I'm relieved we no longer live in Vista and that this is no longer our local post office. We stopped by after not receiving any forwarded mail at our new home for over a month. When we approached the counter, we were helped by a staff member (desk covered in sloths) who immediately made assumptions based on our appearance. She scoffed and referred to us as "children," implying that we must have done something wrong in the forwarding process, simply because we looked young. While we can take a joke, this comment was unnecessary, ageist, and unprofessional. Sure, 29 is young, but we are not children? We had followed all the correct steps to forward our mail, and she eventually confirmed that everything was properly set up in the system. Only then did her attitude shift. Sadly, this wasn't our first negative interaction at this location. There seems to be a recurring tone of condescension and dismissiveness from the staff. We only came in as a last resort, hoping to get support. I'm leaving this review in hopes that this post office reflects on how they treat customers, regardless of age or appearance. read more

I got an email recently saying my PO box had been closed. Looked like a card was expired. I was on automatic renewal, so I never think about my PO Box really. I check it every couple of months or so, and I really only use it to receive business mail and stuff for a memorial foundation in my late fiancé's memory. I came to the post office first thing this morning and the encounter started normal. "Hi, there was a billing issue, and I need to do whatever is needed to keep my PO Box." The USPS employee, Paulo, said I would have to reapply for a new box like a new customer, because the post office already changed the lock. Also, a new box fee would apply for the new lock. That was all fine; but I asked if he was sure the lock had been changed? He checked in the back with somebody about that, and did not come back with an answer as to whether the lock had in fact been changed, but said I would have to pay the new lock fee regardless. I'm like, "okay, well then will I get those new keys if the lock was changed?" He ignored the question and asked his coworker if I still had to pay the fee even if they hadn't changed the lock yet. She replied in the affirmative, and proceeded to explain to me repeatedly that I had to pay it. I told her twice that is fine, but what I really need to know is whether I'm going to need those new keys if the lock had already been changed. Her response to that was that I needed to pay the new lock fee even if the lock wasn't changed. She repeated that statement seamlessly about three times. Obviously getting nowhere, I turned to Paolo and asked for the fifth time about new lock keys. It was at that point things got weird. As Paolo was explaining again that the fee I was being charged was for a NEW PO Box, I replied, "then if I'm being billed and filling the form as a new customer, can I renew for three months instead of six? You said three months is only for new boxes." That's when Paolo went from mildly pleasant but not entirely helpful, to unhinged and unhelpful. At this point, I was getting quite annoyed myself. It was all just so ridiculous, and the fact that I couldn't even get an answer about these keys was a problem. He processed my payment, reiterated what he was still calling a "new lock fee" at me, and then got loud when I asked whether there was a new lock and if so, could I get the keys? He said that I'll have to come back and pay for that too, separately. To which I asked what this new box fee covers then, since he said the fee I'm being charged today is for a new lock? I pointed out that to charge a fee for a new lock and then charge again for the keys doesn't make sense. A lock comes with keys. He raised his voice at me and said "[this] is what you get for not paying your bills on time!" I tried to explain to him what my issue was, and he wouldn't listen at all. He responded by shouting at me, and invited the people waiting in line to join in by claiming that I was trying to get out of paying a late fee. Mind you, I had just paid my fees and had a receipt in my hand. He actually shouted, "you obviously don't pay your bills on time, and that's not my problem!" That resulted in me getting verbally berated by people in line. Which, I can't really blame them, since those lines are horrible and I wouldn't like somebody holding up the line either. But I wasn't holding up the line, nor was I refusing to pay. I had already paid at that point. I was trying to figure out how to get keys so I don't have to come back. The situation was actually becoming unsafe, and so I left. When I walked out of there and glanced at my receipt, the item said late fee. Not new lock fee, LATE fee. So the whole time this guy was telling me I had to pay new lock fee but couldn't have the keys, even defending that position to the point he tried to get fellow customers to come at me, it was a late fee the whole time. All of that extra difficulty to get a simple mailbox fee paid, all that vitriol from him, wasting everybody's time, all because he wasn't aware that it was a simple late fee. I think USPS needs to be more selective about who deals with the public. This person wasn't giving the correct information, and didn't have an answer or explanation to a reasonable question. He decided that instead of being knowledgeable or figuring it out, he was going to leverage people in a line by making something up. That's actually quite dangerous. If this is a behavior that continues, it's a recipe for disaster. And the part I found equally concerning, was instead of trying to intervene on what he was clearly doing, his coworker to his left was encouraging the behavior. read more

*3 Stars is because I have never had an issue with this Post Office which is conveniently located 5m from my home and have been coming here for over 10 years. The ladies working in the front and have for years are beyond helpful and work hard long hours! I appreciate them when I need to stand in line, but for the past couple years I've been fortunate to handle postage from my home and just drive over to drop off packages in the lobby inside the drop box next to the self-serve machine. OUCH!!! Yesterday, 1.18 I entered the lobby to place a package in this drop box and while holding the handle down, placed my package and for some reason it snapped back and took a bite of my finger - LOL! Does this thing have a bad biting attitude!?! My finger was punctured and began bleeding profusely and turned almost black in that area. Thankfully I am OK, but it HURT horribly! I was trying not to bleed all over the place and noticed there was no staff around so I knocked on the blue door to the side, but no one came and I noticed there were only 1 staff member in front with a long-line waiting, so I just left quickly to my car and back home to take care of it with a band-aid. I have had good service from the Vista Postal Way post office, but the service on the 1525 Vista Way office apparently needs some looking at: A package from Temu was shipped to me and accordingly they sent me a notice when it arrived on June 9. I went to my post office box for our street expecting to find the key in my slot to open the package box at the bottom. It was not there. Checked the next day and then went to the Vista Post Office oar1525 E vista way. I spent from June10 to July 24 going every 3to 4 days asking them in person or calling and each time they reported they would let me know in 2 days. Paulo at the vista office on June 23 suggested I call Temu and see if they could send me a replacement which seemed illogical since they has sent complete tracking notice and it was over 2 weeks later. They never responded as promised. Finally on June 26 I spoke again to the Josh, the Postmaster, and he said since the package was probably not insured, it was just my loss and the Post office was not liable even if it was shown delivered by them. Why did no one respond ? Why did Paulo not mention contacting Temu earlier s I might have had a chance? and why only at the end did anyone explain the total lack of interest in helping on this.??! Now it has happened again! September 25 I was notified of a package delivery from Walmart. Once again, no key in my box, no package and no one seems to know anything about it at USPS on Vista Way. It's starting to look VERY STRANGE in the way these packages keep "disappearing from locked postal boxes . I told Walmart I am afraid to reorder as I may never get the product, I GUESS WE ARE ON OUR OWN and you can only hope that the package you order will arrive...but don't count on the Vista Postal Service at 1525 Vista Way They don't seem to care. read more

I have to update because in the last couple of years that I have come here the customer service was much better. I was fortunate to finally get some friendly service, yes, smile and all. Today's visit, a minute wait! I'm not going to complain of the line/wait in the past, only because all the windows were fully staffed. I just didn't care for the customer service from a couple of employees that I always seem to get! Today, I got the friendly lady again, as I have in the last couple of years that I had to stop by here. The post office is only getting older, so it looks old inside. But it is always kept clean and supplies seems to be well stocked. Only on occasion do they not have certain stamps upon request, but have other's to offer. I've been using this post office for over 20 years so my experience is different than the other Yelpers. Clerks are friendly and helpful. But then again, they know me and my mail and packages are boxed and ready to go when I arrive. However, the wait times can be very long. So avoid Friday afternoons, Tuesdays (after a holiday), the two weeks before Christmas, and the week of April 8 before taxes are due. Instead either use the kiosk in the lobby or go to Staples on Vista Village: they have an agreement with the post office so you can ship and mail your packages from there. read more

This post is concerning the customer service received by the Vista Mail carrier for the Vista Business location. A compliant was file regarding the rude, hostile mail carrier. On Tuesday 04/18/2023, It has been reported that our mail carrier was driving extremely fast again, almost hitting one of our employees. When asked to slow down, she started yelling profanities to our employees. really rude, hostile reply. We would like to make sure this doesn't happen again, that she is made aware of her actions and the use of profanities within the business workplace. This a place of business and we shouldn't have to receive such horrible, rude, hostile customer service from USPS Service. It is unacceptable, unwarranted, and disappointing. I called in today to report an attempted break in for our mailbox. Someone had tried to pry it open and damaged the key hole. When I spoke to someone working over the phone, he questioned me saying that all of the mailboxes in our apartment complex had been replaced and we had gotten new ones about 4 weeks ago. I told him that we discovered this attempted theft about 2 weeks ago and our apartment complex had yet to fix it and I wanted to know if our mail had returned to the post office because of the damage to our mailbox. The guy did not believe the attempted theft because "they had just replaced all of the mailboxes." I'm called to report a federal crime and ask how to get my mail that has been sitting there for 2 weeks and I was met with nothing but well basically, someone just calling me a liar, you look at the mailbox and try to tell me that someone didn't try to pry open my mailbox or destroy the keyhole. I'm not sure if we have multiple carriers or just one, but they are the wost. ALWAYS stuffing my letters in my mailbox so they're all bent, leaving my packages on top of the mailbox, inviting anyone to walk by and steal them, or leaving a note in my box saying there's no secure location when I live down a long driveway that is VERY secure AND they've been dropping off packages there for over a year, and won't now all of the sudden. I think if the package is larger than a certain size, they wont even attempt to drop it off. I have been calling the Vista post office and no one ever answers. read more

Why the low reviews? It's a post office. They generally have long lines but prices are good. This location I had friendly, cheery people all around. One lady lent me her pen, another grabbed me pre-paid envelops because I "looked trustworthy" lol. Super nice people, and no wait at all! I can't see why there is anything you can knock that experience for. If you go to the PO and expect a luxury experience, you're going to be disappointed. And probably shouldn't be let out in public. This is the first post office that literally has no customer service... I've lived in a lot of places and seen many a post office, but the sign on the front door states, "Go across the parking lot to the Postal Annex" -- which has overpriced forever stamps. At least they have a little automated machine in the corner for you to mail your letters/packages out. Eh, awful awful awful. The post office has a bad rap but since I work in an industry with a bad rap I gave them the chance and went in to ship a package with an open mind. I am a virgin post office shipper and was happy to see the line being fairly short as I have heard horror stories of incredibly long lines. As I happily stood in line I watched the works be rude to an elderly woman who was wanting to cash a postal money order. The first person didn't have enough money to cash the $200 check and made her wait for the next person. That person didn't have money, and the next was leaving for lunch so didn't want to deal with her. Each person passed her around as was ruder than the next. Poor lady just left and never got her cash. My turn at the counter made my experience my first and last. While I was in line I looked for a shipping tag for regular mail and didn't see any. When I got to the counter I told her this and she rudely informed me that there is no regular shipping tag. She then basically accused me of mailing drugs since I had used some duct tape on my box. She then was rude to me about not having a shipping tag and like 5 other stupid things. After a few minutes I was pissed off enough to just leave and go ship from the UPS store. read more

We were attempting to mail square marriage invitation envelopes. We went to the nearby post office on E Vista Way and were told there would be no additional postage requirement beyond a standard stamp. Seeking a second opinion, we brought the letters to this post office and were told that we would need the 70 cent stamps because these are of a size and shape that requires manual handling. So we purchased 100. Then we return with the letters sealed and stamped with the 70 cent stamps and were told no, we will need the one dollar stamps. Not only did we get separate answers at two different USPS branches, but we got two separate answers at the same USPS branch. This is really disappointing for something that should be easily defined based on weight and shape. Why could we not be given a truthful answer before spending $70 on stamps? read more

This place is always so helpful when I need something. It's the customers who are rude that have something negative to say. Every time I go, there's always a customer angry yelling at a worker for something that is out of the workers control, even though the worker has told them the same thing over and over. But as long as you are respectful, you will receive the same treatment back. This post office is on the small side and tends to be crowded, especially during the holidays. Today around 4 there were 20-30 people in line! On the up side, I have always been able to find parking and the staff I've encountered are friendly and helpful. Nice personnel, I believe the clerk I met with was named "Theresa" and she was extremely sweet. They had 3 clerks working the line (that was 12 people deep) when I arrived. Somehow it still took more than ten minutes to get up to the counter. I went around 11:30 on a Friday. While I'm satisfied with the service I received, I don't think you should have to stand around waiting for ten minutes to get a letter weighed and purchase postage for it. My transaction took less than one minute, and almost always does, seems like people are always going to the post office with their head... you know where. Tips for going to the post office... common sense sh!t. 1. Bring a pen. Even if you think you have everything filled out, bring one anyway. You may realize you wanted to change an address or need to fill out a custom form...not having a pen is a big slow down, not just for you, but for everyone behind you too. 2. Bring tape if you don't have your package already taped. I think I remember a time when post offices used to have big "tape gun" type devices that they would let you use in the office. Those times are now over and they offer little baby reels of packaging tape for something like 3 dollars. Like I said... just bring tape or have your stuff taped already. The post office can't seem to make a profit and they think selling tape is going to save them... look at pensions instead. 3. If you buy then sell books back online for school, send them "Media Mail" Package them yourself, then request "Media Mail". It only costs like 4 bucks to send it and the tracking is an extra 90 cents (or something similar to that). They sell "Ready Post" packaging there, it's reasonably priced, and it's what I normally use. 4. Bring cash - I don't like spending my cash either, but sometimes lines open up for "cash only"... and damn it, if I can get faster service (ethically) I will. 5. Don't try to mail (or don't admit you're mailing) Alcohol, Perfume, Rx Drugs, Cigarettes, or firearms. Aerosols, Lithium Batteries, Nail Polish, Pool Chemicals, Paints, Matches, and Certain Glues have special restrictions to mailing, but may still be able to be mailed. My advice...as I've gotten several items that are restricted by mail (while I was deployed), is package it appropriately. You probably can figure out how to mitigate the risks of discovery if you use some common sense in your packaging. A lot of laws / regulations exist because people suck at using common sense, so I plead with you to try it. It's really useful sometimes. read more

Such a frustrating experience! I had my mail held while I was away and asked for all the accumulated mail to be delivered to my home. Three days later, it still hadn't arrived. I tried calling two days in a row. They NEVER answer the phone. It is virtually impossible to get a real human being to assist. I finally (interrupting a frenzied schedule) drove to the Post Office where I was handed my mail which did not include today's mail (I know that as I signed up for their Informed service and I'm supposed to have the water bill today. Not here). I asked the agent why nothing works. He responded, "I have no answer for that." My trust in this organization is down to zero. read more

I have scheduled pick ups, several times this year. I get the confirmation email that I scheduled. The next day, I'll get an email confirming that my packages were picked up.... BUT THEY'RE STILL ON MY DOOR STEP! I normally take my packages myself, but on days when I know it'll be hard to get out of the house with both kids... I schedule.
