I would not recommend Carolina Camper Works based on my experience…read more I brought my RV in for an assessment and was very clear from the beginning that I wanted a diagnosis and an estimate before any repairs were performed. I specifically explained that I had problems with unapproved repairs in the past and did not want that to happen again. After my RV sat in their shop for several days with little communication, I called for an update and was informed that they had already installed a new part and completed the repair without my authorization. I was then presented with a bill that included the assessment, labor, and parts--double what I had originally approved. When I expressed my frustration, I was essentially told I could either pay for the repair or have the part removed and only pay for the assessment. After several conversations, the only concession offered was a small discount on the part. The most frustrating part came when I arrived to pick up the RV. The owner greeted me by saying I owed nothing, only for me to discover that he had already removed the part and returned the RV to its original condition without discussing it with me first. In the end, my RV spent eight days in their shop, nothing was repaired, communication was poor throughout the process, and I was made to feel like the problem was my hesitation over work that I never approved in the first place. While I ultimately paid nothing, the entire experience was frustrating, confusing, and handled in a way that left me with very little confidence in how this business operates.

They are totally incompetent. spent my money troubleshooting using the wrong diagram ( discovered this when I got it home). In business 50 yrs? I say 50 x 1yr. Anybody can be a parts changer. They didn't even verify the part #'s to the diagram they had. Unless you just want to throw your money away, stay far away from this place.

Erik met us at a state park to do a detailed inspection of a fifth wheel we recently purchased…read more This is the first time we have had an RV inspection, it was similar to a home inspection (including the detail and format of the report you receive). The thing that was different from a home inspection is that Erik took extra time to point out the various issues he found, explaining them in detail and answering my questions along the way. I learned a ton about my trailer in the process, and we got a detailed report full of useful information and tips about operating it, major issues that need repair, etc. I'd definitely recommend Erik, he's very knowledgeable and has been working with RVs (and is an owner himself) for a long time. He's great to work with, and is detailed and thorough in his inspection.

I called the day after I arrived and let them know I was in town and flexible for the next three weeks and would be available at whatever time of day they could fit me in for a few issues I was having with my RV. The receptionist asked me to put my RV issues in an email so she could send them to the technician. I did the same day and prioritized the issues so that if they only had time to assist me with one of the four, at least I'd have one of them fixed. The issues I had weren't out of the ordinary or difficult problems. I just needed help from an expert. That was Monday. By Friday, I had not received a reply to my email or a returned phone call. I called again the following Monday. She said she would remind the technician about the email and that they would get back to me. I waited until Friday and, again...nothing. I called back again, left a message. The receptionist called me back about an hour after I had left the message and told me they weren't able to fit me into their schedule. This was on a Friday, after 2pm. If you own an RV, you know how difficult it is to find anyone on a weekend. After two of the three weeks I was here I waited for them to give me the courtesy of returning my email and/or my phone call. At no time did they say there was a possibility of not fitting me into their schedule. At the very least, she could have given me that information and the name of another reputable RV tech in the area. She apologized and THEN gave me the name of another company in the area, but also mentioned she wasn't sure if they were any good. I'm still frustrated and now I have only one week to find someone to help me or risk traveling to another city and hope for the best. I don't think I feel this frustrated if they would have simply told me they were too busy during my first conversation with them. It would have given me more time to find someone else.

I called Shaw RV on March 20, 2024, to schedule an appointment to have them check out the RV. They let me know they were busy that week, and Tuesday, March 26, 2024, would be the first available appointment they would have to do their review. I had an appointment to bring the RV to be serviced on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 8:00 am. Nobody was there until 8:15 am, when Shane arrived that only then that they would have the RV inspected no later than Friday, March 29. That was not conveyed when I set up the appointment, and I was under the understanding it would be checked out while I waited, which was my mistake for thinking it could be done while I waited. Shane took all my information again, and I told him I would return before 5 pm to leave the RV, and he would do his best to get everything done before Friday or, at the latest, by Friday. After calling on Thursday, March 28, to check the progress, I had to leave a message for someone to call me back on their voicemail. I was waiting for someone to return my call. I called again on Friday, March 30, left a message, and again, I was waiting for a return call. I called again on Monday, April 1, and spoke with Paul. He gave me a rundown of how long the diagnostics for each item would take, varying from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the issue. I asked what this would cost, but I received no answer other than that they would go over everything with me once everything was inspected. Since I had yet to hear back from anyone by 3:07 pm on Tuesday, April 2, I left another voicemail message to call me with an update. Again, no one returned my call by noon on Wednesday, April 3, so I drove to the Service Department and met a gentleman named Alan, who worked part-time there. He was unaware of the status but did find the paperwork on what was being done, although he could not update me on when all inspections would be completed or pricing; other than that, some parts needed to be ordered. Alan said he would call me by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 3, to give me an update. Since I have not received a call, I called at 4:38 pm on Wednesday since the shop closes at 5 pm in hopes of getting an update. Again, no one answered my call, and I had to leave another message for someone to call me back. I'll add updates, but I am very frustrated at this point. My potential buyer has been patient, but I must find out how long that will last. I intend to sell this RV with any known repairs that may be needed before completing the sale so I can convey the condition and perform repairs or provide credit to let the new owners complete any work.
