All counter staff are thorough and gives suggestions how to save money. I had to take 1 star for lack of parking space and too narrow that it's hard to navigate in and out of the parking lot. read more

DO NOT EVER USE THIS POST OFFICE. The phone lines are ALWAYS busy, customer service SERIOUSLY sucks, and no one working there even helps with anything. If you are not at your doorstep for the second the carrier comes by, they bring back your package and pretty much mail it back to the sender immediately, giving you NO time/notice to put it on hold or pick it up before they send it back. I have literally made 21 calls before someone picked up the phone. Once they did, they said it wasn't their fault that my package wasn't delivered and didn't offer any insurance compensation or anything for my lost package. I am literally sending all of my packages to my parents' house and then making the 3 hour drive in order to receive my packages, because that is honestly easier than dealing with Sunnyvale's post office. I have never gotten so irrationally upset before with customer service. I am typically a very calm and understanding person (who has worked in retail and dealt with some seriously inconsiderate people) but my experience here is utterly ridiculous. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE, YOU WILL REGRET IT. I WOULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS IF I HAD THE OPTION. read more

Worst parking ever. The lot is tiny and creates frequent traffic issues on Java. I drive by it every day and have seen several wrecks because of it. The fact that this place is allowed to be open and have such a disaster of a parking situation is amazing. It should be illegal. The interior is ok but service is slow. Of course that seems to be consistent with most Post offices around here (the one on Mary was good). The few times I have been recently have not gone quickly. The workers seem to not care.
