What is there not to like about this Post Office? 'Cause I like this Post Office, and no I do not work here! The major cross streets are Crenshaw and Carson, but the Torrance Main Post Office is located on Monterey St. and Crenshaw blvd. It is within walking distance from Wilson Park and the Del Amo Fashion Center. There is plenty of parking. There are 2 parking lots. The parking lot on the west side has a drive-thru drop off mail box. Parking does get packed at times, but parking spots are opening up constantly. The lobby is open 24/7! Once inside, there is a self-service kiosk that weighs packages, prints shipping labels, and sells postage stamps. The Post Office opens up Monday- Friday at 8:30 am -5:00 pm. and Saturday 8:30 am - 3:00 pm. Most importantly, mail last collection hours are Monday-Friday 5:00pm, Saturday 4:00pm, and Sunday they don't collect mail. It is still fairly inexpensive to mail out letters and packages. I have always found the Post Office Workers at this location to be helpful, polite, courteous, and just doing the best job they can do. I'm glad I waited until now to speak up about this post office location in Torrance. I usually go to the one in Harbor City because they are more organized with less foot traffic and hassle-free parking. The reason for my visit to this location was because they were open on Saturday. The small parking lot is always full here. Don't fret, cuz it's only a few minutes before a spot opens up. There's always a long line that does take some time to reach the front. I noticed this time, there was two separate lines, one line for single & another for multiple transactions. This helped us move along quite nicely. Another edition I noticed was the self-help check out area w/scales, touch screen, and payment machine. However, it took me at least 15 minutes just to grab assistance, for blank addy labels that was suppose to come with the USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Box, before I was able to jump in line. The lady at the P.O. Box Window made me wait for them while she helped another person and forgot I had been waiting. Needless to say, their supplies area was very disorganized. My recommendations would be to have someone come out and spot check the supplies area and assist people at the self-help check out area. It looked like some people were having trouble there. Also, guide people into the two separate lines or at least put signs out to let us know there's two lines. I can say that there's a definite improvement since my last visit. There isn't very many post offices that are open on Saturdays so I can see myself coming back to this location for my postal needs. read more

There was a line with approximately 30 people in it with ONLY 1 WINDOW OPEN. I asked for a supervisor twice before one came out with attitude. Supervisors should step up when they have employees out. Rude and incompotent staff. I stopped by to drop off two packages that I needed shipped. I was first helped by an Asian clerk who was nice but VERY unhelpful. She told me that I must buy a roll of tape before they could tape the small box for a cellphone I was shipping back to Verizon. She also told me that they did not have any adhesive labels for the 2nd package that I was trying to ship, and that I must PAY to get a receipt showing that the package had simply been received by the Post Office. I WAS APPALLED especially because I have been going to post offices all over California and have NEVER been charged for a simple receipt. She referred us to a supervisor (Black lady) who was completely RUDE and dismissive. The clerk had already briefed her on our situation so she came out from the back and simply said "If you need a receipt at this time, you will need to pay for it." She didn't seek to get a better understanding of what we needed or how she could better assist us. I am always polite and pleasant so this wasn't a situation where they were trying to teach me a lesson, they simply DID NOT WANT TO HELP. Although the service at the counters is fine, this post office is completely disinterested when it comes to any mail delivery problems. I have had packages go missing this year, and have made numerous trips to the PO and calls to check up on the status. They promise to look into the issue, but do not respond until I chase them down asking for updates. The final update for my last missing package was basically, "Sorry, we don't know where your package is, even though it was scanned as delivered." Gee, thanks. I have tried repeatedly to call all morning, and unless Halloween is now considered a postal holiday, they should not have their automated message answering stating that the office is currently closed. Unfortunately, you can't choose which postal office serves you like you can choose where to eat, so you may just be out of luck (like me). read more

I hate this post office, and possibly even my mail courier. Why? I got a package shipped to me 3 weeks ago, when they went to deliver the item, the guy rang the doorbell and left right away (signature required) and then put the notice in the wrong person's mailbox. Fortunately they were nice enough to give the notice to me. So I did an online redelivery request for the following Saturday, they never showed up or rescheduled it. My BF waited ALL day for the package, only for me to re-check the packing and it was confirmed but NEVER rescheduled. So then the FOLLOWING saturday I make a special trek out to the post office, they notice me in line holding the notice, they tell me to go to the door at the other side. I am standing behind a couple who is receiving a package from the lady behind the half door. She shuts the door and doesn't come back. I wait 10 minutes, watching everyone that was in line in front of me get serviced at the regular counter until I go back and ask if someone is going to help me. The guy asks, "Is there someone in line in front of you?" -- I said "no, she gave the people in front of me their package and then she shut the door." ARGH! I want to pull my hair out. He gets her to come back and I give her my notice and advise her I was waiting for the redelivery and she doesn't seem to care that we waited all day for a package, no acknowledgement or anything, she said she will check for the package, shuts the door and comes back with it a few minutes later. Maybe it was just a bad day for me.. but I have so many issues with my USPS courier and then this with the actual location. SO frustrating. read more

Avoid this post office, even if this is the closest one to you!!! I came here because they lost my USPS package I ordered something from online. Nothing big. My tracking number online did say it was delivered at my house, but I did not receive it at all. I complained to the supervisor and she said that the mail carrier had it this whole time. Next day, I spoke with my mail carrier and he said he never had my package from the start and if he would have it, he would send it back to the post office for me to pick up (which to me doesn't make sense)... I went back to the post office to complain some more. Where IS my package?!?! The supervisor just told me to "wait for a couple of days" in case the package does come in to their facility. I went back again and checked and.. nothing!! I eventually gave up because it's not worth it anymore to come here! This office has really gone down in service over the past few years. The workers seem miserable at their job and this attitude filters down and shows in customer care. I was there for a pickup package. Mind you, I was already having a hard time with the package. I kept requesting re-delivery and regular mail kept coming without the package. I even did the whole online thing and waited for tracking info. Nothing worked and so I decided to call USPS and request a pick up. After waiting in the regular line, I was told to wait at the pickup door. Mind you, this door was hard to spot with a little sign. It was a door located behind another door with a sign saying "please stand back from the door" which was contradictory seeing as there was really no appropriate place to stand other than in front of the door. It looked more like a utility panel rather than a door. A line started to form while we were waiting. We were in line for 15min waiting patiently and finally we had to ask twice if someone would help us. The first time one of the postal workers said, "oh my God you have been waiting there for 10 min!". You would think after that exclamation something would have been done. Nope. A few more minutes pass and I ask the same person if someone is going to be with us and how much longer. Instead of being a decent person and answering me with words, he just point to a lady. I ask what the pointing is about and he simply replies "she is in charge". Ok. Finally we get helped by a very awkward and flustered lady with not a very good attitude. By the way- my package was damaged as if someone tried to open it. The point is--this particular office is rude, unorganized, poorly planned with bad signage. Very unprofessional. I used to ship regularly from this location and I liked being able to get in and get out quickly. I am in a giving mood so i feel 2 stars is pretty generous for this place. I had a few bad experiences and now I will no longer be visiting this Postal Office. Once I was mailing a package that was 2 oz off from the weight I paid for and they said I should pay for and make a new label. I can understand maybe 1/2 a pound or more but it was extremely inconvenient that they turned me away for being 2 oz over my weight. Last time I was there the "supervisor" was managing the line and taking stock of what all customers were waiting in line for. She was speaking so fast that the elderly lady in front of me could not understand her. The reasoning for this according to the supervisor was and I quote "I have so much to ask in such a little time" Okay, I know you have your job to do but what do you do when a customer doesn't understand what you are saying? You shut your mouth and start over, more slowly this time. On this same trip to the Post Office there was a mix up of all 3 packages (1 international) that I was mailing and I had just been to this office the day before and witnessed them scanned into the system without a problem. They told me the packages left the day before but without a physical item they could not tell me where it was. That's BS. If you have a tracking number you can look it up in your computer, right? I came to this post office because I couldn't get through on the USPS customer phone line and the automated system could only tell me so much. I was advised to go in to my local PO and bring my tracking information. I told the supervisor I didn't accept her answer and I need to know where my packages were. I needed to know if they were going to come back to me or what and she would not tell me. She was speaking very quickly and was totally rude. OH! This "supervisor" also told me that she could not help me unless I gave her my route number. I asked her how I find out this piece of information and she says I have to ask my mail carrier. So she wanted me to camp out at my mailbox all day and wait for my mail person? Good thing I work from home and have the luxury of being there. I found her incredibly rude and unwilling to help me. I have been to both the PO on Anza and the one inside Del Amo mall since and they are always helpful and friendly. read more

I don't trust this post office and the employees don't really care about customers' concerns. I dropped my package in the blue bin outside the post office around noon on Monday. It's been 24 hrs and my tracking status still says "not available." I'm worried b/c I'm trying to meet a deadline. I went back to ask an employee today and she said sorry tracking is not available for packages dropped in that bin. What??! :( Wish I had yelped this place before I trusted them with my package. Now I've to live in worries until the recipient receives it, who knows when. This place also gets really busy. I witnessed 2 cars backing into each other in the parking lot yesterday. The only reason this place gets 2 star is because of one employee named Renita. She keeps it real and gives you an honest answer and great service. THIS POST OFFICE HAS DONE IT AGAIN. The carrier was in front of our house at 7:45 pm. He was too lazy to get out of the van and bring the package to us. He then goes ahead and scans it as "Delivery attempted but no access to location" We live in a quiet neighborhood, we have no dogs or gate, there was no natural disaster such as flooding or bad weather. There was no traffic jam. We saw the guy and he simply took off. When I attempted to track him down, it was too late as he had left the street. I went to the post office and the supervisors couldn't give a damn about it. They wanted to go home as it was past 8 pm. We pay a lot of money to have it special delivered on a Sunday and these so called LAZY carriers ruin the holidays for everyone. Why can't they surprise us once and deliver the package correctly? The next delivery window is 6 am to 11 pm on Christmas Eve. I already wasted the whole day today for this package and I have to waste one more day sitting at home. I have said it again, our tax dollars keep these people employed and they can't even do something this simple. I have recently moved from Mar Vist to Torrance. I never knew what a difference there could be between post offices. I have lived in the Mar Visa area for 30+ years, frequently visiting that branch on Venice blvd and Granview weekly. You would think the employees would just smile when they saw regulars. Now that I am in the Torrance area, its almost sticher shock. The employees are friendly, helpful, they actually seem to like their job and low and behold. they smile. I never realized that there would be such a difference from one branch to another. What ever you all are doing, keep it up and send some of your secrets to other branches. I like this post office. A couple hot tips for you: + park in the lot immediately next door to the post office. There is always ample parking, and if you're willing to walk five more steps (don't be lazy), you'll beat everyone else waiting for a spot in the main lot by several minutes. + understand there will probably be a bit of a wait. Going in to a situation knowing you'll need a bit of patience to wait your turn really helps! + be nice. Understand these people work with... the public... which means the dreggs of society come through there. Have some compassion. Take a deep breath. And realize everyone is doing their best. I just want to say these guys are doing a good job and the best they can under the circumstances. I've been here several times, and have never had a bad experience. That said, I go in knowing there will probably be a bit of a wait, which should be expected, which a lot of people on here get upset about. In what world do you ever go into a public serving agency and get taken care of immediately? Also, each visit, I witness a lot of awful treatment of the employees by crazies. The DMV of mail service. Rude, entitled and complacent employees. Last time I was there, a manager was doing an audit and making a big deal about an employee that had left her purse at her terminal, yet I'm there for another missing package. No one takes ownership for solving any customer problems or improving a clearly dysfunctional system. We made an appointment at 10am for passports for my wife and my son . We arrived there before 10am and stands in the line for "passport only" only the 3 of us standing there anyways.So it's really not that busy! We waited about 14-20mins and no one comes to help or ask us. We decided to ask the person in the casher(manager). And she told us that they cannot accommodate us because we are late!!! Where do I begin. First time applying to get my passport. I needed an updated birth certificate. Fine. I went to la courthouse yesterday to get one while the passport lady said hurry and come back she'll help me. (Mind you it was 2oclock and then coming back from la in traffic hour). It was 430 at the post office and the guy at the front desk James said the lady who does the passport already left. Why did she tell me to rush and hurry back if you leave?? James then tells my sister come back tomorrow between 9-2. I came back today at 12:50. Yet the slot on the clipboard were all full. I waited 30 minutes in the area by her door to see if she could help. No luck. Walked up to her while she was taking care of the guy before me and I heard her say that she's not taking anyone else for the day. I said I was here yesterday you told me to come back today. And the supervisor gives me another location that does passports. And she goes "oh no I have to leave I've had a long day". It was only 1:15. I swear something that could've taken 10 minutes. Automated machines. Use them. Unless you're shipping media mail, use the automated machines-- it'll make your USPS office visit that much more pleasant! There was a line of maybe 15 people and I was last but used the automated machines and was in and out of there in less than 5-7 minutes. Better than the Old Town Torrance post office since they lack these automated machines. Another pro: they're open Saturdays til 3pm. Awesome! AND, their doors are open during closed hours for accessing PO Boxes or to drop off stamped mail. read more

I have shipped many tens of thousands of packages through USPS in my life. Very few have gone missing. I have had good relationships with the people of 90049 and 90025. That said, I have absolutely had it with the idiocy of station 90503. If you have a package pick-up, you have to wait in a special line, even if no one ever comes to that door. The main people will not wait on you, even if no one else is in line! If you knock a couple times, sometimes some idiot might yell at you. Then, they always yap at people that have more than two packages to drop off...take them out back!!! Even though there is no sign, and nothing at all is marked out back or even remotely easy to understand. You just have to figure it out, amongst all the big trucks and everything else. I even had someone yap at me out back...you gotta park over there!!!!! No signs!!!! I'll only be here one minute you freaking cow!!!! Sick of it. The government ruins everything it touches. I came here about 10 times to handle stuff for the wedding and after the first few times where the lines were crazy, I stopped minding because this is afterall, the MAIN post office. So I threw that out and focused on the actual staff and efficiency with which they handle things. And they were great. They even pretty much got to know me and knew what I was always there for, always polite and always got me in and out of there quickly. So just gotta bear with the lines sometimes, they do handle a lot of services, but they'll get you what you need :) read more

This location is the most unprofessional, disorganized, and customer service lacking post office EVER: 1. Tracking information for a certified letter could not be verified, no one is willing to take ownership of a problem and resolve it to the customer's satisfaction. 2. Staff needs training in professionalism and concern with the public. 3. Long lines and lack of staff to process customers. 4. No availability of supervision to address service issues. 5. Staff is out of uniform and presents a less than professional image of a federal employee. You'd be a fool to do business with the USPS, remember you get what you pay for.... Other than the long lines at this post office what is not to like about here? They always seem to have a full staff going - about four or five postal workers ringing people up and another one roaming the line to make sure all the packaging and mailing is done correctly to speed up the process. Moreover, the workers there are all very courteous and helpful (last time I even had one of them help me pack my package! that surprised me as usually the government is horrible at customer service). Never had a problem mailing anything here or getting a new passport done . Added bonus, some of the workers here speak Mandarin (at least the passport lady does) so that may be helpful for those whose parents can't speak English as well. read more

It was about 1 hour aftet office was closed. Me and a few other customers simply needed to use the parcel drop off box putside; however, the someone previously used this box did not use it wcorrectly. His or her 2 thick envelops were stuck. One was stuck inbetween where the lid rotates and the other was just sitting there and anyone could walk away with it. We tried so hard to make the lid close but the stuck envelop was blocking from it to close. Me and a few others who needed to use this box to send their parcel tried to save whoever's envelop from getting damaged and at the same time trying to make box work. Then we noticed that there are workers still inside where we could see. I knocked on the front door first. They noticed me but they ignored because they probably thought i was just trying to get inside. So i had to bang on the door to make them turn around. I was out side trying to explain the box is broken and 3 to 4 people they need to use it cannot use it. Please come outside and take a look. Or at least save those abandoned envelops from previous customer. But instead of coming out, they both went inside where we could't see them. Me and other guy tried again fixing the parcel drop off box for a few more minutes. No staff was coming out to do their job. So i went back to the front door and i had to bang on the door harder to get their attention. The worker came out where she can see me but she was keeping distance from the door. And kept of yelling at me saying, "Stop banging on the door!!! You will pay for it if it gets broken!!!" by pointing finger at me. I said i will pay for the door if i break it but would you please comeout to at least take a look at what is going on? The worker lady was kept on yelling and went back into where we couldn't see her. So we customers had to work together for another 5 minutes since staff won't do their job. At the end we were able to close the lid and the thick envelop went inside (hopefully without damaging it) Another envelop which could have been stolen by anyone also went in. Then me and a few other customers were able to drop off our packages as well. We did good. I feel sorry for that lady who was yelling at me because she is such a narrow minded. Just dreadful. They managed to lose three packages in less than a week and that was in January, not even peak season. I got a survey to see how pleased I was with their service and I was very candid. Days after the survey, I received a postcard from this post office from Renata Johnson saying she has ben trying to contact me by phone but hasn't been successful, so I should call her back. It is rather odd as my phone hasn't rung and no voicemail was left. Moreover, I keep calling Renata and no one picks up the phone, morning or afternoon. I shouldn't be surprised... VERDICT: fast and friendly main office with local neighborhood feel. QUALIFIER: despite rolling govt spending cuts to already under-staffed offices, the ladies at the counter manage to make each customer's counter time as short as possible. yes, with half of the counters manned at the moment, the lines do get long, and wait is bearable, but the fast turn-over rate is impressive. SERVICE: usps doesn't even supplement during tax season! did i mention how efficient and quickly these ladies crunch out the saturday morning customer volume? each knows exactly what to do and expedite each package, letter, or parcel in a amiable manner. props us fed. read more

Although my Post Office trips are usually in the Downtown LA area, my rare happenings here at the PO near my house in Torrance have all been pleasant and satisfactory Thankfully, i've never had to retrieve any package from this PO (seeing how some Yelpers have had problems with that portion here) and each time i went to do my business, i was assisted by a friendly and helpful post agent. Questions were answered and i've never left there feeling shafted or pissed off. i had also heard other languages being spoken (Korean, Cantonese, Vietnamese) by some agents, so that's also a plus for those who aren't comfortable with English Yeah, the USPS is struggling to be relevant in this day of the internets, but offices like this one still make it seem necessary read more

This is the worst post office that I have ever been too! The customer service is terrible and several of the postal workers their are extremely rude! I live in the local are and refuse to go to the post office anymore! The guy named Eddie that works at this post office is the rudest person I have ever met and should be fired!!!! He thinks he is the supervisor, and when you ask to speak to the supervisor, he refuses to get them. He over charges for things that you ship! I mail the same item several times per week and he charges 3 to 4 times the amount that should be charged. When questioned about it, he gets belligerent and yells at you telling you that other post office workers don't know how to do their job and that they all should be sent to him so he can train them properly! I don't know who he thinks he is, but he should not work in customer service! He even told me that the supervisor at the Lomita post office didn't know how to do her job! When I asked to buy stamps, he refused to sell them to me even though it was my turn in line. When I walked out of the post office, I had multiple people walk up to me saying that he is always rude and thinks he's in control and makes up his own riles! Something needs to be done about this! This is unacceptable! People rely on the post office for the delivery and mailing of essential item, checks, bills, and for the livelihood of their business. We do not need people like Eddie working in such a place making things more difficult than things already are!
