this is a small antique post office in the heart of old town Torrance. I usually come here to drop off packages or letters, get forever stamps or fill out money orders. They have P.O. boxes here as well for anyone who wishes to own one. There are moments when the place is full, like around the holiday season. This is where the minor downside comes in given the lack of staff working at the front. I remember once waiting for 45 min to an hour to drop off a package and get the packing number/confirmation. But other than that, I have yet to encounter the rude employees that the other yelpers have mentioned. Maybe its because I usually go in the morning. For parking there is are 1-2 15 minute parking spots available but there are also others around the street. read more

I watched him be very rude and condescending to both customers before me, and then when I was lucky enough to get assisted by this individual, he seemed so incredibly annoyed and was beyond rude to me, who literally had a single package with a pre-applied label already on it. I literally was just dropping it off, needing NOTHING from him, but yet he still found a way to be rude to me after he asked if I'd like a receipt and I said yeah. He literally looked like he wanted to send me to the back of the line ha. This individual should be fired for how he treats customers. There are tons of reviews on here for this exact guy saying how rude he is, why doesn't management do something about it? If this guy is mad at life, he doesn't need to be taking it out on customers. Unreal. And just to note, I've been using USPS a lot lately, and it appears to me that literally 9 out of 10 USPS employees hate their job and are always very rude to customers. It almost seems like that is a requirement in order to work there. Lol. Typically have an excellent experience at the post office for some reason the Torrance post office, off Marcelina, is a chaotic mess every time. It's local and somehow during the weekday hours people are there shipping so expect a wait. The vibe is very calm and sometimes you get a happy worker and sometimes not so much. My mom went in to ask a question about a missing package we dropped off. The agent in the window was incredibly racist because my mom has an accent. His words were "I do speak Spanish but since we are in the United States I'll speak english" when my mom stated explaining what happened he said "Well i'll better understand you in spanish". Where do I begin? Monterey office is currently closed due to asbestos issues. Came here a week ago to send out a package. Guess what? Package was never delivered and is missing! Had to deal with postal worker R. Patel who was very rude and condescending. Telling me repeatedly "your package isn't missing. We just don't know where it is and hasn't been delivered". Isn't that the definition of missing? So basically he told me to "wait and see" and when the package arrives it will be scanned. There is no way they can locate it. This is the closest post office to me so it's the one I go to. I only ever drop off packages here so I never deal with the employees. The reason why this is a one star post office for me is the lack of parking. The 20 minute parking in front of the post office is never enforced and it leads to people that are eating at the restaurants to take advantage of that parking when it should be for people needing to make a quick trip. He is absolutely helpful and professional. He was so patient in assisting me with my package and especially that I messed up with the labels and he was just so nice to explain everything and help me all the way. I want to give not even a one star. First of all, I missed my delivery "certified mail" so I rescheduled but no one showed up so I waited 2-3 days and after I went to this location for pickup. I drove all the way down and I gave him (the bald guy) details he checked back there and came saying "we dun have any mails for you neither in holding nor the rescheduled." I was pissed and I told him it's here and he said no so I went back home but the slip is saying I have to pick up mail there. The next day I went again and I told him it is saying pickup here u have to search again and it's a certified mail from the government he searched and said no and asked me again what's the mail and I said again "certified mail" and there he found the mail. If he is not interested in working at USPS so do not work but do not give trouble to other people. It's a government mail so I dun think he should behaved like this. This post office is not what you would call reliable. First of all, they apparently have never thought to open another booth so two people could go at once, making the line way longer. Second, the mail carriers are not reliable at all. Our mail person only delivers our mail half the time, and when they do, it's usually someone else's. Look, I know what you do probably isn't a blast, but it's still your job. Do it right. Also, the people working there aren't fun to deal with. Usually they're snappy or just incompetent. Quite possibly the slowest moving post office I've ever been to and that's saying a lot. Unfortunately it's close to home so I've been here many times. Service is not hostile, like it is at some other locations, but you'll never see more than 1 person working regardless of how long the line is or what people need. i'd give this location zero stars if i could. i just happened to be in the area with packages i needed shipped so i dropped them off here. two out of three packages were successfully delivered while the other was never scanned in or updated. given i'm a 25 minute drive from this location, i called about 6 times where id sit through the automated stuff then the phone would finally ring for one ring and hang up! so i drive down. i approached in the kindest way possible because ik most govt workers aren't the happiest lol. so i begin with a hi how are you to which the cross eyed asian lady just stares at me blankly... okay so i ask if she can help that i dropped off a package over a week from then and that there was no updates like it hadn't even been scanned while my other two were fully delivered. she's really rude and just saying no over and over that if she looks up the tracking it's gonna say the same as mine so i kindly ask okay would you maybe be able to check around the drop box over there if maybe it fell out or something and she just says nope and totally unwilling to help. so then im like okay whatever and ask also, do your phones work bc i called many times and it'd ring once then hang up and she says so rude to me "why would i answer the phone if i have a line and im the only one working" . well jeez sorry lady that ain't my fault but if you answered the dang phone i would've saved 50 minute drive worth of gas since you were so unwilling to help. to make it worse, before i got in line to get help from the lady, i had dropped a seperate package into the drop box which hasnt been updated since i dropped it off five days ago. other patrons agreed that the service is terrible and that lady was super rude. i understand if you're understaffed but there's no need to be rude. definitely would not recommend this location and never coming here again. after my first package was lost, i hope my other one that i dropped there will survive the disorder and chaos of this location. read more

I regret to state publicly that this is the worst postal service I've ever been forced to endure. I don't know what clown agency hires the parcel carriers here, but while some are okay, some tasked with delivering eBay items just fail and fail. I thought this was by law supposed to be a union-staffed operation. Complaints from recipients seem to go nowhere, and service is annoying! I'm not exaggerating. I've lived at this Torrance address for more than five years, but about one of the three parcel carriers is trying to annoy me. Case in point: I was expecting an eBay parcel today. I saw the carrier drive up, asked if they had any parcels for me. They looked, said no, then inexplicably later supposedly put a parcel in my mailbox, then took it out 3 hrs. later and put it in a mystery parcel locker that is not on my premises. Are you freaking serious?? You get a richly-deserved 1-star rating. I've been smarted-off at multiple times by arrogant staff at this office. You folks have no more right to that chip on your shoulder than the mystery crew at UPS. Sad. Be better! We need you to do your jobs 100% of the time. It matters. One of the worst experience I've ever had. There were two people infront of me when I walked in at 12:10. It's 12:35 and finally it's my turn . The guy said he has to take a 15 min break and runs off telling me and 8 people behind to just wait for 15 min. Zero stars for this ultra lazy, rude and incompetent Marcelina branch US Post office in Old Torrance neighborhood. This is the second time this year that I received no confirmation from this local post office of my Amazon packages arriving at my PO Box. They received the package from Amazon on 12/18/19 as marked in the Box. However, for the second time again, they forgot to give me notice of its arrival. I had to ask them to look for it. When I asked why I was not given a notice, the lady simply said I DONT KNOW. It's time to write a letter of complaint to the US Postmaster General. read more

Convenient cozy little location with friendly staff and usually not too bad of a line. There's a bigger PO nearby but lines there can be even worse. No real complaints for me tho. Parking is very convenient and it's close to my office...i've come to know the staff and they've always been incredibly friendly. Lines around lunch time can get pretty long tho, since it's so small...there's only usually 2 people working the lines, and that's when it's busy. You can't blame them for being a convenient location and that a lot of people come here. Definitely come well before lunch or well after...other wise you'll be waiting a while. Again, the crenshaw office is just a little ways away, but even with triple the amount of staff they have there; you'll wait even longer there, trust me. I've done it. Only drawback really is that they don't have everything the main office does, especially when you're looking for specific types of stamps. read more

I went to this post office on tax day. The only person working there was going on break. The hours don't state that they close for breaks. She was a rude woman whose break was much more important than people making their tax deadline while running get them mailed on their lunch breaks. I've lived in Torrance or about 47 years and have never had a good thing to stay about the US Post Office until about 5 years ago. Approximately 5 years ago, we received a new Post Carrier named James. James has not only been a great Postal Carrier, but has become a member of the community. Honestly, I've always considered the US Post Office to be inefficient and poorly ran, but Carriers like James prove that professionalism and charisma still exist at the US Post Office. In actuality, I find myself trying to support the US Post Office more because of James. He's a great guy, and literally adds to the community. James, keep up the great work. You're appreciated, loved and cherished by the community you serve. Just ask anyone on your route. read more

I had a package shipped from The west side of Los Angeles to my address in San Pedro. Somehow it wound up at this post office (I guess for distribution to my local office for delivery. So far, it has been at this post office for five days going on six with no update to the tracking (which is pretty useless) in that time. Judging from other reviews list here I would surmise that this is a PERFECT example of a government run agency that is antiquated and need to fade into non-existence. But our overreaching government will never let that happen and will continue to misuse our tax dollars to bail their union buddies. All we have to look forward to is $1 postage stamps. read more

So not only does USPS marked delivered for items not shipped it doesn't make it to the actual mailbox till about 2-3 days later. In this situation 2/3 were delivered and the 3rd not to be found, I opened a case, the case worker writes a postage with a return call #, it shows they have tried to call but no answer, how do you get a message back to USPS showing they don't answer? I got it, lets leave a review on yelp so others know of what I'm experiences with local mail. This isn't the first time and it appears until we move out of Torrance this issue will be on going, considering the previous reviews here it doesn't seem promising, advice is this, don't ship through USPS or have others ship to you through USPS as if the insurance is less than the value you will be at a loss. "Please call me directly at 310-222-5902 at your earliest convenience" is the memo, at least have a voicemail if your requesting a callback and at least call back, my phone records indicate there are no missed calls from USPS, what a waste of time chasing and making sure people do there job and its not even. The protocols really need to change here as I'm sure I'm not the only disgruntled person. read more
