I had a great experience at the Lomita Post Office thanks to Sue. I wasn't exactly sure which mailing service I needed, and she took the time to ask questions and explain my options. She helped me determine that sending my item by certified mail was the best choice. Sue was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire process. I never felt rushed, even though I had several questions. I also didn't have to wait, which may have been because I visited on a Thursday morning. Unfortunately, I had a TERRIBLE experience at this (my fav up until yesterday) location. One of the employees just went OFF on me. I filed a complaint thru usps.com & received a phone call with an apology. I appreciated the apology, however, I found out thru that phone call that, not only has this employee has been doing this to other customers, she was already reprimanded before. I was told, "I talked to her again." Well, what's the point if being talked to obviously isn't working? The sad thing is, she even told me herself that she told other ppl off (while making the ppl behind me wait & making them listen to everything.) So unprofessional. She must have alot of senority, because I have heard other people complain about her as well. Good when the machine is working. I definitely won't wait in line when she is there after the interaction I had. This is exclusively a review regarding renewing my US passport. I noticed another yelper mention that they were denied walk-in service. It could be that the person was late because they do passport services on weekdays from 9:30 am-2:30pm. I know this because I went in as a walk-in, only to be told that I was missing a document so I had to come back the next day. I made an appointment for the next day. I filled out all my information on the form. I also made copies of all my supporting documents ( Birth certificate, Drivers License, old passport). I also brought all original copies and I even showed up 30 minutes early to purchase a money order to the US department of state. That being said, it helps to get there 15-20 minutes early. Also, when you are making an appointment, please make 1 appointment PER PERSON. The first family that came in at 9:30am had 4-5 people. They also didn't fill out the forms so it caused the people who showed up at 9:40-9:45 am to be late. It was 10:15am when the people who had the 9:40am appointment to be seen and they were not happy. They kept knocking on the passport office door asking what was taking them so long and what was going on. I don't blame them. But luckily by the time they got to me it was 15 min past my appointment time of 10:15am. The employees were very friendly. They told me that the passport photo that FedEx took of me was abysmal, so they retook it and they even told me that I can smile a bit and it wouldn't affect my overall photo. I liked that photo better. I was out the door by 10:45am. [Review #759] 2023-045 I couldn't remember why I came to this US Post Office in Lomita when there's a perfectly good one down the street about 1/2-mi. from my house in Torrance off Monterey St. However, I did remember why I visited this location... I needed my expired passport to be renewed & we had already booked our flights which departs in 47 days (08/12/19). Gulp! I had to pay a $60 surcharge for the expedited service. It was hump day (06/26/19) with less than 2 hours before closing. I had all my paperwork & expired passport, but wasn't organized with it & still needed to write a check. When you're frazzled, it would be nice to have some reassurance from the postal worker that I have everything in order. She wasn't friendly or all that helpful, but I got everything in the envelope & paid extra for expedited service. Sigh... when I was kid, I really enjoyed quick chats with our mail carriers & looked forward to our letters & packages. I always get a "hello" in, especially during summers when I'm not in school; things have changed a lot since. In any event, I received my new passport the weekend before our trip with 4 days to spare. Whew... talk about the 11th hour! o_O This was our last international trip before the COVID-19 lockdown. We were fortunate for this trip because it was the last time my kids saw their great grandmother in person before she passed on (RIP mormor). I came here during a passport fair they were having on a Saturday. I didn't realize they were having a fair until I drove by the post office and saw the banner they had out front. I put together all my documentation and rolled up just as they were closing and thankfully they were courteous enough to let me in still. Unfortunately I had forgotten one piece of documentation, and I did not have my debit card or cash on me (for some reason CC wasn't allowed for full payment of passport). However, since I lived nearby they were kind enough to stay later for me to get what I needed at home and come back so I could finish my application. I went to this USPS to renew my passport and the customer service was excellent! I tried to make an appointment for my renewal online but the USPS website doesn't let you make a renewal appointment, so I decided to make a walk in visit for my renewal. I came at 12:00 right when their walk in's close but Maria was very kind and allowed me to renew in person. She was very friendly to not only me but everyone else that walked in. At Christmas season they didn't open on time but also they let customer in from another door and let then cut all line even more than 20 people was waiting inside. People complained but ignored. When I confront the incident at front desk, only one clark, ignored the customer's complain. They shouldn't make two doors open at same time to prevent a confusion. A while back I come here with my mom and my two little brothers to get their passports, the lady name Elvia was so rude to my mom about the application and mistakes we made. I tried to not being rude to her since she was giving us attitude the whole entire time. she also was talking so rude and said that if we cannot read or clearly write down whatever the application says and made a lot of mistakes to schedule another appt a different day because she cannot keep up with us since she has other people waiting in line . Also one of my brothers got there birth certificate and his passport card back and my other brother never got he's passport card or birth certificate back which we waited so long for it and I call them they never answered me and I also went in person to the post office and they keep telling me to call to this number online which was the passport website where you can track your passport but I call them and they never did nothing either and they would told me to go back to the post office instead and I got tired of waiting for my brothers passport . And we never got our refund back. So my brother ended up going to another post office and he finally got his passport. Mailman delivered this package name is Steve. He delivered this package at 7:15 pm evening. My dog barked during dinner so I took the package to my garage finished my dinner and decided to open my Yamaha HS50 speaker I got thru EBay. As I began to open the box it was clearly damaged on one side with a quarter coin size hole punctured all the way inside. I took some pictures then proceeded to hook the speaker up. There was some indentation and cosmetic damage to the speaker as shown. But here's where the problem is. I left a message with Terry to give to the management, no response first day. Saw the mailman Steve who delivered it, so I questioned him. He responds saying that he inspected the package thoroughly and that he would have applied a damaged sticker if there was any damage. Then he proceeded to say it probably got damaged by a stranger because he couldn't have done it. I told him my dog barked so I grabbed it when you left it. He then says we'll then you damaged it and blamed me for it. I then go to the location to talk to management Allen he says he spoke to the mailman and that's their story. Pretty shady how he left the package not even ringing my doorbell. Quickly telling me after I yelled to him while walking by my house to ask what happened but ignoring me unless I yelled for his attention. It's pretty clear something in his end happened otherwise he wouldn't be so adamant about denying the damage. They're now giving me the run around saying contact shipper for proof it wasn't shipped that way, it's insured up to $100 even without extra insurance even thought the price of the speaker is about $250-$299. All I'm saying is don't use this branch to ship if you're a resident in Lomita use Torrance, cause you'll get treated like a nobody. read more

The lack of accountability and poor customer service at this location is an example of why the USPS is failing as a business. Mail is not delivered in spite of the informed delivery saying it will be. I attempted to speak to a supervisor but she wouldn't come from the back. They said to leave my number and she would call back. She never called. I tried calling there and they out the phones on night setting in spite of it being regular business hours. I called again the next day and asked for a supervisor to be told she wasn't in. The person who answered phone basically said they don't have my mail and the substitute carrier didn't remember my mail. She basically said there's nothing she can do about it, and that they don't handle it at the local office. At the end, I asked her name and found out that she was actually the postmaster for Lomita! It's amazing that they don't at least train their managers on customer service! My regular carrier provided more details, such as several people on her route were missing mail, they recently had a mail theft of an entire truck, but didn't tell anyone. She also said, when they knock over a bin of sorted mail, they send it all the way back to LA to be resorted instead of sorting it there. Sounds efficient, right? I needed help getting my passport processed and sent off for a trip coming up soon, like some others I didn't know you needed an appointment, which is best, but the nice ladies behind the desk helped me anyways. Sue, with a titanic amount of patience helped me process my passport application, it helped that I already had my photo, check/money order, birth certificate, ID and other passport documents printed out and ready to go. I'd recommend this Post Office to anyone, if you just have some patience in return you'll get what you need done, just make an appointment if you can. I went there for my passport application with all the required documents and the lady in charge (Sue) was trying to find mistakes on my application form to reprimand me instead of helping me by simply fixing them according to the documents I had with me. This place is the worst. "ORA" the supervisor, running the place, is extremely anti-social, combative and does not deserve to be working in customer relations nor looking after the branch. I have had multiple altercations with her and other agents. As listed from a previous complaint below mine, the person mentioning the older "Latino or Hispanic woman" refusing the package a man needed to mail, is the same nasty supervisor I'm mentioning. I also experienced the worst treatment from a teller named "Ed" yesterday. I plan on making regional complaints against her and Ed, because the treatment is completely unacceptable and needs to be handled. I plan on driving the extra mileage to another branch in order to avoid the unprofessionalism this place has been exhibiting. Why should I have to do that as a neighborhood customer?! I have been mailing "oversized letters" for years and met all the requirements for the size and width and weight, yet this particular agent refused to ensure that my oversized letter would make it to it's destination and be returned. What kind of veiled threat is that!? They will take my payment then threaten it won't be delivered properly? He then insisted I pay the package price that is over four times as the oversized letter. I balked and told him that it was an oversized letter and to use the card board display board they use to slip in and measure to see if it meets the requirements. It did. He still threatened and insisted I pay more money. When I asked for the Supervisor Ora, I was subjected to the same horrible treatment and insisted I cough up more money. I was using a small letter envelope that was less than 1/2" and easily passed the width and length tests they require for mailing. Why are these agents not following the rules?! I also have experienced terrible wait times with dozens of people standing in line at peak hours with agents barely noticing and chit-chatting with it's customers. With covid still present it is quite disconcerting to have to stand in public places with agents moving at snail speed. When looking at the reviews of this terrible branch, dozens of others have made similar complaints and comments and it's time someone look into the crappy behavior of it's agents and supervisors and eradicate the nasty people I have mentioned, I am not the only one. I plan to follow up at the USPS regional levels with my complaint and use the multiple complaints launched in this Google forum and others to let it be known that this small Lomita branch be rid of money grubbling agents and supervisors that are nasty and unwilling to cooperate with it's customers. read more

This review is specific to the incident that happened on February 5th, 2021 in the afternoon (around 2 pm) and to the woman employee that was arguing with me while not knowing the correct information and her job. She kept stating that padded international flat rate envelope is way more expensive than the regular international flat rate envelope and it's not, proof is attached in the picture below!!! I shipped a package of perishable goods via Express mail on 2/2 to get to Washington DC the next day & paid $187 just to get it there the next day. The next thing you know it's stuck at a wrong distribution center until now, the 4th of February. And now they're reasoning DC is strict blah blah, so they should have told me that prior , that way I could have opted for a better courier! ATTENTION passport applicants: Check the government website for all requirements and evidence needed. The person processing your application may know less than you or say that something is required that is not (had to have someone run back and get something unnecessary). Don't be afraid to pull out your phone and double-check with them. Some are knowledgeable and quick, others are not. Also, had an experience two months ago where a family member was given a slightly insensitive response to a moment of confusion from her accent. Mildly perturbing, feelings hurt, but not a crime. We have had no problems sending packages or buying stamps for the past 10 years. So if that's all you're going to do, you're probably fine. read more
