I've lived in Torrance or about 47 years and have never had a good thing to stay about the US Post Office until about 5 years ago. Approximately 5 years ago, we received a new Post Carrier named James. James has not only been a great Postal Carrier, but has become a member of the community. Honestly, I've always considered the US Post Office to be inefficient and poorly ran, but Carriers like James prove that professionalism and charisma still exist at the US Post Office. In actuality, I find myself trying to support the US Post Office more because of James. He's a great guy, and literally adds to the community. James, keep up the great work. You're appreciated, loved and cherished by the community you serve. Just ask anyone on your route. read more

I had a package shipped from The west side of Los Angeles to my address in San Pedro. Somehow it wound up at this post office (I guess for distribution to my local office for delivery. So far, it has been at this post office for five days going on six with no update to the tracking (which is pretty useless) in that time. Judging from other reviews list here I would surmise that this is a PERFECT example of a government run agency that is antiquated and need to fade into non-existence. But our overreaching government will never let that happen and will continue to misuse our tax dollars to bail their union buddies. All we have to look forward to is $1 postage stamps. read more

So not only does USPS marked delivered for items not shipped it doesn't make it to the actual mailbox till about 2-3 days later. In this situation 2/3 were delivered and the 3rd not to be found, I opened a case, the case worker writes a postage with a return call #, it shows they have tried to call but no answer, how do you get a message back to USPS showing they don't answer? I got it, lets leave a review on yelp so others know of what I'm experiences with local mail. This isn't the first time and it appears until we move out of Torrance this issue will be on going, considering the previous reviews here it doesn't seem promising, advice is this, don't ship through USPS or have others ship to you through USPS as if the insurance is less than the value you will be at a loss. "Please call me directly at 310-222-5902 at your earliest convenience" is the memo, at least have a voicemail if your requesting a callback and at least call back, my phone records indicate there are no missed calls from USPS, what a waste of time chasing and making sure people do there job and its not even. The protocols really need to change here as I'm sure I'm not the only disgruntled person. read more

This was the closest post office to where I was staying, and honestly it was still a pain in the butt to drive to. What happened to Torrance? Do they not believe in those large-blue public mailboxes where you can just drop a letter or a bill? I'm used to having those on virtually every other street corner. I sent a Christmas Gift to an elderly Retiree. It never got to her, I believe it never left the 1433 Marcelina Ave Torrance Post Office! According to tracking it didn't leave the LA area. I will give them 0 stars if I could. I sent a very important package to my son in San Diego from this office overnight, I paid the $16.50 and they said they guaranty a 1 day delivery. Is over one day and the package was sent to San Bernardino not San Diego, I called the 800 # and after 40 minutes of waiting to get help, they said they are very sorry but the package was sent to San Bernardino by error and is ready to be deliver..... WHEN???!!!! They will have to give me my money back, but they can not just mail me a check, I have to go back to the office, get in line and then maybe get my money back... but that is not the problem, I sent this overnight because it had to be there by noon today... This place is in the cutest of Torrance neighborhoods and there is ample parking. It's not a very large Post office, but it has everything you need. I showed up here around 2 pm on a Friday and it wasn't very packed at all. I really liked this post office! And I HATE going to Post Offices. The people here were very friendly and I didn't feel rushed at all. I had a couple of packages I wanted to send and wanted to know if it would be cheaper to send it in my own box or a medium priority flat rate box. The woman assisting me took her time to weigh each package and let me know what my options would be without even the slightest hint of annoyance. I appreciated that immensely. I live in Lawndale and hate my local post office. I think I may just make the trek here for those times I absolutely need to go to the Post Office. read more

Friendly customer service. Impatient customers waiting in line who will make it known that they are unhappy with you if you don't have your shipping item ready to ship by the time you're at the front of the line.... calm down people! (it's only your lunch break-- it's not an emergency!) When I went they had boxes for 50% off, even non-holiday boxes. I have been here twice, both times around noon to get stamps for my mail. Found parking easily in front of the post office. The office was not busy - I waited in line for less than a minute (2 windows open and only 1 person waiting in front of me), and the workers are friendly and fast. This place is a hit or miss. I've had good experiences where the line was short, service is fast, and parking is plentiful. Then again I've had times where parking is non-existing, line was long, and service was extra slow. I actually stood in line for what seemed like forever once because an employee was too busy flirting with a young female customer! The only tips I have to make the trip easy are : Don't go during lunch time. Have your items ready. And load up your phone with music, games, or books to pass the time while in line. There is no excuse for how PATEL just treated me at this location. I ship around 10 packages a day and have been to just about EVERY USPS location in the South Bay and have never had an experience like the one I just had. When I go to this particular location, I usually drop my packages off in their unsecured glass box and hope no one steals my packages since no one is EVER watching the box! But today I needed my packages scanned in so they showed as received and wouldn't be pushed aside and scanned in tomorrow or the next day(which happens quite often). When I got in line, the "assistant" asked if I was just dropping packages off and I explained that I needed a receipt. She shortly replied, "We don't give receipts." I thought this was a strange policy especially since I have seen them give receipts before but said "Ok, well I need them scanned at least to show my buyer's that I brought them in." She impolitely replied, "You're suppose to put them in the box and we will get to them when we get to them." I have NEVER been told that if I wait in line like a normal customer that my packages could not be scanned so I continued to wait. By the time I got to the window, the office was EMPTY. I explained to the clerk, Patel, that even if I couldn't have a receipt that I just needed them to be scanned. This is when Patel thought it would be a good idea to start lecturing me as if I were a child. He began by saying, "that since we aren't busy I'll scan the packages this one time but this is not how it works and next time put them in the box." I replied that it was bizarre that he would say that since I've never been told that the USPS couldn't scan my packages at the window. He rudely replied, "there's nothing bizarre about it! just facts." I continued to stand there and thought it better to just let him continue to scan the packages then argue further but apparently he felt like he should keep lecturing me. I continued standing their quiet while he continued making comments until he had the audacity to say, "AND YOU ARE GETTING AN EBAY DISCOUNT FOR YOUR SHIPPING SO WE DON'T HAVE TO SCAN YOUR PACKAGES RIGHT AWAY. WE WILL GET TO THEM WHEN WE GET TO THEM" That is when I finally lost my cool. Just because I get a few cents off for shipping through Ebay doesn't mean I am not a paying customer and you have the right to brush off my packages until you decide fit! I told him that he was being extremely rude and to give me my packages back and that I would go elsewhere to do my shipping from now on. I went to my local USPS here in San Pedro and the clerk took my packages with a smile and began scanning them. I told him about the experience I had just had at this location and he let me know that Patel was entirely wrong. That is NOT the USPS policy and that is not how things should be handled by clerks. He said they were lucky to not have someone like Patel working at their location but it was still lame that he was working for the company. Truly disappointing experience and I will be reporting this incident to USPS so hopefully these clerks can receive some extra training in customer service! read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT RESPECT. I have done business at this USPS several times in the past. The individual named Eddie was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE. He was complaining that my envelopes were "borderline too thick", and insisted he was doing me a favor by shipping them at a lower cost. Then he informs me another parcel I had would ship at twice the cost of a flat rate envelope, so I kindly asked if I could switch it. While displeased, he allowed it. He then thought it a good idea to irritate me further, and insist that next time I order package materials online. I informed him I ship something like this annually, if ever. He then stated, "Yea, well it doesn't hurt". Yes, blame the customer. Good job. He was then annoyed at me when he didn't properly set up the payment process when I inserted my credit card chip. In front of the other customers, he sternly instructed me to make sure the card was not in the reader. Nice. Now we're on to humiliation. And finally to add the cherry on top, prior to me leaving, he again reiterated, "You know, those envelopes were not envelopes, but parcels". WOW. I was clearly being spoken to as if I were an idiot and a nuisance. This guy needs obviously hates his job, and needs to be counseled on customer service ASAP. What a disgrace to USPS. P.S. This place is awesome. It is in the heart of downtown Torrance. Great place to be around. Only open during the day and has no self-service kiosks. It is perfect for me when I just need to drop something off and am passing thru. I haven't had the chance to deal with the Postal Service Workers but I'm sure they are like many folks who just want to do their 8 and go home. Its a nice building and is in historic and well maintained Downtown Torrance. Kinda like a blast from the past. read more

This is the 3rd time in a year that USPS packages routed through this post office to our business in Torrance have been marked as an attempted delivery or delivered shipment, when they DID NOT get delivered or attempted at all. Every time they claim someone tried to deliver it after 6pm to our business and was unable to do so, yet we have two shifts of people here from 6am to midnight, monday through friday. The first 2 times they claimed to have delivered it on the tracking and when I check the video of my CCTV cameras on the building they outright lied about it and never even entered the property. After complaining to usps, the packages showed up the next day with no explanation about why they still had them (expensive electronics both times) and yet had marked them delivered. This latest time they marked the package "held at customer request" after they didn't bother to try to deliver it, when neither me nor the 2 different amazon sellers who put the goods in the package requested that, and now they refuse to answer the phone at the post office at 1pm on a Tuesday to explain when I can pick it up or where my package is. If there was some way I could make sure that none of my mail touched this post office I would do so, since they are pretty much a black hole to packages that you expected to get on time. Very old school post office but the employees are nice 90% of the time (which is rare for post offices!) Even with a long line it never takes longer than 10 minutes and they will help you find the best rate. Just don't come on Friday- it's always crazy for some reason! They also have a scale, shipping supplies for sale, and p.o. boxes, but no label machine so you have to talk to people ;) read more

this is the worst post office ever not only the employees are rude they don't know what they are doing. they have lost 2 of my mails instead of sending it here at ca they sent my mail to another state not informing me or whatever so the important mail that i paid to be rushed was received after a week! now i mailed an important mail again they marked it as delivered but it never came to the recipient now i am having troubles about that mail i need to pay fees because it never came in time or should i say it never was delivered but it was said it was delivered on the day so disappointing. this postal office should be closed down or fire the employees they don't know the results of their actions to their customers. read more

Asian old woman was only one on duty and she was SUPER rude. I mean, I'm an asian guy and even I think she's pretty darn bad. she got irritated when I asked a simple question. I had a box to ship, postage was already paid online. I waited in line for a receipt. When I got to the counter and requested a drop-off receipt, the lady behind the counter just scowled at me and said "no receipts." I explained that other USPS locations have been happy to provide drop-off receipts. All she did was give me a dirty look and repeat "no receipts." Not sure what I could have done to be more polite, but all I got in return was dirty looks and refusal to be helpful in any way. read more
